Not sure about Ascension but Celestial supposedly has already got a fix that's pending for an upcoming patch. *shrugs*

Quote:Because they needed material specifically intended to be "DVD bonus" scenes perhaps?Well, it does do a pretty good job in a minute of explaining why Banner came back and how he came back, which was a little bit of a plot hole in the movie. I wonder why it hit the cutting room floor?
Like BrandX implied movies usually have huge amounts of footage edited down in order to make a better final product, even if the stuff that hits the editing room floor is great material. In this case while the extra screen time with Banner/Hulk is probably interesting to Hulk fans it would have slowed the movie down right at the point they wanted to ramp up the action leading to the final climactic end battle.
As PRAF68_EU said the "plot hole" that led to Banner showing up to fight really wasn't that jarring. Banner is a smart man and it can be assumed it was fairly easy for him to "borrow" transportation and scoot his way towards where all the aliens were destroying New York City. Besides that scene allowed Whedon to serve up a bit of a joke about the classic "cavalry to the rescue" meme where instead of a full brigade of horses we have instead a pathetic looking single guy riding a silly scooter to come in and save the proverbial day. -
Yep this one was such a "no brainer" that the Devs already gave us something like that.
Obviously the Devs thought that combination in one single power was too powerful so I doubt we're going to get anything better. -
Quote:Yeah I'm no real fan of the limits of the "non-combat" travel powers either but it's a safe bet that's how they'd be implemented. All in favor of seeing this but you realize if they do it, it will be a non-combat travel power.
Scratch that last bit. I know you realize that. I'm just mentioning it because there will be people complaining about not being able to use their powers.
Still it'd be another flight power option that might work better for natural/animal/vampire oriented character types. -
While my idea isn't quite a "dual" travel power it's still one that seems pretty obvious: We need a shapechanging flight power. We already have things like the Coyote and Panther powers that are fine for ground travel. Why don't we have something like a power that shapechanges us to hawks or bats so that we can fly?

Quote:Your suggestions are fine but at least the Magic Carpet and upcoming Void Skiff are flight alternatives which are a bit more "magic" oriented than the Raptor Pack. Sadly the Void Skiff is the new "ultra rare" from the next Super Pack set so that'll be at the very least problematic to get.I have a number of characters where I just cant fit flight into the build & I end up getting the temp power Raptor Pack as my travel power.
However... the raptor/rocket pack just doesnt fit the concept on a number of my toons - especially the magic origin ones.
So, how about an alternative? A magical flight necklace, or an anti-gravity belt. Something a little more subtle and less obtrusive. -
Quote:Because there are more than likely far more people who like it the way it is. Seems simple enough to me. *shrugs*Just want to understand not attacking anyone, but why keep it? The MMO women in those do not stand like the ones in this game, why not change it?
I wouldn't be against your suggestion as an ADDITION to the game. It could probably be relatively easily added as a new stance emote. But there's rarely ever going to be a legitimate reason to outright REPLACE something like this in the game, especially since these kinds of things have been working well enough for over eight years now. -
Quote:I have a sneaking suspicion that this "top 26 all-time" list was really just more like the "top 26 favorite shows of whoever put this article together". That seems to be the only working definition of "cult" that makes sense here.here's their definition in their own words:
"''Buffy'' to ''Galactica,'' ''Community'' to ''The Comeback'': Ranking the greatest alternate-universe hits."
On a list with many genuine real-world hits.
If they're going to link troll they should at least be internally consistent. -
Well I agree with about a dozen of the shows on the list, but there are like a dozen others that I'm not sure I've even seen. Oh well. *shrugs*
And as far as Doctor Who goes I'd have to agree that it's probably the most "famous" cult show just based on its long history alone. Not sure I'd rank it #1 in terms of my "favorite" cult show, but it definitely deserves to be near the top of any list like this. -
Quote:This costume by itself is almost doable in the current costume creator. But if by some miracle the Devs could create animated hair that looked like it does in these pictures I'd easily pay $50 for it. I've been playing this game for over 8 years and have ALWAYS wanted animated hair for it so yes $50 is a completely reasonable cost vs. desire price-point for me.At some point in the future, can we have a rocker-themed set?
from:

Obviously creating something close to this might already be possible, but this kind of theme could make for a very exciting costume set and maybe even a powerset.
Also: DAT HAIR. -
Quote:Overall END usage is not usually much of a problem with single-form PBs. In the long run it's probably more useful to have more ACC, even if it goes above 100%, because there are always things out there that can debuff your ACC.Thanks, all, for the commenmts and suggestions. Kosmos, I see that, in your sample build, six of the primary-set attacks have two Accuracies each. The stats in Mids' show that, once you reach 22 and can slot SOs, one Accuracy SO will take you to 99%+. If that's the case, then it seems that, once you reach 22, the second Accuracy could be replaced with more EndRdx, with negligible accuracy loss. Or am I missing something? Thanks again.

Quote:Well I am admittedly looking at it from the point of view of a fully min-maxed level 50 PB that teams maybe 90% of the time so I have Cosmic Balance and/or Incarnate powers buffing me up most of the time. Just the full support of an actual team usually covers the "lack" of Mez protection well enough by itself. As I mentioned before I play the character a bit more like a Blapper than a Tank so Alpha Strikes of any kind are rarely a concern for me. Obviously that's a slightly different play experience than a non-50 PB with SOs.With the change to Light Form the only thing Dwarf form provides is better mez prot. LF mez prot isn't very good (it varies from -2.7 to -3.1 from level 38 to 50). Malta can blow through the Stun protection with ease, Carnies the Hold. Even Freaks can often stack enough Stun in the 38-46 range where you're at less than -3. So White Dwarf is still worthwhile from 20-37 and perhaps from 38-46. For a lot of people 47 means final IO slotting as well as reaching the level where it takes 3 minor mezzes instead of 2 to affect you, so that's probably the tipping point where White Dwarf is no longer worth slotting (though it may be worth taking as a filler escape power).

Quote:People have been making that same generic claim after -every- beta for the last 8 years.what's sad is this is a bug that I reported back in Beta and nothing has been done.
That's not really an excuse for the Devs - but this is hardly a new state of affairs either. *shrugs* -
I suppose it's possible they snuck in a hidden buff to that last encounter. To be honest I always thought that final fight was a little bit on the easy side, especially when you compared it to the relatively more difficult Barracuda version of it. Maybe if the Devs actively did anything at all they were just trying to make it a little more equal to Barracuda challenge-wise.

Quote:Yeah consider that a fast-typing typo. I meant RES. The key point was that as far as Mids was concerned I had more of "something good" with my Dwarf-less build than what Dwarf Form would have given me.Also, er, Lothic...
Neither Dwarf nor Light Form provide defense. Resists, status protection, sure, but zero defense. So you're looking strictly at the effect of your IO build. -
Right, but both you and Von Krieger were steering the thread towards was how a bluesider could AFK farm with Rebirth. This led the thread towards mentioning the Cimorora alternative, so both posts did apply to my response.

I've had a human-only PB for years and it's always been fun and playable. As has been pointed out it's not the most powerful build in the game but the teaming bonuses helps to offset that. Admittedly mine is decked out with top-end IOs so it's min/maxed just about as far as it'll go. For example with Light Form I have better DEF numbers than Dwarf Form provides. I don't want to have to tell you that I think it -must- be maxed out to be workable, but it certainly helps in the long run.
I've found that it plays best as a sort of melee-oriented Blaster. With the upcoming changes to the Fighting Pool I'm probably going to reassess what melee attacks I'll have available. The nova is also going to be made crashless in Issue 24 so that'll help greatly as well. It's never really been a better time to give one of these a try. -
Quote:If that's the marketing folks' way of sugar-coating the behind-the-scenes engineers' request to make sure revolutionary new types of costume graphics don't break the game in general then more power to them.from a marketing perspective you are not gating new content. You are providing exclusive content to veteran players. you change the exclusive content to something new and fresh so that veteran's appreciate the exclusive content.
the goal is not the restricting new content, it is giving veteran's a bonus
It was actually quite obvious, especially in the case of capes, that the Devs were at first not completely ready to have every single player overloading the servers with capes. As time went on and improvements to the servers happened it became evident that they no longer had to gate capes behind level 20 characters.
Just to be clear I have absolutely no problem with the game gating new content. I just realize that oftentimes they do it not just to arbitrarily "give veterans a bonus" but instead to control the amount of server bandwidth that's required to accommodate things like new costume item concepts. -
Quote:Right. Older shows like Dragnet, Emergency and Perry Mason may be "dated" or "stylized" but I'd be hard pressed to call them outright "campy".I've always considered that there is an intentional quality to make something camp, making a genre that's not normally a comedy into one. I'm annoyed that a lot of youths consider dramas from the 60s and 70s as, by default, camp, as oppose to the accepted style of the day. I'm talking shows like Dragnet, Emergency and Perry Mason.
Good examples here. The Greatest American Hero and Bixby's The Incredible Hulk were both shows about fictional superheroes. But while one was totally campy the other one totally wasn't. -
Quote:Using your definition I think the key phrase there is "intentionally exaggerated". West's batman was clearly "intentionally exaggerated" - I would argue that Bale's was not. Nolan's take on Batman gives us plenty of action and high-tech gadgetry, but with regards to the "superhero" aspects it's pretty sober and understated. Heck they didn't even really call Catwoman "Catwoman" in this movie - can't get much less "exaggerated" than that.So yeah, "exaggerated thematic or genre elements" certainly sound like superheroes to me. Or do you think that an actual, real-life Batman WOULDN'T be dead within a week?
For the record I don't regard "camp" as a quality that has to be regarded as a negative. It has it's place and in some shows/movies it's pretty fun. I suppose I'm simply having a hard time accepting the idea that anything superhero oriented must automatically have some degree of camp to it. For me camp is not an inherent quality of ANY genre. Yes you can easily gear superhero movies towards being campy, but there is no type of story that's automatically hardwired as campy.
Again I think there's more a generic suspension of disbelief at work here. I don't think anyone could seriously look at Adam West's Batman and really think "Yeah, that's exactly how a Batman in real life would be". The settings and acting portrayed in those 1960s shows were so farcical and exaggerated that we all pretty much just enjoyed the silliness and accepted it as "not realistic in the least". Once we accepted it as such we could easily define it as "camp".
On the other hand Nolan's Batman is a much more realistic portrayal of what a character like that might be in real life. Yes we all know that there's still no such thing as a real Batman. But like good science fiction Nolan's Batman is "real enough" that the few bits of fiction necessary to make the story work are easily accepted as at least plausibly possible.
You mention a spectrum of campiness and I certainly agree that some things are campier than others. But for me it's not that West and Bale are at opposite ends of a spectrum - for me it's more like West IS camp and Bale IS NOT camp. I see a fairly strict binary difference between the two.
In summary just because both West's and Bale's Batmen are fiction doesn't make them both inherently campy. Shakespeare has a bunch of people acting oftentimes in "intentionally exaggerated" costumes but I wouldn't call his work campy by default either. -
I've heard of people farming all of these badges in Cimerora with just a few nights of overnight AFK farming. I've never directly tried it myself (been done with those badges for years) but however long it takes I'm reasonably sure it's not -that- much slower than the Mercy Island options.

Quote:It's funny how they still love to "gate" this kind of new content. When capes first came to the game you had to be at least level 20. When wings first came to the game you had to be at least a 15 month Vet to get them. I suppose forcing the first arrow quiver to be a Tier 9 costume item upholds the tradition of making sure they are limited at first.Just sucks you gotta be Tier 9 to get a quiver. Hopefully they come out with another kind of quiver for everyone else.
I guess this allows them to get more in-game feedback to make sure they are good before they offer a more universal option in the future. Still, it seems like a low enough risk item now that they wouldn't have to go through the motions of artificially limiting it like that but who knows. *shrugs*
Thing is that "quiver" you're talking about is really just a huge golf bag. I guess it was easier for them to make it big like that so that it meshed better with the backs of characters. I think what made the arrow quiver so hard for them to do well is to have it connect well enough to people's backs without it looking bad. -
Quote:I understand what you're saying here. It's the same basic reason that explains why when most Americans think of "animated movies" they are hardwired into assuming they all have to be some variation of a classic Disney "princess" movie. I'm not saying things like Snow White and Cinderella are bad, just saying it's amazing how so many people are not willing to let their mindset of animated movies break out of that basic formula.Well sadly most non-comic book fans consider the concept of a costume superhero as automatically camp. Actually anybody dressed too differently than the general public is considered strange and probably should be avoided. I think Iron-man got a bit of a pass by the general public because his armor is his power, not just something to disguise himself or instill fear in the cowardly hearts of criminals. Thor on the other hand would get beer cans thrown at him by drunk teenagers out joyriding.
I would only caution that the definition of "camp" being tossed around here seems to be far too broad for its own good. I mean if you're going to dump "people wearing strange costumes" into that category then almost every serious science fiction and historical period drama could also be broadly labeled as "camp" and I really don't think that applies. So yes while there's a chunk of society who'll always automatically assume anything having to do with superheroes will be some variation of our beloved Adam West I figure since most people in this forum know better we might as well not make the same mistake. -
Quote:I'd be willing to refine my position on this thusly: As long as the Devs let the several Rebirth powers work the way they do I will hold my position that the 10 million HP mark is probably "too low" to be considered an ideal point for the top-end healing badge in the game.Even if people were using Rebirth destinies in various raids (Mothership, Hami, iTrials), getting the healing badges aren't "easy". It is only when they find loopholes like the Cimerora group above Imperious or the groups in Mercy where it crosses the line between "easier" and "exploit". Truth be told, if they fixed the Rebirth powers to not count healing the bumped HP limit, it wouldn't be as easy as you say.
I don't have any problem with any AT getting the healing badges with Rebirth or other powers. My issue is that you are claiming a couple broken powers (when compared with other healing powers) makes things "too easy". Other than the three Rebirth Core tier 3 & 4 powers, no other power in the game counts max-hp targets for heal credit.
As long as anyone can earn a top-end epic badge after only a relative handful of -hours- of AFK farming then I will continue to feel the phrase "too easy" applies to the situation in some form or fashion. Were the Devs to nerf the way the Rebirth "Max HP+" feature works then maybe I'd be more willing to see your point of view on this.
Either way I still have my billion HP Empath so my views and opinions on this are admittedly academic to begin with. As I said before I have no real expectations that the current 10 million HP value will change - if anything I think I'm indirectly advocating more for the nerfage of the Max HP+ feature as a "solution to this issue" than anything else.
