Fire/Ice for Team PvP - Do They Work?
Fire/ice is definately viable in team PvP, could be useful with strategic placing of ice patch. Also the whole fiery embrace +BU will make up for ice's lack in damage i'm sure. In PvP your main job will be a taunt bot. For team PvP i don't think you'll need aid self on top of your self heal, as you'll always have support behind you for team fights. I'd recommend dropping med pool and picking up fighting pool to make you less squishy (tough) you could even pick up fear pool to give you more utility and the extra taunt will definately help.
I wouldn't pick up burn if you went for full PvP spec, but fire/ice is so good in PvE i'd keep it in for the times you do do PvE.
Hmm, I took a look at fiery embrace and it seemed pretty worthless as it specifies fire power, excluding burn. That means the only power I have it will actually effect is blazing aura.
The only use I could see for it is if I went with fire epic but I'll miss the conserve power and focussed acc from the energy epic if I do that.
Is that just a wording anomaly on it and it does in fact work just the same as build up?
It's a 20 second buff for fire attacks and a 10second buff for others. So no not pointless
ask the many ppl x-plosive has 2shotted if its pointless

Bah, I wish they'd update some of the descriptions in this game. I worked a build out last night without it as everything seemed to point to only fire attacks being buffed.
I'll hace a re-jig tonight and see what I can come up with but think what i've got so far is reasonably solid. I a litle lacking on offence and I did take the extra taunt from the pool to go with speed, leaping and fitness.
Only real problem seems to be that not only is offence on it low, end cost with those toggles is high so don't think i'll even try to attack in PvP unless conserve power is up.
omg fire/ice is so nice in pve, dont respec it into pvp. powerlevel me in pve instead hehe :P
I've finally decided to respec my lvl 50 tank for PvP as I rarely touch him nowadays. I will definitely need advice(i.e, post me some builds ) as all my PvP so far has been on Scrappers, Brutes and Corruptors.
I know fire is weak compared to other tanks in terms of actual tanking and ice is not great once you get beyond it's use of ice patch with burn so I really do have no idea how to build him.
The key word is a team build and I want to be able to taunt as much as possible(i'm even considering the pool taunt as well).
Pool wise, i'm guessing fitness, possibly all 4 as I know health can actually be useful on a tank due to the high base HP, leaping for Combat Jump, SJ and acrobatics, I guess speed for hasten and SS should be in there then I get a little stuck.
Choices now seem to be fighting, presence for the extra taunt or medicine for aid self. Really not sure which of those would be most useful in helping me hold and withstand PvP aggro?
Then there's the epic pool and if I even need one, if so, which one?
Also, are powers like ice patch and burn any use in PvP? The fact they are both pbAoE's and the animation on them is pretty long and obvious seems to suggest they're only useful on a target that's held or immobilised and probably not worth taking?
I only have the one respec on this toon and while I can try some builds out on test, it's quite hard to really test PvP builds over there due to it being empty so it's important I get it right.
The final question is, of course, is it even worth doing? I don't have to change him to PvP as I have other PvP builds and if it's just a very poor PvP build to start with, i'd rather keep him Pve.
