I'd love to see some kind of power that caps knockback magnitude at .67 when toggled on. To make it not completely broken, suppressed knockback powers could apply 5-10 seconds of -KB or something. This would make knockback powers less situational, which would lead to them being used more often (without annoying people!) and I think that's a good thing. It's probably either too much work or downright impossible, but I can definitely dream. All that aside, I'd definitely settle for a Null the Gull option. I'd probably like my Peacebringer a lot more if I could use Solar Flare with reckless abandon.

Quote:Unpredictable knockback is the worst! There's far too many powers where KB is more of a detriment than a boon. IMO, they should be changed to KD/KU so the random proc is always a good thing. Knockback can be useful, but it has to be predictable and precise. As a general rule Knockback is bad; either because it is used badly or because it is designed badly.
The former is a result of people either not knowing or not caring how KB affects a team (doing things like opening on groups with Hand Clap, slotting Knockdown powers for Knockback, etc). The latter is the result of unpredictable knockback (Kheldians, for example) so that you basically can't play the powerset without some knockback and you can never be sure when it'll kick in. -
Quote:I made the mistake of buying the Origins bundle. I figured the auras likely wouldn't be included, but I guess I was feeling impulsive.I was wondering this as well although that makes the origins pack really overpriced since it was mostly auras....
Honestly, I don't think I'll bother with costume bundles in the future. The individual pieces are pretty cheap, and I doubt I'll ever make use of an entire set. Since all pieces are available to play with in the costume creator, I can easily pick them up as needed.

Fire Control/Time is kind of painful without vet powers in the lowbie levels, but I keep telling myself it'll be better later on. I figure I just need to stick with it until level 32+ for imps. Until then I'll be sucking solo... but looking fancy while doing so.

What really bugs me is people that quit without saying a word. Sewer teams are about the worst place to look for etiquette, but I don't remember people silently running off and ciding+quitting to be that prevalent a year ago. I've been starting to see this in higher levels too! Sadly, I wonder if all this newfangled automatic teaming in other MMORPGs has dulled people's manners. It is not that hard to type a simple goodbye!

Thanks for the info.
I'm up to level 32 now and things have improved quite a bit. My pets feel more survivable (plus, the damage!), I have Provoke to get some tanking on, and WoP smooths things out. I'm finding that /Pain really excels at being flexible. This is easily becoming one of my favourite alts, and I foresee myself rolling more MMs in the future.

He's sitting at 24 at the moment and I'm at a loss as to what power pool I want to dip into. Do I want Maneuvers to try and beef up my pets' survivability? Do I want Provoke to get a bit of tankerminding in, despite having no mezz protection? Do I want Combat Jumping and possibly Acrobatics later on to get some immob+hold protection? All I have so far is Fitness since I seem to blow through End on teams. I've skipped Lash+Corruption and Conduit of Pain. I might consider dropping Enforced Morale, but being able to clear/prevent status effects is decent so far.
Right now DS/Pain isn't really lending itself to a particular playstyle. The pets are kind of squishy and I don't make the greatest bodyguard tank. So yeah, I could really use some guidance. -
I'm having some trouble deciding what AT I'd like to use for this combo. I'm not the biggest fan of being defaulted to the tanking role, so I was sort of leaning towards Scrapper. I feel completely drained after teaming with my Tanker.
Are there any really good benefits from going with a Brute?

Have you tried a Fire/Dark Corruptor? It's probably the most enjoyable alt that I've played. I didn't invest heavily in IOs, but I can only imagine it would be quite impressive with a nice build.

I have an Arch/Kin Corr that I liked up until I got FS+RoA. RoA is awesome, but I would rarely have time to fire it off on a team. Even if I did find time, it didn't always feel like a good choice to lock myself out of powers for that long. If I were to make another Kin, I would definitely take animation times into account.

I used to scoff at people that got their WoW accounts compromised until it happened to me. I had Firefox + NoScript and Avast, so I thought nothing would happen. I don't even remember going to any shady sites (and I use a different login/pass for websites), but the day before my account closed I was cleaned out. If I ever played WoW again I would probably look into getting an authenticator. I'm not sure about CoX though. It doesn't really seem like the CoX RMT companies are even close to being as aggressive as they are in WoW. I don't think the option would hurt at all, but I probably wouldn't use one.

This happens very rarely, but it's not permanent. I'm guessing there's a separate server that runs channels/globals (since they are cross-server) and it's having issues or something. Incidentally, when this happened before I couldn't zone into any missions either. I am sure it will be fixed soon, but you will just have to wait it out.

Thanks for the replies! I think I have kind of become disinterested in Blasters though. It has nothing to do with this thread, I just love the Corruptor AT too much. I swear, I'm having the hardest time figuring out a hero AT that actually holds my interest.

Thanks for the replies and PMs.
I have some good info to work with now. It's definitely going to require more effort than Freedom or Virtue, but I think it'll be a good learning experience.

A good SG or group of friends makes all the difference in these games. I played on DAoC's Gaheris server for a bit, and I think the population peaked at about 130 people at primetime. It never felt empty though, because I had a great guild and decent alliance. It was a surprisingly fun server to play on, and I sort of miss its great community now and then.
CoX feels a lot more empty for me because I haven't made any strong social connections yet. The problem I have in CoX is it's a lot harder to even see that these groups of players even exist because it is so heavily instanced. This game relies very heavily on the forums for connecting people (or luck when it comes to private global channel communities), and I sort of miss being able to discover guilds in-game simply by seeing guild teams doing stuff, or using the search tool to find guilds with members on during the times that I play. -
I am pretty interested in trying Triumph, but I've always played on high pop servers (Freedom/Virtue). I've been playing a lowbie alt here, but KR and Hollows are pretty barren. My usual leveling method has been going to level-specific zones and either join a team or try and form one. It's kind of hard when there's like... two people in the whole zone though (and one of them is level 50).
So, how do the Triumph regulars approach the leveling treadmill? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost considering using a second account as a PLer or something so I'll be self-sufficient. -
This topic has come up many times across the various MMORPGs that I've played. The most common reason has been the desire to stare at a female's butt, or the aversion to staring at man-butt. It's sort of surprising how much butt-staring goes on in these games!

Right now I've been working on a lowbie Ice/Fire Blaster. My choice of Fire as a secondary was to supplement Ice's weaker AoE. I was planning on skipping Fire Sword, Burn, Blazing Aura and Hot Feet. Since my power picks are so sparse in my secondary I am kind of thinking I'm approaching Blasters or Ice/Fire wrong.
I guess I'll start here: what powers would you consider "must-haves" for /Fire?
I also wouldn't mind hearing some opinions on any good Ice/ or /Ice combos that don't sacrifice too much for a decent IO build. Some power combos just seem to mesh nicely when it comes to IOs.
