Game very choppy- help!
I just got my computer back from the repair shop, with a brand new motherboard and an extra gig of RAM. So CoH should be running well, right? Umm, no. The graphics are running choppy right now, and when I type, it lags a second or two behind my actual typing speed.
I'm running 2 gigs of RAM, and a GEFORCE 9600 card right now. I'm not doing much at all with ultra settings- I even turned world detail down some, but it didn't help. So what do I have to do? Some of my teammates said I need to reinstall my video card drivers, somebody else said I need to reinstall windows! I sincerely hope it's not the latter- Windows came on this computer (HP a1250n) and I don't even know if I have a dedicated windows install disk. |
I try updating your Video Driver. Heck you might even want to double check to see if that new Motherboard driver is up to date.
I updated the video driver, and it seemed to help, a little. But things were still sorta laggy. I got a message when I restarted my computer, saying my card wasn't getting enough power, and to make sure the supplemental power connector (I think that's what it was called) was hooked up. It also said that the card's performance would be reduced to safe levels to prevent damage. I recently put a new power supply into my computer, which is powerful enough. But something may not be hooked up in there.
Might that be it?

I don't know sounds a bit more then what I can do. Post your system information someone might be able to help you if they can tell more. Another possibility is your system Bios aren't set up right with your new Motherboard.
But that just a guess.

Is there a 6 pin power connector on the end of your video card? If so, is there anything in it?
|
Your power supply probably came with a PCI-E connector (the 6 pins Blue is referring to) This needs to be plugged into the card.
If your power supply didn't come with one and your card requires one, you can go to your local PC shop and ask for a molex to PCI-E adapter. ( some video card actually come with those so you can check your graphic card box also)
ZOMG.... if it is that you don't have the 6 pin plugged in.......
You're lucky you didn't fry anything.
Tried that on mine, and my machine refused to boot, didn't even respond.....
I have a super safe motherboard I guess.

The molex to 6-pin adapter should work fine, however.
