  1. lvl 2 like the vip port. It is also purchasable under permanent powers , it is there and visible , just not placed on your hotbar like say the magic tarot thing.
  2. I have most the stuff for magic (did buy the booster)
The odd thing I lost was the monstrous skin. I didn't loose the hands, I didn't loose the odd legs that were originally launched with it.
I can't remember if they were magic or separate .. but the fur cover is now locked and tied to the animal full fur cover (I never purchased the animal themed one)
  3. To do the extreme of either side in praetoria you must be aligned. Otherwise they just won't talk to you. The middle of the road guys don't care. You also do not loose your original choice contact (praetor or scott). It doesn't affect your ability to do anything for White either.

The resistance crusader contacts are behind a resistance locked door (thus you must be resistance to talk to them). I think I did try before on a resistance character to get power folks and they just would not talk to me.

The alignment you are is really only an issue for Neuropolis, as you have to do crusader before you do warden (middle guys resistance). Otherwise switch back and forth as you go.

    autorenew?

Log into your account from the webpage and cancel it. You paid for the month and that game time is already given, you will go to premium at the end of the time paid. (instead of say having no access at all .. per the old system)
  5. I just know I am going to be messed up. My account got all screwy when they did things to the accounts before. It gave me many vet rewards that I technically did not earn.

I did buy an account back in the mists of early time, but I have only paid for a certain stretch of time. Somehow I know that the fault to my favor last time , will fault to my real status this time. -sigh-

That will be the only whining I do about it -waves good bye to wings-.
  6. I am in process of this right now , on the last arc in Imperial. It isn't that hard really. Tedious? often..

do read the guide and make sure you do things in the order you need to. Honestly you should be done with White before the issue of Cleo ever comes up. Don't move on to the next zone til you are done with the prior zones , it will save you some headaches. That lets you work on the 2 rules at the top of the guide. It doesn't matter what side you are on when you get into imperial but it does matter to let the Responsibility guy wait til you are done with Warden.
It -is- a good idea to plan to go into Neuropolis as a Resistance member to get the Crusader out from under you , then choose as you like ..always remembering to go loyalist long enough to finish the Power arc.

I actually stop leveling before the cut off to make sure I can do the arcs one after the other.
In other words .. I lock'd xp at lvl 8 and lvl 13 til I finished the first and second zones. I will probably lock at 18 to avoid any issues in Neuro.

One more suggestion is to set all missions down to -1 level and you are worth one hero. You are not there for levels, or even loot (as it is actually a pain in the **** to get rid of locked into Praet)..you are there for story , make it easier on yourself. I still got my rear handed to me in some spots.

    Coh crashing

1 make sure you used the driver cleaner. If any bit of the previous drivers are still active it will mess with City of.
    2. If 11.4 doesn't work , 11.2 should.
    3. If you are using windows 7 you should set aero to disable during play (yeah it makes the desktop so plain but it will auto reset afterward). You do this by right clicking the icon you usually use ->properties->open file location.. then find cityofheroes.exe again right click->properties->compatibility-> and uncheck desktop themes and composition.

Technically composition alone should work but if you have some funky icon/widget things going on you want to disable the theme too. City of also prefers to run as admin and will require it to disable the desktop theme (so check that too).
  8. I have ...
watched the DSL market go from something oddball and rare to obsolete (including eventually loosing my job in the market)
I moved back home from a rather large city. There are good and bad things to both sides of that.
I did get home in time for my mother to know I loved her before I lost her to cancer.
I got hit by a car wile still in the large city, which changed my life permanently. This single situation has made me far more understanding of folk who have invisible handicaps.
On the other hand, said situation has made my other half grow up, and become the man he wanted to be. (loud cheering)
I watched my son grow from a child into a teen. (almost at 12..but in middle school)

Life has passed and we are still here, though I wasn't as frequent a subscriber to CoH as I would have wanted to be. I have always returned. I still dream , and this game allows me to do so easily.
  9. Hmm..

Sometimes , they just want to watch it all burn.

I've tried and tested several characters, and I think my favourite is a Demon Mastermind and a Stalker. (Btw I thought Stalkers were supposed to be locked until I leveled at least one character to level 20, but somehow it unlocked itself the 3rd or 4th time I logged on.. On day 2 I believe.)
Stalkers are a base AT (archtype) Widows and soldiers are not.

    I'm playing on Freedom atm.

My DM is level 7, and my Stalker is only 3.

However before I carry on, I would just like to ask...

Is there a major differences to choosing your origin?

I've heard that choosing the Science origin gives you slightly harder enemies at the start. Other than that, and storyline, is there a difference? I keep going Science because I like the fact that your Science ability gives you a chance to Sleep mobs.
There is an individual inherant power for each origin. Throwing knives for Natural for instance. The enemies you face if doing the regular quest path also differ on Blue side, red side not so much as the Red side quest path is more about externals than you individually.

    Second...

When I get the chance to respec in the future...

Do I get to rechoose origins? I know I CAN'T rechoose powersets, but I couldn't find anything about Origins.
You cannot rechoose Primary/Secondary , AT nor origin. Respecs are a dime a dozen these days. If they fiddle too much when making a issue(patch/update) we get a freerespec it may even be standard now to do that. 3 trials (long quest lines done in a group) give you respecs, recipies can give you a respec, vet rewards give you respecs.

    Archtype (fundamentally your class)

PPS: Are EM Stalkers still as overpowered in single target DPS? I tried both EM and DB, I kinda prefer the DB animations more... =)
No idea, but this game thrives on altitis ..make both.

PPPS: Demon Mastermind? I heard it's the most powerful Mastermind, but the demons just remind me of Warlocks and their Imps from WoW, which I'm trying to get away from. I like the idea of Ninja Masterminds, but I've heard they are somewhat weak. Fast, albeit, but weak.
    Look..
Let me be helpfully blunt. You can go one of 3 ways in this game. You can go the altitis route and make characters for the joy of doing so (and possibly RP as well), you could make the ONE TRUE BUILD .. which will have you jumping archtypes and power sets every other patch, or you could PVP .. which I would gracefully point you in the direction of that sub board to ask questions about.

I have seen so many different kinds of builds come and go that chasing the cookie cutter isn't worth it in my book. Your mileage may of course vary.
I will note that many mobs here have resistances some are difficult to hit with certain combinations of powersets, most things can be gotten around with careful slotting of enhancements but let me put it this way..
We have a badge for how much damage you take, and I am pretty sure we have a badge for how much debt you incur (from dying). You will faceplant. There is no uber untouchable that lasts. Relax .. find what you enjoy.
  11. Add me to the list of mastermind fail... Course I can't play a "hunter" in that other game either.

    Lets see -eyes character list-
Seems I have an addiction to controllers mental ones at that, but any controller will do in a pinch.
You would think that would suite the mastermind mentality, but I don't want my battlefield moving, I want to lock ...it ... down.
Unless I am playing chaos. -grin-
  12. Google

I am serious, I google parts of the character idea til I find something that works.
  13. Most things I yell at my monitor occur only after such levels of frustration that I have turned into a varitable harpie. The walls turn color, and the sky ripples with lighting as my curses rain down.

Or something like that ...usually it is a judicious WTF.
  14. I don't watch many movies. So few of them have situations that I want to pay witness to or be involved in.

That said, I lean heavy to the cheer on factor if I am dealing with a heroic personality.
If dealing with a Villain I need something to identify with or I won't understand what twisted them to this point.

Taking that into consideration my ability to identify with many situations doesn't make this as much of choke point as it might seem.

I find it easier to be "someone else" if I have a 3d perspective. The ability to pull back and see the world, see the person in it.. and strive to relate to how they are viewing things is grand.
Floating guns are always -me-. I rewrite the story in my head to facilitate the fact that Gordina Freeman is doing these things. -grin- The short of it is, in a game where I am expected to react on instinct and twitch "I" must be entirely present. Thus I cannot pull out of the "kill box". If anything a few hours later I look up and wonder what I have been doing.

MMO's run the risk of that for me as well, and it has ruined more than one character I set out to create. I suppose it is called scrapperlock here, but having delt with the symptoms years earlier in Quake I just call it the box. There is nothing in view but what dies next, and anything that prevents that is taken care of on the way. This kills my characters. I become too present in them and any story they have is washed away.
I suppose at that point I am identifying but I find it frustrating to see work of weeks, sometimes years disappear in a frantic afternoon spent trying to progress.
  15. Yep gata register

    ...
Snowglobe has a point, but it won't even let you click over until you register now. Thus.. register and be prepared for load delays. The whole site seems to be a bit wonky, likely due to bandwidth issues
  16. If you are normally a empathetic person, and tend to act or write from the exact point of view of the character in question.
    Feeling is almost manditory.

There are different kinds of actors, storytellers, and various ways to make these personalities, faces, characters , lives live for us and often Life hurts.

I do agree with the ... let your character get hurt. There is no depth if nothing has been lost or found.
