We also stealthed to the end, but our AV order was Nemesis -> Vanessa DeVore -> Countess Crey -> Gyrfalcon. Hmmm.

I'm 27 and I do it because I hate just staying put. Whenever I'm waiting for anything to happen, I'm running around at full superspeed jumping on rooftops; inside missions I'm always moving around targets. Even if it's just a single AV I tend to circle it while firing stuff.
Being a longtime FPS player may have something to do with that. Not moving = dead in those games, and it's a hard habit to break. -
The 113K patch on 2009.09.17 fixed this issue. The TF is now finishing properly and awarding the badge and merits. Nothing to see here, move along.
Someone posted a screenshot showing how they did manage to finish the Kahn TF. I can't find that thread now, so instead I'm making a new one to warn those who don't know: it's highly likely that as soon as you defeat the final mob in the final mission of this TF, the entire team will mapserve and not get any TF completion rewards. No merits, no badge.

For this particular run we defeated Reichsman before defeating Gyrfalcon to see if that made any difference. It did not matter; as soon as Gyrfalcon died, everybody crashed. As soon as we logged back in, the mission was completed and we had no way to redo it or get the rewards. -
I'll give it a look. Titan username is Leandro.

I ran the STF two days ago. Repairmen were spawning and they were being stopped by powers such a bonfire; they weren't triggering their heal immediately when spawning with no way to prevent it from happening.

Edit: dang, you people reply fast. -
Mender Silos TF. The Jade Spider just kicks so much <bleep!>.

By personal experience, a willpower scrapper can tank pretty dang well, and the set is generally regarded as one of the best, if not the best, for defense.

Quote:Freedom is generally accepted as having the higher population, followed by Virtue and then Infinity. Freedom has a little bit of everything, though that includes a high number of farmers as well. Virtue is the unofficial roleplaying server. I believe PVP was pretty strong in Infinity, but I'm not sure what happened post-i13.Hello, i´m wondering about us server populations. Which have a high number of badgers, villains and pvp?
Remember that Freedom and Virtue, being the highest population servers, also get overcrowded and this leads to more lag and people being locked out during double XP weekends. The new queue system in issue 16 should alleviate that, but it's something to consider. -

Quote:Someone else can answer this, I tend to go crazy with recovery bonuses until I have way more than I need.1. What is a good ratio for Endurance usage versus recovery for non WP/Regen and such toons? I know this is a "broad" question. For most powersets, I just do the standard 3 slotting of Stamina, use Atlas Medallion and mostly aim for 32% end reduction for most powers (more if needed).
Quote:2. "Typed" vs. "Positional" Defense, iirc, one generally trumps the other?
In short: most powers will have at least one damage type (smashing for example) and at least one positional type (melee for example). When you have defense to both things, the higher one applies. Some powers only have the damage type (mind attacks for example) or the positional type (exotic damage), in which case if you base your defense too much in the type of defense they don't use, you're going to hurt. -
Quote:It worked for me. You are probably entering it wrong. Copy and paste the following line exactly into your chat window:not workin
and please cce evil laugh with speech..i added that in message late.sorry
/macro elaugh "cce 2 ccevillaugh$$say Whatever you want"
This will create an "elaugh" button in your powers tray to change into your third costume and at the same time saying "Whatever you want" into the currently selected channel. Warning: if the currently selected channel is "Team" and you're not on a team, nothing will happen. If you want the speech to always be on Local, use this instead:
/macro elaugh "cce 2 ccevillaugh$$local Whatever you want" -
Quote:You found one of the "endless missions" contacts. There are several in the game; they are supposed to be used when you run out of "story" missions of that level, or provide "filler" content for zones that don't have proper story arcs, like the PVP zones. Typically, if you do a couple of missions for a contact and a little book doesn't appear by their name in the Contacts panel, they're not giving you proper "story" missions. My first question is about the missions. Around level 6 I went to my new contact who basically had a series of missions that were a choice between killing X-number of guys or enter warehouse and destroy/find 3 boxes of X. Is this typical for the rest of the missions in the game? (this is not a big deal, just curious)
More information on contacts here. List of actual story arcs with the contacts that give them here.
Quote:Second question is about respecs. One of my contacts (think it was Ms. Liberty) said there are 3 opportunities to respec that are one-time only. So after the third respec I can never respec again?
- 3 respecs you can earn doing the Terra Volta trial.
- 1 respec every time a new issue is launched (not stackable.)
- 1 respec per character for every year you play the game (veteran reward.)
- respec recipes available as drops or at the market.
- respec recipes buyable for $10 at the store.
I don't know anyone who ever paid the $10 for the store recipe, when you can buy then with in-game currency at the market. They are expensive (used to be around 20M inf but lately have soared to 100M inf), however you can make that much money rather easily by gathering Reward Merits (from doing missions, task forces, etc) and buying one of the other expensive recipes available in the Merit Vendor. A Luck of the Gambler: 7.5% Increased Recharge Rate recipe goes for as much or more than a Respec Recipe. And you could always get lucky with random 20-merit drops, or architect ticket drops. 100M inf is rather easy to come by if you know what you're doing. -
Nope, not tomorrow. Those preload patches usually happen a week or two before Live. It has all the art assets and other big files that won't be changed by smaller bug-fixing patches between now and release.

Quote:He might be referring to the fact that villain zones are huge and getting back to the mission after dying pre-travel power is a pain. If you die in one of the missions inside the Mercy fortress at level 6, you have to walk all the way from Kalinda to continue.I like the first comment. He didn't like CoV because of the "the steep penalties for dying on a mission." Steep? What game was this guy playin? There are barely any penalties for dying, none in the first 10 levels except for having to run back to the mission from the hospital. Even back in the first days of the game, with full debt from the beginning, it was nothing to get rid of it.

As I recall, it was Castle who said the powers system is designed and balanced around level 50, plus you don't want people having their purple IOs becoming obsolete. So, no, not gonna happen.

Quote:the matrix room is new to me though. someone mind mentioning how to get in there?
When you log out outside a door, you come out of that door when logging in. With that knowledge, you can find doors that are half-buried in the terrain in Peregrine Island / Monster Island and log off outside of them, then when you log back in you'll come out of them, and since they're half-buried, you'll be falling under the map.
Once you're there, just fly towards the arena. You'll see a giant blue cube under it. Fly directly below, and type /stuck. The game will think the closest "valid" location to put you in is inside the arena map, in the area behind the doors -- the "Matrix Room" pictured above. -
Quote:Awww, recognition! Just for that, I monitored Atlas Park on Infinity for a little while to capture 114 characters and get you these numbers:You're basically, like everyone else here except that guy who's doing the server zone fly-bys, doing nothing but making stuff up.
Male 64 / Female 40 / Huge 9
Now, really, sleepy time! -
Actually I have 456 for Freedom now, and 308 for Virtue. I just updated the numbers in my last post without making a new one. I'll visit the other servers tomorrow, I have to be up for work in 6 hours.
-
I captured 456 characters on Freedom, and the ratio stayed at about 2 males per female:
Male 271 / Female 152 / Huge 32
Next I headed to Virtue and did the same thing. Since Virtue has a certain... reputation... I expected a lot more females around. But after capturing 308 characters, the male to female ratio is still very high:
Male 170 / Female 105 / Huge 32
I can run this tomorrow when other people are online and capture another bunch. I'm recording each character's name and gender locally to avoid duplicates, and I can share the lists if needed.
Edit: I just visited what I'd consider the "worst case scenario", Pocket D on Virtue. The split was completely even there: Male 37 / Female 36 / Huge 1. However, since dialog (in Local!) included things like, Red Komodo turns his attention to Petite, "Come now, Petite... you know I am so much sexier... -- I'm not counting people on THAT zone as playing the same game as everyone else. -
Right this minute in Atlas Park, Freedom: 89 male characters, 43 female characters, 10 huge characters.
-
Piece of cake to get a random sample:
1. Record a demo file while flying around Atlas Park.
2. Parse the file for all the "COSTUME" lines, indicating a player costume.
3. If the first number after "COSTUME" is 0, character is male; 1, female; 4, huge.
I'll report with results in about 10 minutes.
