Farming - Scrapper or tank?

I usually farm with a fire/kin, but I find it squishy even with its softcapped S/L defense. I'd like to try something sturdier, something that can take +2 or +3 bosses. I've seen some spines/fire who seem able to, but then so do some tanks like the fabled fire/fire.

For farming purposes I'd lean towards the scrapper, but to get ten +2 or +3 bosses on me a tank might just survive better.

I was looking to a SD/Fire tank which looks like it would do great burst within a BU and would give the survivable as well, but after playing several tanks and trading them for scrappers I'm a bit leery of returning to the lower damage.

Anyway, here's the build.

My DM/sd scrapper can solo 8 man 52s and 53s boss spawns, but it's expensive as hell.

The more people I meet, the more I'm beginning to root for the zombies.

I guess I don't understand why the proposed activity is called "farming." Farming involves processing enemies in bulk per hour to maximize reward over time invested, right? Typically it would be done to even-levels if you're 50 (some folks would even prefer to farm 47s for purple drops because it's faster to kill them, although the non-purple drops would then be possibly-less-valuable 47 IOs instead of 50 IOs).

Is this a tickets-per-hour thing in AE? I'm less familiar with that, and maybe the +2/+3 bosses give more tickets?

If that's not it, I'd say you want to fight +2/+3 for the challenge and perhaps for the greater rewards per foe, but I don't think I'd call it "farming" per se.

I'll get back to you when i16 hits and my fire/shielder can then have the fire app... :-)

I'd honestly say a SD/SS/Pyre or SD/Fire/Pyre would be more survivable when farming bosses, and pretty fast too. I'd probably lean towards the SD/Fire after playing and IO'ing an SD/SS. The latter seems better for quick LT battles, as it is a massive pain to try and keep your end up even with a full IO build with Numina + Miracle + Performance Shifter procs. (Hasten and Rage crashes really add up)

A soft capped melee Spines/Fire/Blaze or Spines/Fire/Energy should be wickedly fast too though. Just much more squishy I would think.

*edit* A Fire/Shield/Blaze could be pretty wicked too if you built it for farming. Might be rough to fit everything in though and have the survivability you need.
