  2. No no no, obviously gauntlet needs the Big-****ing-Fist treatment.

All tanker AoEs get an area/degree/target-cap boost. So it'd help get more aggro or hit more foes if you're past the aggro cap anyway. Their ST attacks get END and Rech discounts.

You got it backward. Twoheadedboy is the babysitter.

If the babysitter does a bad job warranting not getting paid, I still get the allotted time the babysitter attempted to do their job.

So no, the example is not flawed. In fact, the example is practically identical.

Performing a service is not equivalent to selling merchandise.

If you hire a babysitter, and that babysitter not only shows up late, but does not mind the kids properly, invites unsolicited people over, endangering the children but also causes some sort of collateral damage in the process, that babysitter should not be expected to be paid.

Also, if that babysitter request I pay them regardless of the outcome of the duration of their services and request no responsibility for what happens up until they are paid, I would not hire that babysitter and would probably warn others from hiring them either as they are either performing illegal acts, stealing or exploiting their clients in some fashion.

To reiterate some past ideas about improving Tankers:

I've always felt there should be mainly 2 ATs that force enemy formation. Blasters and Tankers. Blasters should force the AI to try to come in close if they want to do meaningful damage and Tankers should force the enemy to engage close because of foe crippled offense. Basically, adding -range to all their attacks (and taunt auras) could force foes from standing back and firing to move (readjusting to get at the target).

This actually gives Blasters a defensive measure = range. For Tankers it gives them a meta-mitigation measure = scurrying foes. Beyond that, I'd probably be more inclined to adjusting the quality of Tanker attacks, namely the endurance and recharge of their ST attacks and the ranges, target caps and degrees of their AoE powers on a set-by-set basis. Because, to me, being a Tanker isn't about being a 'irresistable force'...sure, a Tanker *might* be that...if they were offensive oriented. But offense is secondary to a Tanker. Rather than literally making their offense substantial, Tanker offense should simply be 'easy'. They do great without even trying. They don't have to line up cones, their cones just hit lots and more things...they don't have to huddle everything to 8ft...they can hit things within 15ft and beyond. They're an 'irresistable force' if they actually tried...so they're great without actually trying.

Unless you want to invent something entirely new and turn Tankers into something they're not.

    I'm against that.
Yeah, you're against not getting what you want. We get that.

Tankers are also aggro management which is a form of control. I've made suggestions in the past to aid them in that regard (besides the obligatory 'increase aggro cap') but the response from someone like you is "That just makes them a farmer."

Lol I see quite a few alternatives to improving Tanker's capabilities that don't involve buffing or healing. I'm sure others can see them too. You're just intentionally keeping yourself oblivious to the obvious.

Which was one point I was making when people mention Talbain being cute. In all the source material, he isn't made out to look cute At. All. They may overlap, but they're not interchangable to me.

See, this is the kind of design I really wouldn't care for in this game. I wouldn't exactly go on a campaign to ban it, but to me this just doesn't look so much like a character as it does like a shark that grew arms and legs. Like I said, I have no love for fish and birds, so this really does nothing for me. The only reason I even found shark-themed characters appealing to begin with is because of those pics I posted, since they borrowed shark elements to place on ostensibly human-looking characters.

To me, that kind of pic is just going too far in replicating the animal in question.

To me, those shark pics, while awesome (I actually like the very last one in that bloody link) don't look like characters. They look like non-player-characters. Like monsters you'd run into if you were playing a game.

I guess you could put tights on them and a cape and some spiked boots and a knarly belt to help personalize the frame, but then it stops looking like a shark and more like a person with a shark-head helmet. Got no problem with that and would welcome the addition. I'm just also seeing Sam's want of more optional accessories to future additions...hoods, hats, glasses, hair. You can't really add anything to those sharks though...no forehead.

I think the problem is with people like you, who only have their sights set on *ONE* particular improvement or looking at *ONLY* a specific metric of performance.

You're not trying to make the AT fun and unique, you're trying to make them Brutes. So if the devs appear to not want to mess with Tankers is probably because they don't want to be dumb and copy what Brutes are like you seem to want to do.

I have no problem improving the quality of damage dealing on a Tanker but pointing at Brute and whining about what they get shouldn't be an avenue action to starting the process of Tanker improvements...or any AT improvements for that matter.
  16. Semi good that Toonami is coming back...yay I want to watch it but boo it's on Saturday night. If I don't have plans, I can stay home and watch but if I do? Yeah, I don't have dvr...but hey! It's not like it's anything new...

Anyway, I sorta doubt we'll get lots of new stuff and probably won't pull out much of the old stuff due to licensing...but that's alright. As nostalgic as it was, Toonami was just like current Adult Swim's anime reruns...it played what they had over and over too. They mixed it up, sure, but in their 10ish year run, it's not like their list of what they showed was all that extensive.

That said, I sorta hope Adult Swim doesn't copy the old Toonami formula. Instead, why not do what they did during April Fools and sort of 'advertise' anime. Pull 2-3 episodes from a lot of source anime and show those as a kind of introduction to the show then have Tom talk about the animators, publishers, the DVDs and manga and purchasing them.

Stamp, ship and do a different anime (maybe doing 2 anime so 6 episodes per showing). When you have enough episodes to form a 'season', repeat in a rotation then pick new anime for the next season.

But this hinges on the hopes that it's *much* cheaper to license a set of 2 or 3 episodes from several series vs 1 whole series. If not, then that idea is :sadfaced:

  18. Curious to see how the new special AT handles forms and attacks in those forms.

I'd personally have made the powers identical but separate clicks. So you could have Proton Scatter and Nova Scatter but they'd share enhancement values, effectively having 2 powers that can have 12 slots each. Of course, with ED, slotting each with 3 dmg would get you whatever slotting you would get out of 6 slotting each for dmg.

Basically, you'd only have to slot 1 of the powers (if you took the human version) or slot both but focusing on different values such as 2nd effects.

Granted, even typing that sounds very confusing so I'm sure implementing it would be as well.
  19. Would be cool to consolidate ideas about future enhancements. If anyone knows of an established thread...if not, how about this one? -link-

That said, I'd personally like a bit more hybrid in the power enhancements of the ATO procs...

Not sure what the slotting bonuses of the current sets are off the top of my head or the new ones at all (I just glanced at the sets' procs and that's about it) but if I were to guess, the general slotting bonuses are sort of normalized, being general copies so they're even across similar ATs. The procs are where they differ.

I'd see it as a nice alternative if each of the ATs had a specific tangent put to them to differentiate them some expressed by ATOs...

Blaster meta-damage//self-support= They have the +mez protection and fire dmg proc. More self support like +absorb for self only by doing damage and insta-recharging click bonuses like Stalker's proc on a certain power in their primary of their choice. This would separate them greatly from other blasting ATs while aiding them in overall participation in a team.

Corruptor damage//support= They have the neg dmg proc and that +END proc, right? More straight damage buffs or extra dmg + support for continual damage dealing. I think Corruptor's enhancements are spot on. It will certainly make my Fire/Storm and future Water/Storm amazing-er than they'd be without.

Defender support//meta-support= They have the heal and absorb proc. I think their other procs should keep in that direction but also add support features that you can't get in other places. Some more ideas for possible buffs: +range, +special (think Power Boost), +END discount and +debuff resist.

ATs like Scrappers might branch off into added control effects too, Stalkers added debuffs, Tankers AoE control effects and debuffs, Brutes self meta-buffs to improve their sustainability of damage dealing.

All in all, when it gets down to the meat of the game, damage starts getting less important. Because everyone can do damage. What begins to matter is the ease of doing that damage and making your character more generalized in their capabilities. Making your Tanker practically unkillable, capable of dealing okay dmg, supporting a team *AND* managing foes may not make them more effective than a Brute, but it's techically more powerful in capabilities if the Brute can only deal damage with moderate aggro management.
  20. To help snipes, you could always take a page from Water Blast's Jet Stream...

Let the snipe be slow and interruptible when you cast it first. If it goes off and connects, it grants you a short term temp power (I dunno, lasts 8 seconds) that calls a faster casting snipe animation. The slower snipe also has a 75% chance of recharging itself instantly while the faster snipe has a 30% chance of recharging itself instantly.

The result? Slow charge followed by *HIT!* *pop* Snipe is recharged quick snipe hit *HIT!* there might be a chance you can pull that off again for 3 strong strikes in a row or even 4 but that lower % chance (or a miss) will eventually kill that streak.

The cost? Snipes are still pretty costly and you have to manage the hit in the first place. Chance is still a factor.

Me personally, I just love the look of some of the snipes and the prospect of a volley of Proton Volleys or a barrage of Blazing Bolts sounds like it'd be awfully mean and painful.

I'd personally rather the devs work on those new ATs and sell sell sell. With the new epic AT that's coming out, fill out the game's niches with 3 more basic ones:

    Melee/(de)Buff
    Armor/Blast
    Pet/(Assault or something)

Basically, open up the styles more. People that want to blast but don't like being squishy will buy a new AT and the new blast sets they didn't have, people that love to melee can buy a new AT and the new support sets out there and any AT that uses pets will get you more bang for your buck when developing pet sets.

I'd be more in support of that, although it'd be more work. But hey, if you want to do something right, it often requires that effort...

We don't need people dictating definitions and setting boundaries. Seriously, what you call 'anthropomorphic' others will call furry and so on.

When it comes down to costume parts for this game, however, I'd aim for as many shortcuts as possible. Like was mentioned by Tenz, snouts as details would cover this painlessly. Varying the shape and offering textures like fur, scales, and slick would go a long way.

Another is adding certain details to certain categories...I never understood why the devs couldn't chop the animal head in half and stick the front part inside of a hood. Probably wouldn't work for the bird heads but the lizard, dog and cat heads don't seem much wider than a regular face.

But just on my opinion, the definition of anthropomorphic is blurry. Because it's a blanket statement, it encompasses many varieties of hybrids. My personal definitions within anthro, though:

[blank]-people = cat-girls, bunny-boys, etc. Tend to blend certain features (ears, tails, whiskers, fangs, nails/claws, hair) yet keeping the form as human as possible.

Animal Morphs = General term but since the subject is people with animal features, think of animal morphs as how you'd do in photoshop class, blending 2 pictures of creatures into one and name it after both. This is what we have with the animal heads in CoX, basically dog/cat/cow/lizard pasted onto a human. The wolf head makes a wolf-human animal morph. etc.

Hybrids = Because the term describes a more natural blend of two things, not resembling one more than the other...it's a 'new' creation. Hybrids are what Sam is talking about and there can be different levels of hybrid depending how unique you want the results. You don't want it to look like a shark glued onto a human body nor a human with face paint and gills. The results may not look like a shark because it *isn't* a shark, it's a hybrid.

Furry = is not a category of anthropomorphism. Furry is a fandom. Bugs Bunny is not a furry. Balto isn't a furry. Gallon isn't a furry. But furries can latch onto them in their fandom. To me, a furry is such a fan of a certain style of character, they make, see, imagine or saturate nearly everything around them as such. Because a furry doesn't have to favor hybrids or animal morphs or personified ferals (think a normal looking hamster that tells jokes). A furry enjoys many or all of these things.
