Is it possible to turn on "overhead" bars for all enemies?
Sometimes in AoE packs I can hardly tell what's what with all the effects firing, and would like to be able to see with a little more detail wth is going on, without tabbing like a fiend.
Any other tips for finding the bosses in a pack, or just telling how the hp of the pack is doing and picking who to go after?
Thanks. -
I feel like I have too much to fit in and can't figure out the order in which to fit it.I guess this is better than being bored, but dang it, I am having trouble cramming it in.
I am pretty sure that I want nearly every pri/sec, and fitness, and fighting and, due to the slow recharges on mace, hasten.
This is something I threw together, but it feels a bit disjointed, and frankly somethings seem too late, and its just so freakin' *tight*.
Any thoughts from vets?

Thanks for the responses.
What about fusing the ideas and doing Elec/WP. You get alot of the AOE goodness, but with the end and more survivability of WP. -
The fundamental problem is that other threads are stickied on these forums, and not this one.
I am worried that emergent AI will see these other stickied threads, infrer that we do not understand what is pretty and strong, and they will rise up and enslave us. -
Hello.
I am relatively new to villain side, and I am in the phase of trying out a bunch of different Brutes after I sort of petered out on MM, as it was fun, but once I got my 32 power I plateaued, and I am taking a break to try a completely different direction.
Last night I was playing my teens WM/WP and there was a high level 50 in the AE that was Elec/SD, and it was pretty freaking sexy, and I am thinking of trying that combo too, but I do like my WM/WP character, so I wanted to sort of compare. I have never seen a 50 WM/WP go to work, so I don't have a point of comparison. From a concept standpoint, I have good ideas for concepts either way, so that's not a big deal.
I am sorry if my musings are a bit rambl-y, but I just wanted to get some thoughts out there and get people's advice and experience.
WP and SD
These two are really interesting in that they have two major abilities that are sort of the opposites of each other. WP gets this great healing with more enemies, and SD gets more damage with more enemies. Also, SD has an AoE attack, which is another offensive capability over WP.
Does it really come down to whether you want to be more offensive or more defensive?
WP appears to have no s/l def, and SD has no healing. I do really like the regen aspects of WP, but am confused by the lack of s/l def. I suppose you have to take Weave as a WP? How does one shore up SD? What's the weakness?
WM vs. Elec
Having seen in person now Elec go and asplode the world, and looking at paragon wiki I have trouble seeing how WM can ever do the same amount of damage. I know WM is considered relatively good at AOE, but can it even come close to Elec?
Am I wrong for it to look like WM just can't compete with Elec? I know I am missing something here, as I am assuming the sets have been balanced over the years to be roughly similar on some kind of level.
Synergy - Elec/SD
Am I crazy or is Elec/SD super synergistic? What an AoE machine to get more damage with more mobs and to have Shield Charge and Lightening Rod. It's like a thundering truck of Hell!
Where is the weakness here? ST damage? Lack of self healing?
Synergy - WM/WP
The stuns and KU, seem like they would be great to allow RttC to work, and I bet this works out great for survivability.
RttC seems to be really super awesome for "tanking" provided you survive the alpha. Having a 40's regen scrapper, I know how regen and alphas don't get along.
It appears the weakness here is s/l defense and just (relative to Elec/SD) the loss of that delicious piled on AoE goodness.
Conclusion
Thanks for reading this, and I appreciate any feedback. If you couldn't tell, it looks to me like Elec/SD is like this super great combo, and WM/WP is merely mortal, not bad at all, but just not as epic, and I am hoping that some people with experience can check my observations and reasoning.
Thanks!! -
He's only just a few levels in, but DB/WP has been a perfect fit.. he's a nasty, sword hacking mess that gets better with more enemies.
-
Hello.
I have a concept char in mind. He is a mean, nasty demi-god. Maybe he's such a ******* that his mom or dad God won't claim him. Anyway, he's certainly a brutish enforcer. Certainly a large, in-your-face, presence that is going to thrown down some nastiness, old school style.
Technically, I could work virtually anything to fit, I suppose but I am limiting myself to the following classical kind of demi-god ideas...
Primary
Battle Axe
Dual Blades
War Mace
SS (if the others just plain suck bad, I do like the idea of a weapon)
Secondary
Invulnerability
Shield
Will Power
I am looking for the most actual in game "fun" character of the above. Sometimes fun on paper doesn't translate. I also would like to have my cake and eat it too if I could =), a character that is good AOE DPS and defensive enough to be as tank-ish as possible.
Maybe as I develop and like it, I could be branching out to some investment into IO's and other things, but I am not primarily looking for something that blossoms only under perfect purple bliss, etc.
Thanks for any tips! -
Quote:Thanks, looking at that guide, I wasn't even aware of the existence of common IO's! I just sort of assumed it was TO,DO,SO, then Set IO's! What a new perspective this all has given me. Thanks. Here's a guide to memorizing recipes. When you get a memorization badge for a class of recipes, you've memorized those recipes. You don't ever have to buy the recipe again, and your crafting cost is dramatically reduced.
Quote:With my example of 30-34, it includes recipes from the 10-30 and the 30-50 set ranges, and both set ranges have some very nice money earners such as -KB recipes in the 10-30 range and other nice things in the 30-50 range.
35-39 will include higher end recipes, and will likely be slanting the roll chance towards one of these recipes, for example LotG
Thanks a ton so far! -
Thanks to everyone for all the great and varied respones, both simple and fancy.
I have three last questions:
1) Is it generally better to use tickets and get the salvage to make your own IO's and get the recipies, or to just go for bigger inf items and buy the IO outright?
2) Why does everyone say to go for this 35-39 salvage or 35-39 random recipies? Why not 40-50?
3) What does it mean to memorize a recipe? I have crafted a pair of costume parts so far, and never an IO, so my crafting experience is limited. How does one memorize a recipe and what are the consequences of not memorizing and the benefits of memorization.
Thanks! -
I am curious about the best ways to make inf to then turn buy IO's. I see people with all these builds that look to cost 200-400 million inf, and I can't figure out where it comes from. I played most of my CoH before IO's were introduced, and I can't get my head around how to start to get the inf together for these builds.
I am just looking for a simple kind of quick overview. *Not* a get rich quick scheme kind of thing, or some exploit or trick, just how to do make the inf for the IO's. I see people talk about farming this or farming that, but can just killing mobs over and over produce this level of inf?
Obviously, there is getting inf from killing mobs and mishes, but for example, how do people turn AE's/tickets into inf, or does that even work like that? I just do them for XP, and use the tickets to buy so's, I dont see where the inf comes from.
I see IO's for sale in the zillions, and figure there is some way to get inf of those numbers, and I also see level 50's running AE's, and Strike Force / Task Forces and assume those are connected somehow, but I am just not connecting the dots.
Thanks for any advice. I don't mind earning it at all, I just need to know where to direct myself.
Thanks. -
Do the current gen 4xxx graphics cards from ATI still suffer from rendering funny and kind of being out of whack with CoH? I seem to keep bumping into having to configure things six ways to sunday for ATI cards.
Thanks for any insight! -

Thanks for all the great replies.
Since levelling is so fast these days, I am sticking it out for a while.
I dinged 26 last night, so my Thugs/Dark and Bot/FF are the same level now, and I can compare them with the Assault Bot vs. The Bruiser as well.
Preliminary results put the two closer than I thought, perception counts for a lot... it's nice to be able to do the *exact to the letter* same mish on both and compare. They are both the same level, which is why I posted, the bots seemed slower, but even at 25 I compared them without the bigboy pets, and the bots were doing closer than I thought.
The reason I posted really is that they are the same level, and I want to pick one to go forward with. I am reinvigorated and looking forward to 32 on the Bot.
Also, I like Padre's build, I may give a little on concept and go for hover/fly as I am not using recall friend much, and hover would give me some status protection.
One question, how much does a build like that cost with 40ish IO's? -
Thanks for this, I didn't even notice when I came back. I have been casting it over and over. Wow, what a great find.
So do people slot it at all now, on one of my MM's I have it 3x slotted for End and now that seems less need. -
Hello.
Am I just at a rough patch at 24, or what?
My favorite concept ever is bots/ff/mu with teleporting. I love the thought of it, but man its not working out in practice, or at least, its boring. I stopped playing my 25 Thugs/Dark to play my concept-love here, but it's like a girl on a dating site that isn't matching up to the bio and picture.
I realize I don't even have the assault bot or upgrade yet, so its early to judge, but does it get better 32+? My Thugs/Dark doesn't have bruiser yet either, and he feels so much more effective in game. My Bots/FF just doesn't give me that sense of asskickery I expect from a MM.
I feel like my bot pets kill slow, and that between protectors and FF I have ok defense, but not enough to compensate for the bad dps, particularly the incredible lack of meaningful AoE. I know the bot has flamethrower and missles, so that obviously picks up. I am surprised that my FF-ness is just kind of meh, and I miss the aoe heal and debuff of Dark.
I do ok in teams, but I am really feeling like I would feel more "powerful" if I worked on my 25 thugs/dark or started a thugs/pain.
I am willing to work with this char a little, because I do love the concept, but it just feels kinda meh, and I am looking for those that have seen it through to let me know if it really delivers at 32 like it looks like on paper, because if it doesn't start to pick up I may just go back to the Thugs/Dark or try a Thugs/Pain.
Any thoughts?

Quote:Sorry for a bit of a necro on a thread, but what is meant by "the AoE thing for Pet Buffs."Yeah, it's a pain. I got my Bots/FF to 50 before they did the AoE thing for Pet Buffs. Think of that: 24 buffs at the start of every mish, plus my toggles, solo.
You get used to it. Bubbling a whole team ain't such a big deal for me any more, I can tell ya.
Thanks for any insight. -
I have really good luck with just having 3 pet command macros.
ST (For single target) - Attack my target, defensive mode. They go after that target, usually a boss or other key mob.
AE (For "AOE") - Goto + aggressive mode. I send them off to a side from the pack of mobs so I can keep my eye on them on teams. This isn't necessarily AOE but it's the idea, they are using their AI to attack things in thier area. The bots have a great range, and I can set this pretty far from the pack and they behave right, or I can put them up closer to ensure they are going to town on a wider variety.
BG (For Bodyguard mode) - Follow Me, go Defensive
(and the built in heel for just back off, but I dont find I use it much)
I find those three commands allow me to play the game fine. When my pets misbehave, I use AE to push them to a new spot and go to town, or I just pick a semi-random enemy to focus on and that get's their minds right. -
That's a tough one to chew on, as is not having personal attacks, other than force bolt, which fortunately is a lot of fun.
Aid Other is kind of helpful on teams, as well as a double layer of defense for keeping bots alive. As I am going for a full pet-master kind of build, I like having that extra chance to keep them up and those fighting.
This is a pass at attempting to SO slot these powers through 40.
Thanks for any advice.

Would a build like this work?
I have only worked it out to 40, I just want to have a sort of levelling guide, to know what to pick as a I go.
Any thoughts? I am taking TP for concept/fun... would teleport foe/friend make more sense?

Is there anyway to get to the old guides?
I was away from the game for a while, and would like to double check my pet command macros.
I have a direct attack a mob, and a goto+attack, and those seem to work ok, but I have no recollection whether I need to get fancier. -
For those BS/SD, is there enough AoE in there with Shield Charge?
I am coming from a MA/Regen and just Dragon's Tail is not enough to make me feel like I have quite enough AoE.
I thought about MA/DS, but I feel like I have kind of done MA at this point.
Any thoughts? -
Thanks.
Bouncing around the wiki, I think I have a pretty good general understanding of the principles.
Figuring out which set to take seems pretty straightforward, but the whole enterprise seems a bit confusing to try to figure out how many to take from a set and to avoid bumping into various caps. -
I am just coming back from a break, and working out some slotting ideas.
I see people talk about slotting purples. I assume purples are more rare or higher end io's, but I am having trouble figuring out how to tell what's purple when looking at builds.
Are there sets that are only purple? Are there sets that have a purple version of the same set just better? Are their sets that some of the uniques are purple and others regular?
Thanks. -
Sorry if this is an obvious observation, but whats really goign to kill redside in going rogue is the AE clustering.
I came back from a hiatus, to find the vast majority of the population in Atlas Park. It's natural for people to centralize out of one AE hub, and you bet your butt, day one of going rogue, people are going to start to head to AP from both sides and get on the xp train.
I know I would love to start a MM, go blue, and mix it up asap.
