Yeah that's the weird thing about Windows 7. You have to make sure an Aero theme is ON when playing CoH or you can't alt-tab.
Frame rates don't seem to change much between Aero on and off though, so it's not too bad.
I get that flickering whenever I open a window that includes a shot of a game character, like a contact window or my costume window. And the "shot" used is pretty blocky, whereas on my previous, Nvidia-powered system it was fairly smooth.
But I haven't had a crash since using 10.1. I heard 10.2 is out now, any problems? -
What I'm getting from that link to Avatea's post is this:
Prepurchase for the normal $30 Going Rogue expansion will happen early March. It does not come with game time, but will allow you to use Dual Pistols in March and Demon Summoning in April, before the expansion goes live.
When the expansion goes live in July(morelikeAugustamirite?) those who prepurchased will have the option of "upgrading" to the Complete Edition which will give them the goodie pack(but not include any game time.) Upgrade price to be determined.
Or, if you don't care about getting Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning early, you can just wait and buy the Complete Collection at launch, when it will be available either online or at retail stores, and will include a free month.
I understand the plan. But to be honest, it's a bit convoluted. I'd rather pay my 40 bucks now and not have to worry about upgrading later, even if it didn't come with a free month. -
If you get the chance, let him know that those of us with just single-screen widescreen(16:9/16:10) might like some kind of fix or option, too.
The -vert at those aspects isn't nearly as bad as what's being discussed here, but it's still there. -
I am so totally all about an MA secondary for Blasters. I don't know what form it would take, the one in the OP looks fine enough. But even if it's different, I would [Executioner's Shot] someone for an MA secondary.
I guess all this post boils down to is /signed. -
10.1 works fine for my 5850 on Win7 64bit. No odd artifacting and screen offsetting when I alt-tab, no strobing effect, etc. However, the other ATI problems remain, such as the inability to use AA and weird water reflections above "low" quality. Can't wait for Ultra Mode. Not just for the shiny graphics, but for the supposed fixes as well.
I should note that I didn't use Driver Cleaner when I uninstalled 9.12. I just uninstalled via the normal add/remove program in Windows control panel, then rebooted, then installed the 10.1 package. -
Quote:I'm sure the original poster would love to turn on AA, but with ATI cards that can be difficult to do. I still haven't figured out how to get AA to turn on with mine, despite any advice I've found on the forums.Try turning on some antialiasing and anisotropic filtering. Those steps in Ouro are painful.
Luckily, it seems the real Ultra Mode may fix that.
And yes, those shots are real and not doctored. I have some nice shots of Croatoa taken from the shoreline of the lake... Any higher than that and the reflections become wonky. -
Didn't have issues with the 9.12 w/hotfix, except for the slightly offset screen when alt-tabbing. 10.1 seems to have fixed even that now, and I don't have any similar graphical issues anymore.
5850 on Win7 64, in case it matters. -
Blizzard can probably get away with charging every current subscriber an extra $6.50 or so for it, or by taking a slight loss for a month to give them away. One would assume they'd start putting them in the box from then on, or possibly having a new "starter" box with a fob in it to be placed on the shelf along side the expansions.
CoH as a single game probably couldn't get away with requiring every subscriber to have one. NCSoft as a whole might be able to, if they only required a single fob for all of their games.
As for the option to use one, I'd consider it if the fob was CoH-chic, since I'm a sucker for merchandising. If it was just a generic black or grey fob with nothing on it, I'd decline if I had the choice. -
Quote:If Pocket D really was like this, I would never go anywhere else.which lots of people think Pocket D is just full of furry catgirls who want to "cyber" with you.
But I don't go because I don't have any characters that would go, mostly because in real life I'm not the kind of person that likes to go to bars or parties usually. I don't truly believe that Pocket D is a horrible place akin to the Mos Eisley cantina(though on second thought, that'd be totally rad) but for me it has turned into a running joke. I admit that I sometimes make comments about Pocket D being a hive of scum and villainy, but the truth is that if I had any characters who liked bars or parties, I wouldn't hesitate to take them there.
For me it's just a joke, not the truth. -
The "he's immortal so there's no suspense" could also be said of the Doctor. It's his show, of course he's not gonna die. Well, not most of the time, anyway. And when he does, we know about it months beforehand because of all the "who'll be the new Doctor" hoopla that inevitably surrounds the whole thing.
So we know he's not gonna die. But we still watch and like him because of the stuff he does, his personality, and to see if he succeeds at whatever plan to save the day he's concocted, which is where the real tension comes in. Sometimes he succeeds, and sometimes he doesn't.
So with Jack, of course he's not going to die. Even if he wasn't completely immortal, we still would know he's not going to die. Torchwood is his show. But what's interesting is how he acts, how he deals with the problems with which he's presented. -
The cubicle is great for placing wall items away from the wall. You can also use the big "Modern Art" painting, Wall Lights(big or small), Shoji Wall Lamps, and some cabinets from that category.
A nice thing about the Wall Lights is that with some careful maneuvering, you can place wall items at an angle.
Edited to add: You can also reverse-stack items down from the ceiling, such as lights and ceiling domes. There are a few items that you can do this with, mostly the lights themselves. I think the item is called "Hanging Lamp" that seems to be the most useful, either the large or small version. Looks like a yellow box hanging from a black pole. -

Quote:This "new season" was actually several TV movies instead of normal episodes. The Next Doctor(Christmas special), Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, and End of Time parts 1 and 2.when and where was this on!!???!! I havent seen ANY of the new season yet..I'm not even going to look at that clip!
All of them have since aired on BBC and BBC America in the US. The Next Doctor and Planet of the Dead are available now in the US on DVD, with Waters of Mars and End of Time coming out on Feb 2nd, along with a full set of all 4(which could be considered a "season" set I guess.)
Or you could find alternate means, of course... -
He had a lot of radiation built up in his body, it was probably the release of that or something.
-
I'm pretty sure everyone would have access to Ultra Mode even if they didn't buy GR. So it doesn't necessarily have to be tied in with GR's release.
-
I bought it, with some changes. Went with the Corsair power supply as Santa Claus suggested, as well as that case. I originally picked the odd looking one because of cost more than anything, it was the cheapest. But the CM wasn't much more, and I like the look better anyway. Here's to hoping this'll last me for a few years!(My current one sure did!)

For the past ten years or so I've built my own computers, including the one I'm on now. But this time I thought I might save myself the trouble and buy pre-built. So I went to iBuyPower.com and specced one out. I have some questions lower down in the post, but here's the specs:

I splurged a bit with the sound reduction, the "professional" wiring job, and the card reader.
But I had a few questions:
1. So like, is this one good? While I mainly play CoH, I'm also interested in certain other upcoming MMOs as well as those fancy high-tech FPS that the cool kids enjoy. Would a setup like this allow me to play CoH Ultra Mode, modern FPS such as Crysis and its ilk, and Trek Online or other graphics-intensive MMOs at 1920x1080 with all the bells and whistles turned up?
2. I have 2 hard drives in my current computer that I'll want to transfer over to the new one when it arrives. One of them is a nice WD "Velociraptor" 300gb drive I currently have my OS and applications on. How feasible would it be to, when I receive the new computer, copy the new Windows 7 stuff over to my 300gb drive and use the new drive as storage? Basically, I'm confident enough in the hardware aspects of installing a new drive, just not entirely sure about the software aspects of copying everything over.
3. The liquid cooling. It's a free upgrade. I've never had liquid cooling before. Is there anything in particular I need to know, or is this pretty much a forget-it's-even-there deal? It's only for the CPU as far as I can tell, which is fine. I got it because, well it's free. And I also thought it might reduce noise and let the CPU run a little cooler, which brings me to...
4. The CPU. If I spent another $160 I could get a 940 with 2.93ghz instead of 2.66. However, I'm thinking it might be possible to just overclock the 920 to 2.93 with the help of the liquid cooling mechanism. Am I completely crazy? And if I am, would the difference between 2.66 and 2.93ghz be worth $160?
Thank you very much in advance! -
You uh... Might want to fix your title. For a moment there I thought a real Christmas miracle was about to happen.
-
At first I thought this was about that comedy show on TV, which is pretty awesome.
Then I read it and realized it's even more awesome. Kudos. -
Quote:Kind of makes me wonder if there's going to be ambient occlusion, reflections, and shadows on building faces we don't even see.Unless they're also overhauling the old zones to fix the existing performance issues, there's going to be some rather serious problems.
Seems to me like that might be a bad thing. -
Yeah, you can't actually use the Accuracy stat to determine if something is auto-hit or not. Tanker Taunt is autohit, and yet it has an Accuracy stat of 1.00.
According to both Mids and Paragonwiki(I don't have a char high enough level to get this info in-game), Power Sink does not accept Accuracy enhancements, which is a pretty clear sign of it being auto-hit. -
Golden Roller. Finally, a vehicle!
