Oh wanted to add one more thing, during the course of the last 4 years have been member of more then 1 top 10 sg.. Now am in soul possession of huge (at one time considered fully raid ready)bases on several servers I no longer even play on.
-
NOPE. Back in the day sure.. I remember the pride of watching our sg climb the top 100... checking every day to see if we jumped up one more.. top 10.. on way to #1.. GO TEAM!! But that was back when bases were to mean more, now they worthless.. at best an extra storage dump, if no room left in vault or market :/
So no, can't say I or any of my friends care anymore. Note that 3 of the people I regularly play with were in that SG back when CoV first came out.. now none of us are even in a SG anymore, and only cared about prestige enough to make our own personal storage place, if at all. -
One nice thing about living granite: Brimstone,Crystal armor and minerals can be dropped allowing more room for tough and weave.. some prefer the kb and stronger dam of kick, but with granite -rech, I go boxing. Hasten pretty important.. how important depends on how many +rech sets and proc you can get hold of. Going for uber tank vs of brute means you may care liitle about your attacks rech but you will want your Earth Embrace to come back.
-
[ QUOTE ]
It always bothered me when stone brutes didn't take granite. Unless you're going for a theme, if you're not going for granite there are other secondaries that are probably better for a goal of soft capping.
If you want to be durable for SF's, take granite. 2 granite brutes with a healer works very well against AV's.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally never did it but at one point was comparing a non-granite rock build to other sets on Mids.. it's not strongest, but still very strong. But for tanking. you will want granite (note that tanking and bruting aren't allways considered the same by most.) -

At this point I have very little faith, but it's still their job and responsibility and I'm not going to worry about how well or badly they handle it.
I'm outside playing the rest of the game.
MA being swallowed by a volcano or destroyed by locusts would make zero difference to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
ARE you kidding.. that would rock.. picture that.. you jump out from mission, call your contact, hear rumble and swarm of locusts tootally devour the MA building.. and that would make no diff? Come on dude.. that would be more exciting then the first time the Rikti invaded. Now which char should I log to farm the locust badge I wonder.. -
[ QUOTE ]
You know, it's weird. I'm only a six month vet and originally found the anti-farmer arguments to be convincing.
However, recent events and threads like this one have put me firmly in the camp of the farmers.
I just fail to see the harm in what they do (barring exploits like the Rikti comm officers, which I believe should've been fixed without any retroactive punishment, now).
More than anything else, the vehemence and vitriol displayed by certain "anti-farmers" have changed my mind.
I play my game for the fun I have in it. I've no problem teaming with either my SG mates or a PuG. Thanks to the MA Arc feedback in this forum and the MA tags, I've no problem finding MA arcs I want to play.
Now if a six-month old can do this, then surely more senior vets can do this, as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think most farmers are against the exploits. I also think most players are farmers tho most are ignorant to that fact. Some of those anti-farm town criers are in fact just being hypocritical.. they hate all farmer because they cna't find anyone to help them farm the sewers, or run all around Cap with them to farm the gremlin and/or cold demon badges.
I often find the logic in thier arguement somewhat flawed.
"We should punish the farmers.. ban them the game will be better for it"
"Everyone is farming so I can't find a team"
hmmmmm. So all the farmers that they hate and wouldn't team with anyways will make better teammates when they can no longer play.. no wait.. I think I'm close.. can another anti-farmer step up and clear this up for me? -

I dissagree, while there are things I don't like about elec it's avery strong set. Ask the group of 30 MoBs still standing doing their emotes and taunt even tho they have no hit points due to a sudden bolt of lightning.. or the big boss who can't fire his alpha because he has no end.
True damage is subjective as it depends what ressistance the enemy has to your damage type, but highest DPS is and has been calculated.. and is with no doubt fire.. on side note another # cruncher crunched all the NPC data and found fire is the least ressisted in the PVE game followed by NRG I believe. -
I know what what you mean Electric feels slow. And the sounds makes me feel like I missed even when I hit. lol
You'll like SS, plays very fast and smooth, it's more single target set then most until you get footstomp but those STs don't live long.
Fire Melee has highest DPS and highest dam/end use.
I like DM feels tough and I like the look.
As for secondary.. rock and dark are end hogs and will drive you nuts slotting endreducs till higher lvls.
WP and inv are both great sets with any primary and will make you feel very powerful, thier biggest downfall in my opinion is you will want every power in the set. lol
I haven't played much with reflexes, but when I did I had a blast. It's very quick and like elec comes with that 20% rech and move bonus. -
In future rants please try to say something I dissagree with.

So if a lieutenant-only map is harder, but gives less, than a boss-only map... would ya do it?
I'm thinking that Nemesis all-lieuts would be tougher than all-bosses.
On the original topic, I'm thinking that mixed bosses might be harder. The proverbial Rularuu Mix is pretty ugly.
Are you taking applications for custom groups of badguys?
[/ QUOTE ]
not for many ATs. A map full of any one type of creature is weaker threat-wise (Exception being a map of all AVs as have enjoyed few times) And find it hard to think that ANY map full of LTs could be harder then fighting Statesman or Lord Recluse. -
[ QUOTE ]
If this is your first char, I'd say just play and pick what feels good, get experience, play around.
Getting advice is one thing, but getting a full build will make it feel like it really isn't your character.
That being said, SS has great mitigation in it, so don't be afraid to pick up an attack that says it can knockdown enemies.
And Fire Aura doesn't provide you with knockdown protection for yourself, so you'll want to go the Leaping pool for you movement to get Acrobatics to cover this, or spend lots of influence you probably don't have an Invention Origin Enhancers to cover this hole.
[/ QUOTE ]
Go more with first thing, play around see what is fun and feels right to you.. as for advice it will change evertime you ask someone diff.. he says get 3 powers from leaping to fix kb.. someone else says just get hover and prob fixed.. 3rd guy says both first 2 crazy wasting any of those chances for better power when can just slot 1 IO KB proc.. very easy to get these days. Who's right? all.. none.. who knows.. you play and pick what sounds best and coolest, and you decide. The game allows us many chances to change our powers now if pick wrong.. so basically, you can't pick wrong. -

Have they been making finding a normal team in Atlas almost impossible? Have they been ruining a fantastic addition to the game by clogging the MA lists with pointless missions?
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol no and they still not. The only "ruin" to the "fantastic edition". Was that the devs increased MA difficulty and lower the xp value to much less then regular game content.
And they have no effect on "normal" teams either that I can see with the one exception that the old favorite Atlas farm the sewer run is less chosen then MA.
I've had no problem finding teams outside of MA farms.. in fact due to the greater player base teams have been more plentiful. Then again I've never been real big on FARMING the sewers in atlas so saw no reason to complain about MA farmers not joining my sewer farm.
As to the self appointed rent-a-cop thing.. it's your money buddy.. if you get off policing other peoples leisures activitities more power to ya.. me I pay to play tho.. I see a farm I got no interest in I move on. Actually since you would be looking for non-farms your list would exclude the single maps in favor of story arcs. Unless of course you are intentionally looking for farm map to complain about.. but hey.. like said it's your 15 bucks, enjoy it however ya want -

At first I thought Felicia was just outspoken about defending her SG in the other thread, now I am leaning more towards condescending and outlandish.
No, I can't solo Romulus 4 times in under 1 minute. Nobody can. It's impossible to SOLO romulus 4 times in under 1 minute, no single character in this game has both the damage output and the resistance. If there is, seriously, PM me so the dev's don't know our haxXxor.
It would at least be nice if you mentioned your teammates(who may or may not have been your SG mates on that specific team to watch you solo Romulus in record time).
[/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking well hey, maybe with a Shivan and Warburg nuke but that is still like 15 seconds each kill, less actually because it takes him a few seconds to rez up each time.
So what do you use, Felicia, to kill him in like 10 seconds?

First I would like to point out that in test there originally was an AE building in Croatoa because it didnt fit the zone esthetically. With this in mind I would like to start a petition for removing the Architect Entertainment building from Atlas Park for the fallowing reasons:
1. Atlas Park is the most popular place for new characters to start their career. As such it is automatically a highly populated zone and is prone to lag for this very reason.
2. During double XP weekends there is almost always two or more Atlas Parks. on a normal basis there is only two. Since the addition of the AE building the two instances of Atlas Parks is a constant. What will happen when we get another double XP weekend with two instances of Atlas Parks already? Many people do not have a computer set up to handle the kind of lag due to graphics and population as the next person.
3. The placement of the AE building in Atlas Park makes farming allot easier and in unintentional design it encourages it. Level one characters now are able to start getting power leveled immediately instead of having to take the trek to Paragon Island. Through my personal play experience it seems like Paragon Island has dropped in popularity dramatically and Atlas park farming related Broadcasts has overridden the new character chatter.
4. There is an AE building in Galaxy City already and its not being used because the zone is usually a ghost town in the popularity department. If the AE in Atlas Park is removed see if there are enough people out there who feel the way I dothe ability for level one characters to go all the way to level 50 using just the AE system is still doable. If the farming community goes to galaxy City instead of Atlas Park all the more power to them.
This is not ment to start heated discussions. It is only to see if enough people agree with me and show the Devs that Atlas Park is being harmed by the existence of the AE building. Thank you.

1. Traffic on the beach road takes me hours to drive home.. yet hardly anyone travels the 1 block back road. Perhaps if they move the tourist atractions ab lock off the beach I can drive the beacvh road with less traffic. ... Hmm sounds to me like you should either enjoy th eslow ride or, I dunno take the other road maybe?
2.Many people do not have set up that can handle the lag. Yet still choose one of the 2 most populated servers to play on. O.O
Favorite line: But there is no one on the other servers.. this has been said to me by group of friends (10 of them standing around atlas, note that 8 is max limit for a team) all complaining of lag, but no one on other server to play with...hmmmmm.
3. Trust me. Of all the game content it does not "encourage" farming the most. For me that would be say desire to by IOs. Or to have purple sets (unobtainable without farming, well unless your char is on the 5-10 year plan for slotting)...badges..etc. In fact altho the new players are mostly unaware.. the MA xp nerfs has once again made the most profitable farm in Atlas the sewer run again.
And main reason for placement in first zone is it was meant as alternative to the regular game for those who have experienced the lower lvl content 100s-1000s of times.
4. shifting the problem..hmm that could work.. kinda like when you put all the dirty dishes in the next room... just as good as cleaning them, right?

Just out of curiosity... I like having all of the following pools on my stoner:
speed,
fitness,
teleport,
fighting
Obviously you can't give up fighting or fitness since that would kind of defeat what you were trying to do with the build above.... so which of the other two do you skip to get leadership.... or do you just skip both?
[/ QUOTE ]
Speed pool is the one i skipped. That build was just a example of what can be gotten with IO's and weave/manuevers for defense.
My granite tank is built to tank the MOSTF and is perma granite so i've negated alot of run speed debuff and some of the recharge and damge debuffs so it preforms really well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mine is same build, need hasten for granite, no SS tho.
Leadership is weakest link, so would not take.. an extra .29 end draw for a 2.25 def bonus in maneuvers? rigggghht. I got set bonuses that give me twice that for no end draw.
Leadership pool is bad for any melee AT. the bonuses are way under other AT's in same pool. -
[ QUOTE ]
tough and weave on a stone tank is like medicine pool on an emp. i mean seriously...you can cap the resistance you need to and if you want, take all the optional other armors, then take every power in your secondary and STILL have room for fitness, a travel, and 3 epic pool powers. i could see taking it ONLY if you plan being non granite
[/ QUOTE ]
O.o
True not needed for "average" playstyle, but to try to run a granite solo through the missions I run mine thru and you WILL NOT survive without tough and weave. In fact my granite.. fully slotted res/def in tough/weave/granite often cannot survive.
And yes with team support rock can be uber without tough/weave .. but then slap an sb, your other team buffs and target your heals thru/on ANY tank and guess what... -

Bodyguard mode splits damage up among all eligible pets and the Mastermind. Each pet gets one share of damage and the Mastermind gets two... so even one pet provides 33% effective resistance while all six combined provide 75%.
As to what exactly constitutes an eligible pet, all of the following must apply for a given pet to be counted toward Bodyguard:
<ul type="square">[*]Defensive stance[*]any order other than Attack[*]within Supremacy range (60 feet)[*]In line of sight[/list]If all of those conditions apply, the pet is Bodyguarding you. Bodyguard does not suppress when you are stunned, held, etc... but if your pets run out of Supremacy range or around a corner then you do lose Bodyguard. Even something as simple as a pillar between you and a pet can break line of sight and remove that pet's contribution... the easy way to check is to enable pet buff icons. If a pet is on Defensive Follow, Defensive Goto, or Defensive Stay and has the Supremacy buff icon then it's protecting you.
A couple of tips...
First, you don't always need all your pets in Bodyguard. Assigning two or three to Defensive Follow and making macros that order the others to attack your target lets you reduce incoming damage by half or more while still focusing your heavy hitters' fire.
Second, if you are worried about AoEs and have ranged pets you can use Defensive Stay or Goto to position them away from yourself, but still within 60 feet, and then taunt the enemy. Those pesky AoEs will be hitting you and not the pets, and Bodyguard will keep you alive. Very handy against some EBs and those annoying CoT Succubi.
Finally, edit the pre-existing pet macros or make your own. You can drag command icons from the pet window onto your power bar to make macros that have the same icon as the pet commands... just edit them to do what you want after you drag them. I suggest removing stance from the macros altogether... make them just "Stay", "Attack", "Follow" or "Goto". Then leave the pets on Defensive mode full time unles you want to run past enemies (go to Passive) or cut loose in a Mayhem mission (Aggressive). That way you always have Bodyguard unless you specifically order an attack, and if do order them to attack hitting any other command instantly makes them bodyguard you again. You can use the pet window buttons or additional macros or binds to change stance, and when you do the same Attack, Goto, etc... macros still work with the new stance.

Question about this....does bodyguard mode ever suppress? I was in a bank mission yesterday and got held/stunned; it seemed like when I was I was taking the brunt of the damage, even though I thought I was in Def/Follow mode. My minions still seemed relatively healthy. Or was it just that my share of the burst damage was that large?
[/ QUOTE ]
If a pet is in defensive follow, it's in body guard. No that doesn't suppress. However if it's in attack, goto, or stay mode it's no longer a bodyguard.
[/ QUOTE ]
Think this is wrong, pretty sure BG mode is activee as long as pets are in defrnsive and within range. The GOTO that comes free with MM is GOTO AGGRESSIVE.. simply make your own GOTO DEFENSIVE, do not send them to far and they will still split your damage. -

Rude = insinuating yourself into my fight when I do not want your help. If I wanted help, I'd form a team. If I did not want to fight I would have fled.
I'm not interested in "killing faster". I'm interested in "challenging fights", testing my character's abilities (and my player skills) to the limit. I want to see "can I take these five +3 freakshow" or some such, and your drive by debuff just removed a big chunk of my fun because you assumed I both want and need your help, when that should be my call, not yours.
So yeah, I think it's rude.
Same with drive by buffing. Every time I get hit by a random speed boost or ice shields, I have to go sit and wait for them to wear off so I can continue with what I was doing. (If I'm doing open world fights, I'm usually testing a build or a power, it's hard to test something when someone else keeps throwing something new into the mix).
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you can safely say that your play-style (and choice to solo in an MMO) are not the dominant choices among your fellow players (not that you shouldn't do either). Therefore, people will assume they are helping and swoop in to do so... we ARE playing heroes after all (or a case of honor among thieves if you are playing red). Either way, I would assume most people do not realize that they are, in effect, unintentionally griefing you.
I think the dominant response to a drive-by buffing or debuffing is a "Thanks, dude" or the like... Heck, in AP I have even gone Dwarf with my PB so that I could Taunt enemies helping a lowly troller to actually be able to kill them. He thanked me for the help and we teamed for a bit with him as an SK, was a good time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, saw MM in trouble scrambling .. all pets dead and yellow, while running an alt to lvl, attacked an stole the aggro so dude could recover and only used brawl to hold aggro, guy type "idiot" lol was like dam dude, sorry for helpin ya..
Pretty sure the devs posted their stance on this few years back.. If another joins you in fight in open PvE it's not griefing it is playing the game "as intended". If a player wants a private spawn all to self to kill they are expected to spawn instsnces. Not exact wording they used but pretty sure it was the meaning of what they said. -

Storm is -not- the best 1v1 mastermind build.
Storm is absolutely the best anti-Mastermind build, though. Virtually nothing in MMs really can deal with storm. Traps -could- place its -def away from the stormie, so that it doesn't get hurricaned. This does not really work in practice. Poison could weaken hurricane (and powerboost + weaken is very powerful) but even still it does not gimp the mass knockback, whch ruins your pets' dps and in the end storm wins the war.
I've never straight up -dueled- GV's necro/storm but I've fought against it in team matchups where the teams were roughly equal except for his necro/storm and my mercs/psn. The necro/storm completely dominated that match, even though I stayed on him and kept weaken on him pretty much the whole time. I just spent so much of my time knocked around or stunned by tornado that occasionally weaken would drop and I'd be -tohit janked for ever. The big thing that eventually happened is that my pet recharges eventually couldn't keep up with the necro/storm's dps and I died.
Regarding /pain MMs, they are invincible more or less if WoP is up and they have even competent slotting. Take out their minions with AoE if you can, or just ST burst them down. You want to try and get them down to 1-2 pets if you can. If you can do that, they'll be forced to run or phase. If this sounds too difficult, let me tell you - it is too difficult.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pain hardly ever gives me problems. They can't cause enough debuffs (-to hit, -fear, -slow) that other sets can. Sure they are a great healer, but if you strategize correctly, a /pain can be a cake walk. You just have to know which pets to take down first, and when to turn all your pets on the MM. For thugs, I take down the arsonist, then bruiser, then MM. I don't even worry about gang war anymore, they just don't do that much damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't say I've PvPed with or against many (if any) storm MMs or pain. But have love for storms chaos on other ATs of mine, can see how it would be an MMs nightmare to face. As for pain, at first thought it would be great for PvP due to the 400% regen aura but at the cost of not having any noteworthy debuffs am forced to rethink that opinion. Sure it heals, but so does dark while dropping acc, regen an other nasty crap to opponent. And have faced plenty poison, something you don't want to do on any non MM, the single targ debuffs are the worste.
Have not practiced this theory but since play a thug PvE would think good strategy, for pet to kill, would be enforcers.. as pretty much the only hench with no built in res or def the sets only pprotection (apart from players personal buffs) comes from them. In fact without the enforcers most hench cannot hit their target.
Your steamy mist's +15% nrg/fire/cold res and it.s 3.75% def boost may seem great to you but when applied to a creature I'm fiighting that's -3 my lvl it's just not enough.
Taking out enforcers drops hench def by quite a bit, as well as damage/acc and overall morale, know when my enforcers drop I start to get a little worried -

[ QUOTE ]
Any good MM slots for pet recharge and scatters their pets to keep them out of AoE. Pain pets actually have a huge advantage since they can hit through debuffs a lot better thanks to WoP. Most MMs can't even kill a pain in BG, and a good pain has a minion resummon every 30 seconds-ish which is way faster than you can kill them without dropping BG. Any smart MM that sees his pets going down faster than he is is going to go into partial BG and make you pay grievously.
[/ QUOTE ]
Reallly? slot for recharge?
Admittedly I don't play MMs as much as I used to, but when i do, my summin pet powers are the only powers that are always up and they have no recharge as most have not started sets (older MMs are pre-IO an newer ones are too low to blow that kinda money on.), Can't see makin them recharge faster as more useful. Now ACC and Damage slotting to make up for the lvl diff 'tween hench and your enemies, that would seem better. -
[ QUOTE ]
Cuz i'm having a blast with mine. Let me tell you, ninja/dark should be the new FOTM. I haven't had a problem with any ATs giving me trouble. Sometimes i'll go 0-0 with a Fire tank. But i've managed to beat a good thugs/pain (gang war is crazy!), robot/traps, ill/storm, and various corruptors and blasters. If anyone needs some good advice for ninja/dark feel free to ask. I also went a very unconvetional patron power pool for pvp.
Oh and for PVE build, i'll get tells every once and awhile about asking for help with EBs and by the time the owner of the mission gets fully buffed up the EB is usually already dead. Ninjas/Dark ftw!
[/ QUOTE ]
EBs? you aim too low.. ninja/dark has much more power then that. Before they added the "I gotta make em chase me thru whole zone" AI feature to GMs mine would often hunt an killl Deathsurge solo.. and for me when I say solo.. I mean no temp pets or temp nukes, just me, my primary and 2ndary powers.
But haven't PvPed since the "changes". Plan to again one day, when the bad taste left from them nerfing my brutes leaves.. maybe.
