Quote:Yup...it has a lot to do with buying low. And also keep in mind that a lot of people (for different reasons) don't "pre-buy" recipes for their final build. So when a shortage comes (perceived or real) folks will put up ridiculous bids to get stuff nao. The obscene amount of INF in the economy facilitates this.If you think about it, people who own masterminds can buy the S.A's and any other cheap IOs for their MM before the market merge. Since you can trade items between factions.
So I can't see there be a raise in the price for S.A's if people do it smart and buy ahead of time. And after awhile, the prices will go down. You do have 4factions on 1 market and hero side makes more money and other stuff than the villians.
My prediction of the market merge, prices of items will decrease by 1/4 or stay the same. -
Can you point me to original post please?
I can't remember exactly what you guys do/have done.
Sorry in advance, if it's sitting right there on the first page. My browser is whacky. The less interfacing I do with it, the better. -

Come September (as the first wave of new 50s ride in), items will be turning over quite quickly and at NAO prices (NAO + X% if we have a 2XP before GR).
I think that as long as you are (or have been) able to buy low, it's going to be pretty hard NOT to make ridiculous piles of INF this fall. -
Quote:Yup, makes sense. Although admittedly, I didn't realize that 7.5's had a defense component until sometime last fall.Yes on 50's. Reasoning being that the IO does have a +def component too so the 50 ones actually are more valuable to a level 50.
Quote:Less merits created and more doing of regular content = lower prices for high level pool As and higher prices for high level pool Cs.
Quote:I have a huge bankroll......I could buy ALL the LotGs being sold redside if I wanted to....I just don't like being so undiversified in case I'm wrong. So I'm curious who decided to dump here since I think its not an economically rational choice, especially now that cross-side email is going in. If that hadn't been announced I'd assume it was people dumping all their redside stuff cause they're Going Hero for the less painful market and I'd be bummed that redside was going to crash so hard. -

Are you talking 50s?
I've noticed a broad spread on non-50s for the past 50-70 days.
The moderately patient could have grabbed 5 of 'em for 375-500M total. -
Quote:So I guess you didn't hear the one about a few certain ebils turning costume tokens into PvP uniques?I'm wondering if, once all this sinks in, a new generation of 'casual gamers' will be less hostile and conspiracy minded about the market. Any thoughts?
Seriously, I'd like to think that if nothing else, the "casual gamer" should find it much simplier to pool her/his INF, recipes and crafted IOs in order to trick-out that one special toon that s/he calls "my main". -
I've decided to take August 17 off from work so as to help set "fair-and-reasonable" pricing levels upon the merger.

Quote:Word.Overall, I'm in the wild chaos camp. Merged markets, reset histories, all bids/items backed out, plus an expansion which is oriented towards creating new characters, plus some new rewards for high level characters, plus maybe a double xp weekend and a reactivation weekend not too far away I bet. It's going to be a wild ride.

Woot! My original guess is looking good
-
I did...when Demons were announced I nabbed CTA uniques for 6.25M IIRC. I've sold them all (save for 3) over the past 2-3 weeks. Sadly, I was not on the other side of the recent 500M sale
.
The stacks of blue side CTA uniques that I have were each bought at < 1M. Bought those when Electrical Control was announced...never gave a market merger a serious thought at-the-time. Circumstance and dumb-luck. -
Quote:Add to that, the possibility of a 2XP weekend prior to GR (unless 2XP has been announced as scrapped for this summer and I've missed it)...and we'll have even more INF being thrown aroundSomething I haven't seen mentioned is the effect of returning players on market supply/inf.
I doubt if it is typical or not but my brother-in-law and his best friend are coming back when GR breaks and they have tons of stuff from back in the day, purples, pvp IOs, billions of inf and so on.
If this was typical, then it might mean even more inf that is currently tied up in unactive accounts suddenly moving.
For that matterhow much inf do you suppose is tied up in inactive accounts?
Also what happens to the stuff sitting in Wents/BM for inactive players? -
-
I'd happily convert some INF to cover my trio of monthly sub fees
-
A few dozen toons on three accounts across three servers.
I'm going to be market PvP'ing myself on a daily basis. -
-
Great news! Thanks Devs for bringing balance to The Force!
I knew you'd do it...just didn't know when. -
Nice work! I'll guess 838M for now.
-
Don't forget the base/craft buffs (particularly recharge)...and the serum temp can help "balance" your End usages from the recharge buff.

Quote:Absolutely. Merit and tickets fill-in-the-blanks (bids) very nicely...and of course add to personal wealth.Yup yup...I have multiple characters with billions....not quadrillions like some of these yahoos....I start a project and merely log on one alt at a time with my shopping list....place a couple of bids each and then go play the new idea. I log on the next week with my alts, craft and mail to my global (formerly limited to SG base enhancement dumps) and get back to playing. Its the easiest way I can think of to IO out a character. The new character will buy or merit-buy any IOs I missed along the way.

The amount of INF in the CoX economy these days is incredible. Still, I'm still a cheap bidder/builder b/c that's how I am in RL. I don't go shopping unless there's a sale on.
I start putting out low-ball bids as soon as I start a project; it takes a lot of the GIMME NAO pressure away.
