This Thursday will be a Giant Monster hunt for Justice villains.
Meet in the SINISTER base at 20:00. All levels welcome.
Our spies will be figuring out the best plan of attack, but our targets are:
- Deathsurge: because that's why our power bills are so big!
- Ghost of Scrapyard: to prepare him for I16 and the new Born in Battle accolade requirements.
- Caleb: Because -ToHit isn't enough when you're facing a dozen villains.
- Arachnos Flier: Because most of SINISTER still don't have the badge!
If the Giant Monsters go into hiding we'll make a trip to Bloody Bay to collect some Shivan Shards.
See you there!

What were you doing last night when maintenance hit?
Last night was fine for us, but the week before we were doing a mayhem and at 5 minutes before maintenance Back Alley Brawler decided to show up at our bank. That was a close one, with only a minute or so to spare before shutdown. -
Quote:I agree, global channels don't create community in of themselves. Without the option of teaming together people don't get to know each other and don't become comfortable on the channel. Not to mention that there's so much going on in the game most people aren't avidly watching all their channels.Seriously, though, I found the global channel a long time after I started playing and despite a great deal of effort by some (particularly Lili) to be really open and inclusive, I found it hard to break into the 'group'. It didn't help that I'm primarily on Freedom

Well with enough encouragement I'm sure someone would arrange something on another day.

good old Sydney vs. Melbourne rivalry I see

The Cirque du Sinistre are concerned, punters just haven't been coming to their shows lately, and they've even been losing out on bookings in Paragon City. Is it the recession? Lack of appeal for return customers? Or just the bad jokes? A public opinion interrogation has shown it's none of those, it's Architect Entertainment! With its boundless supply of entertainment in varying degrees of quality the punters need never leave the building.
Well, if they won't come to us, the Cirque du Sinistre's going to have to come to then.
Join the Cirque du Sinistre this Thursday on Justice villains when they invade the Architect Entertainment to steal some of their customers back, and give the competition a run for its money!
The Cirque du Sinistre is our circus-themed villain group on Justice. Anyone is free to join the circus, or just come along with any villain they want. The action should be around level 20, hopefully with some lk/malef spots. (I16 how I long for thee!)
We'll be doing some AE missions of dubious quality, as inspired by the Worst of MA review thread

You're definitely welcome guys, I'm really happy to put this stuff together. It's also it's own sort of fun.
Thanks to everyone who came, hope you enjoyed yourself. I've put up the group pic on the Sinister website, http://sinister.wikidot.com/ missing the Orangutan due to our no-monkeys policy, and Indice due to RL.
And, if there are any forum lurkers out there wondering if anyone came after such a paltry response here. We had 17 people participate, check out the pics to see who they are.
Next week I'm hoping to reunite the Cirque du Sinistre, so if you've ever wanted to have a circus-themed character, or just watch some in action, now's your chance. More details hopefully on Monday. -

I knew you would be, since it can't be your birthday again two weeks later! (I guess the party _could_ last that long)

Reminder about the Invader event tonight. See you there.

I always joke that maintenance is the only reason I go to bed.

Ditzy, this post is much clearer than previous ones. So, I agree that a Dominator with gobs of global recharge and no damage buffs performs worse today than they did previously. Especially if they were a high-level /Psi. I can understand and sympathise with anyone who played primarily in this mode.
However, my biggest confusion is that I believe all the sets with -Rech buffs also have +Dam buffs, so I'm having trouble imagining the scenario. Perhaps it's just /Kin bots that SB but don't FS.
The goal of popularity was never mine, because I already liked the AT. It turns out that the changes are a buff to the majority of my Dominators. (I have 1 perma /Psi, 3 other permas, 1 other +40 /Psi, and probably 20 others.) Most of the time there's no /Kin or /Rad on the team, and I don't think I've ever been on a team with two /Kins.
There have also been complaints about the changes to attack chains (Frosticus has raised these), but overall these don't affect me much. If my attack chain is a little awkward at times, I can cope with it for the rare enemy that takes more than a few attacks to finish off.
I think the changes are spot on with regard to improving the perception and popularity of the AT, because they are a buff in the vast majority of cases. It is an exceedingly rare player that would be able to take their Dominator to permanent double stacking of the Domination buff. Of course, a lot of this hinges on how you define popularity, and we'll never have the information we need to assess this.

Quote:You'll need to give a reference for an outrageous claim like this.the earlier dominator buffs were completely overlooked in the initial buff formula.I mean c'mon people dom damage buffs on a team was already scaled to increase based on team number. OOOps they forgot about that and didnt factor it in at the initial buff release and subsequently took it out in a patch a few weeks later but labeled the change as a pvp change in patch notes. Another thing I find funny is not one person following the Castle fanclub that published damage tables even factored that modifier in.Why? Because most likely noone making tables was even aware that particular little mechanic existed.
The only thing that changes with team size is how quickly the domination bar fills, and that's still there. Dominators were getting a bonus in PvP to account for the fact that the Domination buff could be difficult to leverage. This bonus was not a damage buff, it was built into the powers. -
Reminder of the upcoming Invader event next Thursday, all levels welcome. Please let me know if you're going to come along just so I have an idea of how many people we're talking about.
In case you're curious, I organize something every Thursday, yesterday we did a successful Master RSF run. Thursday before that was a Rikti Mothership raid, next Thursday is the Invader event, and for the Thursday after that you'll just have to wait and see. -

Last time I tried to use Confuse against the PToD I wasn't very successful, but it was quite a long time ago, perhaps even pre-purples. It was against Ms Liberty who may have heightened confuse protection. I also find confused enemies tend to run. You're right that Confuse can stack more mag, I'll give it a try some time when I have a chance.
Thank you also Frosticus for a clear explanation. -
Umm, ok.
Quote:This post just makes you look ignorant. Perhaps you could post your own video to dispell that. But I'm happy to answer your questions, because it might be interesting to other people who also haven't soloed AVs on their Dominators.Ok .. you stood there and tried to tank AV'S . Not once did you kite or use los. Not once did you use anything in geography or your character movement to shift the battle to your advantage. . . . Do you tackle every ingame objective by trying to "tank" it when you are on an archetype without the hp or def//res to support that particular approach? Do you ever think .. ya know.. OUT OF THE ******* BOX? Instead of advocating playstyles that make everyone play dumb and that make it really boring for people that don't stand around like idiots for 80 minutes , trying to tank an AV instead of PLAYING in a proactive fashion that would end the AV encounter in under 5 minutes, is there a reason you do that and advocate that playstyle?
I am really curious to get your answer. You may think I am attacking you but I am not. I am simply trying to understand why any player would put themselves through 80 minutes of hell that another player would complete in 5-10 minutes with a different tactic playing the same archetype with similar slotting etc...etc ..etc. Good job on soloing the AV's.
Id like to add that as a mind// you have confuse. Did it ever occur to you that a confused target does not attack you or pop tier9'? Wanna knock an hour off that fight? Pop some yellows and use confuse.
Watch the video with Ghost Widow again. I used character movement a lot to protect myself. It seems you don't know that when an enemy wakes up they'll take a moment to turn around before attacking you. That's why I was alternating Mesmerize and Dominate and jumping over her head a lot. It's also why I had Combat Jumping on.
As for using geography and breaking LOS, all the movement interferes with casting Dominate, which has to be used every time it's up, so it usually just gets me dead. It makes sense on the other primaries, where you can immob the AV and jump up and down from behind a box to deal with them, but with Mind you're better off sleeping them and getting behind them.
In fact, I'm at a loss to understand why you thought I was "tanking" at all. Ghost Widow did get off a few shots at me, but those only happened after I missed a few times in a row. If you'd tried this yourself you'd know that it's very hard to predict when or even if the AV will break free after you miss a couple of times. The only way you know they're free is because they just took a shot at you.
I'm trying to guess your tactic to end the fight in just 5 minutes, which you've omitted from your post. You can't possibly mean that leaping around like a mad thing would speed up the battle. Most likely you're suggesting to do it with a Fire/Psi? Well yes, Drain Psyche, Fire Imps and Hot Feet will do that for you. I however thought that it was more interesting to do it with Mind/Fiery since everyone knows Fire/Psi can do it, and it's also my favoured character. Not to mention I don't actually have a 50 Fire/Psi.
You also have some pretty serious misapprehensions about Confuse. Most importantly, in I15 Confuse's activation time was 3.3 seconds. It was so long that when alternated with Dominate it prevents you from stacking enough mag to hold the AV, and definitely seriously reduces your damage output. In I16 it's 2 seconds, so the tactic may become viable. Secondly, a confused enemy will pop Tier 9s and will move around. Thirdly Dominate does damage, Confuse does not, and damage is what reduces duration of a fight. The only way Confuse can reduce the duration of the fight would be if there were another enemy around to help out.
Finally you should know that taking yellows would have absolutely no effect. The AV cons evenly to me, and I'm totally IOed out, which means at least 100% bonus to accuracy on all my powers. Of course the biggest clue is in my combat attributes I'm tracking "last hit chance" which stays firmly at 95%. If it dropped below that even a sliver you can be sure I would have turned on Tactics.
If you want some proper criticisms, why not read the rest of the thread, including these:- If I summoned my Mu Guardian and vet reward pets I could push up my damage output.
- I should maximize my use of the Apocalypse proc by putting it in Blaze instead of Fire Blast.
- I should have used Total Domination and Telekinesis at the beginning to get an extra 12 mag and probably avoid the bit where the AV is free briefly after triangles go up.
- I did not leverage streakbreaker as well as I could have, and ended up with a few too many misses of Dominate near the beginning.
- I could generally optimize my build better for this. (Assault)
Finally as a footnote, when I tried this out in I15 test with the Dominator "nerfs" in place I did it in 25 minutes. -
Quote:I like the idea of Mud Pots, but I don't expect it to work well with Hot Feet or Arctic Air because of the smaller radius. In my experience with Hot Feet and Chilling Embrace, enemies rarely got into range for Chilling Embrace, because either they ran out of the Hot Feet, I held them because they were hurting me, they died, or they were moving too slowly to get into melee range. It will work better with powers that really bunch the enemies up, like Seeds of Confusion, Mass Confusion and Wormhole.Fire Control doesn't seem to mind. They'll remove the Taunt component, so it's a PBAoE slow, immob, and damage. Combine that with Tremor, Fissure, and your AoE soft controls, and you can have a blast. Even better will be synergizing it with Hot Foot or Arctic Air. The immob will cancel out the afraid, so Hot Feet will be just stacked damage aura and slow; Arctic Air should be hilarious, since mobs will be stuck with the constant fear and confuse effects without being able to flee.

Quote:The problem is even the Aussies can't agree on what footy is.I think footy for Aussies means rugby. I've been known to be wrong occasionally though.
Quote:I don't care for the split-up boards either, myself, not just the one for "Oceanic" types but the Euros either. It all fosters a sense of little groups, not a community. To me, better for people trying to organize some time-specific event to note the time zone, if it's that limited a thing. But hey, if people ask for an enclave, who am I. -

Isn't there a JB Hi Fi in town?
