Scarf inspired by City Of Heroes Freedom
Nice work
As for 'fan art', you're a fan and this is art - again, very nice, well done!
Be Excellent!
Fireheart
Neat!
Cool concept with the gold tie and colors/pattern based on the game. Very creative.
With matching mittens and socks you might have something awesome enough to actually give you a set bonus.
I only regret that I have but one life to waste playing computer games.
Live fast, die young... and leave a flesh-eating corpse!
Thank you everyone who stopped by for taking time to look at my handiwork.
Thank you DreadShinobi, Sapphic_Neko, and Beastyle for filling my pride box with a couple words.
Thank you Fireheart, for taking the time to say in a way that left no room for misinterpretation how my work is to be valued. I did do the best I knew how to do, and so I will be grateful and pleased with the result.
Thank you ChristopherRobin for also showing you read every word of my long-winded post. That is another ego boost.
Thank you Henri for the overboard praise. While a bit more heady than I think deserved, I'm eating it up. And if I knew how to make sweaters I'd do one for you; good luck with your move to the UK.
Thank you Quietus for making me laugh! Mittens and socks, sadly, are out of my limited talent. Hmmm... a hat with the extra yarn might be possible though... Should I dare to try?
Once more, thank you, thank you, thank you everyone. Your willingness to stop by and leave a comment is so validating for all the work that went into this project. It is the mind-boggling amazing creativity of the City Of Heroes community that got me excited to express my fandom, too. Thank you for being my inspiration!
DARE!
Be Well!
Fireheart
Thank you so much for featuring this project on Ustream today, Zwillinger!
Definitely fan art! *nods*
Awesome work! I love the pattern, the colours the concept.... All VIPs should have one!
And yes.... Dare to the hat! *giggles*
Read my in-game stories and check out my DeviantART page.
- coXso - It was a memorable time filled with art!
Yes, do the hat. If all goes well you might still get that set bonus.
I only regret that I have but one life to waste playing computer games.
Live fast, die young... and leave a flesh-eating corpse!
Now with bonus hat...
Took up the dare (Thank you, Fireheart, DarthDelicious, & Quietus!) to make a matching VIP hat. Sized extra large as was the scarf, plus a puff ball on top (easy to snip off if it turns out to be too much).
I like reversible hats.
Today I'm thankful for the encouraging and overwhelmingly creative place that is the City Of Heroes community. Thank you, everyone!
Wonderful work Llydia! I love that the hat is reversible, too

I am honored and humbled to announce that Real World Hero has accepted this for use in their 2011 charity auction!
Link to auction web page
Might have to search for it, as there are 50+ collectables, signed memorabilia, one-of-a-kind artwork, costume codes, and more. But the auction closes on December 9, so don't forget to lay claim to your favorite item(s).
PS Megan, whoever you are, thank you for placing the first bid even before I had a chance to post this. You've inflated my ego enough to enable flight for at least a year!
Congratulations, JOE, on placing the winning bid! I was floored by your donation amount. It was higher than I dared to dream it could be.
Hope the warmth of the VIP scarf and hat matches the warmth of your heart!
Whew! Used up most of my free time and skipped more than a little sleep, but I completed my goal for a project inspired by the current incarnation of my favorite game.
Please allow me a minute to show off a scarf I designed and created. The impetus? City Of Heroes Freedom.
In case it isn't obvious, the bottom of the pattern spells "VIP". The gold "I" is a tie that separates, symbolic of a hero in secret identity mode.
Like last time, the body of the scarf used double columns of alternating honeycomb - two in each white, three in each blue - to add extra interest to the pattern.
The blue and white colors come from the official logo. The alternating blocks from the in-game scarf.
It measure huge at 105" long plus 7" tassels on each end, for a total of 119" long; 8" wide at each end.
Estimated total work time: 60 hours (Though it felt like 200!)
Finished a few hours ago Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11 pm.
I'm pleased with how it turned out, but realize I'm an absolute amateur.
What say you? Good enough to qualify as fan art?
Update 11/24/2011: Now with bonus hat...
Took up the dare to make a matching VIP hat. Sized huge to match the scarf, plus a puff ball on top.
