    The 50s thread

I was keeping an eye on the search list and 'Debt Collector' seemed to be the first lvl 42 around 19.00.

I'm expecting to see 44's and possibly 45's when I log on tonight.

My original estimate for a 50 was late Sunday but I suspect people will be grinding like mad over the weekend so could well see one late Saturday/early Sunday.

On a personal not, I think mines going to be about two weeks off. Wish I was unemployed/a student
  5. I think i've barely managed to translate your post into some semblance of English so first question is, what do you mean by 'linear' and 'olden'?

Empowerment stations are tech or arcane.

As for the buff lasting the same amount of time on either, what did you expect?

If the dev's made tech more powerful than arcane or vice versa, the cries from SG's who invested 6 months of prestige in the weaker one would have brought the board to it's knees.

Really not sure what you're trying to get at and until you post in a method people understand, not going to be able to help you.
  6. I would say the only fair way of doing this is to say taht all matches have to be fought on the original time and day unless all the team members involved agree to fight it later on that day or push it back to Friday, possibly Saturday(I think some sort of maximum time limit should be put in).

Personally, the clash is a pain but it's just one match and, looking at when the rest are scheduled for, will be the only clash of the tournament. I'm happy to skip going to the pub for a single match out of the 6 Enlgand will be playing in to win the Cup

Not really. Its fairly easy to see who is gonna win - given players of equal talents.

Who do you reckon will win then Night?

The double empathy team. As long as the emps avoide aggor and keep spam healing, no problem.
  8. Oh dear, this is going to be a problem.

Move it to another day and people who can only make Thursdays will be mighty miffed.

Keep it on Thursday and you're asking a lot of people to make a major decision.

Then again, I'm sure we have a lot of Scandinavians taking part who also have a team that will finish second in it's group taking part(no chance of beating Enlgand with or without Rooney, over ambitious Swedes )

I know my team this week has a Spanish player on for example.

Overall, I don't really see how matches can be moved to a different day, but maybe we should be allowed some flexibility to hold them earlier/later by an hour or two if all 6 members get in touch and they all agree it?
  9. Hmm, you'll never convince me on RoF i'm afraid. As I said, it can be useful but it's way too situational to be taken at the expense of other powers.

With regards to it's scatter method, I found on both my lvl 40 fire corruptor and lvl 31 fire blaster that it's a major double edged sword. It scatters the mobs and they run but that takes them all of 2 seconds to get out of it. In that time, you may get off 1, maybe 2 powers. You then have the entire mob caught in it aggro'd on you as a squishy and opening up on you the second they get out of the AoE. The only time it's any use is if solo or in a team with a tank to re-gather aggro. If that is the case, any tank worth his salt will be mighty upset at you scattering aggro in the first place.

RoF scatters mobs, it does not manage aggro and the very brief respite it gives is not worth the aggro it generates unless soloing really.

Is PvP in COH / COV any good ?

    YES

Unless you are playing with Far-Seer and all you can hear him screaming is 'run Kin, run' for the duration of the arena match
  11. OK, on the katana side, you want build up, flashing steel, soaring dragon, golden dragonfly, The lotus drops and Divine avalanche.

DA will be 2 acc, 3 def and will be used to pad out your attack chain and get a nice defence buff.

The other attacks will all be 1 or 2 ACC, 3 Damage(pad them out later with recharge/end reducs as required)

Attack chain on mobs will be BU, Lotus Drops, Flashing Steel for an AoE and Cone, catching as many as possible.

Your two main ones though are Soaring and Golden. Both single target but high damage and have knockdown/knockup.

If you can't fit all of those in just yet, get Lotus or Flashing Steel a bit later. They're useful but not as useful as the others

for the SR part, take a lok at the below guide which may help.

i think cap morgan h8 me he put my team again against 2 controler and again archelon. should we be fighting new opponets in each round.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a random draw each round. By the very fact it's random, that means there's a chance you can fight against or with the same person.

As for coming up against trollers, that's pretty much guaranteed given the amount of them in the tournament. I 'd actually offer good odds on every mathsup featuring either a regen scrapper or a troller!
  13. OK, no point even kidding ourselves this will happen tonight. Postponed until further notice
  14. OK, no point even kidding ourselves this will happen tonight. Postponed until further notice
  15. From my point of view, I've led UnionU taunt teams and taken part in a couple of raids and can say why the same people don't tend to lead raids on Union.

Union has a bit of a problem with the organisation of these. We've had some great raid leaders with great team leaders helping them, we've had some very extensive raid guides written with any questions raised answered well in advance. Then, come raid night, most of the raiders turn up without their coloured costumes, capes flapping and aura's blazing and you see broadcast and local full of 'Where do I go?', 'What do I do?'.

I can completely understand why no one on Union wants to run more than one of these. Why should people put in the effort of trying to lead them when those who want to benefit from the raid can't even be bothered to follow instructions and read a guide in advance?

There's also the frequent 'Ha ha ha, <raid leader> is doing it wrong. All follow me and attack here instead'. Yet you never see these people attempting to organise raids with their 'superior' knowledge on how it should be done.

The sad thing is, those who would turn up to 90 minute raids and be happy to get their HO's are likely to be the same people who tried to disrupt the time consuming early raids when they weren't getting the reults they wanted as quick as they wanted.

I've thought of running one myself and may one day do one. The only reasons for me doing it though will just be for the achievement at the end of it, not because it's my idea of fun.

In reality though, I will probably never bother because I don't think the sense of achievement would outweigh the aggravation that goes with it.
  16. Hmm, any indication of an ETA on the Union draw Cap?

Need to see my opposition and team mates ASAP so we can discuss tactics and get some practice in.
  17. The Tuesday night practice has never really been for heroes as such.

It was set up for villains to practice PvP in an effort to bridge the extra year of practice and teamwork that heroes have had and is always, primarily a 'practice' session for villains to get arena experience and try different tactics(one of the main reasons we cap matches at level of lowest member. It's practice and tactics not 'I want to have this power available otherwise i'm the suxxor').

We do have a couple of heroes join us occasionally and I'm sure there will be a few about tonight but the main aim of tonight is to get as many fights going as possible with the aim of coming up with the best team of villains to take to Wednesday night practice.
  18. That's purely because you guys were calling hotspots over broadcast so we could see where you were going to be and deliberately used the global we set up to go to another one, mainly due to knowing we would be outnumbered.

Our main failure was not lack of organisation, but more that when you turned up at a hotspot and we knew we couldn't win it or a hotspot was already won, the majority of the villains ignored the global calls to move on.

I was simply replying to your flame of Stalk-obot

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What?

Xanth, I think we need to have a chat off forum as there's obviously been some misunderstandings in posts I've made today that have annoyed you.

I've tried to explain those in my other post about HO's on test but saying I'm flaming Stalk is not true.

I've got a lot of time for Stalk, he's helped me a hell of a lot with my builds and I would never flame him.

Yes, your raids are quicker but I've not been to your raids. I don't know if Stalk was on our raid before the ignore mito method as it was before Christmas.

I said why I think we should use the ignore Mito method as our one using the other method took us a lot longer and I stated the reasons behind that from a Union point of view, not comparing it to the times of your raids. We found the ignore mito method easier to organise. I don't see giving my opinions and reasons why we should use that method as flaming. Flaming would have been 'ignore Stalk he's the suxxor'.

Once again, as in my other post, I'm going to apologise if people have taken anything I've posted about HO's as digs at people.

Can you drop me a tell in game next time you're on?
  20. Whoa, hold up people. This is getting a bit 'tit for tat' and if what I've said has provoked that, apologies. Best clear a few things up before people get their hackles raised anymore

OK, you guys are doing Hamidon because it's fun and not to get fully slotted HO PvP toons.

The mentality on the two servers is definitely different in this regard as I don't think any two successful Hami raids on Union have been run by the same people(except when the planned leader didn't turn up for one so Jersey had to take over). On Union, someone tends to try and organise one as a challenge and once they've done it successfully, don't do a second and then you don't see another for a loonggg while.

Why doesn't it get done fortnightly on Union? No one is interested in doing it that regularly.

Why do I see HO's as leaving players at a disavantage in the test fights? Becuase that's exactly what happens. OK there's a maximum of around 6 HO's for a single player on test at the moment. That's probably 3 or 4 more than Union players and in 2 weeks there will be 4 or 5 more, 4 weeks 5 or 6 and so on. I accept that you're saying you don't do it xanth and Arch and not sure why you seem to take this as me pointing a finger, it wasn't

Let's put it another way. If one server has a much higher number of HO's in circulation than another server the potential for HO abuse is there on the test fights. How can you tell if someone is abusing it? You can't because you can't see their enhancements. There will always be someone who does something like this for an advantage.

How do you stop it? Take that advantage away by giving everyone the HO's they want on test using the method above.

Why do I care? As stated by myself and Archy, I don't go to Monday night PvP, when I do go(which by my current lack of PvP skill will be a long way off), I don't expect to be competing with any of the players over there, I know my limits. When I do eventually play, I will also be playing villains, not heroes so it is a completely moot point for me. As for me being bothered I don't have HO's, completely untrue. I have three, all still sitting in my trays. they mean nothing to me and I've offered them as rewards in several competitions or to the people who provided the Kronos titan mission for the villains. Just turns out the people doing it didn't want them either!

I see all these HO's coming into circulation on Defiant and know that I will not be interested in running Hami raids and don't think enough players on Union would to make it feasible to do regularly. So, I came up with another way to help those on my server stay on an equal footing for the test events. It's also worth pointing out that I don't even know any of those who take part in the events other than in passing so the accusation I was offering to do this to enable myself or anyone else to cheat is way off the mark.

I'm sorry people have obviously taken this as me making an attack on Defiant and come out shooting but it was NOT an attack, it was merely me offering to do something for my server.

If it did come across as a bit defensive in my posts after the OP, it's worth noting Shannon's first reply has been edited since it was posted but was definitely having a dig at us on Union for NOT farming Hamidon.

How can you be sure? Have you been to both raids?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Err, haven't you answered that yourself here?

    [ QUOTE ]
It takes us around 10 minutes to actually kill Hamidon. It's the mito clearing that takes the time, as any raid leader will tell you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The method Jiaozy used involves completely ignoring the mito's while staying under a heal blanket. That takes the entire mito clearing phase out of the raid.

The first few Hamidon raids on Union involved the mito clearing and J's one involved ignoring them. The time difference on them was very noticeable.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Any pvp wins on test server would be tainted without properly earnt slotting for me anyway but it could be defianteers are already doing this but i cant say they are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What other reason is there for farming Hamidon on a weekly basis if not for this? Please don't tell me it's being done for fun.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think it will be harder to find people with spare hami's in their tray of all types willing to goto test server so many times on union than on defiant

    [/ QUOTE ]

Err, have you read the method? We only need one person to go over to test and one to take the HO's. All the others need to do is 'loan' the mule their unslotted HO for an hour or so.

As for unslotted ones, I've got 2 on my tank and 1 on my scrapper, all different and we have a raid coming up so can easily do it the weekend after that.

Personally, I don't PvP with a hero on the test nights so have no interest in HO's whatsoever. This idea has been prompted purely as a consideration of the Defiant HO farming.

    [ QUOTE ]
I guess it'll work for just regular vs. Defiant stuff but it seems kinda sleazy if you ask me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Totally understand that Jersey but there's a reason HO's are not a problem in Europe like they are in the US. Hamidon has never been farmed over here so it's very rare to find someone with more than 1 or 2.

Now that this is happening on Defiant on a weekly basis, there are PvP'ers on there with 4 already(more if they had some from post farming raids) and it is now going to be a problem on the test night. Last thing we want is these becoming one sided just becuase Union have no interest in getting huge groups together once a week to farm the lagfest that is Hami.

That leaves any Union players taking part in the test nights with 3 choices

    - Use the copy over method
    - Be prepared to fight Defiant teams at a disadvantage
    - Farm Hamidon on a weekly basis

Personally, I would hate to see the third method take place and the second is unfair. Copying over HO's is not unfair as Defiant can do this themselves if they wish.

    PvP Scrapper

    [ QUOTE ]
Er, why do you say that SoTW is useless while Flashing Steel is a part of the regular attack chain. Flashing Steel seems clearly inferior choice for PvP as it costs more, recharges slower and does less damage. Its only advantage is that it's a cone, but how much of an advantage is a melee cone in PvP?

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, you may have a point there. I took flashing steel as I was a little light on attacks and I know how rubbish SOTW is. I didn't really look at the numbers on them and compare so will look at that tonight.

Must admit I didn't looks at it saying 'Flashing Steel is better than SOTW' and went more along the lines of 'SOTW is rubbish, whhat else am I left with'

I took it more as i've always found flashing steel to have a very quick animation and am actually surprised to hear it does less damage. My perception of it has always been that's it more damaging than SOTW.

If that is wrong, I'll drop flashing steel completely for another power(probably take QR a little earlier, if it's available at 4, then squeeze and extra pool power in)

With regards to the tohitbuffs, I don't know the exact mechanics but I do know that while FA can be used in PvE and accuracies dropped from attacks, in the testing I've done of PvE, 3 slotted FA does not even come close to replicating 2 ACC's in all attacks.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also there are no accuracy debuffs, only tohit debuffs

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think thats what you've highlighted there Idris. I can't recall it as it was while ago but there was a post where ACC was praised over tohitbuffs in PvP purely for this reason.

Relying on FA will see you suffer from debuffs more than if you relied just on ACC as they're where the debuff is applied. Again, iu'm not saying this with 100% certainty until I can find the post with it all explained in and lik to it.

Edit: Second thoughts, think I can't find it as it was on US forum not here. May take me a while to find it on there.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
The Defiant players will be able to do this even better they will have more types of Hami-o's

    [/ QUOTE ]

Err there are only a very limited number of different types of HO's available so how will Defiant have more types than Union given each Hami raid sees 100+ HO's appear?

    [ QUOTE ]
Soon all Defiant players will "pwnz jo0!!!!111!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please take this juvenile mentality back to your servers forum instead of coming into the Union one and trying to have a pop at us.

    [ QUOTE ]
If it could be done. i would be farming hamidon everynight on union and do it for an entire month

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thankfully, that sort of thing doesn't appeal to most of us on Union as I can think of no bigger waste of my time than farming the lagfest that is Hami on a weekly basis
