Looking for something new

I've got myself two heavily IO'd builds that I love. FM/SD scrapper and a SS/SD brute. Soft-capped, high recharge, the whole thing. I love them.

But I'm bored to death with them now.

I'm looking to start a new project. Something that's as powerful as the characters I listed above, but different. No SD, no SS, and no FM. I'm tossing around a few ideas atm. A Kin/DP defender is currently level 13 and I'm having a blast playing him through the new GR content. I've been dabbling with a Huntsman who's lingered in the 40s for quite a while (see my thread in the SoA forums for details on that). The SoA seems fun but he's gonna cost... a lot. Either of time to get HAMs, or money to buy the super expensive stuff.

I'm not opposed to playing another brute or scrapper, but I won't play a defense based set, or super strength or FM. That almost rules out the SoA being defense based and all, but he's also a weird mix of team support/death to all.

I've got a spines/elec in the 20s who's not terribly exciting at the moment. He runs out of endurance pretty fast. Sure, that won't be a problem when I hit level 35, but I may not be the biggest fan of Spines.

So I figured I would appeal to the boards. Any suggestions on anything I should check out?

Might I recommend an Elec/Elec/Elec Blaster? You have a horseload of soft control with all of your End-draining and some decent hard control with your three different holds, and you hit like a truck since you're a Blaster. Eventually never runs out of Endurance, either. Elec EPP will let you temporarily hulk out and turn into a gremlin, too, just to make it goofier.

I can't get a blaster past level 12 for some reason.

Have you tried a Fire/Dark Corruptor? It's probably the most enjoyable alt that I've played. I didn't invest heavily in IOs, but I can only imagine it would be quite impressive with a nice build.

I'd second this suggestion; Fire/Dark corrupter works really well solo. When you put several together on a team it really gets silly.

My SG started a 4 man superteam of Fire/Dark corrupters awhile back... by the time they reached the teens they were starting to show promise and once they got into the mid-20's they became really good.

Open up with 4 Fearsome Stares and EVERYTHING in a room is cowered and suffering from -60% tohit. Two of us drop Tar Patch and everyone drops Rain of Fire and Fireball. Hit any surviving bosses (everything else up to +2 LT's will be dead) with a few Blazes and on to the next group. Again FS the group, the other two drop Tar Patch and repeat the Rain/Fireball combo.

I haven't done very many teams that size that were that powerful in the 20's.

The problem you have with taking blasters past level 12 is probably that you've been catching a nasty case of incoming death.

My suggestion would be roll Fire/Elec. Minions die in 4 seconds (fireball/firebreath.) Then you jump in and slap upper management with your fists of sparky doom and jump out firing Blaze. If done right, you hardly ever catch the incoming death. (Fire/energy also works, but I like the graphics on /elec better. )

So you think you're a hero, huh.
