No prob, I agree about debuffing worries (although I never had a hard time with them on my Em/Nin even on ITFs, she's like 45-46% m/r and aoe is lame because I don't care), I just think you're putting too much emphasis on AoE def while losing important things like recharge on your heal and L. Rod (and both sets I'd use in these, Doct. Wounds and Obliteration, also give 5% global rech).

Oh and in case you don't know... Should you want to make a tough-less build and go with maneuvers like I prefer (or even get better defenses earlier while leveling and then moving it to tough later), Kuji In Sha takes the Steadfast unique

Rezzes a dead ally, gives you zomgawesome buffs for 60 seconds. To the order of a 30% damage buff, 175% (2.92end/sec) recovery, 75% recharge and 20% tohit. For 60 seconds. Yes, awesome. Yes, you do get a 30% damage debuff and 20% tohit debuff for 30 seconds afterward, but that’s negligible in my experience. You’ll always be happy getting to use this. I mean, tempting as it is, but try to not let people die on purpose just so you have an excuse. Unless they’re giving you sass somethin’ fierce.

While hilarious, try to not hit ASing stalkers or people sniping with Enforced Morale. It will interrupt them unless they’re already damaged.
Now why did you have to write these? Just makes me want to do these as soon as I get the powers on my new fire/pain lol.
  3. Save your lil sis from getting addicted to a MMO!

Little experience in low pop servers here, but Justice seemed very nice when played there. Started today on Champion, found some very nice people from the start, but only 2 hours of playtime is too early to tell especially for what you're looking for.

I agree with you on Freedom, my most played server. My negative experiences there are almost zero, but since there are so many people, you find a little of every kind of person, that might not be good for her.

Oh I don't agree. While I love Virtue, redside some players take their rping kinda seriously and sometimes say inappropriate things for a pre-teen (not that they're being rude or anything, I find people there very polite, only had one negative experience there and it was blueside and nothing related to being inappropriate for a kid). Anyway, Pocket D would already be a criteria for not going there imho.

At a quick glance, trade the miracles in Kuji In Sha for 5 doctored wounds to maximize Sha's recharge and get a global 5% rech bonus since your global is low, you already have too much AoE def (50% without hide - remember that Hide adds 2.15% even suppressed the way you slotted it, so you can go for 44% to each position and be at 46.15% because of Hide).

I don't understand the Stealth IO, it's useless in PvE and in PvP everybody with a half decent build (meaning perception) will see you anyway if you don't have the Stealth pool power. And Spirit Shark is the worst patron blast, lethal damage and 3 seconds to cast, again only good for pvp, where you'd better take your godmode and make it recharge as fast as you can, not worry about softcapping, having a LOT of KB protection (1 -KB IO is fine for PvE, for PvP you'd need like 7-9 plus acrobatics).

Oh and speaking of that, you don't have any Kb protection, which is essential even in PvE for ninjitsu.

I'd try to max recharge on L. Rod too, you only have 26%, I'd go for 85-99%. Put obliterations there, you can keep 43% AoE because with hide you'll be softcapped. In your current build you'll have 52.6% AoE def with hide suppressed.
  5. Meh nothing on Intel shader and general gfx fix.

That's why I haven't been playing the game in the little time I have.
  6. You could, ya know, look at the topic titles and see that there's a thread in the very first page called 'Electric/Shield and Fire/Shield for any budget' with 57 posts so far. Lot of builds there.
  7. Looks ok to me, I'd get CJ (and SJ since you want a travel power) before Stamina but your build looks fine to me.

Only thing is that you won't be able to 5 or 6-slot Fireball taking it at 49.
  8. Stalkers - the others lack ST damage. I shelved my 50 ELM Brute because of that.

But from what you asked, of course brute and scrapper will deal more damage than Tankers. ELM works a bit better for scrappers because Lightning Rod has a lower damage cap than Brutes' damage cap, but it's no incredibly big difference imo.

Lol @ broadsword best for stalkers. And why ninjitsu? The only secondaries that helps dealing damage are /SR and /ELA because of the recharge bonus passive, I give /SR the edge for being defensive and facilitating you to placate and AS or go hidden even when surrounded by mobs, increasing damage further.

Lol @ Demons being 'very overpowered', they're nothing too special.

    The BEST Brute

Cool. I find passive secondaries boring, that's why I like Fire, Elec, Dark... But SS/WP is one of the most powerful toons in PvE, I've seen SO'ed SS/WPs easily outsurvive expensive builds, usually EM/Elecs (which was kinda FOTM a while ago, before wp was released and em nerfed).
  11. Kioshi

    The BEST Brute

You should play the game, maybe read a bit on the powers, and decide.

My SS/Fire Brute and Stone Melee/Elec are much squishier than my SS/WP and my ELM/Stone Armor but I enjoy the first two a lot while I shelved the latter (deleted the ss/wp and the granite is there because he's 50).

Nobody will be 'relegated' because people who aren't idiots don't cherrypick ATs for a team, even in TFs. It may happen in MoSTF attempts, but not in the majority of the game.
  12. Scrappers: Ice Armor, Stone Melee, Energy Melee if they do some more tweaking to the powerset, the nerfs were too much imo, I only like it on Stalkers in its current state.

Controllers: Dark Miasma (I honestly don't think it would be more powerful than Radiation Emission), Poison, Traps.

    Stalkers: Fire Melee!

Doms: I think I'm okay with them, but super strength would be hilarious (of course, not a straight port, but like they did with earth assault, which has various Stone Melee powers). Ok thinking a bir more, Dark Assault since I love Dark Melee, it'd be very nice to have a secondary mixing powers like Siphon Life, Smite, M. Grasp, Gloom and T. Tentacles. Before you say it's too much control and mitigation because of say, Tentacles and Siphon, remember Psi Assault gets Drain Psyche, Subdue, Tk Thrust, PSW, Earth Assault gets Fissure and another hold with S. Smash, etc.

Corruptors: I had to think and check Mid's for them. Wow they have a LOT of primaries/secondaries, nothing I really want added, I still have to level a stormie, a /pain and a /dark. FF is boring to me.

MMs, Blasters, Tanks, Defs: don't care about them but I think Blasters need more secondaries.

    LIEZ

I love DM, especially paired with DA. But I like my DM/EA Stalker a lot too.

Willpower is boring, stop talking about DM and go solo another MoITF with your boring WP
  14. Yup, Siphon is a great attack now. When I respec my DM/DA I'll take shadow punch out and slot siphon for damage and accuracy, since I have dark regen, as you, we don't need to slot healing in siphon.

Ways to plug the knockback hole with IOs:

    - Steadfast protection: knockback resistance IO in any power that accept resistance enhancements (like dark embrace, murky cloud, obsidian shield...)

    - Karma: KB resistance IO in any defense power (Combat Jumping, Hover, Cloak of Darkness...)

    - Blessing of The Zephyr: KB resistance IO in any travel power or Combat Jumping or Hover.

The Karma IO is usually the cheapest, but Steadfast isn't very expensive either. The BoTZ one is VERY expensive.

You can use any level, a lvl 50 anti- KB IO or a level 20 one will do the same thing. Just be sure to place it in an early power if you plan to exemp (like ,if you have weave at level 49 ,don't put the anti kb IO there, put it in combat jumping which you took at like level 10 - I'm making up the levels and the powers you took lol, but just an example).

Each IO gives 4 points of KB protection, which I find enough, I rarely get KB'ed with one. Des l ikes three for 12 points. YMMV.
  15. Body Mastery is awesome for Dark Armor because /DA eats endurance like no one's business. But PP is weaker than Stamina, so you better have both if you're going that route.

My DM/DA has a pre-Siphon Life buff build so I want to respec her, but using darkness mastery and adding defense. I have planned like 10 builds and I'm still not happy with the recovery in any of them, using PP instead of darkness mastery would solve my issue but I want to keep my tentacles and dark blast. And should you get PP, slot it with end mod IOs (one of them being the Performance Shifter +end proc, if you have one slot for PP just use the proc).

But so far, I managed to make better builds with emphasis on positional defenses (melee/ranged/aoe) than typed (smashing/lethal/energy/negative/fire/cold). Des prefers typed, there are many ways you can build a DM/DA.

One thing you shoud know about IOs is that you have to set a clear goal for the bonuses first. I have seen builds that cost 5 billion with bonuses all over the place which wouldn't perform much better than a regular SO build.

For example, on my mind/emp troller i went for maximum global recharge bonuses only - on my fire/kin troller, smashing/lethal defenses and then as much recharge as I could. On my DM/DA (which I'm still tweaking, maybe I'll manage to make a decent build until next year lol), I'm going for recovery, defense, +maximum HP and then recharge.

Get Mid's hero designer at cohplanner.com if you don't have it yet, best tool ever.

If the devs were actually going to make a change then why settle for a few more enhancements.

If you're going to bother with this suggestion then we should ask that enhancements are not "permanent."

If one so desires, they can slot an enhancement and 60 seconds later remove the enhancement because they've changed their mind or made a mistake.

You think by asking for just a little bit more this specific request is valid and justified.

    Wrong.
Wow what a deathblow, you really crushed Donna! I'm impressed by your awesomeness.

Do you feel strong and pretty like a Mace/EA Brute now?

Yup, I understand and I agree the game is fully playable with SOs. It's just that the difference between 'Hey I'm gonna spend a lot to remake my Brute to add defense/whatever so he can be better' and 'Damn I'm gonna spend a lot and waste 5 respecs for my toon to keep the level of performance she had before because the devs changed the powers' may mean that you'll odo the first thing enthusiastically and (in my case at least) shelve the toons for months thinking 'well someday I"ll get to it...'. Kinda sucks in the end this is just a game.

I complained because besides my mind/emp and my fire/kin, all of my other heavily IO'ed toons were affected (ice/psi, dm/da, em/nin in case I want to pvp again), so I got hit kinda hard. But then again the harcore PvPers were the worst I guess since a lot of powersets were rendered suboptimal or close to useless, but i13 pvp changes are kinda off topic heh .

I love you just for posting that pic.
  19. This thread makes me wanna level my 24 Db/Elec at least to 30 and take her to Siren's. I think I'll do that next time I play. She's on Virtue, maybe she can pwn some dual pistols/dark corr?
  20. I know it's not gonna happen and all, but I have to add that in some cases you don't respec your toon just to make him better or suit your playstyle more, or because you feel like it.

I have a fully IO'ed ice/psi permadom. I was completely satisfied with the build, hey, maybe I'd change one thing or two like adding another purple set in case I made more money.

But... the devs COMPLETELY changed psi assault. And now I have to drastically change my build, like add other attacks. Not because I want to, because I need to.

It's a different case than 'I'll change my fire armor tanker from focusing on recharge to get a lot of defense' - that would also be a drastic change, but because the player wants to make his toon excel in another aspect.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying 'wah wah they nerfed PSW which I used to spam', I think the psi changes were positive for most players, especially for leveling (which was a pain with this dom till 38), but that in some cases the 10-enhancement limit is painful and not our fault that we have to use a lot of respecs to replace them, like when they drastically change a powerset for better or worse.

My DM/DA is another case, surely not as 'severe' as the ice/psi, but I'll have to respec out of shadow punch which was nerfed and killed the buzzsaw attack chain, slot siphon life for damage and heal now, etc.

And if I ever want to PvP with my IO'ed EM/Nin Stalker again, I'll have to IO a second build, she worked very well on PvE and PvP with the same build but now I'll have to gut her defenses (making her lame for PvE if I did that to the primary build), add 41 points of KB protection, change her patron to one that's kinda lame in PvE if I were to change her primary build...

I'm not whining nor expecting that exceptions will be made because it would be complicated to sort out who would 'deserve' a full IO respec, but just giving examples to show that this dev talk of 'Enhancements should be permanent' loses credibility when they change powersets forcing players to respec. I'm not against buffing or nerfing or any kind of change, I just think they contradict themselves.

I spent 1 billion and 2 respecs to revamp my Mind/Emp, that's okay, I wanted to change some things, try some powers I hadn't before, remove others I didn't use much. That was something I did with enthusiasm, I was improving and changing a toon to renew my interest on her.

But my head hurts just thinking about all the sales, respecs and possibly wasted IOs just to make my ice/psi have acceptable levels of performance for such an investment, since I spent 2 months after she hit 50 to get her to how she is now (and btw, I used to PvP with her on RV till i12, and now Ice Control is garbage there and psi is nothing special since sh relied on holds and slows which meh in post-i13 PvP, so not even 50 free respecs would make her viable the way she was in this scenario).
  21. In this order:

    Fire
    Fire
    Fire
    Fire
    Fire
    Others

Ok Frosticus is probably right about the negative thing, but Fire does SO MUCH damage (like the base numbers on the powers) it kills anything really fast.

I think my 24% defense lvl 31 fm/sd scrapper can solo at +2/x3 just because she kills things absurdly fast. My claws/sr can do that too (solo at this setting), but she has 33% def at level 30 so with 1 small purp she's softcapped to melee/ranged, meaning she's MUCH less squishy.

And lethal doesn't make so much difference. The only time I recall my damage type was really sucky, like, ridiculous, was when I was on a rad/psy defender (who soloes very well) and I had to kill an animated stone. I basically did crap damage to the thing even with the rad toggles and I was getting upset using only tk blast which did a little more damage than my pure psionic attacks. Then I used EM Pulse and for some reason it killed the creature lol, it's only supposed to damage robots afaik.

My DB/Elec and claws/sr do just fine in the damage department (I don't think I have any other lethal toons - oh I have a spines/dark I don't play much so I can't comment because I play her little due to my rage on spines' ST damage), even when it's resisted. But oh the damage my fire melee/fire blast toons put out.... it's beautiful lol.

Tex, question: was the patch supposed to enable shader options? Various intel users (945, 965 and x1300, I think that's how it's called, the last one) are still with their shader options greyed out, at least two of the 965 users, I know that they are with up-to-date driver, as I am with my 945.

No crashing here (actually crashing has been non existent since i17 unlike i9-16 when I crashed a bit), but are there plans to enable shader options for us Intel users, like another patch? I have asked around but I still don't know if the patch enabled shader quality options for anyone w/ Intel.

I think (emphasis on *think* because I don't have a decent i16 scenario screen) the world scenario has improved for me after the patch, but the toons (player/enemies/general npcs) are still plain looking like I showed you before.
