Two deaths on my Thugs/Traps Mastermind. Loved how they dropped some cute powers I didn't have! Tough, but very fun.
-
Anybody heard what is going to be in it? The last announcement is up to 31 pages, and I am not wading through that mess to find out. Anybody know off the top of their heads?

NM, decided to go with Ice/Fire after reading some of the guides.
-
... Fire/Ice or Ice/Fire
I'm going to go with one of them, but which is funner? I like ST damage the most, and range. No blapper here. So what would you suggest? -
Quote:MANY online sources would disagree with you. Google Edward Teach (or Thatch) Now, granted, many pirates changed their surnames to protect their family names while pirating, it is the one (of a few) generally accepted as his last name. At least while he was a pirate.Just a little nitpick, but Teach wasn't Blackbeard's real name. No one knows what his real name was, because he began using an alis right away and there are zero records of his life before becoming a pirate.

Thugs/Traps MM on Infinity. He is a US Navy Seal sent in undercover to investigate submarine incursions to the US from the Rogue Isles.
Code name : Brigantine (a type of ship favored by pirates)
Bart, Kidd, Morgan
Rackham, Sharpe
Teach (Blackbeards real last name)
When GR hits, he will jump back to Blueside.
I am thinking about a little girl Demon summoner when that comes out.
My bud made Mr. Brady on Victory, and I'm sure you can imagine all his pets names. -
The Def. bonus in Call To Arms, is that all the time, or only when I summon Gang War?
-
If I put the "Chance for Neg. Energy Damage" in the Touch of lady Grey set, in my Enforcer, does that apply to me and all my pets or just my Enforcers?
-
If you do, be sure to add how this game is "going to the Americas" ... and the jerk hackers.

44 this year. My wife is older and plays, but if I say by how much she will hit me!

Quote:This post is so full of win it's illegal!O-man, I had to take three hits on my puffer after I read this announcement! All my life I've dreamed of being captured and tormented by some Catwoman-esque type villianess ... now that dream is on the verge of reality. Thank you City of Heroes/Villians/Sidekicks!
I must confess that I haven't been this excited since my shift-supervisor at Wal-Mart said it was okay for me to greet people in my one-size-fits-most unitard!
And like last years April Folls bit, I WANT THIS ONE FOR REAL TOO!!! -
Change the first power to a Bolas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolas). They could use a modified animation of the "guy-in-cement-shoes" to make people hop around till it wears off. That would be kinda cool.

Jay made a post on this very topic a while back. He said he had made some styles and he hated the way they looked. I guess he was having trouble gettting them to work with the different sizes of characters. I'm sure somebody more search-fu proficient than I could find the post. I imagine Jay and his team (does he HAVE a team) will get back to it at some point. I think the desire for them is bigger than swishy tails, and we're getting those in GR (or I-17, I forget).

A few years ago somebody made a great post about using "gestalt powers". Basicly if you were willing to blow 2 power slots on something, the 2 powers combined to make 1 better power. i.e if you took Super Sped and Fly, you could fly faster. So on and so forth. It was a very well laid out post, with some really good suggestions. I'm sure the forum troll ate it by now (and the fan boys demanded it's utter destruction) but it was a good idea at the time.

Put one in front of every "City of Gyros" restaurant and when you collect them all it give an accolade called "Hero Gyro". The power heals you for 1 (one) point.

I had a little over 300 merits on my MM so I bought a Luck of the Gambler 7.5 Global Recharge and sold it and made 130 mill. Thought that was a pretty good deal. And I still have merits left if I need some other things.

I started as Miss Parabellum, but when I saw that I was going to be using the Cryo ammo most of the time, I used the server transfer trick to rename her 44 Ice.

I had the pleasure of talking to Ghost Falcon at Hero Con 1 on this very topic. My wife and I had been in several beta's, then we stopped getting in. I asked him why and he said for a long time they were getting the same people in there and they wanted to open it up more. It was not random. There was a "thing" to it, but (of course) he could not tell us what the "thing" was. Then the "thing" got changed so that different people could get in. That is straight from Ghost Falcons mouth. We were playing with the (then brand new) Zombie Apocolypse in the gaming room when we talked about this.
Many people on the boards have tried to come up with what the "thing" is, and I'm pretty sure most have been wrong, among the ideas have been Vet status (proven wrong MANY times), amount of posting on the boards (also proven wrong), as well as how many times you were on test (like the others, proven wrong).
The simple fact is, like others have said, we will never know for sure what the "thing" is and this is by design. Except for the "guaranteed in" people (60+ Vets, Hero Con attendees, etc) we will never know what the "thing" is and who is getting in future betas. And the Dev's want it that way. -
Personally I think the difficulty factor is THE reason for a badge being awarded. It's why we have 2 different badges for doing things like the Statesman TF. Once through and again for no deaths. No deaths is hard, you get another badge. Soloing an AV/GM is hard, give the guy a badge.
I am really failing to see the "No way don't do it" attitude. NOTE: I have NO (not one single character) that could get the badge. I have Scappers and Blasters and I still don't try to do AV's and GM's solo. But I know there are folks out there that LOVE that kind of challenge. And a shiny for the accomplishment, I think, is very warranted.
I know several folks who have Scrappers with the healing badges (tanks and Blasters as well). I was not saying they don't exsist. It's just not "easy" for them. Nor is it their primary role. Thats the point I was making. I mean let's face it, having a Healing shiny on a character that is not a "healer" type (by his/her AT mind you) is in and of itself a very cool thing. You took a mechanic of the game and used it to your best advantage, even though thats not what you were designed to do. Soloing an AV/GM is the same thing. And well worthy of a badge. -
Quote:I would totally agree with you if it were not for one thing, Healing badges. There is no "decent" (everyone please note the "decent" so you dont rip off on a tangent and look silly) way for my Dark/Dark Scrapper to get them. My options are to take aid other, and NOT do what I was designed to do (i.e. "scrap") to get the badge, OR go the Longbow Gladiator route and then it is not even ME doing it, it is an NPC.I spend a good deal of my time in the game soloing. Heck, I probably spend most of my time soloing. But there's just no real reason to add badges to say, "Hey, I did this solo."
Every character needs to have the ability to get any badge. A Claws/Regen Scrapper is going to have no problems taking down an EB solo, while an Empathy/Energy Defender is probably not going to be able to overcome their regen, period. And a "you spent 50 hours running solo" badge is just pointless fluff at this point, because there's so little challenge to it that it's unnecessary (kind of like how the SKing badges are all pointless now with Issue 16's Super Sidekicking--if you're a team leader, you rack up all the badges crazy fast, because it counts EVERYBODY in your team as a sidekick individually). It would also be crazy easy to farm; you'd earn credit for it every time you logged in to check the markets or just to chat with friends, as long as you weren't on a team.
To recap: Solo challenge badges are inaccessible to too many builds, and "running solo" badges are just plain pointless because you don't have to do anything to earn them.
Remember, this is a Massively Multiplayer Online game. If you want to be rewarded specifically for solo play, I suggest you check out one of the hundreds of decent single-player games released over the last 25 years.
Based on those I see no reason NOT to give a badge for soloing in this game. Specificly a badge for doing things solo that most would consider, generally speaking, a team thing. And Hard Kisses has suggested, I think, some very good ones.
And this is above and beyond the obvious relation (that was already stated) to heros/villains in comics. -
Quote:Orrrrrr (now stay with me here) It's a post from a guy who truly thinks some new badges that recognize people doing things in game solo, that are normaly done on teams is a good thing AND (this is where it gets tricky) HATES with every fiber of his being what fanboys do to good games.... I can't tell if this post is serious. It's either hypocritically demented or satirically brilliant.
Personally, Im going with the third option. But YMMV. :O
