Glad to see I'm not alone in missing that thing (but it was the only thing I did miss).
You just described some thoughts I've had about when the Rednames spawn monsters at us.
Why not work together with a lot of Rp'ers that can take the role of the villain. [Insert big gloating speach] as the monsters begin to spawn. The Villain gloats and mentiones targets, the players must get there and protect it. [Insert in-char loose speak]
Or, yes, let players take control over npc's and fight against players. If they have time to prepare or say things even better... provided its in-char. (Yes, it could be misused so... proper screening would have to be done.)
  2. Most boring.
I never should have decided for bots/ff mastermind. (I did get her up to lvl 50, but I'm not going to invest more time in her)
I guess its more the monotone bit of it. Summon bots, buff bots (with the new change it is less of a hassle) and use a lot of smaller shields on the pets.
I guess its the must buff 2 shields on team mates and keep it going for a long time.
Ok, I might also not be quite happy with the name or the character has not quite... gotten under my skin.
  3. Why am I not pvp'ing?

Why on earth should I? There is little to gain. In various other online games, your side gets rewards, not just for the zone.
There is no proper reward in droprate to show for an investment in a build (and yes it will be a heavy investment of time and influence to get a good err... proper pvp build).
I find only a handful of PvP'ers to be the good natured pvp'er who does it for fun.
I mostly have (when entering a pvp zone) the misfortune to meet the banter, the jerk and the silent stalker (who says nothing at all, not even when you give him a direct tell or say something in broadcast/chat what-ever.) The silent one is even more creepy to me.
Those I had befriended left after issue 13 or dropped the eu server and left for the NA server (we did not have global serverlist at the time).

Those are my reasons. I can enter and probably fight off enemies, but I do not as general find that fun.
The old planned base raids did sound fun, but when you think of the possibility of 2/3's of influence gained, being destroyed. And the base reward ment for the old cathedral of pain trial (that only lasted... well not even a day before being closed... or something) then well the premise was there.

Which leads us to the present question which I will answer back with the "Why should I?"

Had we had a zone where our actions would have made an outcome. Where we could se the result of our battles in what npc's built for us. (Think a zone with two camps of explorers and what you do and accomplishes gives points towards a choice of what buildings we could make.
    More pets.
The other supergame where the big Guy was the name of a certain defensive AT, had a fun scenario.
No rewards, but imagine a winter shack where there are survivors. All who enter, except one is spawned as themselves. The objective of the heroes is to protect the shack filled with people from...
the zombie apocalypse. The one player I mentioned... is spawned as a zombie. Every defeated hero becomes afterwards a... you guessed it: Zombie.

It had a fun scenario and game mechanic. You had to work together to survive.

PvP for me has to be fun, even if you loose. And yes its logical that if you have invested in the build you should gain a chance for victory, but skill should be the vital part.
I did ask a red name if we could get scenarios like the last one I mentioned, but the odds was not favorable for that.
    And heck...
I'm still waiting for more items to use in the base editor. And apart from a few easy changes to the mechanic, there has not been added anything to it since bases were launched.

    .
  4. Still hope for some of the Sybil bits from Cimerora, or similar. Else looking forward to what we get.
  5. People would flip yes if their base was made to nothing.
I belonged to a good RP group, we had a wonderful Base that we simply called "The Maze". It gave me a warm feeling when I made tours for new members and they had "Help, I'm lost" feeling.
For us in the group the base was a part, a very important part of our group identity. We were proud of the base. With issue 13 (a good issue) the architect made new changes to the base. Sadly for some of the members a part of the joy of the old base were gone.
After a while the SG were going on the slow path of oblivion, it was tried to be resurrected, but that failed.

My point though is that if the group is proud of their base, put countless hours in its making and used it for stories, rp and what not. Then it becomes part of their chars story and fun. Remove the base and not only would it destroy the joy of the architect(s), but most likely a lot of the playerbase that used it.

I've and several others have given suggestions to the base editor. After all, there are lot of items in the game that is not in the editor. Add those and we would have more tools in the game.
But basically an idea for the Devs is... Think Lego. Give the architects blocks of various sized that we can use (in addition to the desks).
And our base had numerous crashes after issue 13. I have no idea how many times we had to get a backroll to the base prior to the crash :P
  6. Main is Magic, but I tend to choose mutant origion on my characters due to the fact that I loved X-men and Marvel (too).
So most used Mutant, tech, magic, natural, science in this order.
  7. Whops Demetrios Vasilikos... Oh I quite agree.
What I did wonder about was though, we have Sis Psyche and we have Penelope Yen. Both are strong telepaths, could she not have passified Sis Psyche?

Oh well, done is done. Penelope is now with the Phalanx (Maybe to Fusionette's dismay... or hey, she might even look at what Penelope is doing and act accordingly.) and the player is there to do what the player does best. (most often upsetting the status quo)
  8. I did feel abit miffed when Sister Psyche died. Ok they did give her a proper story, but.... they did forget one thing.
In the mission it is you, Manticore, Sister Psyche ... (wait for it)... Penelope Yen!
Whom is a very strong psychic. Perhaps she did something, perhaps she could have done something?

Well the character had to be somewhere else and fight off the assassin, and thus not there when Manticore shot Sister Psyche.
    But what about Penelope Yen?
  9. It depends upon a few factors.
Country? aka Servers that has more playing in American time or European time.
Do you sometimes play the chars Role-play wise?

Virtue is an RP server with plenty of players from the states. Thus it often gets into the yellow then red bars.
Freedom has alot of players, american time and also gets quickly into the Red bar.
Union was the unofficial RP server European wise and is alot on the yellow bars.
Defiant is European server with some RP happening.
Each server do have their feel, one thing I do know is Global channels are a must sometimes.
Hope this helps, and that other players chip in with more information.
  10. Joined this club yesterday after plenty of DA playthrough.
I really did like the story in the revamped DA.
(not done the last two incarnate trials yet, but I will)
    Wohoo
  11. Congratulations on taking down the big Jello.
Congratulations to Soulstorm and his team leaders for leading the successful raid.

Is it that long since I've led the last one? Has nobody led any in my absence?
  13. Edit: Never mind. I guess I'm a little tired and got panicked attacked. Problem was never there, it was just me who failed to put that Eu tag on my account. *big.. red.. blush*
Moderator, feel free to remove this post. (Thank you to all who read though)
  14. Will having a gold title as a VIP, stop the forum from logging me off every day I turn off my pc?
Its annoying that the "remember me" function does not work the next day.
  15. Hmm.
-Joining the NHU and thus letting my char Cyrene take proper shape.
    -Plenty of badgehunts from Sals.
-The first Hami raid after issue 9. Ok it was a 7 hour marathon, but hey, we did beat it.
-When Sarge did get the first successful one in much less time (we had plenty of attempts)... and then my first successful leading of a Hami Raid.
-Mother Loves halloween death race. Running as lvl 4 and then as we came into Grandville... the undead began popping up. That was one big adrenalin moment.
-Getting all badges at one time (except those unattainable for a late entry as me) knowing that well there would be more in another issue.
    - Seeing the good sport that is in the players when during a Hami raid, I had two leaders not appearing and two volunteers joined. They were a little nervous, but they did their job and we had another successful raid against the jello.
    - Having a GM for a short amount of time as a SG member as he did get a tour after he helped us with the aftermath of a long string of troubles with the base we have had.
    - Flying around rezzing, teleporting and buffing players in the Hollows.

Well that are some of mine.
  16. Hmm.. Hello hello Sarge
Good to see your putting a Hamidon together. I'm in.
To those who do not know what to expect, do read the sticky guide on union forum. Sarge might differ a little from that plan (I do not know), but it should cover what you can expect at least.
The little guide Union is familiar with
  17. With or without two empty dagger holsters on your char?

But yea, I sort of figured you would Neko :P
  18. Lady Arete and the first Rikti war?
Well... she was sitting forgotten in a cell, contemplating her life and becoming the person she is today. When a bomb destroyed a nullifier generator in her cellblock leading to a little jailbreak, she pursuaded a few in her block to remain behind with her; To serve their time. They and she did not leave the prison cells to the guards surprise.
It was not before the war was over that they decided to give her a deal.

(And no, I do not consider the Zig to have a revolving door policy, to give the Paragon City's finest some credit )
  19. I'll go for players, although due to my Anarchy Online time I will most likely think of them as Froobs (Free to play + noob). Thinking happy thoughts, as we all where noobs at one time and I tend to think of a noob as someone willing to learn the game.
  20. And well City of Heroes Union would be reduntant as both server lists where merged some time ago.

But yes Steelclaw I'm thinking you really have to save yourself a little, by carefully making some adjustments to your tournament settings or eventually just use the chars already made and make a new tournament for ya.
So you can make another tournament for your self... the incarnate one.
  21. So... the Free players will have the same restrictions as the current trial account now or?
(Thinking of those cursed goldseller/power level services)
This would just be a gift for them as they can freely use chars to get influence etc. Would a free player be able to send e-mail, talk in local, make teams etc?
  22. I agree. We can survive this ... coming storm.
    *blinks*
    *Blinks again*
I said that... did I not? (noees)

Anyway. You know, I'm surprised, yet I know I should not be. The big stress test, the various discussions, the still huge amount hired... Something big was brewing and now we know it again.

I'm very curious on how they will handle this F2P and how much such an account will differ from a Trial account. (Should I be prepared to click the inf spammer button a lot or.. maybe not.)
Good thing it will attract plenty of players and if they do it like Anarchy Online did, then they will recruit some new players as well. (I just hope they give added info on the server list to say what kind of server each one is)

However this is another incentive to add the amount of players being able to be in a global channel. (So I do hope they have thought upon this)

Going to be a relief to be able to use various points on stuff from various booster packs (I still lack) And seeing the various new stuff will be exiting, how I wonder what new costumes there will be...

And yes Tsumiju, keeping an open mind about this, so it will not be us and them is very important. After all treat a F2P player with respect (that goes for any player anyway) and the player might just upgrade to VIP. In the other game I played when F2P was used we called them Froobs. The new players too this name to heart and there was no bad feelings. (Free to play and new player) After all we all have been noobs ;D
The Froob I had in mind did like teaming with us, upgraded and became a quite good player. (I had a doctor/healer and he was damage, so it went out very well)
  23. Well Paragon.. do remember that during the stress test of Freedom, yes we managed to get 4000 in that period... BUT there was lag... major power lag during the battles in Atlas (where I was at the time). Had I been a F2P'er at that time I would not have been impressed and maybe tried another game instead.
    Just saying.. mind.

Donning my hat and my fingers for easy click on the spam inf seller button though... hope I do not need that hat.
  24. It should've been done by now Toffy.
  25. Not sure how many of those competitions would be possible to enter for someone outside the US.
So I joined the one you did not have to make another account, nor the one who said the old age exclusion rule.
