New items are still being added to the Real World Hero Charity Auction. The most recent additions are costume codes for Vicki and the PPD Hardsuit. That brings the total options to 68!
Because the auction page randomly sorts the items, then resorts them after a description window is closed, I keep a spreadsheet. But except for Steelclaw and a handful of others like us, playing with spreadsheets is less than the zenith of entertainment.
Thus this thread is to list the auction items in a way that everyone can see at a glance what is offered for RHW 2011.
Any feedback, comments, or suggestions about the information in this thread are welcome.
==> Remember, bidding closes tonight Friday, December 9, 2011 at 9:00 pm Eastern (6:00 pm Pacific)! <==

The Real World Hero Charity Auction ends tomorrow. Some new hot items are still sneaking in, bringing the total to over 60 options available. Definitely something to interest every City Of Heroes player!
So what items are your favorite this year?
Here are my favorite highlights:
* Zwillinger's Hat 'C'
Zwillinger was awesome to donate his icon to the auction. I'm okay if you let me win this.
* One-on-One Video Tutorial Session with Samuraiko
I have been looking forward to this ever since Samuraiko promised to donate her time for the auction after RHW ended in 2010.
* 2011 COH Freedom Player Summit T-shirt
Wish I could have attended to get one from the swag bag!
* COH/COV Art Collection Book - Signed
2005, a blast from the past. I like pretty pictures, which would explain why I've keep my subscription since it started.
* Your Horrific, Heroic Death as a Secret World Hero
Get my character's name and description in a printed novel by Mercedes Lackey? Ooooh, cool!
* Ghost Widow Doll - by Mercedes Lackey
Sigh. A dream item sadly outside of my budget. Pre-congratulations to whomever snags this!
* Handmade Freedom VIP Scarf and Hat - by Llydia
* Handmade Going Rogue Scarf and Hat - by Llydia
It was because of RWH 2010 and the massive player creativity in the forums that I dared to try making a contribute for the auction. It ended up taking all of 2011 preparing these for the event, but I am pleased with the results. Will I just make another one for myself? Never! That was way to much work!! These are a one-time only opprotunity.
Please post what your favorite items are, too! -
Quote:A Build-A-Bear rep, eh? The people who put together that tree are big fans of the store. They even got a Build-A-Bear passport filled with stamps as they went to stores around the world for the rest of the bears.On a more personal note, the second of those pictures, I recognize almost all of those bears and outfits as they are from the company I work for in the dreaded RL! Where these paid for by the charity drive?? If so, that's awesome work
To answer your question: The bears were paid for by the person who donated the tree to Festival Of Trees.
The person who in turn purchased the tree was a personal friend and so, at my request, they listed the buyer as Real World Hero to support me supporting this charity event, too. -
Re-asking:
TRON
The Dark Crystal
The Last Unicorn
Adding:
War Games
Fifth Element
Disney's Gargoyles (the movie was a shortened version of the first 6 TV episodes)
A Goofy Movie
An Extremely Goofy Movie
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Thank you very, very much for posting all the videos and transcripts, PERC! And extra Thank You to Arkyaeon for recording them!
They were great and everyone made me wish I had thought of a trick or two myself. Rather glad the judges knew how to pick just one, because I sure couldn't!
PS If anyone is serious about making an AE arc using costumes of the finalists, poke me via PM and I'll send you my costume files in exchange for the AE arc number. -
Thank you for the highlights!
-
A snow globe head? With perpetually swirling snow and a little smiling snowman that occasionally frowns?
Bwahahahahaha! *falls over laughing* Oh, oh, oh! Yep, please! Just let me know when it goes to the Freedom Market and I'll be the first in line to buy it! I'll pay double if it gets released at the same time as a Christmas Tree for titan weapons. -
Dr T - Well, that's just frustrating. Was going to propose we put this on Zwillinger's radar again if it is not WAI. But if even after seeing official patch notes the answer is "No", I can't think what would help.
newchemicals - Yeah, good idea. Except for badges I, for one, will not run the longer incarnate trials like UG until the reward drops are truly fixed. -
Thanks is to you, PERC, for hosting a great event and taking on all the extra work of getting demos since character transfers were unavailable.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's finals later this week!
~Happy Little Butterfly -
Just got a few pictures in and had to share.
Once again at the Festival Of Trees several bidders used the name "Real World Hero" instead of Anonymous to help spread the word; both about the CoH charity event and about the principle of being super-purposed in real life.
The biggest display so graced was a HUGE double space featuring teddy bears collected from around the world in 2011:

Another Real World Hero success!
Now time to return to the Real World Hero Charity Auction and the 50+ goodies there.
Cheers! -
Dr T, did you direct the CSR to the patch notes?

Wait.. where?? I triple-checked every item looking for which item/service you were contributing, D_R, and didn't see anything. What did I miss?
*edit* Nevermind, I found it. ;-> -
Quote:Thank you for stepping in, Positron. As a VIP, please add my vote to the "let Premiums keep VIP-earned costumes" side of the scale.The simple solution sounds like "let us keep them" but we'd like to avoid the future argument of "why do non-VIPs get to use VIP costumes?"
Quote:However, if the costume parts were available for purchase for VIPs, then you'd basically be charging Premiums 15 dollars to get them (because they'd buy the packs with the 400 point stipend) for a flat cost instead of having to gamble for them, while charging VIPs the established 400 point cost.
Let VIP have the option to purchase the costume pieces in a bundle, a-la-carte, and/or via Super Packs. Premium players only have access to those same costume pieces via the Super Packs.
If Premium players want to pay $15 for one month for the right to purchase the costume pieces in a bundle and/or a-la-carte, good for them! Existing VIP members are already used to and willing to pay extra for costume bundles and/or a-la-carte in the Paragon Market; so keeping this established practice exclusive to us VIP reinforces the feeling of being Very Important People spared from unwanted random rolls.
Quote:While this sounds good on paper, the reality of the situation is the system isn't set up to handle this. It would involve a pretty significant code-change (we investigated this when developing Freedom).)

The community has spoken and Zwillinger delivered! Hat C is available in the Real World Hero charity auction going on now.
Link to auction web page
Might have to search for it, as there are 50+ collectables, signed memorabilia, one-of-a-kind artwork, costume codes, and more. But the auction closes on December 9, so don't forget to lay claim to your favorite item(s).
(Unless it is Zwillinger's hat... you can let me win that one.)

I am honored and humbled to announce that Real World Hero has accepted this for use in their 2011 charity auction!

PS Megan, whoever you are, thank you for placing the first bid even before I had a chance to post this. You've inflated my ego enough to enable flight for at least a year! -

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Ms. Paragon Universe 2011!
And congratulations to all the finalists. No wonder PERC had such a hard time choosing the winners, the creativity was great and the people even better.
Last but far from least, thank you PERC for hosting the contest! It was a happily memorable event.
