    Meh.
I was disappointed to lose badges that I'd selected as titles

[/ QUOTE ] If you selected a badge as a title before i15 went live, you should still have the title (as long as you don't change it to something else).

I have several toons still sporting the "Architect LXXV" title, and a friend of mine still has "The Chosen One" selected.. even though those badges are no longer available.

I suspect the badges didn't really get deleted, but are instead just hidden in the background.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah I'm quite sure all the MA badges are still in the .pigg files.
I doubt the Devs ever actually "delete" anything like this.

As an example when the Devs were going to give us the arena badges back in I4 and didn't it was discovered that they were still buried in the game files ever since then and only got "switched on" live for I15.
  2. Eh I personally don't see why the Devs felt they had time to tinker with this old emote when they still haven't made it so that a person can use the juggle emotes while Hovering. *shrugs*

Most of the artwork can't be used again.

    [/ QUOTE ]
In hindsight it's ironic the Devs spent all that time coming up with artwork for the MA badges that were benched yet we still lack artwork for the Clothes Horse, Fashionable, Ostentatious and Rescuer badges.

These badges have needed their own artwork for -years- now.
One would think that someone at sometime could have found a spare hour or so for that.

As long as we get the Science Booster Pack within the next few weeks then it'll be following the same exact pattern the first two did. Both of them made a brief appearance on the Test server for a quick beta followed by several weeks before they were made available for purchase.

I'm not going to start worrying about this one unless we don't have it say by August 1st give or take.
  6. Philosophically speaking I more or less agree with you. I can understand the logic and reasoning behind the idea that we should have the height and body type editing features as freely available to all.

On the other hand I have to consider this thing from my specific point of view. I have enjoyed playing this game for so many hours over the last 5+ years that me having to "donate" another $9.99 to our Devs for these costume features (that I have also wanted for years) is going to raise my total cost per hour that I've paid for this game by maybe a penny or two if that much. I'm willing to make that kind of sacrifice...

Ghost Falcon said in-game that barring fixes (and a small addition Jay might be making), the booster is pretty much in its completed form.

It's ten dollars and you get to be a transsexual.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well my petite female Tech Blaster who's getting a huge body type mecha robot that she's going to get into to pilot around like Iron Man to fight bad guys has other plans than transsexualism. If transsexualism is -your- thing then, well, more power to you I guess.

Anyway based on the history of the past two Booster Packs it usually takes several weeks between their Test server betas and when they are officially released for sale. I'm not going to try to predict an exact date for it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to be at least a few more weeks at this point.

When you mouse over day jobs badges in progress, you see the time involved listed in hours, not seconds. Much easier to read.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually I think that happened back in I14 and I -don't- really like that change. *shrugs*

When I'm getting close to earning one of those badges I can only tell within a rough hour of when it'll click over. Back when we had the time in seconds I could better plan shuffling my alts around to new Day Job locations. Sure time in hours might be "easier" to read, but it ultimately provides less information than we had before.

Instead of time 'only' in seconds or hours they should have given us a countdown format like DD:HH:MM:SS.

    Still Wings

There's nothing really wrong with the concept of the flapping tech wings we have now.
I just wish we had Buzz Lightyear styled wings in addition to the tech wings we ended up with.

If you ever watched the old Wonder Woman show from the 70s Lynda Carter's boots magically became flats whenever you'd see her in an action scene as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Depends on the action scene; her stunt doubles -- Kitty O'Neal and Jeannie Epper, among others -- had boots without the heels to reduce the chances of being injured. But Lynda did some of her own stunts, including one scene where she hung from a helicopter, which gave the producers fits (the scene had the camera close enough you could tell it was a stunt double in the original shot). Little details like changes in footwear are often keys to identifying when a stunt double has been swapped in for a shot.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fair enough if you want to be all micro-picky about it...

But when I used the general phrase "action scene" I figured it was pretty much obvious that I meant "anytime Lynda (and/or her stunt double) had to move around on their feet where wearing heels would have made it harder/unsafe to do".

I actually specifically suggested this in my TonyV's consolidated list of QoL improvements thread. Do I get a cookie?

Edit: Ack, I think I'm totally out of it today. I see what you're talking about now. Yeah, the shorter filenames are better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, I don't see the point of the change at all. :P The only change it did was crunch the year, month, and day together. Unlike what your other thread said, they already were sorted chronologically. Also, old screenshots were not retroactively changed. That's how I noticed the change in the first place.

I think I like the old filename because they were easier to read.

And as I pointed out earlier in this thread these new filenames aren't even y3k compliant.

They're "new", but they're not actually available in the game yet. Likely, it's a slip of something from Going Rogue (a while back, some recipes got accidentally added to the market before being added to the game in a later issue).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Already? Seems like they would be from the Science Booster or I16. Going Rogue is still a ways off....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah it might be awhile before GR goes live. But based on the infamous "Market Survey" from August 2008 it's fairly safe to say the Devs have been working on it at least that long already. After a year+ worth of development there's bound to be parts of it ready to be accidentally "leaked" into the live game by now.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    QR

not really conidering it was available to all copied toons since the I15 beta test period.

They removed the booster from the test server now and you can only get it by having a toon still on the test server that was there for the I15 test (don't quote me on that this what I can recall atm.)

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'll quote you only to point out that your information is a bit inaccurate.

The Devs only allowed people to have access to the Science Booster Pack on the Test server for a few days last week. It got turned on during last Wednesday's patch and lasted no longer than when I15 went live this Monday. This follows the pattern established for the earlier two Booster Packs where we only had a few days (or less) access to test those as well.

So when UltraOmega said the "testing went by fast" for it yes, it actually did.

    Going Rogue

Well ironically enough if the Going Rogue expansion will allow characters from one side to completely crossover to the other side and let them start earning side-unique badges on that side without losing any badges they already have then I'll be able to say that my main hero badger is "Going Rouge".
  16. Lothic

    Going Rogue

There are still lots of questions about this expansion but the Devs have claimed we are going to be hearing more about it in the coming weeks.

P.S. It's "Going Rogue" not "Going Rouge".
I'll be nice and just mention it instead of making some kind of silly makeup/red joke.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I hope the request for two colors on the lab coat isn't what's holding this up.
That could be patched in later.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Eh, I doubt it.

IIRC when we got the chance to test the first Booster Packs on the Test server it took some number of weeks before they actually went live. I'm not going to bother trying to predict an exact date for it to drop, but I figure it's going to be at least several more weeks from now, give or take.

Heck for all we know our Devs might decide to wait until September 1st just to have something to throw against Champions Online.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Should be said that the 'Super Tailor' technology being part of the paid Science Booster is apparently because the devs simply couldn't think of anything better as the bonus power for this pack. If we accept that on face value, then it probably wasn't motivated out of a desire to force folks to pay for key functionality or anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah I've read where Castle claims we are getting the height and body type editing features in the Science Booster Pack because he couldn't think of anything 'better' to include in it like the powers we got in the previous Booster Packs. I guess that sounds like a good story at any rate.

Whether or not that explanation is 100% true what we do know for a fact is that many other MMOs offer services like body type switching for various fees. It's always seemed reasonable to suspect that if this game was ever going to provide height and body type editing features that we were likely going to have to pay real world money for them as well.

So our Devs "sneaking" these features into one of the Booster Packs didn't really totally surprise me. I sort of expected we were going to get these things in the Going Rogue expansion, but the net effect of having to pay for them would've still been the deal in that case. I know this whole situation really bothers some people because they don't want to have to pay "extra" for it. But when you compare the one time $9.99 cost to other games that charge that kind of money (or more) for each and every character you want to change it's pretty easy to rationalize that we are getting this relatively cheaply. *shrugs*
  19. Well as a bit of historical FYI when we first got to test the costume file save/load feature during closed beta within hours people were already talking in the forums about how to manually edit the costume files. People managed to get access to locked costume items and even unlimited RGB color values that the game normally wouldn't allow us to have in the costume creator. It became instantly clear that people were going to abuse the feature as much as possible.

So fairly quickly the Devs added safeguards in the game code that would prevent anyone from uploading edited files back into the game. Not only did it protect the game from people possibly uploading corrupted files but it also preserved the Devs' ability to eventually charge $9.99 for official body type and height editing features within the game.

Many people have been debating whether or not those features ought to be freely available in the costume editor instead of being buried inside a Booster Pack we have to pay extra for. Whatever your opinion on that is the Booster Pack -is- going to be the only valid way to accomplish it.
  20. Even though the saved costume files have a field for height you can't manually change it offline and reload it into the game. The game will prevent you from doing that kind of tinkering because otherwise clever people could figure out how to edit any of the costume features without having to pay for them in the game.

Basically the two options Thirty_Seven mentioned are the only options. I expect we'll be able to get the Super Booster III: Superscience within a few weeks since we just got a chance to test it on the Test server last week. If it's any consolation people have been waiting for an official way to edit character heights for over 5 years now and it's good thing that we are probably only a few weeks from being able to do it.

I can understand the mindset of wanting to always dress females in "realistic" Batman-esque clothing because let's face it not many superheroines IRL would likely fight crime in 5 inch stilettos even if they could.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm, my Agent Wildkatze is guilty of just that in her base costume. The suit covers head to toe, but has stilettos. I vaguely recall debating about it for half a second and deciding she's just that agile she can do it. As a comparison, my tankers I don't expect to be that agile, and have flat soles.

As an aside, in the Watchman movie, Silk had stilettos...except for the hallway fight, where she suddenly didn't.

I just checked the build # and it matches Ghost Falcon's post from last night. So perhaps those notes are for this patch and not the one yesterday.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We've been fast-tracking some builds straight from Paragon Studios to the Training Room to crush some behind the scenes bugs. The priority was to resolve the French and German server access, and several bugs that were causing map instability.

The 19.20090619.4T2 patch had a showstopper, so we fast-tracked 19.20090619.5T2 to the Training Room last night, and it was just deployed to the North American Live servers today. The 0619.5T2 Patch notes incorporates notes for both 0619.4T2 and 0619.5T2.

As someone pointed out earlier, we do not generally put out release notes for things that are untestable by players,...but for this final patch, we did want to inform players that we had identified some issues that were causing map/zone crashes.

I want to underscore that restoring and preserving stability are our top objective after an Issue launch, which is why those fixes were fast-tracked to the Live servers ahead of some gameplay issues (which would have required more testing time, and added risks to deployment).

We have another build on deck (coming to the Training Room next week) that will resolve other issues discovered by our QA team and received from players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks GF. As always, the communication is well appreciated!

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree. It's always good to know the Devs are on top of making sure things remain stable.

It's also good to understand that in order for the Devs to do their job keeping things running as smoothly and efficiently as possible that sometimes we, the players, don't have to be kept in the loop with up-to-the-minute patch release notes all the time, especially for things that are "untestable by players".

In the long run I'd rather the Devs be fixing these critical problems quickly rather than wasting time bothering to tell us about minutiae that'll do us no good knowing about anyway.

    [ QUOTE ]
But there is a expectation that we're supposed to vet patches on test before they go live.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I do my part testing things on the Test server when I can. But until the Devs start paying me for that service I'm not going to feel -obligated- to do it in the slightest. Players testing things on the Test server is not a duty imposed on us, it's a privilege. There has never been any "expectation" implied or required of us.

I do find maxed-out boob sliders with Eden tops a bit distasteful - sue me. Whatever gets your thrills...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technical question: I've got an older computer and a less powerful video card. My settings are kept on the low end. At higher video settings, do these maxed out racks still go all Buckminster Fuller?

Honestly, that is the part I find most distasteful of all. Without vertex shading it just looks corny. Nevermind trying someone trying to look like Powergirl.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have a feeling the chest slider "maxed to the right" looks freakishly silly regardless of your video card.

To be honest I don't really mind that our game's chest slider maxes out as far as it does. I've never set one of mine out that far but if that's your thing then more power to you. I'm actually more upset that the smallest you can set it is still roughly C-cup sized. I have several characters who are either thin, small or young enough who would realistically be either flat-chested or nearly flat-chested but I can't set them that way.

Maybe someday this game (or another) will allow that kind of realism. *shrugs*

Here is what I did and it worked.

    1. Hero vs Hero Pentad
    2. Rated
    3. 30 minute timer
    4. Super Heavyweight

After we won the match, we received the badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As Draggynn said setting Pentad matches as "rated" does not seem to be required for them to award the badge. Since that kind of thing matters to some people that's worth pointing out. I've yet to need any of these arena matches be set to "rated" in order for the badges to drop.

    Wen_Ho mentioned:
    [ QUOTE ]
anyone else having problems not advancing even though you win the first rounds of a swiss tourney?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes we were having trouble with Swiss matches until we figured it out.

Apparently if you actually try to "play" a match for real (as in if you actually fight each other as you are technically supposed to) then the game seems to randomly decide which player will advance in the Swiss regardless of the outcome of the fight.

But if you decide amongst the 8 players who will be the designated "winner" and make sure the other 7 players just quit their matches without combat then you can reliably get the "winner" to win and get the badge.

We sent bug reports in on this assuming anyone would ever want to play these kinds of matches "for real" sometime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't recall me saying it was required, I stated what I did to get the badge and what I did that didn't award the badge. So, no rated isn't worth anything to me, but thanks for assuming

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually I wasn't thinking about you in particular when it comes to rated matches at all. Get over yourself.
I was adding to the information you provided for those people who worry about those kinds of things.
Your list implied the exact settings needed regardless if that was your intention or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since when did Badge Collectors care about ratings? Show me a post in the past 5 years where a badger complained about ratings when it comes to earning a badge.

And my list does not state exact, it states what I did, and I shared my information with others to show how I obtained the badge. Sorry for trying to [censored] help. I guess you can't make a single [censored] post on these forums without having someone dissect it like a science project. Don't worry, it won't happen again.

And I was kind of joking about the "get over yourself" comment last time but seriously you are getting worked up and becoming way too defensive over this. Take a breath and relax. I wasn't attempting to criticize you at all. It's not uncommon in a running forum discussion for people to add to each other's statements. That's all I did here and you took it way too personally. But for the record, as stated in the patch notes...

In addition to the above new badges the following ‘Weightclass’ badges will now correctly be granted to players who win a rated scheduled match!

So if this is true, then the weightclass badges are bugged in 2 aspects.

    1. The match doesn't need to be rated.
    2. The match doesn't need to be scheduled.

But for the other badges, I did both rated and not rated, and the outcome was the same as my previous post. Villains can not earn this badge for some reason.

You of all people should know just how vague and unreliable 99.9% of documentation the Devs provide for this game is. That's why us badgers have to share our own real information just like this...

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the documentation isn't as bad as you make it out to be. Things get missed, its called being human, and no human is perfect.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Clearly it's not -that- bad. The "99.9%" thing was obvious hyperbole on my part. But it is in fact bad enough that any reasonable person would do well to take anything written in Dev documentation with a grain of salt first until verified. I'd certainly never take anything like this at face value at any rate.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Farming aside, it's a change that I like. I -like- facing bosses, and like the fact that I'll be running into them more often than just where they are "scripted" to appear in missions. Hell, maybe this can help get me those Bone Daddy and Damned badges redside...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah overall I think it's a cool change as well regardless of the farming implications.
It'll provide a bit more of a challenge if you want to solo and more opportunities for Pool C drops.

I'm surprised this didn't get a mention in the patch notes. The Devs must consider it to be more of an "exploit fix" (which they don't talk about) than a QoL enhancement but it's kind of cool that it basically serves as both of those things at the same time.
