Quote:I believe this too. Back in the day when my SG was actively recruiting, we did kick a few for not living up to the colours. Rare, since we team with people a fair bit before sending out the /sgi, but it did happen. It's just my belief that when you wear an SG tag, you represent that SG. Your actions reflect on everyone else in the SG. I have actually, in the past, booted people from an SG (back when I cared about running one) for this very reason. Not before speaking to them about it and giving them fair warning ahead of time, mind you.
It's this same reason that some companies expressly forbid their employees to engage in certain activities while wearing a company uniform or driving a company vehicle. The US military is a classic example. People see the uniform first and the individual second. Even if it is not intentional, there is a subconscious association.
I can still remember the silly sod who decided to take his hatred of Ghost Falcon sitting PLers into his own hands many years ago. Not only did my mixed level 8 man team get annoyed enough to /petition his rear end, but we also lodged a complaint with the leader of his SG, who we happened to know. Dude got a three day vacation from the game and a boot from his SG for his troubles. His SG leader didn't appreciate him sullying their colours. -
According to a friend of mine who just found out that he's unemployed now but was part of the Xfire development team, Xfire has had more than one company court them for a buy out. He's been preparing just in case the the company was sold for a while now, the better part of a year, on the chance that the development team was not asked to stay. What that means for the program is uncertain, but the fact that nearly the entire development team is now being given severance packages it bodes ill for it in my book.

You're more likely to find the people who can help in the Tech issues forums than here.

Quote:Ok, so it hasn't changed on me while I was gone then. Good to know. I spent a lot of inf outfitting her build for recharge, and even I couldn't do it.I also read that, but unless you have extreme recharge, the only way you could have it on 2 people is if you cast it on a second person and watch it wear off the first person moments later. To me, thats only keeping it on one person. Just my opinion though.
Maybe he was referring to a tag-team of Emps using AB on each other ? -
Quote:I feel much the same way. I learned a lot about the game from observing the other ATs when playing my empath, who was my first character to any significant level.I've always found Empathy to be a unique set in that it requires a player to know his/her teammates' strengths and weaknesses to be as effective as they most possibly could. When I team on my Empathy/Sonic, I /info all my teammates before doing anything else so I'm aware of what everyone is running, and what powers they have. That gives me a preliminary idea of who will make best use of my buffs. I'm always prepared to adapt my tactics, however, based on how my teammates' toons actually perform in battle.
Also, has the recharge on AB changed significantly in the last few months? When I left last, it required a buttload of recharge to just keep up permanently on one person, and I've heard at least one person say on this thread that they can keep it up on 2. -
Quote:Are you sure you're using the right username/password combination? What does it do when you try to log in?I'm probably going to get trolled for this, but I haven't seen HOW to reactivate my account for the Double XP/Free Reactivation Weekend. Someone mentioned just logging into the game, but it's not allowing me to do so and I know my account is in good standing, just haven't played in about 3 years. Account management doesn't have anything that I can tell, only asks me for game cards and the like. I'd like to try it out this weekend before I decide to drop some coin on a subscription and the expansion.
So how the heck do I reactivate?
As stated, since you can post, assuming you don't have 2 accounts, your account has been reactivated. You should just be able to log in. -
Quote:I had someone scream at me once, on Triumph, that my heals weren't doing enough. Guy wasn't even on my team, but the green numbers weren't big enough for him. *boggle* So no, Triumph is not immune.I keep seeing post after post after post of people using the words "surely," "likely," "probably" and even "definitely" in regards to people getting kicked from teams due to perceived "bad power choices."
Let me give some examples of people who, according to the forums, will get kicked from the team because of their own foolish considerations:
- A Mastermind with no Henchmen
- An Arachnos Soldier or Arachnos Widow without Tactical Training: Maneuvers
- A Kinetics without Fulcrum Shift
- Any Kheldian
Maybe I'm just lucky, or perhaps Triumph is just a better server than the others, but in my experience, you are not going to get booted from a team based on your power selections.
Also: petless Mastermind /plug
PUGs are funny things. Sometimes you'll find that min maxer who can't stand the idea of an inefficient build, and some who probably wouldn't even know how to check a build. -
Quote:It's total. If you play for 6 months, let your account lapse for a year, and then come back and play for a further 5 months, you'll have 11 months of vet time.I think offering rewards regardless of how "lame" they may be is awesome and I'm not going to complain. However being faily new I have a question regarding them and don't want to make a new thread for it...
How do they count the months? Are they consecutive or is it 60 (or however many) total? Like if I played for a couple months quit and came back would those first two count towards that total? -
Which IMO would undermine the entire point of veteran rewards. How is it a reward for paying and playing in the long term if someone who just joined can get it?

BabyMage is now 2. She dislikes her stroller. She wants to walk around and see stuff, but she does get distracted. When she gets fixated on something and doesn't want to follow me anymore, I can get her attention by giving her my keys with it's shiny red panic whistle to play with, and take her hand.
Ok, LM. You have a kid. What does that have to do with COH?
I'm getting to that. SGmates of mine told me that the PVP zones are essentially empty these days. Don't know why, and don't care, but there are badges to be had in there, and I decided to try to get them. I started with the rocket launches in Warburg, and sure enough I ran into not another soul run by a player. However, those scientists are actually very tall 2 year olds. I have never seen grown men and women get so distracted by shiny objects in my entire life! I had to step by step show a woman how to get over a simple ramp bridge by walking down the middle of it - she wanted to run off the edge for some unknown reason. Maybe if I had the shiny red panic whistle with me, she might have taken less than a full 5 minutes to walk across a bridge. I'm quite sure my daughter would have done it faster.
So my odd brand of humor aside, we need some better NPC pathing. If my 2 year old can follow me better than grown men and women can in game, there's a problem. I would really love to see them grow up. I don't know really the first thing about coding, and it wouldn't matter if I did, but I would really like to see this mechanic reworked. PVP zones are not the first, only the most recent places that I've seen this problem. -
If your build is tight, AP is droppable.
It's useful, don't get me wrong. I've pulled some behinds out of some very nasty fires with it. But I really don't use it often at all. and go missions at a time without ever touching it. If you've got fort and AB slotted up for recharge, and know how to place them for mitigation, and are using your RAs when they're up, you should very rarely find yourself in a spot where HO isn't cutting it. -

Quote:Absolutely. When slotting, especially for IOs, Recharge >>>>> All (including healing). My first 50 and my namesake character just finished slotting out her IO build (Yes, I know, I'm slow) and she's sitting at a standing 50% global recharge bonus before hasten, and the difference is night and day.Between the RAs, Fort, Rez and Adrenalin boost, Empathy seems to be one of those sets that benefits from lots of +recharge.
As usual with an internet discussion, we're going back and forth between extremes. No, empathy isn't needed in the upper levels. But then, nothing is. When my 50 tank can crank up the difficulty to 8 people and stand there taking a beating while I go make a sandwich, she doesn't really need anything else. Neither does my 50 scrapper when I crank up the difficulty high into the purples. Heck my newest 50, my Elec/ice blaster can tank for small teams with no defenders or controllers in the team. This game does very well in making the content available with little gating.
The question we should be asking - are Empaths useful? Sure they are. A good empath backing up my tank makes her hit harder, hit more often, and not have to worry about having greens and blues. A good Empath backing up my scrapper means she chews up those deep purples faster and easier. A good Empath backing up my blaster means she has to hit the aid self and ROTP button a little less, and kill things a lot more. Would another defender be able to fill that void? Sure they would, in different ways. But that doesn't undercut or diminish what the empath brings to the table.
Rule number #1: Nothing is *needed* in this game.
Rule number #2: There are bad players in every AT, they're just more noticeable in some roles than others.
Rule number #3: A good player can make anything shine.
Rule number #4: More buffs/debuffs are almost always better than less. -
Going to third (or are we up to more than that?) for LOTRO. It's my other MMO. I enjoy it very much, but then I'm a Tolkien geek. I do miss the SK feature when I play it though - best MMO feature in the history of ever, but it satisfies my crafting yen in a way that IOs can't.

Every zone has neighborhoods, when you enter them you'll get the name of it pop up on your screen and get a peice of music come up. You have to make sure that you're in the New Connaught neighborhood for the firbolg to count. There should be a neighborhood marker on your map to help you. IIRC that one is the bottom left of the Croatoa map.

And make sure you're checking the same server you played last time too.

Quote:Almost everyone in my SG started playing in 04. They take breaks now and again. I just recently got my 4th 50, and despite 2 breaks, I'm up to 60+ months.Sorry, I know 4 or 5 people in my SG that have more time in than you. And a couple more that started at the same time as us. Then there is this thread from some months ago, that had people here that already had 60+ months, and this one that is specifically for people that were 60 month veterans, back in May. So there are many, many more people than 5-10 that have played longer than you. And yes, I am one of them, I will get my 66 months award next week.
Oh yeah, and I only have 1 50. And 60+ alts in various stages of growth. Which suits me fine, because the fun is in the getting there. -
Yes, seriously. Only one power on auto. Ever. Been that way since Launch.

Not yet, but I have the other 5. Sitting about 7.4 mil.

Once again, I declare the vet rewards working as intended. Some people complain about them being too much and they should be available to everyone. Some people complain that they're lame and should be bigger. Since we're getting complaining on both ends, the reality's probably in the middle.

Things I've never done:
Never gotten a villian to 50. Closest is 45.
Never gotten a kheld past 25 or a controller past 30. The others I've gotten to 50.
Never done the last 2 SFs, not even sure which they are.
Never done the LRSF.q
Havn't done the new fifth column tF or SF
(sorry for odd typing, have a little birthday girl trying to help me type)
Most PVP stuff I havn't done.
Havn't published an AE arc yet.
Don't have a MSTF badge on any of my characters yet.
Don't have empath on any characters yet (my empath main is 74% there)
Don't have anyone fully slotted with IOs yet. No, I'm not kidding.
Never done a new hammi raid, despite beign a regular at the old ones for a while. -

I've always thought that defenders, being buff/debuff/heal and damage should be encouraged to use both halves of their nature. IE if someone uses x number of primary powers in a row, they'll have an increasing damage buff, and if they use x number of attacks in a row, they'll have a PBU-esque buff to their primary powers. But I'm nutty like that.
But I have to say, I'm relieved to see that nothing changes on these forums, even though I left for a few months. It's all the same arguements rolled into slightly new packaging every so often. People have been crying that defenders are obsolete as long as I've participated on the forums. It's no more true now than it's ever been, since in this game, you can put 8 of nearly anything together and run with it, especially now with SSK. Most people I know just take the first 7 people who are interested and run with the team as is. I can't see that changing with GR.
