  1. Very very well written. You write good stuff but this one shows of having the six month polishing on top of it.

Each time you write something like this I get all hyped about RP because you make CoH like a living world.

And then I log on and get confronted to reality
  2. I was fiddling with Mids and taking a gander at Elec melee and.. yeah, seems nice for the AoE but I see where people are coming from when they talk of the ST damage.

Any of you gurus out there think Elec/SD can defeat an AV without surrounding itself with minions?
  3. I usually farm with a fire/kin, but I find it squishy even with its softcapped S/L defense. I'd like to try something sturdier, something that can take +2 or +3 bosses. I've seen some spines/fire who seem able to, but then so do some tanks like the fabled fire/fire.

For farming purposes I'd lean towards the scrapper, but to get ten +2 or +3 bosses on me a tank might just survive better.

I was looking to a SD/Fire tank which looks like it would do great burst within a BU and would give the survivable as well, but after playing several tanks and trading them for scrappers I'm a bit leery of returning to the lower damage.

    Anyway, here's the build.

  4. The only problem with your Siphon Life is the no recharge at all in it.

If you remove the three res slots in True Grit and distribute them over your travel powers for the third Zephyr you will cover your AoE hole at the cost of 6% res to fire/cold/etc.

You had Phallanx Fighting set to 1 ally in range, btw.

Dark Consumption serves you better with endurance for the times you get stuck against one single enemy, IMO.

I shuffled your slots around to show what I mean. One of your purples from MG was put in SL, but you can put a Crushing Impact damage/recharge instead for minimal difference.

  5. I tried over the PvP forums but it's a bit deserted over there.

Anyone here has experience with a MA/Regen and could throw me some tips? I rarely PvP and certainly never made a build purposefuly for it so this is my first try at a PvP only character.

For example, Thunder Kick has a chance of stun and is very spammable despite its trivial damage, is that sort of thing useful in/for PvP or just feggedaboutit and stick with Eagle's Claw which is both high damage and a good stun chance?

Badly worded, quick posted. I meant, losing CP by switching from the Body epic to Blaze.

Not sure what you were aiming at. Are you saying Blaze will have Consume? Because if I say that switching from one epic to the other I might not have the endurance and your reply is to not switch, well... Pointless reply is pointless.
  8. I'm not savy in MA nor in PvP, but I'm leveling one of these puppies just to do some PvPing. Is there anyone a bit more knowing that could share some wisdom about what I should be trying for?

For example, Thunder Kick is weak, but does disorient and can be spammed, is it worth to keep despite the low damage just for the consecutive stun chances?

Here's to hoping we get Consume to make up for CP's loss *when switching from Body to Blaze.

I frankly don't know how my future elec/SD/Blaze will survive without either CP or Dark Consumption.
  10. Pretty much. I had polished my arc and it looked good to me and after posting on the forums and having a few detailed reviews I could improve it further in aspects I hadn't even thought about.

Mostly it's the 'it's fun' feedback which, while nice, doesn't really help in improving.

As for me when I like an arc I post feedback stating what I liked in particular (most times the dialogue, but sometimes the NPCs or the descriptions) and if it has something lacking then I point it out.

*Detailed* reviews I only do for friends and it involves me playing with a Notepad file open and me jotting down my impressions and thoughts.
  11. I went for the +HP and +regen route (capped HP and regenerating 107 HP) and I can tell you though it worked just great for some things (pulling two spawns of romans on the walls didn't make my HP dip) for others it just didn't keep up.

AVs would hit faster than I could regen and stuff like the nictus boss spawns over the ITF would really hurt.

I tried to give it defense, but without dipping too much sets, so it has around 20% something to melee and 35% to energy.

Though I love that tank and I find it very survivable I think that increasing further the defense is really the key. I had a build I was working before I lost interest, capped to all and still regenerating 100 HP per second, but I likes Hasten and scrankering and the attacks were gimped a bit too much for my tastes.
  12. I used to have a little kin following me around, she'd keep me SBed all the time and would even throw FS once in a while.

Been a long while since I did that, but with the difficulty in finding teams and the lower damage output of my new toons I've un-shelved her and tried a couple of runs.

No go. She happily spams attacks like mad and refuses to buff.

*Once* in a while she SBs at the beggining of the mission, once in a while she FS', but all of it very rarely.

I tried different combos of agressive and defensive, of customizing and standard, of giving lots of attacks and all the kin secondary to a minimum of powers. Nothing has worked, she happily spams attacks and refuses to buff.

Any one has managed to make NPCs work lately?
  13. I went for ET since I already had CP and FA. It's nice, it works, but the recharge is too slow for what it does.

IOed to the gills it still takes 7.5 seconds to recharge. If it so much as went down to 5 seconds I would consider it good.

    *And* it's rather endurance costly.

Still, if you're aiming for a bit more AoE ET will do the trick.

    Farming Tanks

Oh there were plenty of challenges thrown left and right, but I rarely see these 'challenges' actually happen, they are just wind and boasting with a layer of bragging.

It's not even as if there would be proof of anything, a fire/kin in someone's hands would be better than a tank depending on build, enemies and 'skill' while on someone else's hand it would be worse. Same for the tank.

Just like people complaining over and over about /regen being so sucky and someone else comes in and shows that he soloed four AVs at the same time.

It doesn't change the core of the post you quoted : the talking had been civil until that guy stepped up and went rude, agressive even, with some personal jabs thrown in.

*If* he was so damn sure of being so superior, then just post the number of the farm he uses and then Youtube a run of it, and his challenger would Youtube running the same map.

Slapping someone with a glove and asking for a duel? Please!

But maybe I don't see the difference in gaming and real life.
  15. I'd be interested in a MA/Regen build too, mostly because I'm neither used to MA or used to PvP. I usually just blunder in with a PvE build but this MA/Regen is being made for PvP only.
  16. Webnade also has a hefty -40% recharge (don't know if it's the same value for PvP). Weapon also has targeting drone with the same stats as FA.

Guess that's why Weapon is so much of a normal pick for PvP.

  18. I'm trying a MA/regen for PvP and leveling it up, I think that build would be fine to my MA inexperienced eyes, or perhaps change Body Mastery for Weapon for the webnade?
  19. Though I understand it's a joke thread I'm still a wee taken back with all the petition comments all because someone called the other by sexy.

I certainly don't flip out or roll out the semi veiled insults because someone calls me hun and it happens more often I'd care to remember.

If it's really that troubling iRL to be called sexy in a game I would suggest :

    A) - Don't make a sexy character.

    B) - Make a male character (unless you're going to RP that character and the gender matters).

    C) - Ask the person not to do so. Communication? Iz good.

    D) - Too awkward to ask the person not to do so, or the person insists? Left-click, ignore, keep on playing.

I'm probably interjecting a sour note in a (I think) joke thread, but the reaction to a simple 'hi sexy' is disproportionate. A 'Hi sexy wanna cyber?' yes, all of those, though personally I don't argue with troublesome (read stupid) people, I just choose the D option.
  20. Ah, under a different name but that's my woe too. Good to see I'm not the only one then, less good that there isn't a quick fix for it.
  21. Does anyone have this? It's highly annoying to read a thread, come back the next day and see it bolded (AKA someone posted since I last read it) but discover it's the same post you last saw.

This seems like a cookie thing, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Any ideas on how to fix this?
  22. Ever since the cone warping patch fix SM has lost its sparkle. I would not have traded it back in the day hitting 5 mobs was an everyday thing, but nowadays if I hit three I consider I'm doing well.

Which on a purely DPS manner is still ok, since SM hits like a truck and recharges really fast, so it can be done two or three times in the recharge of another wider cone, but completly loses once we enter a team and can no longer take our time lining, or attempts of lining are dysrupted because the mobs are following someone else, or we try to move and a team member/pet is in the way, etc.

I traded SM for Energy Torrent and though I wailed at its loss in the beggining ET has grown on me. Without math to back me up it roughly feels I take the same time to defeat spawns, but now I can use it in teams and as mitigation.
