I missed the Dev posts that said that. But that's not surprising.. I miss alot

I am possitive however the MM I first tested BG mode with on test and the ninja/dark I played regularly on live both PvE and PvP used a macro I had made for the tray.. I know most prefer keybinds but I'm a clicker
The macro I used most often to set myself as bait in PvP was:
/macro stayD Petcom_all STAY DEFENSIVE

and in pve would like to set walls with my guys using same petcom_all but "goto Defensive" to haave them block doors or halls etc.

also when in First few months of BG live played a merc to maybe 22-23 before I got tired of him. Often used a macro I named 911 that was PETCOM_NAME medic goto defensive, that kept him BG but would also force him to heal who you wanted healed.

I think the wrong assumption that follow (and other commands) were not covered by BG comes from the supplied follow button with MMs.. IT's new as was not around in MMs beginning unless you made your own or clicked and drug them from the hench tab advanced. It's also misleading as it is named "Follow" so you assume that your pets in Def told to follow are still def. However when next on your MM right click it and choose edit. You will see the command line contains the word AGGRESSIVE.. simply overwrite this word with DEFENSIVE and your FOLLOW button is now set to BG mode.

Question about this....does bodyguard mode ever suppress? I was in a bank mission yesterday and got held/stunned; it seemed like when I was I was taking the brunt of the damage, even though I thought I was in Def/Follow mode. My minions still seemed relatively healthy. Or was it just that my share of the burst damage was that large?

If a pet is in defensive follow, it's in body guard. No that doesn't suppress. However if it's in attack, goto, or stay mode it's no longer a bodyguard.

Think this is wrong, pretty sure BG mode is activee as long as pets are in defrnsive and within range. The GOTO that comes free with MM is GOTO AGGRESSIVE.. simply make your own GOTO DEFENSIVE, do not send them to far and they will still split your damage.

They would have had to change it to be other then just defensive follow. Here, I'll log into Poison Bloom and test once again


The test will be done in four parts. I'll use a custom tab with damage taken being shown, and erase it after each test. The top item will be the test number. I'll try getting the same enemy type hitting me first each time. This will be on challenge level 1 at level 50

Step One: take damage with pets in passive mode for a control number.

Result: 68.02 damage

Step Two: take damage with pet in defensive goto

Result: 25.09 damage

Step Three: take damage in defensive stay

Results: Haven't done this one yet, the mission threw an EB at me, not a good way to test these things...

Step Four: take damage in defensive follow

Result: 16.73 damage

Ok, I'm big enough to admit being wrong. It use to be just defensive follow, and I'm not sure when they changed it. I try keeping up on the patch notes, and never saw anything about it.

It's alway been defensive anything.. tested BG mode before it went live.. made many macros... honest I used GOTO DFENSIVE macro several times in every mission, both pre-live and in live after release.

This just reminds me way too much of back when I first started playing a troller (before CoV ) I took combat invis and had a blast playing that guy until one night ran into a group of people who could tell me how to make a better version of my troller, and first thing was to drop combat invis and get the PBAoE group invis. It makes you way better .. teams will love you more. Back the you got 3 respecs total.. I burnt my first in low 20s or pre-teens range, to take thier advice. The guy that was a blast turned to crap. The uber team invis had a recharge that left gaps in your invis as pre-SO you could not slot enough rech. worse the end drain was HUGE making it uncastable in combat with no endreduc SOs.

So as far as other peeps opinions on what teams favor and what is better.. pffff.

Take it from me I've been here alittle over 4 years and carry a 2nd account for other tp play here also.. it sucks.. the main reason why I've been here so long

Nothing but cons is this game.. like the fact the devs keep turning out new and cool different powersets and costumes and make me make 100s of character that they know I'll never get the chance to play them all. Then to make it worse they keep adding new content all the time so while trying to play my new guys all the sudden I have to pull old guys to experience the new stuff with.

Now as I'm still exploring all the wonderful new combonations I can make out of shield (the new power they inflicted on us, making many of us have to delete chars to make new ones.

They come out and say they are going to add a moral compasss to the game where we can make choices that will alter our characters from hero to villian and vise versa, I'm sure it will come with a couple new power sets that will look awesome have to tried to.

In short if you value having any life outside of this game run.. run now, screaming loudly with ears plugged. Or soon you to will suffer the laughs and jests of co-workers and friends who know from the circles you once again got hardly any sleep as were on a cool team you didn't want t o leave.

Air Superiority does so many useful things I really miss it when I play a character that doesn't have it. It stops runners. It takes care of flying Freaks, Malta, and other nuisances. It takes any single mob out of the fight for several seconds, and as such adds valuable mitigation, at least solo or in small teams.

vouche for that, its huge solo. Makes an alt that has trouble with a red LT all the sudden able to beat a purple con boss. Boss gets one attack you pow KD run your attack chain as hee gets up, time it right an pow he's on butt again, no attack, heck even miss time it he gets one attack, and you get to cycle your chain some more while he stands. And it recharges faster then a single MoB will stand.

i don't think i can really argue against this unless a developer comes out and says "character slots take up huge amounts of space and disproportionately slow down the server" or something, but it seems odd to me to have so much space full of things that can't possibly be used that often

then again, it's likely that there is someone here who will post about how they play every one of their 53 characters for at least 2 hours a week so i may as well just give up now

Naw, would say that after investing a great deal of time into creating a character and have played him up into the 30s range it kills me to just delete him because I'm only playing him once or twice a month now. Why am I playing him less?, same thing always happens the darn DEV come up with some new AT like shields with infinite possibilties of what look like would be fun matchups. Maybe that new magic booster with the cool hat and cape and hood has sparked my interest in a new wizard-like char. You might think hey just go to tailor and make new costume. But for me making a character's name costume and powers all kinda fit are part of the fun. An old world wizard named cyberbot overtkill just doesn't hold the same appeal to me.

when I ran out of room on my home server, I moved. now all 36 slots on my new home are full. Not all 50s nor can I play them all at once, some may go months before I play again but I love everyone of my characters and it breaks my heart everytime I have to delete a lvl 35 blaster *hangs head in rememberance of Cap'n Power nrg/nrg* we had some great times my friend.

The sadness of how my lvl 50 nrg/wp tank will no longer be able to team with my friends as I broke down and had him transfered also to make room for a set that I've not tried but looks ripe with creative ideas for hero or villian.. the WM/Shield. (poor guy not only thrown out of his own house but was stripped of his name too as Supreme Power was taken on his new offworld colony)

I love axe (even with the redraw, and can see it in fights sometimes.. heck had it anchor me once due to lag) and WM
SCTHUNK!!! as you cleave into your enemies chest with the axe.

FWUMPP!! as bash dudes skull in.

I would not ignore you. I play many different ways depending on the moo.d at the time. But I did want to throw another view-point at you. While playing regular low-lvl content feels super to you, to many other it's like superman in the 50s .. invulnerable/ indestructable, and fighting average joe the car-jacker. Many times I want to play a game where I'm not in 50s fighting easy predictable pixels. I want to be Supes in the 90s fighting Doomsday. And in this game that would be chars like Lord Recluse. While I respect your choice to slowly limp your way their, as have done so many times and have RP chars doing so now, I still have some guys that I just want to get to the "Super" part of the game.

In the manual to one of the early versions I bought the devs said "The real game doesn't begin until your mid 30s." Interesting that now they want t oslow me down if I choose to skip the what? unreal game? fake game? whatever lol

edit: more accurately I guess the devs didn't say it. It woulda been the press people.. PR.. whoever package the prduct for NCSOFT

I was around lvl 42 with my first toon (2-3 months of playtime, 5 hours a night) before I learned what a global channel was or led my first team.

I teamed up with the same group every night and they didn't participate in global channels.

The arguement that farmed characters lvl too fast and don't understand the basics of the game is only one I kinda understand as the little evil part of me wants to go what? learn to play! lol

But the real deal is this, if I truly consider myself that much better or greater player then this guy then the REAL hero that know the game does not spurn the newbie, but teaches thme what they need to know.

Globals are not what I would consider basic mechanics of the game. Pretty sure when I started they did not exist. Yuppers.. See no real diff. I started playing i2 and freedom Bcast has always been full of non zone appropriate lvls talking about any old crazy thing. The lvl 6 guy lookin for a team but can't find? saw him back in issue 2 also he's 6 lft.. I do story arc mision or 2 now I who first heard him at lvl 2 am 5. Jump in aqnother couple missions. I'm 6 at this point the story progression has forced me into the Hollows.. lost lvl 6 guy is still in atlas.. lost. Feel bad for him but today just not in mood to explain how you run story arc.
That was back i3 ish.. currently my chars by 6 are in KR and have no problem finding lvl appropriate team as well, that's where you go now 6-10 to get temp travels, and new contact. Somewhere inside I'm sure I'll feel guilkty by leaving lost guy behind, but today wasn't my day to help the lost? As I'm guessing you sat there listening to poor lvl 6 musta said to yourself, in zone full of higher lvls that didn't belong yet didn't say, hey buddy, there's about 8-12 paper/bank teams your lvl running in KR looking for more.. your just out of place alittle. Sure there is lvl 6 content in atlas but who of the older players still runs it? The hated blue side sprint back and forth 'tween 4 diff zones for no reward and with no move power.

I don't see all that on other serverss as much. Most my friends back in i2-i3 would log onto Freedom just for laughs.. all the lvl1 s standing around the statue not playing, all the blatantly obvious new lost palyers that don't have clue yet also skipped tutorial and no one would really help. Freedom was nicknamed the noob server, when bored we would go there and help newbie figure out whats up every so often, but would never play there. In fact around i4 I started playing freedom more and my lvl 33 tank joined a team of 2 other lvl 33ish guys.. we stood around for few mins, and I said " so you going to pick a mission? Anythings cool with me." Leader said "I don't know how, can you do it?"

By same token since Atlas is a low lvl zone and was never intending to be a party/dance CC costume or ERP club. Why then should the farmers have the burden of moving when YOU are not using the game as intended?

And to clear something up. The devs are attempting to stop
"EXPLOIT" farmers. You are complaining about boss farming.. unlike the former the reward=risk and while may not be how they "want" you to play, but is NOT against any rules and the devs are not trying to stop it. In fact they started writing thier own boss farms. Adding the wonderful all CoT boss mission very early in the Midnighter's story arc. RISK = REWARD is the goal, very hard to balance in game w/ so many diff powers, but the boss farms arre tougher then the content you play and yes the rewards should be greater.

And regardless of your opinion of farming the way they abuse the broadcast system in Atlas and make anything else happening in broadcast impossible is not right.

The main idea behind a boss farm is to get the same challenge lvl of game play as you would in a tough tf/sf, but without committing to a 3-6 hr ordeal of the TF/SF.

Atlas: What is up with atlas? Why does everyone think they have to hang out there? This guy says he shouldn't have to leave Atlas to get away from farm spam O.o
If you really are a "legit" player why are you hanging out in Atlas? Of my experience Blue side Atlas is at best what 5% of the story, and that may be setting it too high. Also the whole having to listen to unwanted spam. That problem was fixed many issues ago. WE can now edit our chat boxes to view anything we want. Set up diff tabs and everything. Even, now this will trip you out.. right click on the guy who's repeatedly annoying you with whatever and choose to ignore him. Yet no one wants to use these features

Onthat note.. I just can't take this thread anymore and do not want to see it again it is ruining my game. So I'll check back in an hour an see what else I can find that irks me.

the first line: I thought the first ban was based on # of people reporting the story. So Basically I could not like that someone for any reason get my friends together and say "bann the punk." I guess I kinda see where the anti-farm spam thing is coming from.. sewer has 5 letters .. MA FARM is 6 letters and a space.
Effectively adding 2 more characters per line in my Broadcast window. Why I could hardly enter a mission myself.. with all those extra letters floating about those weeks.

on the hit 50 reroll thing, hope your not doing this due to the older not up with the new changes CoX crowd that still likes to say there is no end game. If you stop at 50 you have not reach the top.. lvl progression stops at 50. but you keep improving with sets and eventually the uber purple sets. Anmd the diff 'tween a "finished" 50 with purple sets and a I quit him to make new one is greater then just a lvl or 2.. the setted one will out perform the non in everyway at all lvls of play.

and plant matches # of AoE targets and range of AoE attacks, dam, dam/end etc of earth .. only real diff I can see is -def earth, but that never seemed to matter much to me, like any other set, just means diff acc slotting.

So as one who play troller occassionally but never really got into em, I would also like to know what makes everyone say earth is the best? Not that I doubt you all more experienced controller player.. just ussually like a little real data before I buy what Johnny Joe says is fact.

True perhaps in "real missions", but that does not mean it does not happen regular game content. Few years ago I woulda thought you were describing RV. 3 AVs will spawn every time one side gains more turrets then other.. accomplishable easily within 1-20 mins w/ pretty small group. And the AVs would be in zone with "laughably pathetic" foes known as PvPers.

My laptop runs CoX better then my desktop and with no lag even while wifi.. I'm very impressed. It cost me 1500 about a year ago. Would have been less if I felt same about portability, but went wide screen for gaming view.

It's a Toshiba Qosmio duo cpu p7350 2.00ghz (x2) 4GB ram 64 bit.. walked into best buy found me the geakiest looking tech freak I saw told him my game and that I wanted a laptop to run it.. he shows me the 3 top floor models at time,said all would play great.. I went most expensive just to be covered for future possible higher game requirements. hehe

Only problem with an SG terminal is only the people in the SG can use it to form teams.

Now this would be great if you want t o use it as a Danger Room, however you couldn't use it to form teams with people in other zones.

Not true an sg terminal can only be used by sg members but that does not mean the sg member cannot invite non sg people to his/her team.. Just like the SG TF.. when it worked only the star holder needed to be sg member.

BTW that was a hint in there : Battling Beastman, Cheif Aghurub (Shaawing), Solar Fire Sr., Prixy, ScrapHer (Kassey), Pyreklism, and Emprad all know the secret to Romulus and all of them can solo him 4 times in 60 seconds!

PS: SOLUN is on the right track, but i dont use nukes, they are too slow to take effect, Romulus should be down and out before you can use a nuke!

And if you can solo him in those quite obviously (can-only-be-an-exploit) times does what you said earlier about only completing TFs with Beastman on the team with the exception of the 2-3 times with the other people you named still stand? Which leads me to one last question.. you really do think we are all very dumb to believe anyone so powerful could not pull even the worst PuG from fail to win, don't you?

I don't think anyone here "expects" you to be nice and tell how you do it. We all just figure you are lying and are saying prove it. Cuz if just saying so is enough.. this one time at band camp, the Rikti invaded and no one was online but me.. so I soloed the whole invasion,spawned the EBs all by myself and got ALL the badges even tho it was that chars first invasion. I'm not saying it was easy.. when Deathsurge jumped in I almost went down. But after I sloed DS was able to kill the last 4 rikti EB. AND I was only lvl 24 at the time. I'd tell how I did it but I don't trust you. But it's cool because everyone that I was teamed with when I soloed all those spawns knows how to do it too.
