Costume Files and Character heights
Two Options:
1) Go to a Tailor and click on [Scales] on the side of the screen with the color selection and adjust the slider by Legs (for maximum benefit: make the girl's lower and the guy's higher).
2) Wait for Super Booster III: Superscience to drop. It will allow you to change your height and other factors more easily.
Would there be anything in the costume file that could be changed?
37 already covered this.
You currently cannot alter the main height slider for characters in any way, shape, or form. The only thing you can do currently is adjust the leg slider, which will result in some height change.
And you might as well just do that at the tailor. I'm sure you COULD change the leg slider by hand-editing the costume file, but why would you want to?
Full-blown height slider changes aren't possible right now. They WILL be possible when the Science Booster launches - when you purchase the new pack, you'll have access to the Super Tailor and be able to change character heights and models.
Those are your only options. Manually editing the costume files is not a magic wand.
Note that since height changes are a feature of the new Booster... even if you COULD alter height by manually editing files, the GMs probably wouldn't be terribly amused. Because that would be, essentially, a free way of gaining access to a new paid feature.

Even though the saved costume files have a field for height you can't manually change it offline and reload it into the game. The game will prevent you from doing that kind of tinkering because otherwise clever people could figure out how to edit any of the costume features without having to pay for them in the game.
Basically the two options Thirty_Seven mentioned are the only options. I expect we'll be able to get the Super Booster III: Superscience within a few weeks since we just got a chance to test it on the Test server last week. If it's any consolation people have been waiting for an official way to edit character heights for over 5 years now and it's good thing that we are probably only a few weeks from being able to do it.

I'm not trying to get anything for free. I have been in game since day 1. I also have loads of free tailor session. I just was looking for a way to fix the difference now rather than later. I'm sure I'll have the money to purchase the pack when it becomes available, as I am out of work.
I wouldn't even know where to begin to make changes to the costume file I was just asking.
The NOTE was uncalled for, don't talk down to me.
I wasn't talking down to you. I was merely trying to be as clear as possible.
Nor was I accusing you of attempting to get something for free - rather, I was saying that concerns like that are why manually editing costume files doesn't work.
If I gave offence, I apologise. No insult was intended. I was only trying to be helpful. Sorry if my wording was poor - I tend to use rather strong phrasing when I'm attempting to make a point.
I also use the word "you" as a general reference to a hypothetical public, rather than specifically in reference to a particular person. I realise, in retrospect, that was unclear. Once again, I'm sorry if it came across badly.

Well as a bit of historical FYI when we first got to test the costume file save/load feature during closed beta within hours people were already talking in the forums about how to manually edit the costume files. People managed to get access to locked costume items and even unlimited RGB color values that the game normally wouldn't allow us to have in the costume creator. It became instantly clear that people were going to abuse the feature as much as possible.
So fairly quickly the Devs added safeguards in the game code that would prevent anyone from uploading edited files back into the game. Not only did it protect the game from people possibly uploading corrupted files but it also preserved the Devs' ability to eventually charge $9.99 for official body type and height editing features within the game.
Many people have been debating whether or not those features ought to be freely available in the costume editor instead of being buried inside a Booster Pack we have to pay extra for. Whatever your opinion on that is the Booster Pack -is- going to be the only valid way to accomplish it.

Yeah, I was thinking of pretty much that...the fact that we could make pretty major changes to costume files in the past, and that's why safeguards were put in by the developers. Lothic said it better than I ever could, though.
Should be said that the 'Super Tailor' technology being part of the paid Science Booster is apparently because the devs simply couldn't think of anything better as the bonus power for this pack. If we accept that on face value, then it probably wasn't motivated out of a desire to force folks to pay for key functionality or anything.

Yeah I've read where Castle claims we are getting the height and body type editing features in the Science Booster Pack because he couldn't think of anything 'better' to include in it like the powers we got in the previous Booster Packs. I guess that sounds like a good story at any rate.
Whether or not that explanation is 100% true what we do know for a fact is that many other MMOs offer services like body type switching for various fees. It's always seemed reasonable to suspect that if this game was ever going to provide height and body type editing features that we were likely going to have to pay real world money for them as well.
So our Devs "sneaking" these features into one of the Booster Packs didn't really totally surprise me. I sort of expected we were going to get these things in the Going Rogue expansion, but the net effect of having to pay for them would've still been the deal in that case. I know this whole situation really bothers some people because they don't want to have to pay "extra" for it. But when you compare the one time $9.99 cost to other games that charge that kind of money (or more) for each and every character you want to change it's pretty easy to rationalize that we are getting this relatively cheaply. *shrugs*

Now I understand. I didn't even know it was being abused before. I guess I either need to find a job REALLY fast or beg a friend to give me some money to get the pack, lol
I really want to fix the height problem because I want to make some demorecords of the two of them and them make videos.
A backdoor way of doing it is to creating a new character(s) with the costume, height, etc. Do a short demorecord of the new characters to get the player model data. Then do the real demorecord with you characters. You can then cut and past the perfect character data into the real demorrecord and past over the imperfect characters.
And the good thing is that's it;s dirt cheap. Cost $0.

[/ QUOTE ] I believe the height is as simple as changing the value of Scale in the file.
As for putting it on your actual toon, you'd have to re-roll or wait for the new booster pack to be able to change it. Even though Scale is included in the costume files, the value isn't loaded in the costume creator.
A friend and I have two toons we are trying to use together. One of them is male and the other is female. The female toon has been around longer than the other one. We finally had them meet in game recently and the female is taller than the guy. We want the guy toon to be taller. With the costume files being out, is there any way to fix that. We would prefer not deleting the character and having to remake it so the heights work better.
