    Unfortunately I've had that experience as well. My solution to the problem was to quit the mission, go beat up some level 20s, and do the *other* level appropriate alignment mission.

    You can have two different alignment tips in your tips queue at the same time, but finishing either will clear the queue. I found this out entirely by accident one night when I got 2 of them from the same spawn by fireballing a group behind the ghost of scrapyarder.

    I actually do it on purpose now, so I can do the 'Burn Croatoa' mission instead of the 'Multiple Selves' mission on all my high level villains.

    I very rarely read the story, I'm one of those people who view the dialog as something that is in the way of me smashing stuff.

    Personally I don't use a single purple set in my build.
    I fill both my single target and group immobilize with 5 "Enfeebled Operation".

    I've got perma-hasten, perma-domination, and am capped to smashing/lethal.
    I can take out large spawns easily with fire breath and combustion, plus I have roots, carrion creepers, and Audrey for even more damage/control.
    SoC recharges in 17 seconds on my build, and it takes me slightly less than that to kill an entire spawn of lvl 54 without ever taking a hit.

    I had the fire epic for a while, but I didn't really need the extra AoE damage, and the S/L softcap makes it possible for me run around like an idiot inside the Lamdba maps w/o caring much about anything.
    I also didn't take the group hold... I don't need it.

    That's what is great about this game, you can build however you want and still be effective and have fun.
    Below is my build, it is not the best by a long shot, but it is relatively cheap (A-Merits for the win!) and lots of fun for me to play.

    I know you want the fire epic, but if you want defense, you want the Scorpion Shield from Mace mastery. That and some sets and you can easily cap to S/L.

    I have done Lamda's where for whatever reason I didn't get *any* temp powers, even though I was on one of the teams and blowing up crates.

    I have also had both temp powers occasionally when my team finishes an objective first and we head to the other 'vators.

    Purely anecdotal stuff here:

    On my fire/dark corruptor I have *never* gotten the common table. I have gotten the Uncommon 4 or 5 times, The Very rare exactly twice, and the Rare about 12 (yep, the vast majority).

    After I finally got him where I want him I pulled out my Dominator (plant/fire).

    So far, after 2 Lambdas and 3 BAFs:

    Unlocked Alpha, 1 Rare, 3 Uncommon, 1 Common. I ended up breaking down Astrals and Emps just to make enough commons to get my level shift on Alpha.

    Do what you want/can with the above, it is all the experience I currently have.

    I can't speak for others, but my set-up is currently this on my main Incarnate:

    Purple : Alpha, Destiny, Lore
    Orange : Judgement, Interface

    I'm basically stopping there because it is good enough for what I want to do with him and am now going to concentrate on my second Incarnate.

    There's no reason you can't do it, but there is a cooldown timer which may make swapping them out inconvenient.

    You cannot swap an incarnate power out while is currently in use or recharging, and there *may* be an additional time factor (like the 15 minutes for switching builds) but I'm not sure on that second part.

    As an almost exclusively ranged player, I simply watch the screen and see things like "2nd warning WEI". Then I make sure I'm nowhere near him when the 3rd one goes off, and then I switch to heal mode (if capable) or just keep up DPS.

    It's nice to have a tank/scrapper/brute looking out for my well being and getting out of there before I get held, but it is ultimately MY RESPONSIBILITY to pay attention to what is going on and keeping myself safe.

    It doesn't hurt that I am a sole-less villain and expect to have to look for myself.
