Go to accounts and cancel billing to stop the account from autorenewing.
Log into your account from the webpage and cancel it. You paid for the month and that game time is already given, you will go to premium at the end of the time paid. (instead of say having no access at all .. per the old system)
Go to account management and select "Cancel VIP". You will still get to play what you have payed for. When that time is up, you will lose VIP status and play as Premium after that.
From the popup when you cancel:
"Cancelling will return this account to Free to Play status once your current time expires. If you are on recurring billing, you will no longer be billed for this account. Are you sure you want to cancel this account?"

Keep in mind there is no option to do a one time payment for a single month of subscription time. Most MMO's follow that same set up. Basically if you want to pay month to month you subscribe... wait to see the charge happen and confirm you have game time for the next 30 days and then cancel the subscription. You'll have to do this every month if you want to pay month to month. Incidentally it seems less annoying to simply buy game time cards and apply them when you see fit.

Last year, I spent my entire free month fighting with both to get my account unlocked because PayPal didn't trust the NCSoft billing and "tested" the request for payment.
Tracking down the source of the problem was a bunch of "it's not on our end, it's on the other end" finger pointing.
For what it is worth, it ended up not being PayPal for me. That doesn't necessarily hold true for everyone.
your best bet if you want to sub without autorenew is to use Time cards that can be found at Best Buy and Maybe Gamestop(?)

But good luck finding them time cards in stores other than during the Xmas holidays. Not sure if Game cards (30 day time card, game activation, 30 day jet pack) have been pulled or not with the onset of CoH:Freedom.

Bestbuy says they can order them in. They don't typically have them on hand but have them in their warehouses (or a central warehouse which can send to peripheral warehouse?) - I don't remember exactly what they said. I asked earlier today because a friend of mine got rid of all debit/credit cards and removed all payment presence from the internet because he's trying to get his uncontrolled spending...er ...under control.

hello, I just paid for a one month subscription to city of heroes. When i check my email it says that my account is set on autorenew. I do not want that and I can't seem to find the option to deselect it. Can anyone help?
