Thats how it feels being a Bot/Traps MM in the final stage.
I understand that's how you "feel" about it. There are parts of this game I don't like either.

I just think asking the Devs to make adjustments to things based on the narrow point of view of the play experience of one AT during one set encounter is not a very viable suggestion. Somehow you'd have to make the case that every encounter in every trial/TF/SF should be made to be "friendly" to every AT, and I simply don't think you've made that case. Again I'll point out that I might like to stand toe-to-toe in melee against AVs using my Controllers but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon either because there's no obvious justification for it.

Put your energy into figuring out how you can adapt to the new challenge the Devs have provided.
The chance the Devs are going to change this aspect of the trial to make it more "AT friendly" is just about nil.

Different tactics sure, but asking one AT to effectively 'sit out' of the final challenge of the trial, isn't good game design in the slightest. Especially for a game that has always been about 'bringing the player' and not bringing the class.
Regardless of which "artillery" we're talking about I hardly think the trial is too hard for anyone. I ran the 3 Lambdas last night with a Controller and I only died 3 or 4 times during each run. Most of those deaths were during the phase in the building BEFORE the fight with Marauder. *shrugs*

People always come out of the woodwork and whine about the newest content in this game with every new Issue release. For the first few days, before most people adapt, there are people who claim "such-n-such" is too hard and it needs to be nerfed. Remember Apex? Give it a week or two and those voices usually die away.

Beside you're probably not even taking into account that this trial was designed with Incarnate Shifts in mind. In a few weeks when many people are +3 level shifted AND have experience with running this trial it's going to be a completely different experience.
  3. Yeah this would be a "nice" to have. On the other hand after only 3 Lambda trials last night I was already done with Interface and half-way into Destiny. Basically I think Incarnate XP comes so quickly that it's not really going to matter for most people.

So it's wrong for different ATs to have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to tactical situations?
For some reason I'm incredibly sure the Devs would disagree with you.

[EDIT] Just as a case in point I ran the Lambda Trial 3 times last night and each time the league I was with managed to circle around and kill off all the artillery within 3-5 minutes. There were even a few MMs in the those leagues and I saw no one complaining. Forgive me if this really does seem like a non-issue.

Well it's not like I'd rage-quit the game if they ever did this.

But amazingly enough there are probably some players who'd actually have a problem with this because they have weird ideas about "exclusive" things in MMOs. And even beyond what any player thinks you'd still have to convince the Devs that this would be worth their effort. While they've given us new ways to get many previous event badges they have yet to do that with any anniversary badge. One would have to assume they are generally against the idea. *shrugs*

Yeah, but no. That's not challenging, thats just screwing over an AT that has it hella hard on these things already. Not cool. And NOT fun.
I'm sorry that the Lambda artillery is giving your MM some trouble. That being said I don't think this game should always be "friendly" to every AT type in every situation.

For every AT type there's always going to be certain tactical situations where they excel at and others they have problems with. There's really no "rule" that says every character should be able to accomplish every task equally well. That's the whole point for encouraging mixed AT type teams and the main point behind our ability to play multiple alts. I'd rather have the different AT types actually be "different" from each other than to be able to have say a Controller be able to play the game exactly the same way a Tank does.

If the artillery bothers your MM so much either find a way to adapt or simply let your teammates handle that relatively small portion of the trial. Play to your strengths and avoid your weaknesses. MMs aren't really meant to jump from rooftop to rooftop like Batman anyway so why be that upset when you can't do that? Most players can't easily melee AVs with a Controller but would it be reasonable to ask the Devs to make AVs wimpy enough so that Controllers could routinely do that?

I'll assume you are talking about the new I20 Incarnate trials. If you are then they already allow more than 8 people to play them via the league system. What's wrong with the obvious solution of making sure you have several tanks in the league?

I'm fairly certain the Devs would see no justification for your suggestion.

(How you can be so certain that its a better film that you haven't seen it is beyond me...unless you re a dang time traveler....*deports her back to the 42nd century.)
First of all I've seen both movies and I didn't even need a time machine for that.

Second of all you clearly have NOT seen Source Code because:

    ***Spoiler Alert***

    (1) The main character is not "recruited" to do the task at hand. He's forced to do it against his will.
    (2) The story itself is not even actually about "Time Travel" at all. It's about alternate dimensions.

Just about the only thing these two movies have in common is they are both sci-fi movies about a guy "traveling" to another reality and a girl he falls in love with there. I'll bet you could probably shoehorn hundreds of movies into that general premise.

And finally yes, Soruce Code was a much better film than Deja Vu.

Jezz... You do know that they are launching Issue 20 today right?
Cut them a little slack for trying to give you new content to play with.

I strongly suspect the long maintenance last Thursday was also related to getting ready for I20 (despite the problems they had). This game still has like a 99% "up-time" record - letting it be down for a few hours here or there seems reasonable enough for me.

Actually I have been using Notepad for this and still get the random 'invisible' characters. Not really sure what's causing it.

But my "workaround" I mentioned works well enough. I usually only have to re-cut-n-paste 3 or 4 times at most to get a bio to "fit" in the space. Also it's only a problem if you are within like 50 or so characters of the 1,024 limit. I imagine if your bio is much shorter than that you'd have no problem at all.

Maybe it's because my Mezz doesn't work like it used to. If I fight a more classic opponents, say from the portals in PI my Mezz seems to work like it's supposed to. Flashfire gets 95% of them and you can char the rest.

But compare that to LGTF or ITF opponents. now my mezz doesn't work worth **** . Flashfire at best hits 3/4 of them or less. Char and cindars NEVER Hold bosses unless I'm extremely lucky or I've put like 6 applications of char on them ( assuming I don't die before then). Now move on up to APEX and MAGE opponents... all bets are off.

I do run +4/8 AE farms but I've used a highly selective opponents that can't sleep or hold anything.

I've noticed a few fire/kins using tough & weave and earth mastery... I've never tried such a build. how does that type of setup fair for sleep/holds?
I still contend if you're looking to find "mez defense" for a Controller in any form other than proper Controller tactics you're playing it wrong. Like trying to pound a square peg into a round hole type of wrong.

From what you've said it sounds to me like you are either trying to play a Controller like a Tank/Brute/Scrapper or you've just gotten way too used to AE farming where you can stack the deck with any kind of MOB you want. You've got to get over the idea that Controllers can be "protected" from mezs the same way other ATs can. Basically it's like you're trying to play tennis with a baseball bat - you can do it, but you aren't going to be able to do it very well.

Please try some of the suggestions that have been mentioned on this thread by other posters. As soon as you stop trying to force your Controller to do something it was never meant to you'll likely have a lot more fun with it. I've run my Controllers up against mez-heavy PvE enemies for years and I almost never get mezzed and I basically never use Breakfrees for anything other than PvP. I don't have a super-secret mez defense builds either. The only mez defense you actually need is the willingness to play your Controller like a Controller.

Once again good luck to you on this.
  13. I've seen 6 or 7 episodes so far and hope to see the rest of them eventually.
To me this show is like an updated, R-rated version of Sealab 2021 and I hope it'll last for as long as it can.

Source Code is like Deja Vu the same way Star Wars and Star Trek are like each other because they both have people flying around in spaceships. Sure there are similarities, but there are more than enough differences to make it worthwhile. Source Code is easily the superior of the two movies BTW.

Actually if it hasn't been done already I wouldn't mind seeing the 15-20 minutes worth of Sucker Punch "dance-action" scenes re-cut and set to cool music on YouTube. That'd be one way to salvage some enjoyment from the effort Snyder put into it.

If Snyder was smart he'd do that officially as part of the DVD/Blu-Ray release so that I could watch that instead of the "movie" ever again.
  16. Yeah I've been writing out my bios "off-line" for years and cut-n-pasting them into the game. Just so much easier than fighting the awful in-game cursor weirdness.

But one thing to note is if your bio is close to max allowed size (1,024 characters) you could see some strangeness as far as just how big the game thinks your bio is. It seems that when you cut-n-paste text into the game it wants to add a "random" number of hidden control characters which can potentially chop the end of your bio off.

Basically the solution seems to be to keep redoing it until the number of characters it thinks is there is below the 1,024 limit. I've seen a bio that has say 1,000 characters get pasted into the game and have the game think there was anywhere between 1,010 and 1,050 characters. Whenever it "thought" there was more than 1,024 characters it got chopped. I had to keep repasting it until the total was under 1,024.

I just take this weirdness as yet another dumb "feature" of a very bad text interface.

Well at least you know now.

But if you do everything OV_ohms said it's not really -that- hard to rack up new Safeguard/Mayhem missions. Avoid doing the longer paper/radio missions (like the kidnap ones). Only doing ones you can easily stealth (like "Defeat XYZ and guards" or "Click the glowie" types) you should be able to unlock a new Safeguard/Mayhem in under an hour each.

Honestly in the greater scheme of things having to "farm" for Safeguard/Mayhem badges is not really that hard compared to many other badges in the game.

  22. Influence is not money the same way heroes only "defeat" villains (instead of kill them) or the way paintball guns are sometimes called "markers" because that seems more politically correct than having kids go out and shoot each other with "guns".

The word "influence" is just a vague euphemism that allows players to decide what it means to them. If you like the idea that it's money then it's money to you. Other people like to assume it's like favors/fame. It can really be whatever you want it to be.

Loss of family, betrayal by family, betrayal by "The System", Sexual abuse, condemned to near-brain-death. Things so horrible that even the imaginary world she escapes to is unsafe and tainted by horrors. The "Dance" (which seem to represent the most horrific happening in the real world, most likely each one is an act of ****, pushing her even deeper into her fantasy) fades into the most cartoonish acts of ultra-violence, visually designed to lambaste us for our enjoyment (much like "Natural Born Killers" did)

Watching the "brothel" scenes for clues as to what was happening in the real world makes each set a puzzle as corridors and rooms blend the imaginary theatre with the reality of the asylum.

It wasn't oscar material, but I thought the plot, characterisation, pathos and sets were beautifully woven together.
If Sucker Punch had been the movie that had the qualities you just described it would've been a good movie. Unfortunately it only barely scraped the surface of getting as "deep and meaningful" as you described on its own. I respectfully suspect you allowed your mind's eye to add in many of the things you wanted to see by filling in all the gaps that were actually present there.

Except for the few minutes of cool action scenes this movie was flawed and shallow in just about every way imaginable. Both the professional reviewers and the horrible box office are proving that point fairly readily. Sometimes horrible movies somehow manage to make a ton of money regardless (i.e. the Transformer movies) but Sucker Punch isn't even managing that kind of pseudo-miracle.

Yeah I'd also give it a "aimed high but just barely missed the mark" rating as well. I know that sounds like a "bad" review but I want to stress that this movie was actually one of the better sci-fi movies I've seen in the last couple of years and was easily well worth going to see it. The only reason I'd "knock" it at all is that it was very close to being a top-notch movie without quite making it.

I've seen other reviewers calling this a "thinking man's blockbuster" and that's probably a fair way to describe it. It's just complex enough to not be totally shallow story-wise but yet solid enough to appeal to most viewers with a bit of action and mystery to it. Frankly if all sci-fi movies were at least as good as Source Code we'd be doing pretty well.
  25. Just to add to what Necrotech_Master said nothing else happens to your Prestige totals or join dates or anything else. All of that gets "frozen" in place while you are on the "wrong" side until you return back. The only thing that's permanent is the auto demotion for Super Leaders. Technically if you return back the current Super Leader could re-promote you back, assuming he/she wants to.
