How about a level 50 duels? One on One - mano a mnao...to the death.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because they are pointless. By having duels, you're excluding everyone's who's PvP toons are built for support.

One on one tournaments have always been pretty pointless as the PvP in CoX is blatantly geared for team PvP.
2. I'd say smoke grenade can be useful in PvP but there's probably better things to take as most players have a form of +PER.

In PvE, not too sure as i'm pretty sure as I think they can see through it the second you attack them anyway(kind of liek with stealth where as soon as the mob is attacked, it loses it's effect).

Blinding Powder is good but ninjitsu stalkers are pretty tight builds to fit it in on.
3. 2 Acc in it is a must.

The recharge on it is veerrrryyy long so when it is up, a miss will be really annoying. Also, given that recharge on it is so long, i've slotted it for 3 recharge, even with a 3 slotted hasten.

The end result is that on my corruptor at the moment, it's slotted 2 acc, 3 recharge and 1 end mod.

The actual end boost you yourself get from it is pretty poor with that slotting and I never rely on it as a solution to end problems, I just view it as a nice bonus. If you hit that plus power sink it does drain all end from Elite Bosses though.

Basically, it's really hard to use the end drain/boost on it as an effective tool in PvP or against AV's so I really wouldn't suggest trying to slot it that way. Given that the other debuffs on it are so powerful, it makes a lot more sense to look at those as it's strength so making sure it hits and is available as much as possible is a lot better than the benefit from and end mod in there.
4. The title may be a bit melodramatic but I really am concerned about the future of raids and bases in general on CoH so thought it may be worthwhile discussing things.

The biggest concern I have is that as an SG get's older and older, the simple mathematical fact is that base rent is going to go up and up. Your SG worth can only go up and as your rent is a % of that, you're in trouble.

Paired up with the fact that the rate a group earns prestige at may go up during the early period of an SG life but sooner or later it will start declining(people hitting 50, SG hitting member cap, etc). The end result is that the bigger your VG/SG, the sooner you're going to hit the point where rent overtakes your ability to earn and instead of your prestige going up, it will start going down.

It's actually going to be a pretty sad day when you see SG's having to sell stuff off just to pay the rent or bases shutting down as they can't pay the rent.

I know we have the 25% prestige increase to look forward to but that's just going to compound the problem. You're earning 25% more prestige so your SG worth(and rent) is just going up 25% quicker.

Hopefully, Dr Death can flesh out some of my worries as the highest prestige earning group around. I'm sure he keeps a good record of how much prestige comes in each week and how much rent is so may be able to tell us how long until he reaches the point where rent overtakes prestige.

The sad thing is that the end result of of being highest prestige earners about is that people don't really want to raid them anymore as the defences in there tear most raiders apart before they even zone

I don't actually pay too much attention in my VG to how much we're earning in a week or what our base rent actually is each cycle, I just tend to look at how much prestige we have available. Even so, I have noticed our prestige pool is not growing anywhere near as quick as it used to as our rent escalates. The recent prestige award actually seems to have hilighted the problem more as the rent payment increase after that was very noticeable.

I also know there is talk of tying it to plot size in future but still think this is not going to work. Most groups will really be avoiding upgrading plots as a result of the increased rent cost it generates and we'll still have the case where the rent costs on the bigger plots simply can't be covered by even the most active of SG's.

It also strikes me as ridiculous that groups who have put in the work to earn the prestige for plot upgrades will actually end up avoiding taking those upgrades. Surely that defeats the whole point of bases?

I'm also in the process of arranging a cross server base raid on the test server at the moment(details in the PvP section for those who want to sign up). My main concern there is that if I design a base on there ahead of the raid to give us adequate time to get a workable base, what happens if we get hit by a rent payment on test? I'm thinking that all htat time spent designing it will actually leave you with a base that can only be used once as the rent on a 36 million SG will be crippling?

One thing I would be interested in knowing is if anyone knows exactly how rent is worked out? I know it's a percentage of SG worth but does anyone know the exact figure?

Of course, I could be over reacting and doom mongering here so the views of others would be appreciated.
5. Well, the more the merrier. Can you sign up in the official thread linked to in the original post?
6. OK, we're still at the stage where we're very short on the villain numbers. Here are the teams so far

Villains
@Kinslayer - Team Leader, Base Designer
@Sam The Seed
@Neo
@Max Powerz
@The Philosopher
@Rooks

Heroes
@Xanthus - Team Leader
@Hammerfall
@Stalk_obot
@Empath
@Quiver
@X-treme
@Knight Stalker
@Jumanjimon
@Double
@Gatling
@Extremus
@Serophina
@Archy
@Enervator

That makes it a 6 v 14 signup so far. So, unless we get more villains signing up or some of those on the hero side willing/able to play as villains, it's only going to be a 6 on 6 with all the heroes from, and including, Knight Stalker missing out.

TBH, unless we can get at least 8 a side we may have to pull the plug as i'm sure we'll have at least a couple of no shows.

I'll try to drum up a few more people in game over the weekend but it's not looking promising so far.

MA/Regen Build

Don't skip eagle claw whatever you do though as the damage on it may be bad but the stun will help you rack up a lot of kills against squishy toons that try to run.

[/ QUOTE ]

Presume you mean cobra strike, because Eagles claw is the second most damaging move a scrapper can have

[/ QUOTE ]

Probably, my MA got deleted a while ago so forget the names

It's one of the early powers that stuns most of the time. It's not particularly effective against tanks or scrappers because of their mez protection but against squishies, it's a great opening attacking to stop them running and will help you get a lot more kills as a result.
8. TBH, I wouldn't even take health, let alone slot it. Just run the numbers on the time it takes a lvl 50 scrapper to get from 1 HP to full with Integration and fast heal running then add in a three slotted health and try again. You'll probably not even be able to notice the difference unless you time it with a stop watch. Taking both hurdle and swift is more useful than health.

DP and recon should ALWAYS be slotted with 3 recharge/3 heal ASAP. These are what keep you alive and are the only thing you have that will help you come out of alpha strikes.

The other major problem I see here is that integration has no end reducs in yet you don't even slot QR until lvl 27. Is this a respec build or a levelling build? if it's a levelling build, you need to address your end before that.

There are more important powers to take before the fitness/stamina route as a three slotted QR should cover end until a bit later in the build(especially if you plan to PvP. lvl 30 build is important for Sirens)
9. Kinslayer_

MA/Regen Build

Out of all those, Philosopher's build is the one i'd go for if I was going to PvP with a few changes.

I wouldn't bother with health and would take swift instead. The extra unsurpressed mobility will help a lot more than the minimal regen from health. For a scrapper running integration and fast heal, the additional benefit of health is ridiculously low in % terms.

I'd also drop the two run speed slots in SS and the slot in assualt(running assault is pointless as the benefit is minor but the end cost is high, you're just taking it to open up tactics IMO)and put them in fast heal.

I'd also try to fit stamina in before lvl 30 if possible. Even with QR, you will run out of end with tactics, integration and SS running but it is a very tight build so may not be possible to fit it in.

Would also drop kick and tough for Combat Jump and (possibly)Super Jump. CJ, swift and hurdle with run speed/jump slots in give you some great mobility when coupled with SS. SJ can also be ignored for another attack here, thought you will only get 4 slots in it.

For resilience, one slot is all it should have. The actual reason behind resilience is not the defensive boost it gives as it's not even worth getting out of bed for but more for the fact that it allows you to shake off certain mez's so quickly. This was more of a pre-I7 power when EM blappers could stun and toggle drop regen scrappers with ease but is less of a concern since the changes to toggle dropping. If you're only going to be doing high level PvP, it's a good one to take at 49 as it doesn't need slots.

Don't skip eagle claw whatever you do though as the damage on it may be bad but the stun will help you rack up a lot of kills against squishy toons that try to run.

Your main points to consider are if you can get an attack chain at 30. Getting a build that fits all the required powers in for Sirens is one of the biggest headaches for PvP builds and the level 40 cap on Warburg is a lot more forgiving
10. Luckily, I get net access back on Thursday(yay), so count me in for any/all of the weekend runs with my lvl 50 fire/therm corruptor or lvl 45 ice/ice corruptor.
11. IMO, the best ones out of those are pentad, SG rumble or the hero/villain ones.

Main drawbacks with a pentad though would be that there just aren't enough Dom's on CoV, let alone PvP ones!

An SG rumble would also probably see heroes coming out on top.

Another idea may be to have 4 man teams with 2 villains and 2 heroes. A simple knockout if it's limited to 8 or 16 teams would be nice and easy to sort out. 8 teams would still need 32 people entering and as long as everyone sorts their own team, shouldn't take too much effort to organise.
12. That's why I always try to get my guys to meet up in Port Oakes and enter the base from there for base raids. Not sure about on heroes but PO has the easiest base access from hospital as the portal is right outside
13. Slotting of ice fist is really not to be recommended. It's really nothing more than a mediocre attack and for a squishy, I can't see it being used much. Most people go blapping with blasters as some of the attacks in the secondary are so effective(total focus etc)., frozen fists is not one of those.

Also, the slots in CJ and health are next to useless as the numbers on both are just not worth it. At lvl 50, you'll be lucky if a 3 slotted health gave you more than a couple of HP per second and it's rarely going to save you(I should memorise the HP per second number on that as everytime I quote it for blasters their reaction is normally 'wow, it really is rubbish')

I'd probably drop slots from aid other as well. The slot's you now harvested back would definitely go as to hit buffs in aim/build up and in aid self, this will save you a LOT more often than 3 DEF in CJ!

For inferno, I'd go three rchrg, 1 acc, 2 dmg or 2 rchrg, 1 acc, 3 dmg. You should be using a build up or aim beforehand and if you solo, the fact it's available more often will speed things up.
14. [ QUOTE ]
It's a 20 second buff for fire attacks and a 10second buff for others. So no not pointless

[/ QUOTE ]

Bah, I wish they'd update some of the descriptions in this game. I worked a build out last night without it as everything seemed to point to only fire attacks being buffed.

I'll hace a re-jig tonight and see what I can come up with but think what i've got so far is reasonably solid. I a litle lacking on offence and I did take the extra taunt from the pool to go with speed, leaping and fitness.

Only real problem seems to be that not only is offence on it low, end cost with those toggles is high so don't think i'll even try to attack in PvP unless conserve power is up.
15. Hmm, I took a look at fiery embrace and it seemed pretty worthless as it specifies fire power, excluding burn. That means the only power I have it will actually effect is blazing aura.

The only use I could see for it is if I went with fire epic but I'll miss the conserve power and focussed acc from the energy epic if I do that.

Is that just a wording anomaly on it and it does in fact work just the same as build up?
16. [ QUOTE ]
Or at least let us trade in the old plot when we upgrade - that'd slash the cost a whole lot.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can do that? If you have a 1 mill plot and want to get the 2 mill plot, you only need to have 2 mill in available prestige to get the next one up as it counts your surrent 1 mill plot cost towards it AFAIK
17. OK, we currently have 12 out of 16 heroes signed up compared to only 5 out of 16 villains and nearly all of the experienced PvP'ers only seem to have put hero alts down.

Unless the numbers even up a bit or some of the hero sign ups are willing to play villains, not sure if this is going to be possible.

I'll review it next weekend but the bottom line seems to be that if we only get 10 villains, then only the first 10 heroes to sign up will be able to take part to keep the numbers even.

Kinslayer I dont think you seem to understand why ive posted here. If you look at what ive said you will notice I have arranged a meeting for all of those who are interested.

Learn to read between the line's! Also for future refrence dont post if you dont have anything nice to say thats my moto. Appreciacte that the forums are here to gather peep's that you might not be online with at the ame time.

Finally everyone who is interested the meeting time still stands and hope to see you all there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Err, my post was in reference to the failed run the other day and your comment about 'Learn to read between the line's! Also for future refrence dont post if you dont have anything nice to say thats my moto.' was TOTALLY uncalled for.

I never said anything bad about in my post and actually offered advice on how I managed to get a PvP zone badge without PvP hassle.

Good luck and hope your aggressive attitude to suggestions encourages others to post here with ideas that may help you.
19. I've never understood why people post on a public forum saying 'on such and such a date at such and such a time, there will be loads of badgehunters and PvE only heroes in this zone begging for all you PvP villains to come and kill us'

Before the Kronos Titan was added to CoV and I had to use a PvP zone to spawn it, I kept it top secret and deliberately done it at an ungodly hour to prevent PvP interference.

Give the AV's in RV can be spawned and taken down by just two teams, why not just ask who's interested and keep the time/day amongst yourselves rather than post here and beg to be attacked by PvP'ers?
20. I've finally decided to respec my lvl 50 tank for PvP as I rarely touch him nowadays. I will definitely need advice(i.e, post me some builds ) as all my PvP so far has been on Scrappers, Brutes and Corruptors.

I know fire is weak compared to other tanks in terms of actual tanking and ice is not great once you get beyond it's use of ice patch with burn so I really do have no idea how to build him.

The key word is a team build and I want to be able to taunt as much as possible(i'm even considering the pool taunt as well).

Pool wise, i'm guessing fitness, possibly all 4 as I know health can actually be useful on a tank due to the high base HP, leaping for Combat Jump, SJ and acrobatics, I guess speed for hasten and SS should be in there then I get a little stuck.

Choices now seem to be fighting, presence for the extra taunt or medicine for aid self. Really not sure which of those would be most useful in helping me hold and withstand PvP aggro?

Then there's the epic pool and if I even need one, if so, which one?

Also, are powers like ice patch and burn any use in PvP? The fact they are both pbAoE's and the animation on them is pretty long and obvious seems to suggest they're only useful on a target that's held or immobilised and probably not worth taking?

I only have the one respec on this toon and while I can try some builds out on test, it's quite hard to really test PvP builds over there due to it being empty so it's important I get it right.

The final question is, of course, is it even worth doing? I don't have to change him to PvP as I have other PvP builds and if it's just a very poor PvP build to start with, i'd rather keep him Pve.
21. Signing up Quiver with the alt 'mystic madness' on the hero side who would like to design a base(can't access the official forums)
22. Kinslayer_

E.V.I.L. Returns

Max, i'm sure you'll be interested in this along with a few others

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/uk/showfl...ge=0#Post612164
23. This is the sign up thread for the raid mentioned HERE.

Please sign up by listing your global and toons in order of teh preference you would like to play them. If you only want to take part with one toon, just list that but if you're flexible, list them in order of preference.

The idea is for it to be first come first served but we'll see what response is like first and some people may be asked to siwtch toons(no 16 man spine/regen hero teams please!)

Also, if you're interested in being hero team leader or designing a base, put that in. i.e

@kinslayer
Kinslayer - lvl 50 fire/fire corruptor
Exofrost MK IV - lvl 50 ice/ice corruptor
Kal'tk - lvl 50 katana/regen scrapper
D-Zol - lvl 50 fire/ice tank

Would like to design a base
Would like to be hero team leader.
24. OK, this has been discussed before and it seemed to generate some interest so it's time to get it up and running.

On Sunday 27th August at 19.00(UK time), i'm going to run a base raid on the test server. Open to all comers.

What's Needed

16 villains (plus a couple of subs)
16 heroes (plus a couple of subs)

1 Hero team leader - I'll be heading up the villain side but need someone to do the same on the CoH side. If he still wants to do it, this will be Xanthus as this was all his idea.

1 hero base/base designer
1 villain base/base designer

There is a seperate sign up thread HERE so register your interest there and use this thread for any discussion(it just makes things easier for me).

On the base design front, it's entirely up to the 2 team leaders how they do this. On the villain front, I'll be inviting anyone who wants to design one to set up a VG and do it. A few days before it's all due to take place, i'll then get me and a couple of others to look round them and pick the best, maybe pointing out any areas for improvement we can spot.

While I expect it to be a little competitive, I'm going to state here and now that this is for fun. Keep that in mind as we really don't want to see any of the 'pwnzor' attitudes that put so many off of PvP.

The only other point I will make, it would be nice to see some of the well known PvP'ers out there actually PvP'ing on the villain side for a change. We all know how good some of you are on CoH and that effective team PvP on villains is still lagging a bit behind so it would be nice to see some of you taking on a challenge and fighting on the villain side.
25. Clearing the base of defenders for a set period of time does result in a win for the attackers.

However, this is almost impossible to do now as you'd need to destroy their med rings and that's really not an option since I7
