  1. It's most likely a 400-450w PSU. If bare minimum, 350w PSU. Even so, it will likely not include the required connectors, as Father Xmas has mentioned.

As for PSU recommendations (Because the GPU choice is more than excellent), I'd recommend the following:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817233010
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341022
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171036

Any of them should be more than enough.

Bewarned that the GTX 460 768MB is a good amount inferior to the GTX 460 1GB. For CoH, however, I would not worry too much about it.

You may also acquire this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500173 as it has a rebate, as well as being $5 cheaper than the EVGA before rebate. Zotac is a fine company to choose for video graphics, but may differ in warranty and does not include EVGA's step-up program.
  2. I would not recommend HP laptops, at all. They tend to be designed with a 2 year lifespan with an incredibly inefficient cooling system (loud AND hot). I'd either stick with the Asus, or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220695 . This one is faster by around 10-20%, but might be variable due to CoH not working well with ATI cards in the past.

Most Asus laptops (that I've worked with) tend to have excellent cooling systems. When comparing them to HP laptops, the Asus laptops are beyond better. They also don't have that loud annoying fan noise that plagues HP laptops.

Unfortunately, I don't know much of the quality of Dell laptops recently. In the past, they were only slightly better than HP laptops, since they didn't have that incredibly loud fan noise. Still hot, but I think the HP laptops were hotter. As for lifespan, they tend to maybe have better lifespans. HP laptops start having things break within 2 years, and break even more after that. With Asus after 1 year: No problem so far.

Here's an overview of the Nvidia GTS 360M as well as benchmarks:
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-...M.24058.0.html
You can compare it to other mobile video cards and decide which one's better.
  3. Verify files. Should fix the problem. It's not a video card problem. It's a file problem.
  4. Here's the thing, Safe Mode does not let me log on to the character stuck in Talos whatsoever. Why does it work on others, though?
  5. Yep, still stuck in Talos, can't log in. Other people seem to have no issues, but apparently we do. Don't get it either. Can we get a server maintenance like... ASAP?
  6. Don't need to be logged on. Just send in a petition or ticket. They'll move it even if you are offline, but I think by now they are currently offline. I had my character moved, but got stuck again cause there was a mission in Talos. I took the risk, and voila... stuck again.
  7. It's apparently only Virtue's Talos Island. I can log into Talos Island on Infinity fine.
  8. So yes, a GM moved one of my characters. I tried to zone into Talos Island again... same results. The same character is stuck yet again. For some REALLY odd reason other people seem to zone into Talos Island fine and problem free. Is it a server or client issue? Because I really don't know. It has only happened since Sunday. I was in Talos Island on Saturday fine and had nothing happen to any of my characters.

Ditto, Happened to me. Gonna see if there's a workaround.

Edit: Doesn't work with graphics in safemode. Can't do the consignment house warp cause you can't even log into the damn character. Must be something else you are talking about, jp74.

And apparently, I have 3 characters in Talos. None of them can be logged in.
  10. My only recommendation is to ramp up the fan on the video cards. You can do this with MSI Afterburner or EVGA precision, however the applications must be off after you set the fan speed, as they both produce some kind of conflict with CoH while running.

Yes, the 258.96 seems to have some kind of issue with restarting. Ramping up the fan speed to cool it down merely delays the auto-shutdown thing, as I have had it happen after 3 hours of gameplay. My card is a GTX 275, if anyone is wondering.
  11. Found that Alchemy produces a noticeable FPS hit when enabled.

Also, prior to this, 3d Sound works even WITHOUT Alchemy. But I don't know the quality between with or without Alchemy with 3d sound enabled.

    Ambushes - FFS

Some of the tip missions are pretty bad on ambushes as well, though nowhere near the level of some of the Praetorian missions. For the Tip missions, it's just frequency of ambushes. Basically, once you defeat an ambush, within two to five seconds, another comes up. Then after that, two to five seconds later, another one. And another one. And another one.

As for one really bad Praetorian mission in terms of ambushes, well this mission was basically full of Praetorian Clockwork. You had Crow and two of his buddies to help you.

    Problem?

Every time you kill a group, there's like 4 Praetorian clockwork to ambush you... if solo. That's not so bad. If you are in a duo? 6-8 Praetorian Clockwork. Trio? 8-12. Four of you? 12-16. Eight of you? 20-32. Don't forget that there are bosses that will tear you apart.

Now I don't know the real numbers, but the scaling of the mission was just plain ridiculous. The main problem was that they would basically be 4 of them, +0. Then 8 of them, +0 or +1. Then 12 of them, +1 or +2. And so on. At a full group, it would basically be a big fat mob of them, +2. Don't think there were any +3.

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact mission. I am sure it's in the Crusader Storyline, but it was someone else's mission, not mine.
  13. Think "Looking for Contacts" needs a complete reset. Plus timestamp.
  14. Yep. Happens to me as well. It's a Nvidia 257 driver, though don't remember which 257 driver. GTX 275. Usually happens after I zone indoors, then back outdoors in Praetoria. Never happens on Primal Earth zones. It's a full-screen black, then back to normal. One to three flickers happen very quickly in a matter of half a second, and happens every 5-10 or so seconds when it starts to flicker. I have not tested if it happens while I'm still or only if I am moving. Shadow settings on Medium. Most of the rest of the settings, except for Ambient Occlusion, are maxed. 1920X1200 Resolution, if it matters. V-Sync Off. I believe I have 2x or 4x AA.
  15. If you are using any rivatuner-type applications (MSI Afterburner or EVGA precision), that is what is causing the crash. If not, it might be something else.

I have a super safe motherboard I guess.
Actually, it should be fine if it isn't plugged it. It would just not run at optimal performance.

The molex to 6-pin adapter should work fine, however.

What crashes? I have it running, and the only problems I get are basically graphics card applications like MSI afterburner or GPU-Z while running. Otherwise, it's more than fine.

Turn off Vertical Sync for the 60 to 30 FPS drops. You'll start to get FPS in between. I had this problem as well, and I forgot that I had vertical sync on in the game settings, and did not force it through Nvidia Control Panel. Turned it off, and it's fine. Odd that it's pretty strict in going around the range of 30 and 60, where in other games with v-sync on, it's not so dead-set on 30 and 60.

In any case, with v-sync off, it's a better indicator of performance because it doesn't hover so much on the 30 and 60 fps mark with a 60hz monitor.

Late post, but in case anyone else was having the same or similar "problem".
  19. Retried it. It is fixed. But I probably tried it ages ago and it was broken back then.

It still lags like hell though.
  20. Because Bloom and/or DoF doesn't mix with Anti aliasing. At least what I've tried. Those two options just plainly cancels AA, if I recall correctly from my experimentation.

And why would you think JCB and spammers are related?
