Anyway. You know, I'm surprised, yet I know I should not be. The big stress test, the various discussions, the still huge amount hired... Something big was brewing and now we know it again.
I'm very curious on how they will handle this F2P and how much such an account will differ from a Trial account. (Should I be prepared to click the inf spammer button a lot or.. maybe not.)
Good thing it will attract plenty of players and if they do it like Anarchy Online did, then they will recruit some new players as well. (I just hope they give added info on the server list to say what kind of server each one is)
However this is another incentive to add the amount of players being able to be in a global channel. (So I do hope they have thought upon this)
Going to be a relief to be able to use various points on stuff from various booster packs (I still lack) 
And seeing the various new stuff will be exiting, how I wonder what new costumes there will be...
And yes Tsumiju, keeping an open mind about this, so it will not be us and them is very important. After all treat a F2P player with respect (that goes for any player anyway) and the player might just upgrade to VIP. In the other game I played when F2P was used we called them Froobs. The new players too this name to heart and there was no bad feelings. (Free to play and new player) After all we all have been noobs ;D
The Froob I had in mind did like teaming with us, upgraded and became a quite good player. (I had a doctor/healer and he was damage, so it went out very well)

From the looks of the information provided, there will be significant improvements to the trial accounts that we already have. Those trial accounts will be able to subscribe as we do now and attain VIP status, or unlock only the select features they want to, thus injecting money into Paragon Studios.
Our current gameplay and subscriptions will continue, with the addition of the Paragon store, which for our subscription each month we will be awarded free points to spend.
The veteran system will continue in spirit, with rewards being a choice rather than waiting 75 months for the prestige boost as an example.
All in all looking to be an addition all round rather than a replacement system of any sort!

After trawling through that colossal discussion thread for the last two days, my brain is melting trying to figure out what to make of it all. I think what's best is to wait until we see some more specific details. Things may change between now and when Freedom goes live.
I'm not that concerned with the influx of new players. Newbies will be welcomed, returnees will be welcomed back and morons shall be welcomed to my ignore list.

My biggest concern would be annoying tells
However , reading the account comparison information - Free to Play players will only have access to team and local chats so thats ok
Everything else looks ok (I might make a char on the VIP server but I still intend to spend my time on Union)
I'm pleased to read there is such a consensus here and on the forums for staying true to Union!!

It wouldn't surprised to find that due to the initiatives name, most new players will head directly to Freedom. I don't think we'll see much of a bustle here on Union. Even Virtue will get off lighter than Freedom.

As many of you have seen on the main site, a new hybrid version of City Of Heroes will be released to coincide with Issue 21:Convergence.
As you can imagine the initial wording on Facebook caused the announcement to be immediately withdrawn and replaced with one referencing links to I21 and the new feature writeups.
My first and foremost words of advice to my fellow Unionites is DO NOT panic, this hybrid system still seems to allow subscription, but gives Paragon Studios more access to booster style microtransactions from what I like to think of as *updated* trial accounts.
There is also mention of a VIP server for these subscribers. Again I ask that all that have stood beside me over these last few years hold back their decisions until such time that we can make informed choices and avoid segregating our community between the "haves" and "have nots".
Union has always been my home and I hope that any changes being made to the place that, for almost a fifth of my life has been my second home, will not affect that and the friends that we have all made of each other during that time.
