Quote:I like ambushes. I just wish they were more clever. Neither ambushes that spawn on top of you nor ambushes that run at you from a long way away are particularly interesting or challenging.but I really really still wish the devs would learn that ambushes aren't fun, all they are is tedious and annoying.
Gimme ambushes that pop out of all those unused doors. Give me cargo containers that burst open and spew out troops. Give me DE that rise out of the ground. Give me enemies that gather in a spot and teleport me into the middle of them. Give me ambushes that reliably come from more than one direction.
I like the Morality mission with proximity bombs and popup cannons. That's at least a little interesting.
I can see your issue with the spawn sizes being out of whack. That's a legitimate bug. Ambushes as a mechanic though are one of the few things the game has to change things up from pile after pile of static spawns. Asking to get rid of them or stop using them is unrealistic. -
I foresee nudist colonies and nude beaches getting buzzed by low flying drones carrying Clothes Bombs.

Weekends have been nutty time since I've been here. The forums are still here, the forums still work. Let people who work hard all week have their weekend. I'd rather have a trained moderator who knows our forum and community have a little extra work Monday morning, than deal with an undertrained person taken from the GM pool messing things up all weekend.
In the end, even if there were a weekend mod, all their actions would have to be reviewed by someone on Monday. There's really no savings to be gained from their perspective, and for those of us who are regular denizens, we can get used to a little wild and woolly weekends. -
If you have 3 regular tips (possible if you were on a team doing other's missions) dismiss them. You can't have more than 3 tips of any type.
Nothing has changed with regard to tip drop rates. -

Quote:I have never had to put in a support request in 75 months of play. Any idea what a reasonable amount of time to wait is?Quote:Reasonable time to wait is usually a day or so, depending on the severity of the issue. "Stuck" requests get priority, of course.
He should not consider himself "bugged" since that files his request as a low priority action.
I filed a stuck ticket when we were on a Synapse TF the other evening. GM Sven was in touch with us in under 10 minutes and had things resolved under a minute later and my team was on it's way. It would have taken longer to reset the mission and clear it ourselves which was our only alternative.
Our GM's are really good most of the time.
PS- if you already filed a ticket but feel you put it in the "wrong" category by mistake, don't file a new one. Multiples for the same issue just slows down response times for everyone. Head to the Support website, get yourself set up there and edit your open ticket accordingly. -
The villain lounge is in Cap au Diable. On the map in the eastern half, just north of the Black Chopper.

Quote:Since you can't participate in the Incarnate System without GR, it wasn't a wasted purchase.I rejoined for GR after a couple month Hiatus, and was hopeing to do some level 50 content for some Incarnate goodness, and I find out it wasn't released with GR (Thanks by the way for that by the way NCSoft...bought this GR for the Incarnate and didn't get it) I digress, so when is this Incarnate System supposed to drop?
Close attention to what they said about the Alpha Incarnate level would have told you the first level that was supposed to come with GR wasn't a guarantee, just a preview if they could get it in shape.
Because of feedback, and a lack of content to actually run to participate in the system, they decided to wait. -
Not to mention that clearly all the info wasn't the same, otherwise it would have told him the name was in use.
Your old account still exists out there somewhere. Getting access to it is another matter entirely. If you don't know the name/password and other info needed, you'll have the devil's time convincing Customer Support you are who you say you are. -
Quote:In the circle of people I know, that would raise no eyebrows whatsoever. And I don't just mean my immediate peers. The only people that might grumble a little (and only a little) would of my parent's generation. And even then the computer savvy among them would get it.You're not alone brother - do you guys think video gaming will ever lose the "geeky" label and become just another thing accepted as something guys (and gals) do - pointless maybe, but not mocked?
Like watching sports all day, tinkering with the car, *playing* sports all day, building model ships, etc.
Those are all *as* pointless and arguably *more* brainless pursuits when compared to some video gaming, yet most guys would feel comfortable telling their officemates they were planning on golfing, changing the oil, or vegging on the couch all weekend watching football, but hesitate to tell them he was planning on leading PuGs online all weekend.
Will that ever change? -

Quote:I've run with several teams that don't bother slotting and don't run into serious issues. It has to do with force multiplication. Between buffs, AoEs, and mezz, 8 players worth of mobs aren't as powerful as 8 players.Making your teammates do all the work until level 22 ftw!
Heh. I do sometimes wait until 20 or so myself. ^_^ It depends. DO's aren't expensive and I like to feel like I'm making a good contribution to the team, so I'll slot those for a few levels, usually. Plus if everyone else is completely unslotted... well, your team might have some problems.
When someone insists on boosting the difficulty for "faster xp" then yes such a team can run into issues. However, even a slotted team runs into those problems. Other people who do slot don't end up carrying people who don't in a normal situation. Stuff flat out dies too quickly for that to make much difference. -
Just to be clear, Alignment missions (a single Tip) are not the same as Morality mission (the 11th mission). If you made that small error, that may be your problem.

To my mind, though I like this idea, I'd prefer to see them address Memorized recipes in a more comprehensive fashion, considering all the other issues that they bring up. Always having to set filters when I craft, and/or close out the memorized stuff when I sell, gets really tiresome.
Rebuild the recipe and salvage interfaces like the Merit and Ticket Vendors. Add a level slider, subsections on the left side for Basic IOs, Memorized IOs, Temp Powers, Costume parts, and Invention IOs, with submenus within that.
From there, create a separate Useful Salvage filter for each section. Don't care about Memorized or Temp Powers? Turn those off, leave on the stuff that's important to you.
For salvage, Break out the sections and/or rarity, and create level based filters as well. Nothing bothers me more than doing a lower level TF, getting a bunch of salvage and recipes out of my normal level range, and having to hunt and peck to pull them out of my pool of stuff.
PS- working window memory would be awesome too. Let me set up my default display and save it like I can save chat windows. -
Quote:I agree with Bill. The controller/dominator is already essentially controlling an inanimate element to the point where it has form and motility. That's actually a pretty impressive amount of control and manipulation. Giving it the ability to follow orders at the same time seems incongruous to me. It basically harkens back to the old DnD principle of summoning elementals.Whew, I get to disagree with EG.
That, actually, is precisely what's behind the naming difference (and control difference.) The henchmen are (supposed to be) intelligent, independent beings who can handle more complex orders. (Go there, attack them, get my coffee.) Pets are not. Even masterminds get pets they are not allowed to control - Dark Servant specifically comes to mind here, but Force Field Generator (for instance) is also a "pet" we can't control - despite it showing in the "pets" window.
If any pet type should have the same amount of control (thematically) as a Mastermind does over their minion, it would be the Patron pool pets. You are, again, summoning an independant, thinking being (Coralax, Mu mystic, Widow or Arachnobot) and - unlike controller pets - they're short duration, long recharge, so a tradeoff that allows you to give them orders would not really step on MM toes.
Controller pets, if they get any orders at all, SHOULD be simpler - "Stop, Go, Come here." I'd say we already have proof this wouldn't be a big issue *now* because (some) controllers already do this with Recall Friend, to a point. (And if any set would fall under "gamebreaking with full command," it would be Illusion. Blame that.)
Edit: Dammit, EG, don't agree with that last part while I'm still writing it! /moves doomsday clock slightly closer to "midnight"
Besides, we have indeed been specifically told that controller/dominator pets are made tougher and do more damage than comparable minions expressly because they don't have any control. The people who say they'd be nerfed if we were given controls aren't far wrong.
On top of all that, consider the quality of play. Sure there are situations where a dumb pet makes things harder. But I can easily foresee more situations where the need to give your pet commands would make it harder still. A buffing or healing controller, or an AoE specialist Dominator, is already busy enough on a team. When I'm in the mood to micromanage, I'll play my MM thanks. -

Quote:You do understand that if I were what you say I am, a post like this would be how I keep score.OMG WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH
I mean really your anal retentive self just HAD to come here to bash me? You know I get sick and tired of people that have no personal power in their real lives that feel the need to come bash people in a video game or on a forum. Internet tough guys FTW.
Whatever Im done talking to you. Ignore FTW -
Quote:I think that the existence of a written NDA isn't conclusive (or crcumstantial) evidence of anything except the fact they're getting tired of people taking the unwritten NDA as seriously. What do you think? Do you have any of your own crazy theories about Issue 20 and what could be under the NDA? Consider this more of a brainstorming thread as opposed to "holding your breath" thread. Also, if you're under NDA, please don't get yourself in trouble by posting info under the NDA.
Basically, the closed beta system has been an evolving process. Consider this another step in the evolution and wait to speculate on content when we have some facts. -
Quote:Yeah I considered pointing out the rules. Considering they clearly weren't interested in following them I saw little point. But yeah, end of the day the post serves no purpose and shouldn't be here (or anywhere in these forums). Here ya go. If you take the time to read this it will show you what you are, and are not allowed to post.

People thought I couldn't make something that looked like a giant lemur either. They were wrong.

Any character with a Rezz Other power will probably be getting Leadership, because Vengeance is fun. My Dominator will be getting the Stealth Pool, because 3 spots to drop LotGs in are a godsend. My main, MA/Regen Scrapper will boringly enough be getting more attacks sooner, since his attack chain ends up being pretty puny whenever I exemp down.
There's most definitely stuff I can do with this change, though I never asked for it or felt it was needed. Play dozens of alts, never felt the agonizing pain others claim they feel. -
Angry, frustrated, same difference. Just because people agreed with you about your rant, doesn't make it right.
