  1. I swear it used to show you in real numbers depending which ammo you had equiped. It would be like 0% chance recharge slow, 0% chance -13 strength to all, 50% chance for 4 ticks of 5 damage, with incendiary(numbers made up). I think they took it out, or it just went away. Either way, you're right, it's a handy feature to see.
  2. I'm not actually in SLI, just have the second card set to physx. I know it doesn't support anything but the Aegia card, but I though my card should be doing something, since it is reading that memory is being used.
  3. I just recently installed a gtx 470 and dropped my gtx 260 into my second slot. I have the beta 256 drivers from Nvidia and no matter what configuration I set it up as, the EVGA precision says my GPU2 Usage % is 0. It also says I am using 490 MB of GPU2 memory, but where is it going if GPU usage2 is 0%? If you have a similar config and see a definite performance boost, or see it working through monitoring, please let me know, because I am at a loss.
  4. I am semi-done with a character when they get too over the top. For instance, my katana/regen scrapper is too powerful and weak at the same time. In order to have any challenge with him, I have to face purple stuff all the time. But that same stuff is hard to kill with lethal damage. So it's either kill easy and never die, or kill slow and have a challenge. Then I have an invulnerable/energy tank. He won't die solo and on teams he is extremely hard to kill. I only bring him out when a team is REALLY hurting. Those guys like that I rarely play, because living forever is not as fun as you would think it is.
  5. Thanks for the help all. I did a respec and went Mu patron and included thunderstrike and fences. The build is working perfectly. Bots still die, but other stuff dies quicker.
  6. I know I can place 2, but are the effects actually stacking with each other? This is for a robots/traps mastermind. I am just wondering since we got a respec with the issue. I am about to respec him, just trying to get the final slotting down. I would like to just re-adjust minor things, but if he can go from being crazy to insane, I will move as many slots as I have to.
  7. I tried to make them do a couple, but it says something about being in different stances. So, I gave up and went back to destroying stuff.
  8. I find that pulsar was good when I picked it. I also found that when I need it on teams for survivability, there was usually a tank or I was the semi-tank in dwarf, so I dropped it. It is good for minions and such but there are no other powers in PBs to stack with it like the warshade has for stun so it was extremely situational.
  9. I just now figured how to play my PB as a human. It was extremely cumbersome trying to put the right slots in the right place and have fun with all of it. I figured I was spreading myself thin. He is 40 now and I respecced both builds. One is human, with most of the stuff I want maxxed and the other is a dual-form(nova and Dwarf) and I had to give up all human goodness for them to be where I want.

Making all human from the ground up did not seem nearly as fun as I thought it would be. It's viable, but if I wanted viable I would not have tried a PB after my warshade. I wanted more awesome...and like I said, at 40, I am just now feeling that. This is all my opinion, of course, and others probably say it's just fine. I just don't like being average for too long when I don't have to. The only way he was playable until then was to maximize on the two forms and break to human only for buildup, hasten, conserve energy and such.
  10. Yeah, I figured a single card would be better, and this particular one comes with a power supply. I was gonna use that to upgrade my kids computer or my friends computer, because he is still rocking a 7950GT.
  11. First off, the system. I have a home-built system containing a Q6600 Processor overclocked to 3.0X4, 2 GTX 260's SLI(with tag line), and 8 gigs of ram running windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit all sitting on a 780i SLI motherboard in a CM-690 case by Cooler Master. I want an upgrade.

Would I be better off going with another 260 at around 200 bucks for tri-SLI, a GTX 470 at $377(US), or another processor? The processors I have in mind are a Q9550($280) or a Q9650($330). Out of those choices money is not really an issue. I am willing to get whichever is the best upgrade. If possible, Tech Gurus, list them in order of best to worst/little value.

It is also worth noting that CoH is the ONLY computer game I play. That's why a new powerful solo card came into play. I'm not sure they are going to fully implement the SLI and Crossfire, and even then, it's only a maybe for most games in those configurations for performance increase. Truth is, I am really kinda bored and have not upgraded in a while, and even while writing this I am kinda changing my mind.

Assuming the tech could be designed to allow it to choke out "Humanoid" enemies it would still look ridiculous if the foe moved towards the dominator, away from the dominator, or around a corner. Since the chain would spontaneously grow, shrink, or reach straight through the wall.
Demon summoning does almost exactly this. He grabs a pet wiht his hellfire whip for a number of seconds as a pet buff. Could do it with chains. Still, you have a valid point about the no neck thing. Also, the whip does exactly that. If your pet moves while getting buffed, it magically adjusts.
  13. I think they should change Hell on Earth for Demon Summoning into an "ally buff" instead of a pet buff. I just think it would be awesome for you to engulf another player in hellfire and give them a glimpse of your world. With the ally tag, you could still use it for pets, but I think in most cases another player could use the buff better than a pet could. That's it for the idea. I don't really have anywhere to go with it, other than that. I hope it makes it in-game one day.

The "trick" of DA is that it's not balanced around damage immunity...it's toughness specialty is against two of the less common damage types, after all- it's balanced around the idea it can incapacitate most enemies that get near you, damage them okay, and when you need it, heal you from 1% to 100%.
DA is not a 'wade in and taunt' set. Dark regeneration needs a lot of timing, and the dark armor builds tend to need a fair bit of knowledge to slot, especially when you get more and more of the set. You're not just dealing with hp management, you're dealing with endurance and control management. For it, you get some very unique abilities. Endurance drain? not so much a problem. Psy damage? you can laugh it off. Problem mobs? Standing near them can stun/fear 'em to keep them from pulling hijinks. Not to double dip on the heal, but it really is that good.
Does your dark armor jump into those purple level 54 mobs like he was doing in the video and laugh? That's what he was doing. I'm not saying it can't perform or that it is not a great set, just that to claim it was all Dark Armor is misleading. That first group of Malta, he didn't even get hit and didn't have to use his heal at all. The set is great but without the defense, he won't be doing THAT particular feat. If someone can and does, then that's even cooler. But the title speaks of the armor. And, like I said, with me softcapped or not, I still wouldn't have the player skill to do any of that crazy stuff. But, most posts with fantastic displays like that say stuff like "Softcapped dark, king of the world!" or "Willpower+defense=Awsome!"(both made up posts that I have never seen, of course) .
  15. It was still damn amazing. I, myself am definitely not invalidating anything. I was just saying that IOs could make potentially all the armors godly. That includes all the others. It you do that with a standard dark(or any other), it is easier to claim that set is full of awesomesauce and not just that the set has potential. Again, I'm not saying it wasn't awesome, just that all of that wasn't dark armor(and pools). I love dark armor and don't see anything wrong with it. I also can't take my dark armor and jump into the groups that you did without capping, probably.
  16. So if that tank is Defensive capped to smashing, lethal, energy, and such, how are you proving how good *dark armor* is? I am nowhere near that god capped or uncapped, just playing devil's advocate. You took a decent set for resistance and gave it massive defense.

No. The only time I am gonna fight anything stupid-crazy is when I am with my buddy with grant cover. That's why we made them, so we could play with the bigger enemy groups with the new difficulties. I just play to play. I kinda fell into large chunks of cash selling random recipes and then before I realized it, I was actually making a build, so I kept going little by little. After I got to comfortable levels, I respecced(sp?) his toon to match, and pick up grant cover. This is the first build that I have actually made to build for anything meaningful. I usually frankenslot.
  18. The thing is, you are mostly correct. Fire/kins are pretty boring till 32, then chaos comes with the imps. It fills out when you get fulcrum shift to have high damage pets, with one of the best active support sets for melee. You have a decent heal, free endurance and resistance with increase density.

I think some people are just being sheep, but even those can be good at farming by accident. It doesn't mean they are good players by any stretch, but that they can capitalize on the easy-to-grasp strengths of the set. I made mine because nothing went with fire when he was created, and I was thinking of the unpredictable nature of fire. Kinetics made me think of how a small fire can end up burning down a whole building, just as the set gets stronger the longer a battle wages. Someone asked me if I was a farmer one day and then I read up on how I was apparently a FotM. Didn't change my playstyle or powers. I just found out I was capable of killing small stuff really fast and not just team support.
  19. Thanks for the reply. I do have hasten. I also took body mastery for the extra bit of endurance and regen. I didn't pick up any traveling since I have ninja run. I know there are bits and pieces of + def out there, but my buddy gives me another 10-12 defense with grant cover, rounding me out, except AoE. I just went ranged to avoid all the first attacks. Against all Odds pretty much ensures that there won't be many AoE attacks after shield charge and then we just mop up. He has a nearly identical build. We usually alternate shield charges and wipe the floor with baddies. I just didn't want to be grossly overpaying for what I do have. I still have a couple things I am working in, but not overly concerned with the soft cap as I was factoring in his grant cover and the minimal attacks coming from the few guys left standing. I also 3 slotted health and physical perfection to offset those couple attacks.
  20. This is pretty much the build for my MA/Shield scrapper. Looking back I probably spent about 300-400 million or more. It gets me 39.5 ranged, 35.8 melee and 24.5 AoE. I know these are not spectacular numbers, but I was wondering is the price too much. Also, I will note that the actual values are more than enough, because I run with a shield friend with grant cover too. I'm just wondering did I way overpay for the numbers. The Obliterations cost the most at 20-30 million each(going rate now). I just want to know if I can get higher overall numbers with the same amount of cash on shield.

So why are they not represented at all in the forums? is there some horrific lack of synergy I'm going to run into at higher levels?

Other than that, kin/AR seems to rock. I highly reccomend it, even though I totally hate the sound of Burst.
Thought you were saying archery. I guess assault rifle would be cool. I just never really liked the actual powers of assault rifle other than flamethrower and full auto. The kinetics should give those powers some justice though. I always hated the sniper shot because I felt it should be a headshot and critical as opposed to the other "snipes" in sets. It would have made me more likely to pick it with that incentive. Full auto is *almost* enough incentive, but just not quite.
  22. I play whatever seems cool to me* at the moment. My fire/kin controller was an accidental fad, because nothing else went with fire. I didn't know how good it was supposed to be when I first made it. My dual pistol/mental happened because I bought the pistols and never played a mental set. I have a /elec blaster, a /energy tank, /traps MM, a /fire blaster and , so nothing else really stood out.

If I play a set and it doesn't feel super, I trash it. Not meaning Super=Damaging. Energy on my tank did not seem to smash enough, so I went with super strength. Ice armor looks ugly to me so I won't play it. Nothing against the set, just the look. I don't know what build I am supposed to have, just that powers are supposed to be good at what I pick them for. Damage powers should damage, "look good" powers should look good. I really haven't had anyone deny me a slot for the powers I picked, only for the AT. If they want a healer or tank, I can't get mad because I chose my blaster that night...
  23. Yeah, I think you should be ok as long as he doesn't directly resemble anything established. With the addition of shields, there were tons of rip offs. If you just want guns or something you should be fine. No one can generic you just because you are red, white, and blue or if your name was "The Patriot". Now, if you picked both and gave him a shield, probably. Anything else and you should be safe.
  24. I know it's not the answer, but I would say change tactics(not knowing what yours are)... With my Kin, I used to *stay* in melee. I learned to get in and get out and it saved me a lot of heartache. Let the tank aggro, then fulcrum, then send in the army or whatever else you want. And if you are trying to be a support role, then I would not even jump in to fulcrum. I would use it from a distance and hang at the back letting phantasm, army, and my buffing carry the weight. But as others have mentioned, early on the only ways are through acro and combat jumping and such. With kinetics and hasten, the epic protection does wonders, but hibernate is also great with kinetics.
