Scarf inspired by Going Rogue

How much do you enjoy City of Heroes? This game is one of my favorite forms of entertainment. So much so that even when not playing I like working towards a game-related goal.

Without further ado may I present a scarf I designed and created, inspired by Going Rogue:

Choosing colors was easy, yellow with a gold star.

And while I can't think of any cool symbolism off hand, I am still proud of how the double columns of alternating honeycomb turned out.

It measures a generous 74" long plus 6" tassels on each end, for a total 86" long; 8" wide at the star.

I got the idea last Christmas and started at the beginning of 2011. Work was done during non-CoH relaxation time (watching movies, etc). Such times were few and far between which is primarily why it took so long to complete.

Estimated total work time: 80 hours

Finished it today Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2 am. Just in time to be made obsolete by City Of Heroes Freedom.

So! I'm pleased with the result but realize I'm about as untalented as a person can be at crafts.

What say you? It is good enough to qualify as fan art?

Update 11/24/2011: Now with bonus hat...

Basic design, standard size, featuring an accent star. Colors are reverse of the scarf: Gold body, yellow star.

Haha, I wish I had one of those for the winter.

Now make a Resistance scarf :V

Pow! Kablooey! Freem! Whiff! Bop! Zow!

Quite good indeed! Those projects require sooooo much patience and time to complete, and anyone that can stick with it so long definitely cares about it. The best part is, next time you should be able to make one quicker!

Pretty cool

I'd never have the patience to learn to knit, let alone knit a whole scarf.

Thank you very much for the encouragement, everyone!

Shall I dare try a VIP one, or would that be too much?

excellent job, i would say stick with making one for each faction first, you got loyalist still have resistance, villain, hero, rogue, vigilante to work with lol

Well, I looked at designing the other factions as you suggested, Necrotech_Master. But the VIP design wouldn't leave enough room in my head for other concepts. So I had to do something for City Of Heroes Freedom first.

Now I'm in post-creation crash. I'm trying to decide if I have enough creative energy to do more CoH themes, or if it is time to take a break for while (say a year or two) to do something else.

Next up! THE CLANKET!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Ooooh, you're going to make me a clanket for Christmas? Ah, too kind, Hyperstrike.

'Clanket'?? Is this a blanket made of Clockworks? When you cover yourself in clockworks, do they try to convert you into a Paladin?

Be Well!

I like to make hats reversible.

Today I'm thankful for the encouraging and overwhelmingly creative place that is the City Of Heroes community. Thank you, everyone!

These are very cool.

Socks! Booties! Thimble puppet with Desdemona accessories!

But I have a question: Does Rogue wool come from black sheep?

*blink* You know what, I didn't think to ask. Kinda afraid to, in case it came from those tangible living spirits haunting First Ward. Would be unsettling to have it talk back!

Cool, socks next?

If you want to make them, go for it! That would be fun to see.

Socks, mittens, etc are outside of my abilities with the looms I use. Plus I've run out of extra time since the holidays are now in full swing.

Any free moments available for use beyond regaining sanity will be involved with Real World Hero.

I am honored and humbled to announce that Real World Hero has accepted this for use in their 2011 charity auction!

Link to auction web page

Might have to search for it, as there are 50+ collectables, signed memorabilia, one-of-a-kind artwork, costume codes, and more. But the auction closes on December 9, so don't forget to lay claim to your favorite item(s) before then.

PS Megan, whoever you are, thank you for placing the first bid even before I had a chance to post this. You've inflated my ego enough to enable flight for at least a year!

Congratulations, Joe, on placing the winning bid! Hope the warmth of the scarf and hat matches the warmth of your heart.
