So, starting a couple days ago, I've begun to have an issue where if I try to change my window size or ambient occlusion settings (Thus far that I've tested, getting irritated) the game locks up and becomes unresponsive. I've tried running the repair, and even reinstalled City of Heroes, and am still having this issue. I've probably forgotten some steps for trying to figure this out further, but any assistance would be appreciated.
  2. I appreciate the assistance on this, I had updated my build some since I posted it, but I kept running into the same issue when trying to match up to the suggested builds defense wise. Also, I had originally put burnout into the build as a way to get a 4 minute One with the Shield, but I suppose I don't realistically need that ever. Thanks for the help!
  3. So, I've started playing tankers again after a very long time of mainly brutes, and I've decided to try out Shield and Martial Arts. I think I've got a decent build laid out, but any advice on it would be very much appreciated.

  6. Well, as nice as a team mission teleporter is, I'm gonna have to pass on it. I really need to start saving up my points for all the new powersets coming out over the next few months. On the other hand, that 50% xp booster that you can cast on other people seems pretty nice....until that person wants to use a double xp booster and can't until the 50% wears off. Which has happened to me....argh.
  7. I just thought of something. While everyone is indeed focused on the glorious Double XP weekend...they seem to forget that it also doubles inf and prestige gain. Which makes me wonder, do the windfall and prestige boosters stack with the double inf and prestige as well? Or is it only the XP booster that stacks?

    This is an...interesting idea to say the least. The Nova would become more and more blaster-esq I'd imagine, and the Dwarf would probably go more along the lines of a tanker, with Human being a blapper with shields. Not sure how well it would work out though. Its a rather massive overhaul of two ATs.

    One thing about this, you don't put a 'chance to hold' proc into Gravity Well, it already has the inherent chance to hold. Unless you are talking about the proc that gives a chance to boost the hold magnitude?

    I do agree with this, though its not what I'm doing with my warshade. I'm currently going with the Musculature for increased damage, as I'm not overly worried about defense, I've got plenty of recharge, and my endurance usage really isn't all that bad. With the 45% boost to damage I'm getting with the musculature, I'm dropping enemies very quickly giving me bodies for stygian circle, to create my fluffies, and for using unchain essence on.The defense would be nice for avoiding status effects, as I recall Dechs bringing up either somewhere in his guide or in a post, I can't remember which. I took the clarion destiny however, and now have status effect protection at all times, assuming I don't die between recharges. Bio is right though in saying that people who would want to go for defense and extra recharge should go with the agility. I'm thinking that its almost entirely to preference though, as many of the alphas boost at least a few of the WS's abilities.

    Oh, I definately agree with that. As it stands right now, my WS build is a true human only, no set holding bi-forming. It really frees up slots to make your human form so very much more effective, even if some believe that having the other forms will be better. One issue I ran into was that I had very low defense without those extra sets in dwarf form. I have compensated with this however by going for more HP, keeping my recharge high so as to heal off of stygian circle more often if I need, and keeping eclipse perma, so that I'm already taking a small amount of damage. The only major thing that you need to watch out for, and its pretty much a duh, is status effects. Until you get something like the Clarion destiny, status protection will be your bane.

    Glad I can help out some though, and I hope that your updated guide will be successful!

While I do agree that the incarnate abilities are there to patch some of the holes in different ATs, like the clarion destiny patching the status protection hole on WSs, I do think that maybe having a click power along the lines of like practiced brawler from Super Reflexes might be a nice addition, if they don't give us a toggle.
  14. You'll probably be getting some posts here by the more well known forumers at some point within the next few days, but I've got some input based off my (very little) experience playing a human-only warshade...

    First things first, I'd like to point out something that Dechs actually mentioned to me while I was looking for input on my build, and thats that if you get enough recharge to make hasten and eclipse perma, then you shouldn't really need to go with the spiritual alpha. I'm using the musculature, and I'm doing pretty dang good, with a very high damage output.

    Another thing I'd like to point out is that the best slotting you can get out of eclipse is two nucleolus hami-os and two recharge IOs, gives you the most bang for your buck, and saves slots.

    Something I've noticed as well is that taking dwarf form for set holding powers is also something that is a viable idea for a human only warshade, and is something I had done for awhile during the period of time that I was getting my build ironed out.

    Anything else though....I'm not entirely sure. I've really only been playing a WS as human only for about a week or so now. Hopefully you get more posts by people who know more than I do!
  15. A couple of things I noticed, and from what I've been getting told while working on my own Human only WS build. One, use Nucleolus Exposures in Eclipse, as they boost the damage resistance and accuracy, even though it says damage. Also, I would recommend Essence Drain over Quasar, as using Quasar will drop all your toggles. Other than that, I think its pretty good, though others with more experience may pick it abit better than I have.

    Human-Only WS?

    Now I've got one more question...would it be a good idea to go with the spiritual alpha, or could I make do with say, Musculature or Intuition? I do believe that, if not using the Spiritual, I should probably use Intuition as it will boost my hold in gravity well, my damage, my slows, and my range. As it stands right now, I'm pretty happy with my recharge, though it seems that even with perma hasten, people have said 'doesn't matter, spiritual anyways'.

    I really only used dwarf form as a set holder in order to get abit more recharge and HP, though comparing my build to the second suggestion you brought up, I think that losing a little HP, Recov, and max end in place of around 10% higher defense may be worth it, though being short that extra recharge I lose perma hasten, but just barely, so that would be a non-issue, as it would be fixed as soon as I get another Purple set going. And as for the getting mezzed...I figure I'm going to go for the clarion destiny anyways, as once I get the T4 it'll be perma, and mezzing won't be much of an issue. Beyond this though, I think I'm getting to the point where I'm decently satisfied with the effectiveness of the build. Only issue I've been having in game has been giant monsters really, and enemies that don't leave bodies behind, but thats what inspires are for.

    I have definately read your guide Dechs, and its what brought me to play a WS. However, I never could bring myself to keep switching between the different forms, and ended up spending the majority of my time in human or dwarf form. After reading the past few comments and trying to build it, I'm starting to think that a 'just human' WS wouldn't be very viable for what I'm aiming at. This is a Human/Dwarf build with the idea of keeping recharge high, HP and Regen high, ST damage high, and also be able to keep targets mezzed. I appreciate all the help thus far, and I'm sorry for frustrating TwoHeadedBoy so much with this. I've come to realise that you can't just 'make' a WS build, but have to play it and find out what works and what doesn't. Once again, thanks for the assistance so far, and I'd like some input on the build as it is right now.

    Alright. After playing a previous Human WS build on the live servers for awhile now, and having gotten a feel for it, I've decided to retool my build abit. My new build has 37% S/L defense, nearly perma Hasten, Perma Eclipse as long as hasten is going, and some decent damage coupled with decent mitigation. Input on this build would be appreciated, and I'm able to afford just about any changes suggested, though I would like to see my defense staying somewhere around or above 35% S/L. An alpha suggestion would also be much appreciated, though I'm currently working on the musculature tree as I have a high haste rate current making spiritual less needed, I think.
