...was this intended to be a pun? If not, it really should have been.
For my 2 cents, I have 4 points (they're on sale, 2 for 1):
1) It's supposed to be funny.
2) He said "most women" not "ALL women".
3) Just because she hears that troublesome voice doesn't mean she listens to it. Don't you ever get weird impulses to do things that you don't ever actually do because they're too crazy/illegal/inappropriate/etc.?
4) A voice in your head that tries to get you in trouble seems more like something an adolescent male would have problems with. -
(The Ring) Getting Samara's body out of the well won't save you; you have to copy the videotape and show it to someone else.
(Vantage Point) The President's double got shot. The real President is getting kidnapped.
(Hot Fuzz) The NWA is killing obnoxious people so that they have a better chance of winning the Best Village contest.
(Collateral) The killer's last target is the woman lawyer that was in the cab earlier. He's been killing the witnesses from her case. -
"I KNEW I heard someone playing Thriller in here..."
If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest. -
I would also like to express my thanks to all those who are serving in the Armed Forces.
One of my in-game friends is a Marine. He's currently stationed in a distant time zone, but I stay up late to meet him on weekends. I'll be sure to direct him here. I hope that reading this will make his day. -
Quote:I also support this idea. If villains can get access to capes by stealing one from a hero, then why not let higher level heroes do this? If you need a more heroic reason for it, a "keeping a level playing field"-type thing could work, either because it gives you some of the same powers they have, or because it weakens them when they were building their strength for a full scale invasion.i think the suggestion for hero patrons was so that heros could have access to PPPs by giving you a quest line in which you steal the patrons power, ect
like BABs gives you the job of going after black scorpion and there would basically be like regular patron arcs doing 1 unlocks them all and they would basically get the hero version of the current patron badges to make things simpler there -
Quote:Makes me wonder how Skye knew that Sixer in the stranded vehicle (I forget his name). Also, if 100 people is a lot for one pilgrimage, and the Sixers are all from the Sixth Pilgrimage, doesn't that mean that there are less than 100 of them?Well it may be a one way trip for matter but not EM communications while the portal is open, like it was in SG-1.
It's been implied that there is likely Sixer sympathizers still at Terra Nova. It is also possible that members of the same group are sent back during each pilgrimage. It did seem that all you need was cash to get or fake credentials and money to smuggle stuff over.
I'm sure there will be additional back story of the previous pilgrimages as well as back stories of the major characters.
Quote:Notice that the try not to kill the local animal life. Sonic cannons and tranq rounds. If this is a split of the time line, why worry about a butterfly effect?
Quote:Also there is part of me that wonders if the reason they "accidentally" discover the time rift is because someone found evidence of the colony in the present.
I read a newspaper article that said that they added more character development so that it wasn't all "dinosaur carnage". Hopefully Fox will update their summaries accordingly. -
The best advice I could give a noob (aside from "check the forums", which you obviously don't need) is to try a lot of different ATs/powersets to find out which ones you like to play best. Your favorite ATs/powersets may or may not be the same as what you originally thought they'd be. I spent a number of years (5) refusing to play melee characters. Then I tried an electric/willpower brute. It was (and still is) without a doubt the most awesome I have ever felt playing this game.

I took the liberty of appropriating this, since I wanted a good female character concept ("OMG, it's, like, soooooooo awesome!"). Here are some other ideas to make up for taking Statesmandy:
Statesmoon from Werewolf Earth
Statesmonster from Horror Movie Earth
Shakesman from either the Earthquake Earth or the Fast-Food Restaurant Earth
Dates.Man from E-Mail Spammer Earth
Breaksman from Accident-Prone Earth
Lakesman from Water Earth
Streaksman from either the Abstract Painting Earth or the Not-Wearing-Very-Much Earth (although the second option might prove a bit difficult in-game) -
So does this SG exist yet? Cuz I'm interested.

...Okay, I guess I typed too slowly.

Did anyone else start hearing the "Hallelujah Chorus" when they saw the OP?

I would also like to vote for "make it an option" and to suggest another possible option; have the glowie show up on the map only for parts of the map that you've cleared.
I know it seems a bit redundant, but there are several times (especially in that big 3 leveled chamber on Council maps) when I've nearly gone crazy because I hear the glowie but I'm one floor too high/low, or it's on the other side of a wall, or something. It would really help if it would show up on the map so that I could click on it and use the handy-dandy yellow arrow to find its exact location.
At the same time, I enjoy the hide-and-seek bit sometimes, and this halfway option seems like a good compromise (at least for me). Of course, I'd probably just leave it on and then use the Reveal veteran power when I want to find everything quickly. -
In case anyone else remembers this stuff...
Awesome Button: That one power that looks really cool and makes mobs melt so fast that you almost wish you could use it exclusively. Usually has an incredibly long recharge time (looking at you, Ion Judgement...).
Captain Dynamic: 1) That one guy who brags about how awesome his build is, and yet never seems to actually do anything, or 2) That one guy who thinks that xp/cool stuff should be handed to him for "rescuing a cat from a shrub (not a thorny one, mind you...)". A "Captain Dynamic" may be both of these simultaneously. -
All right! I got it and it works (double-checked to be sure).
Thanks Chad! -
Quote:*crosses fingers*Alright, the people who were complaining that they specifically couldn't get a facepalm code didn't reply to my PMs, so I guess they weren't that interested after all.
Anybody else who wants one and is having trouble getting it, send me a PM. I have an extra, and it goes to the first person who asks for it.
Please, oh please....
I have SO many "bad attitude" characters who could use this, not to mention a few elitist jerks who wish to express their displeasure at the stupidity of everyone else.
Yeah... I mostly play villains (although heroes aren't necessarily exempt from those personality parameters either...). -
Quote:Exactly how nerdy is it that I know what Ceti Alpha worms are and what a d'k tahg is without having to look them up on a website somewhere? This annoys me greatly. DS9 is my favorite series.
Also, I'd forgotten exactly how annoying Neelix was until I rewatched a few episodes of Voyager. Neelix needs to die. Horribly. Maybe by radiation poisoning. Or one of the Ceti Alpha worms. Perhaps stabbed in the heart with a d'k tahg. -
Quote:Then again, over the course of 1,000 years people will invent a whole bunch of new stuff for you to do/try/mess with/build new dreams around. The longer people live, the more likely they will commit suicide. People are just not made to live forever. After 1000 years, you have pretty much completed all your dreams and have to come up with more complex dreams to keep you from being bored. The term bored to death applies to people who live for too long.
If anything, I think the hardest part would be adjusting your "old-timer" thinking to new technologies and ways of living. -
Quote:So true. Unfortunately, I fall in the "Sci Fi geek" category. When I first heard about that apartment, I thought "WAAAAAANT!!!!". Maybe some day in the distant future when I get my own house I'll do a room like that... in the back... where no one can see it....I'd bet if the guy spent all the time/money to make his apartment into some kind of Ultimate Sports Den including part that looked like a football (American or otherwise) locker room, no one would comment negatively at all.
Sports geek = Cool and socially acceptable. Sci Fi geek = Sad nerd and social pariah.
Society sucks.
For now I'll have to be content with my Star Trek t-shirts and my bumper sticker that says "Starfleet Security: The few, the proud, the expendable". By the way, I refuse to use this bumper sticker because I'd have to get rid of it when I get a new car. -
The Star Trek apartment.

For future reference, how do I include photos in forum posts? I'm not very good at technical stuff, and I just never had a reason to learn how until now. -
I'm not sure how fire/dark would work in a duo, but it's a pretty good combo for soloing. Tar Patch + Rain of Fire = "ha ha, you can't get away!", and you can get those two powers pretty early (Tar Patch at level 2, and Rain of Fire at level 6, I think).
I haven't gotten too far with my fire/dark yet, but the high level ones I've seen pretty much mire down their enemies with -Acc debuffs and laugh as they miss while stacking Fire's DoT on them. -
Quote:This makes me think of the aliens from Independence Day, and what the President says about them; "They're like locusts. They're moving from planet to planet, their whole civilization. After they've consumed every natural resource, they move on. And we're next."Actually the "rate" of increase is the irrelevant part. As long as there is ANY increase in world population, even if it's very slow growth, there's going to be an ever increasing pressure on finite resources. We might be able to avert a resource crisis for a long time using fancy technology tricks. But sooner or later we are either going to have to STOP that growth completely or move some people off this planet, period.
Quote:Problem is that overall world population is currently NOT growing slowly. Sure the rate in so-called advanced countries may be relatively slow, but when taken together the total world population is currently exploding like never before.
Quote:Once again I do hope for a Star Trek like future for us all. But if our collective history is any indication our first steps into the galaxy will far more likely be on-board ships prefixed with "ISS" instead of "USS". You Star Trek nerds out there know what I mean by that. -
I used to, but I ran out of cool names a looooooong time ago.
*sigh*
Alt-itis is such a curse. -
I only have one question so far:
How do you have enough free time to come up with ideas like this?
