    Salvage supplies

level 10-14 is where you want to roll. Various -kb IOs, the steadfast res/def, regne tissue +regen, some basilks gaze and eradication IOs.
  3. its a bug the pools should grant access to all powers at appropriate levels. Castle knows and they will eventually be fixed.

It seems to rely on "stabilizing supply" which "stabilizes prices", but the fact is if people who wanted to use stuff could get it for the price that a flipper or manipulator got it at, then no one would have to pay more than that cost, thus there'd be no further demand, thus the costs would be stable, and lower.

Now, Goat came in with an example I can sort of understand: badgers who unintentionally screw with market prices trying to get their badges. However, to assume that badgers are the sole cause of item destruction, and as a result price inflation due to lack of supply, would be laughable.

And i noticed that so far everyone's been discussing salvage. What about RESPEC RECIPES? Y'know, those things Smurphy made zillions of inf on by flipping? Or Purples? Maybe prices wouldn't be so high if everyone who wanted to equip them could have bought them by now, but were denied when someone else bought and re-listed.

On the theme of the thread, i'd make all items "locked" on the -second- character to own it. So you could have something drop and sell it, but the character who bought it or had it given to them couldn't get rid of it, short of destroying it. There'd probably end up being some hoarding (oooh, what if i need this eventually?!) but i doubt that'd do any more to raise prices than what flippers and manipulators do already.
If there was no demand there would be no supply shortly there after. If every single player had a set of 5 luck of the gamblers for ever character slot they have - people would simply stop trying to sell them because no one would want to buy them.

Salvage is most likely the highest volume item on the market - while pvp IOs, purples and respec recipes are the lowest due to extreme rarity. What this means is that the rarer something is the more it will be effected by inflation and manipulation.

Others have refereed to supply as a river, but the ultra rare items are more like a safely guarded tap. Those that get the supply have much more control over the cost because there is less competition. Combine that with the natural inflation in an MMO and prices on such items will likely increase over time.

Prices on normal rarity items will vary wildly but flippers normalize them by competing for sales. If I have that rare salvage you want and so does Fulmens, who will you buy from ? Me listing at 1,999,999 or Fulmens listing at 1,499,999 ? The general value of a rare salvage hovers around 2 million influence - players expect to pay that much because the salvages sell at that price often enough to reinforce that price point.

When you decide to buy the salvage for 2 million you will buy Fulmens salvage and not mine because he listed it lower than I did. You could have gotten the salvage for 1.5m and saved 500k. The trick here is - did you bother to try ? Did you care about saving 500k ?

The more people that care about how much they pay - the more likely it is we could see prices come down. The problem is people can make 100m a day with almost no effort, and so they dont care to save 500k - so they bid 2 million on the rare salvage when they could have gotten it at 1.5 instead.

This laziness lets players sell at 2 million consistently because that is what buyers have decided they are willing to pay.

Also, regarding supply, bidding low on something and getting it is taking supply out of the market. You just deprived someone else of getting the item for that price who intended to use it. Then you relist it out of their price range. How is that keeping prices low?
Realistically, you can earn 100 million influence a day with almost no effort. Prices should not be a problem for anyone. 1k, 10k 100k for a salvage - its all the same - chump change.

If you don't make that kind of influence a day - take up running AE missions and alignment missions once in a while to pad your influence by selling good recipes /crafted IOs on the market.

If you are that poor that 100k is so penny pinching for you - you need to examine how to increase your influence gain.

salvage prices are minuscule compared to what you could earn if you wanted to bother trying. The market is not a store and the items are not always for discounted prices. Patience is required or you have to pay higher prices. Demanding that you should never pay more than 500 influence ( or whatever arbitrarily low value you want) is absurd in a pvp market place.

Stop being lazy and earn more influence or just stop whining. You are not entitled to under costed prices because the market is not a store. You could alternately attempt to understand how pricing and patience works but that is probably impossible.

    Therefore, flipping = bad. =)

To put it another way, let's say you went to the grocery store for a can of soup. No prices are listed, but you talk to some store staff and they tell you the cans tend to go for 3-5 dollars a piece. Perplexed at not being able to get a straight answer, you grab a can anyway and go up to the cash register, where someone else is buying the same can of soup. You overhear that they got the can for a buck. Sweet, you'll only have to spend a dollar! So you get up to purchase your soup, and the person says "ten bucks".

"What?!" you say "But the person ahead of me got it for one dollar!"

"True, but they waited in line for 2 hours and bought it when we had a 10 second sale going on."

"Well okay, that's stupid... but the other store staff i talked to said it's be only 3 to 5 dollars, not ten!"

"That's the average price, true, but that SPECIFIC can costs 10 dollars. If you want a cheaper one, you'll have to wait around for a cheaper one to become available!"

"Well why're the cans of soup different prices?!"

"Because people stand in line for hours waiting for our ten-second sale, buy up all the cheap cans, then re-sell them back to the store!"

etc etc. I realize this does not accurately reflect a multi-seller market, but that's the perspective of someone who wants to buy something. They go to wentworths (the store) to get their can of soup, and are stimied because they can't pay what THEY WANT to pay for something (or even the last sales price) because someone else bought the last cheap one and re-listed in for twice the price.

Now they CAN place a bid and wait, but i guarantee prices would be much lower across the board if flippers wene't taking the supply and MARKING IT UP out of the prospective buyer's price range. It's too bad we can't stop everyone from flipping or manipulating the market for a week or two, I'd love to see the effect.
The first rule of wentworths is: the market is not a store.
The second rule of wentworths is: the market is not a store.

Thirdly : You are confusing two types of market users. There are flippers and manipulators. What manipulators do is try to raise prices to earn more profit per sale. What flippers do is try to sell as many things as possible as fast as possible.

Fourth: What most people that complain about prices don't understand is that any given item has an equilibrium price. We'll use your can of soup analogy to illustrate. Can of soup sells as low as 1 dollar but can spike to 10 dollars. A reasonable price for a can of soup is 3-5 dollars. What a flipper will do is buy at 1-3 dollars and sell at 4-5 dollars. Flippers know that the cans of soup will not sell above 5 dollars very often, so they cannot be bothered to sell them that high.

Ruoh roh shaggy there is a soup shortage - flippers and manipulators have bought the fresh stock, but that is not the root problem - the soup delivery truck stuck on the highway for another couple hours. Now you won't be able to get soup for under 5 dollars for this time period - simply because the supply of low cost soup has not made it to the store yet. You can wait for the delivery or buy from some flippers for a reasonable price ( remember the lower prices are sales and discounts) or if their supply runs out you can pay twice as much from a manipulator.

The basic problem is the supply of super undercosted items is not constant - it varies throughout the week. Most people that complain dont realize they are complaining about undercosted items and they feel entitled to those lower sales/discounted prices.

It would be like you going to a shop the week after a sale and complaining about the normal cost of a can of soup. Sales/discounts are not always happening, therefore you cannot expect to get those kinds of low prices all the time, flippers or not.
  7. an illusion controller of some kind would be a good candidate as would a warshade.
  8. I would change all TFs that award 20+ merits to reward a random drop and 20 merits less than current values. The removal of random supply was bad for the market.

I'd also add extremely high conversion method for influence to any kind of merit as an influence sink.
  9. Even if I select remember me, the forum keeps logging me out at random. Any ideas on what to do ?

I've been fixing those as the reports make it to my desk. If you happen to see a complete, up to date list someplace, link it to me.
I sent that PM to castle and he requested info I dont have - but I'm sure some of you here do!

    Get on it people!
  11. even when im rocking 20b+, I dont haphazardly spend 400m + on one IO.
  12. Well the person that wrote that email is completely clueless to say the least lol.
  13. this is still a problem Hope it's fixed before issue 19's freespec so that I can use the one I already have.
  14. I have this exact same problem. As far as I can tell it is a timing issue - the pet that spawns the actual attack is not sync'd up properly for every user ( perhaps those of us with some kind of latency). 2 ticks is all I ever get, so I deleted my archery blaster due to the power being "nerf" by 1/3rd for me.

I've mentioned this to castle a couple times but they did nothing about it because they could not reproduce the issue.
  15. for some reason I read the title as decapitation. This is far less scary. Nothing to see here move along...
  16. Just use E-Bil for being rich and ebil for being evil.
  17. When I was operating on one toon I would simply buy up everything I need to make 10 of an IO on the one toon - craft them and list them. Granted I rarely ever wait on salvage bids - ill buy it now on salvage that isn't rare. That keeps market slots open for selling.

You want to find something that is X cost as a recipe and 2X -4X cost as a crafted IO. Generally a good thing to try is to find something with a cost of 20-30m , they will typically cost 10-17m as a recipe. Things like this include various lotg pieces, various pbaoe sets, various melee and ranged sets , basically anything that someone would want it probably sells well.

If you can clear 6-7 IOs a day at a 5m profit lets say, you will have 245m a week. I'll look into some specific ones to help you out tomorrow.
  18. I never even saw 'my future' self - the mission simply completed once I reached the back room.
  19. The patron pools appear to be bugged for tanks ( not sure about other ATs yet). I went villain on my tank and did sirocco's arc. I went to respec and I could not choose the 2nd power in some of the patron pools ( iirc two of them had both powers selectable the others did not).
  20. learn to play in the market and you'll never want for inf. again !
  21. You can do volume sales by using one toon to buy up recipes and salvage - craft 20-40 IOs and then have 2-3 toons selling your stock. Becoming the sole supplier of something is unlikely but you certainly can do volume sales in many, many things. Try Doctored Wounds or Numina IOs at lvl 50 to start.
  22. I dont see them soaring in price for any reason I can see. Now would probably be a reasonable time to sell.
  23. Hmm it seems the problem is dealing damage - with a certain level of -regen you floor, and you are planning on bringing +dam. You seem to have omitted -resistance. Things like Sonic buff( +res for team and -res toggle on tank) and sonic blast (all -res attacks) could help improve that dps problem. Cold, dark and rad also have -res powers so maybe this is not anything helpful.
  24. We should use this thread to setup COP trial attempts and discuss needed tactics.
  25. For a fire primary I would recommend a tank over a brute - fire is flimsy even with added kill speed of brute damage.

A fire tank could reach 25-30% defense to multiple things or likely 30-40% defense to s/l, either route will make you survivable enough to handle most s/l/f mobs well enough to farm at +1 or maybe +2 settings.

Super strength is nice, but I prefer fire's two pbaoe's. Alternately you could still go SS and swap to villain to pick up mu mastery for 2 or 3 more aoe/cone attacks.
