    Since you replied, I assume you already found this: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=117256

    I don't know of (or feel the need for) anything newer than that...
  2. Oh yes, some of those changes are brilliant... I was trying to go for more recharge than recovery, actually, I just... There were places where you moved a slot into a different power to allow a recharge set bonus, that I simply didn't see the option.

    Thank you very much!
  3. Finally hit 50 (and unlocked my Alpha slot! - still waiting to catch an iTrial in the making, but I have time...). The following is my attempt at a "first goal" for my build. I did put in an LOTG +recharge and a purple sleep set as "stretch goals" (hero merits, perhaps?), but for the rest I tried to keep it to something I think I can get, sets I'm already familiar with / have pieces of, etc. I have something like 100 mil between all of my characters, so I expect it to take a while to accomplish even this level...

    I welcome any thoughts. Had a lovely chat yesterday with an older emp/archery that set my brain to percolating, but anything you want to add to the mix... Powers, enhancements, playstyle, how best to gather inf now that I'm a 50... You know, whatever.

  4. That seems to only count the ones accessed by /respec, though. Whereas I seem to be able to go see Jack Wolfe (?) in Atlas City Hall and respec again when I run out. What's the story on those?
  5. Kahzi

    pet problems

    But have you tried a mastermind? It really does feel like a team; I love "soloing" with my mm.

    Hmmm, excellent question. I am guessing that premium players are allowed to play vigilantes and rogues, but not to actively change alignment.

    But that's a shot in the dark; I have no evidence whatsoever...

    Actually, the game will still let you unlock that slot. (Or would as of early October, at any rate.) If you attempt to unlock a slot for which you do not own the expansion/archetype/powerset, your server slot will be locked in, but that character will still be unplayable until you have purchased the other prerequisites.

    I don't recommend this course of action, obviously...

    I wouldn't say it in front of my daddy, and my kids had better not say it in front of me. It's still profanity.

    But then again, I'm an old soul.

    Just pay attention, because if you Google "paragon wiki", you will get not only this (very good) site, but also an older, often out-of-date version with 'wikia' in the URL. Don't use that one...
  11. I'd love to see a section added for what you CAN'T do on the "other" side (e.g. rogues in paragon). The only one I know of yet is sewer missions, but if there is more...?
  12. Ooh, maybe that's the connection then - because I've been letting mine load in the background as a systray thing. I'll try manually opening the launcher and keeping it open; hubby has been doing so, so maybe that's the difference between us...
  13. Hmmm. At least on my side, it's not a matter of trying to run multiple instances at the same time; it's a matter of running multiple instances consecutively.

    My husband can open the game, play, quit to desktop, wait 12 hours, open the game again. I have to manually (through Ctrl+Alt+Del) kill the NCSoft launcher before I can launch the game again. Otherwise it simply hangs, with an un-drawn GUI.

    Interestingly, sometimes after killing the launcher, if I click the up arrow in the taskbar to show all of my system tray, I see multiple NCSoft icons, which disappear as I hover over them.
  14. Yay for more activities!

    How do you feel about newbie-ish people?
  15. I vote Demon/Time, simply because I have one and she's a ton of fun. And was able to solo double-spawn trick or treating in the teens, which I count as a big plus on survivability.

    But then again, Thermal animations are purty, and fit very well with the whole demonic hellfire concept, so either choice would probably work well.
  16. I would definitely be interested in STFRs, though, I must say. As a newish player, I am so often just... confused... until I almost hate to try to get ON a task force, because I know I'm just taking up a slot as I wander about in their wake trying to see through the flashy lights, with the wiki up on my ipod, just trying to follow the freak along...

    But that could just be me...
  17. Would it be wrong to suggest that you reroll on a different server? Yes? Okay then, how about... ummm... supergroup recruitment thread?
  18. YES! Me TOO! And it is driving me crazy!

    But I have no idea why... sorry.
  19. You do know about bodyguard mode, right? If you are in the fray with your pets, and they are set on defensive/follow, then they will automatically absorb a portion of any damage you take. My MMs find it downright difficult to die with the pets in bodyguard mode...

    Stating the obvious from another new-old player...
  20. Is there a Mastermind Monday scheduled for today, the 24th? I was thinking about transferring one over from Pinnacle to participate...

    Actually, you CAN send them a tell, and they can even respond to you in kind using /r.

    Meaning you type: /tell NewPlayer, Here's what you do...
    And they type: /r Huh? Who are you? I don't understand!

    And you carry on a conversation thusly. Of course, (1) you'll likely have to explain the /r to them, (2) if someone else is talking to them at the same time, they may find themselves unable to answer you and/or mistelling, and (3) the handy dandy backspace key does NOT use this feature to my knowledge...

    But still.
  22. Well. I probably know somewhat less than you do, but I'm going to tackle this anyway, on the basis of reading every guide I can find, and in the hopes that someone more knowledgeable can quickly tweak my answers instead of typing everything out - and then we both learn something!

    So with that massive run-on sentence behind me... Survivability and soloability, you say. I think that means you want lots of defense/resistance/regen, with a secondary focus on damage/accuracy...

    * Errors in Mids:

    Pulling up your build in Mids, the first thing I notice (after clicking on the View Active Sets button) is that you have one or more set bonuses going to waste. It looks like your hit points are capped out before the Numina's (x2) and Performance Shifter bonuses take effect. It seems to me that you could replace the third enhancement in these sets with plain IOs and end up with better stats overall. For instance, you could replace the Heal/Recharge set IO in Health with a plain Heal IO. You lose nothing (as that set bonus wasn't helping you anyway, and recharge has no meaning on an auto power), and you gain a moderate improvement to the ability (total regen goes from 687% to 689%). Plus, of course, you could respec that set IO out and sell it...... Likewise, you could get a slightly improved max endurance from your Superior Conditioning and another slight boost to regen (692%) from Fast Healing by replacing one set IO with a straight 50 IO in each ability. The only downside I see is that you don't *feel* as special looking at broken sets.

    * Hasten:

    So with that warning removed from Mids, I move on to the View Totals window... I'm a little bit confused as to why Hasten has only one slot. I thought perhaps you have global recharge bonuses, but that doesn't seem to be the case... You do appear to have quite a few attacks, so perhaps recharge times are not an issue for this toon? In which case, why take Hasten at all? Anyway, that's just something to consider. In my limited experience, I've found Hasten a great tool for upping my damage output by allowing me to use my higher-damage powers more regularly. Of course, in my case, that means avoiding Brawl, so it may be different at your level. Either way, it seems to me that you would want to either slot Hasten to use it more often (perhaps with some of the currently-wasted slots pointed out above?), or replace it with a more useful power (Leadership pool for a global defense or damage boost?) It's just a thought.

    * Defense:

    And on to your Totals... I'm not entirely sure what is reasonable to expect here, but your numbers are lower than I would have thought... It appears that you are focusing on Resistance to Smashing/Lethal damage and Defense against elemental damage types... I suppose that's reasonable, from what I've read, but while 50% resistance seems fair, the 20-30% defense numbers seem low to me. Browsing your power descriptions, it seems that your powers favor resistance while your set bonuses are weighted toward defense... And none of your powers are fully-enhanced the way your regen/hp abilities are...

    No, scratch that; defense caps are just lower. Heightened Senses is probably the only real case of that... Moving an extra slot there for another LotG enhancement... Well, it's a slight improvement, but only slight. And I believe LotG is... err... a bit expensive. (Of course, it does net you another 9% accuracy set bonus, so I'd still do it, personally, if the cash is there...) So no, I think I'm just wrong about the expected defense %s. And checking a random level 50 brute build... yeah, your numbers look fine. I just don't know what I'm talking about.

    * Misc:

    The only other thing that jumps out at me is the very low global damage boost (as compared to the 43 emp archer who I vainly tried to come up with a soloable second build for... so painful...). From the skimming I've done of brute guides, though, this is to be expected, and is made up for by your attacks and fury(?). So that is probably fine, but I do mention it for the sake of your soloability concerns. Because slow is NOT fun (see above-mentioned emp archer...).
  23. What I can't figure out is why the option exists at all. Nobody else can post on the forums!

Similarly anything that is an unlock, like a contact that appears at a specific level, or the Invention Tutorial, you can just state at the level it appears, I think. Then add a range only if you can outlevel it (some contacts I think work this way). Ones to add might be the unlockable contacts, for instance SlotMachine from level 30-34 (requires the Gang Buster badge), or Mu Drakhan.
    I would say use some special notation for "unlockables" (e.g. 7+ for IOs). If I only see one level, I'm going to think that it MUST be done AT that level or I will miss out.
