How 'not related' are we talking? There's various subforms for things tangentally related (such as comics, or hardware, etc), but not just anything is allowed. Often, though, they'll let a lot of stuff slide as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

RadioFreedom has long since been abandoned, it's spawned into RF2009, and a few of the more actives also in Freedom Elite (don't remember if there's an 's' there). If you're in either, you should see TF/SFs being formed pretty much constantly.
Global Channels are BY FAR THE BEST way to find a team. If you're on a channel that's dead (I've, personally, never cared for Freedom Badges), of course it's useless! Join a real channel! -
You can form them for any purpose- that does not mean you can violate the normal in-game rules. Remember: a league is not a team!

Quote:No, they WILL get the bonus. The only restriction is for the special proc enhancements (the ones that have some chance (or 100% chance) of applying a special affect, like -recharge or 'medium lethal damage').Okie dokie - so if I were to slot a dam/acc io from a knockback set into battle drones, then they use their unupgraded attack, they won't actually get a bonus to acc or dam? That's *very* good to know. =D
The KB set will enhance the normal aspects. -
Teleport is, heads and shoulders above all else, the fastest travel power. Unless you're just going a few feet, Teleport will win on speed by a large margin, and there's ~2 seconds of hover time after each teleport. It's not hard to teleport very large distances, sans fly/hover, without falling. Plus, you can teleport up into the air and totally avoid mobs, or use teleport in a mission (where space is confined) to teleport past a mob (something SS can also pretty much do- thanks to the included stealth component).

Quote:IIRC, you can just right click it in the powers tray and delete it, allowing you to rebuy it. Most of my 50s have less than 10-15 minutes of use time on the jetpack... having gotten them at level 5BTW - does anyone know if you already have a jetpack from the Shard vendor and it's almost out of fuel, can you just buy a new one and replace the old one or do you have to wait for the old one to be completely exhausted before you buy the new one?

Quote:You're quite late to this thread. Also, I don't see how "You already have the game on your computer.", since the client itself is freely distributed (the link to the old updater has been directly linked on these boards countless times... it's on a public FTP server... plus there's the whole NCLauncher). You can have an account and the game without a box. The box should have nothing to do with a pay account. You got either a generic response via email, or an idiot. Call them. Tell them:
He got the standard generic response that's sent immediately after making a request of these sorts that asks for that information. Just fill in the blanks then instead of having to wait for a person to ask for the information. And, as already said on the first page, you don't have to fill in everything.
(now all of you can go back to bragging about how much of a bunch of hoarders you are)
-
If you bought the booster pack, you already have any boxes there are for the booster packs... sitting right on your desk. (there are no boxes, and you ALSO never see the full code for the boosters, only the last ~4 digits).

Try downloading Malwarebytes or another antispyware utility (such as Spyboy Search & Destroy or Adaware), run a scan, and remove any nasties they find (most antivirus software won't detect that sort of malware).
Also, any reason you're still running IE7? IE 8 was released quite a while ago, and IE9 was released several days ago- each one has drastically improved security (something IE is not known for), and increased compatibility with web standards (something web designers around the world rejoice). Personally, I wouldn't touch Internet Explorer with a 10 foot pole, I just hate it... but if you like it, you can keep using it. Popular alternatives to IE include: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera. I personally use Opera and Google Chrome (Chrome has by far the best auto-updater of any software out there). -
Touch more so at the heart of your question: You can get everywhere you need to entirely on foot- you'll never have to have fly/hover/super jump/teleport. I've, personally, stopped getting travel powers on my characters... although all of them have Ninja Run for free (part of one of the booster packs, you can use it lvl 4+ if you've bought the pack).
I'd suggest avoiding using any guide that you find on a third party website, it's very likely to be WOEFULLY out of date. I would only trust what you see on these boards (but watch the date for the post of any guides here still, CoH has changed a lot over the years), ParagonWiki (not the wikia version!), and the rest of the TitanNetwork.
Mids' Hero Design is great for roughly planning out your characters power selections & slotting (altough since you're new, I'd recommend against following any preset build too closely... feel free to explore and make mistakes... this is a forgiving game). -
When starting it, did you get the UAC elevation prompt? If not, when starting it, right click and select 'Run as Administrator'.

Quote:Akamai is a content distribution network, totally unrelated to that website.prob'ly an akamai repeater thingymabob
I think that from time to time they carry malware sites as well as legitimate ones
profilebrand.com seems to include a bunch of avatar pictures (it advertises itself as hosting myspace layouts and such... myspace... hahaha), so likely what you're seeing is someone with an avatar (or sig) from that site.

Most of the things listed by Seldom are covered in great lengths by ParagonWiki. If you're not already familiar with it... bookmark it now.

If this is really a DNS issue, and you don't like OpenDNS (I don't), Google's Public DNS is a good alternative: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html (8.8.8.8 for the primary, 8.8.4.4 for the secondary).
So... anyone ever gonna try the whole tracert thing? -
It depends. Basically, if it's a non-defense based character, and one of the PPPs give me access to Shadow Meld... I'm totally going with that one (meaning it's useless for my /SR, and would be for my /Nin if I ever get around to slotting her
).
Some of the Patron powers are now fairly decent, although it's still annoying that you have to unlock them, but not too annoying. I've not leveled any characters up since then (yet), but I wouldn't be surprised if I took the APPs at 41, then eventually get around to respecing into the PPPs on some for new characters. -
Quote:I, personally, loath those 'security' questions, as they're generally something that's INCREDIBLY easy to figure out (it's a wet dream for a social engineer). Security questions generally only LOWER your security, not improve it in any way. The new way NC is using them at least doesn't hurt your security anymore (then again, are they still using them in the old manner as well?).I have no idea what to say to that. At least it's quoted for posterity.
It always amused me the security questions the bank would ask... amuse me, because you didn't provide them the info! -
Can you hear any sounds from your computer? Most likely issue is you just accidentally plugged the speakers into the wrong port on the back.

It's fine. Dynamic IPs are pretty damn common (unfortunately... one day we'll have IPv6 and none of that jackassery). Probably 50-99.9% of the people on this forum are behind a dynamic IP address (especially anyone on dial up). I'm probably one of the few that aren't atm... but that's because I'm behind a giant sucky NAT, with an ISP that likes to redirect half my pages to their site (read: they're giant jackasses).

Quote:I already dealt with this about a day after they put this in place, to reactivate my account after ~6 months. You do not need all the information. I filled out everything else, and just for that put that I didn't have the boxes with me, and it was no issue. In fact, IIRC, I listed two different answers for one of them as well, not sure which it was.I'm trying to pay for my son's account and can't get in because of the new security stuff. The answer is to send them all this info like the serial number on the box and the original activation code. Well almost 7 years later, guess what? I don't have it. Why am I wasting my time with this additional security foolishness? Who exactly is it for and do they realize they are going to be loosing customers because of it?
WN
They had it sorted out for me in less than 24 hours, it certainly wasn't the end of the world. Calm down, take a breath, it's not the end of the world. You most certainly spent more effort on starting this thread than sending what info you did know to support would have required!
(bolded, italicized, underlined, and increased the font, since I wouldn't be surprised if no one actually reads the most important part) -
I would assume that it's just due to the history of the powers, that the original ones included an actual stealth component (since they were given as part of a mission and you were 'under cover'), and somewhere down the line that was removed, but the flags associated with it weren't in an oversight.
I don't have any of the permanent powers, but I do think it'd be a good idea to fix that... I can't really imagine it's intentional... unless there's somehow some special difference between personal stealth and granted stealth... and now that I think about it, I thought I was able to use Cloaking Device with the Knives costume power during a Halloween event a good while back... but I could be totally wrong. -
Based on what I know, it's the generic Hamidon destruction... but it's one of the cities that Praetoria is trying to help rebuild and recover. It's a bit confusing whether they're independent of Praetoria or not... I think, at least publicly, they appear as if they aren't ruled by Cole.
-
Then what happens if you're standing next to someone running Shadow Fall, or you get hit with Group Invisibility or Grant Invisibility? I honestly can't say I recall...
-
In that case, it's probably due to being carried over from the Halloween costumes, which I'm fairly certain included a stealth component... which was carried over from the original ones, which definitely included a stealth component (i.e. the Arachnos Widow disguise).
-
IIRC, the costumes includes a stealth component already... and Shadow Fall conflicts with most all other stealth powers in the game, thus that end result.
-
At least used to, you could summon the Ouroboros portal prior to level 25, you just couldn't enter it yourself.
