  1. I won't be doing anything in I14 for a few days, since the 9th is the exact day on which I'll be leaving for a 4-day weekend trip

But then, at least I'll avoid all the login and server troubles that are bound to happen just after launch. I got an additional day off after coming back from my trip on monday, so plenty of time to catch up
  2. I'd been playing MMOs for years at that point (UO and later SWG), and was aware of - and vaguely interested in - CoH since its launch. Then CoV came out, which made it even more appealing (not just the Villain version as such, but both sides being in the same game, for one subscription fee), so about two months after CoV was released, I finally caved in and got the game
  3. A few of those almost look like the animal in question, while looking for a place to die, had slowly and painfully pulled itself up to its perch on the top of the head of the girl in question, and promptly expired there, its last strength - and will to live - finally being exhausted.

The rabbit especially gives me the creeps...

Karma catching up to you, you think? :P
  5. Hmm, don't know about xp rewards, but as far as I remember, it was stated that kills etc. in user created missions don't count towards your badges - so no big Marcone Boss farming maps, or similar things...

Of course, there'll be a bunch of new badges to get, so it's all good (I hope)

    Merit bubble?

    [ QUOTE ]
I haven't checked yet if I'll still get merit rewards even if I'm out of the XP range

    [/ QUOTE ]

You will, but with diminishing returns if you keep doing the same flashback arc on the same day - you'll get fewer merit rewards the 2nd time around, and so on.

That robot thing is really amazing. Really impressive how it catches itself when they make it lose its balance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Impressive? Yes. But creepy as hell too, especially in connection with the sound it makes
  8. Hmm, I wonder what the mist from the waterfall does to their electronic systems...

But yeah, we definitely need the big bank of screens as a base item I know that you can probably sort of simulate that from single items, but it would be nice to have as one big decoration. Plus, pets (robotic or otherwise) that wander about your base would be very cool too (although that's very different from static decorations and probably would require some substantial programming work that might be better spent elsewhere...)

    Looks like Manticore funded it

    And on that note:

At least their enemies always fight in the shade...

Thank you, you've been a great audience. I'll get my coat now.

    SS and WP

    [ QUOTE ]
i think we should nerf . way too powerful in the hands of golden girl

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why, that would be like taking away Superman's cape... or Cap'n America's Shield... or, or,... Batman's Shark-Repellant Bat Spray!

(and as an added side-note to the OP, this thread has actually made me roll up a SS/WP Brute because I wanted to see what all the fuss what even about )

    SS and WP

    My Brute is SS/Inv.

    He dies a lot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for putting my mind at easy, because that thread really made me feel like a noob... which I probably still am, but I honestly don't see what the big deal is about SS

My only SS/* character is also a SS/Inv, and I've already strongly considered deleting him, because I just can't stand the thought of the approx. one and a half levels I still need to do to make it to level 20 and Stamina. He routinely runs out of endurance after plowing through 3-4 opponents, and that's with just Temp Invul as a toggle. Faceplants usually follow quickly if I face more than 1 Lt. and three minions or so and don't run away to regen after every fight. How powerful SS is supposed to be is a moot point in this light, because he hasn't got enough wind to make it through two consecutive groups of baddies without needing a lie-down and a nice cuppa tea...
  12. Oh the irony - the complainers being too busy playing the game and earning double xp to actually complain

And now 'scuse me, the game should be finished loading by now

Bugger - totally forgot about the evening session, what with getting a Steam account and trying out some of the games. Not that it would have helped much if I had remembered though, because at about 7.20pm my internet connection stopped working for 2.5 hours... *sigh*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ummm sadly I got <ahem> sidetracked by the lure of Katie Hannon and shiny shiny badges and it totally slipped my mind

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh... at least I wasn't the only one then. And we do have the xmas pics anyway - thanks for setting those up

    Graphics cards

I'm not in a position to compare current vid card models, as I only just got a new PC for the first time in four years. But that being said (and keeping in mind Sinergy's advice about your processor speed playing a part in performance as well), my current card is a HD4870 1gb, and I can highly recommend it.

I don't really have any very current games right now (got Fallout 3, but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet), so my benchmark for it so far was Vanguard (which was rather infamous when it came out early last year for its challenging system requirements), and that is no problem at all on highest settings. CoX (also with everything maxed out) doesn't even seem to register much, I can dual-log both my accounts without getting any lag.
  16. Sure, I should be able to make it
  17. I'm in the same position as GG - would have made today without problem, but tomorrow could be tricky. I might make it to one of the two, but not sure yet. I'll try my best to be there
  18. Woohooo I missed it last year, but this time I'll be there (I hope). I could even bring my brand-new second account which I only got two days ago. This make it look like there's at least a dozen people on Defiant

    Winter Event?

I really can't do the whole skiing thing - can anyone give useful pointers to a ski novice?? I always miss pretty much every gate

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're not the only one.. i guess my hand eye co-ordination just isn't good enough Not got any of the skiing badges..

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm glad I'm not the only one who just goes "Huh?" to those people that got their Gold badge on the first evening. I managed Silver on both runs now, but that only by a hair's breath (59.88 on the bunny slope!) and through what for me were pretty much perfect runs that I can't see myself improving significantly. How anyone can be almost 20 seconds faster on the new slope without immediately running off the course (which I already manage with just Sprint on, never mind any speed buffs) is completely beyond me
  20. Agreed. That was one small but highly annoying glitch
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, I've destroyed every trace of my sent and received messages, bought a disguise and a one-way ticket to South America, where I will wait for further instructions from an NCSoft agent

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is it me, or are you starting to think like a villain?

  22. Landlubber

    Its all shiney

Heh yeah, I'm in the same boat. I did notice the shinyness, but then I got a new PC a few weeks ago, and I attributed it to my graphics being at max setting for the first time since I'm playing CoX. So you mean it hasn't always been that way?
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Perhaps this would be a good day for all those evil type to think about mending their ways

    [/ QUOTE ]

What, you mean instead of the usual old smash-kill-destroy we should subvert the system Lex Luthor-style and try to get elected to a high political office like Paragon City Mayor, at which point we could start flinging nukes around and declaring war on everything that moves?

I'll keep that suggestion in mind, thanks
  24. [ QUOTE ]

Now, how can I re-create getting trapped in the donut shop.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't worry, the police day job is also accessible at Police Stations
  25. Landlubber

    I feel Guilty.

    [ QUOTE ]

Fair play, and if GG did mean that, then fair enough, but a simple post of clarification could have solved that a few hours ago. Perhaps I over-reacted and for that I'm happy to apologise, but until GG clarifies things, I stand by my opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

She said the villains are sick and disgusting. Which is kinda the point, since the game is called City of Villains.

But Villains != Players, so I honestly don't see what there is to clarify for GG. Seems clear enough to me...

I sure didn't feel insulted, even though I mainly play CoV (and I also think Phipps' story-arcs are among the best in CoV for all the reasons stated above)
