WHY THE [CENSORED] WON'T THIS [CENSORED] THING [CENSORED] ATTACK!!11!1!!! Look at keyboard, oh need to hit 2, not F1.I just tried every combination of hitting or holding down F1, 1, and 2 I can think of, and I still only ever managed to use just one inspiration at a time. How in heck do you guys manage to accidentally use every inspiration you have at once?
That is how to use up all your inspirations by hitting F1 instead of 2 when attacking. And no, I have never done it. My F1 is bound to just the accuracy inspirations, so the worst I could do is really increase my hit chance when I finally noticed what I was doing. -
I can't think of any. The best you can do is look at the description and see if it says custom characters or group. Of course, that is not always accurate, since a custom group can be made up of completely standard mobs from different standard groups.
Why don't you like the customs? I understand that people have a tendency to make them too hard, but it most authors try and avoid that. I know I worked hard getting the ones in my arcs to the same level as the regular mobs.
The only ones I really avoid are arcs for levels 1-54 when I am playing a low level alt. You can build a custom that is challenging but not too tough for a low level character, but you can't do that and make it a challenge for a high level character. -

The first is a known issue from before I16, the second is a bug introduced with I16. Getting both of them fixed would be very nice, but hasn't happened yet.
Edit: And for the first one, it only fails on timed missions, so if you remove that, it will work. You just lose any sense of urgency on the mission. -
Quote:Hmm. Let's just check that out. If I want to take Fly (and do not have the 60 month badge of course) I need to open the Flight Power Pool and take Hover, then later take Fly. Then, except for a few powersets, I will most likely also take Swift, Health, and Stamina from the Fitness PP. 5 powers, 2 Power Pools.TRAVEL CHANNEL
I will try to reiterate. You see with the uber travel powers, it counts as one power in your tray, and then you are free to fill other slots with powers of your desire that match your theme to build your dream hero. If I have to burn several power slots, to gain my comparably under powered single travel power, I am at a severe disadvantage in my overall build and representation of my dream hero, and this is exactly what often leads people to give up and not remain true to their character concept when it comes to travel powers.
If I am building a Natural hero that doesn't use Fly, I take Swift, Hurdle, Health, and Stamina, so to get my travel powers, I open 1 power pool, with 4 powers. That looks like less than 5 and 2 to me. Although to be really accurate, you don't have to take Health to get Stamina, so you could do it with just 3 powers and 1 PP.
Admittedly, you will not be able to travel as quickly with just the Fitness powers. But "you are free to fill other slots with powers of your desire that match your theme to build your dream hero."
Of course, even if I do have the 60 month badge, I still will use up 4 powers and 2 power pools. So best case non-natural is 4 powers, 2 power pools, while the worst case for natural is 4 powers, 1 power pool. No matter what, the Natural is more flexible since they have that extra power pool they can open. And a squishy that opts out of Health, since it is less useful to their smaller HP total, also has another power slot.

Check out the alternate version of the roar in-game emote. You may have to click it several times. I disagree that there are any issues at all with this and remain unwaivering in the fact that this would be an easy add with so much of it already done, relatively speaking of course. My current guess is its just not a priority, hence my open letter.

Make no mistake, Im COH all the way, not only locked in by dollars/time invested, but also by the fact its been good to me. However I am also a firm believer in capitalism and if they did 3 things right (a non-godlike travel power option, natural claws, dual pistols) and 300 things wrong, we should drop the taboos and openly discuss it in hopes that our MMO of choice continues to be the best it can be, long after the others have faded away.
Quote:Ah yes these type of mandatory responses. Okay... I actually looked hard for proper placement. The new forum here has either eliminated a suitable place to point out oversights or make such requests public, or has done a very good job of hiding it. In lieu of this I decided that Players Questions could extend to Questions/Comments/Suggestions as most decent product-centric forums allow for.
If there is a better spot I admittedly missed it and hope the administrators relocate the post.
And just so you know. The Suggestion Forum has been there for a couple of years now, long before the new forum software was in use. Nothing hidden, nothing changed. -
Crap! I missed the last one to get together with friends and this time I have a job interview at 3:00. I guess I will get to the last hour or so of it anyway.

I am always willing to shill my low level arcs.
I tried to make them a true trilogy, each part telling its own story. No EB/AVs in any of the missions. The first one has quite a few plays already, but I am always happy to hear feedback. And I know that people have successfully ran it at levels 1-5, although the last mission can be a pain that low.

Feedback welcomed in the Fighting the Future Trilogy thread. -
Quote:I did both. I went through getting some shots with just the mobs, including a battle in the final mission, then I went through with a character getting shots of her in action. (Well, sort of. She was still set as invincible. Didn't want to worry about inspirations and healing while setting up shots.) Then I went through and tried to find the best of both.Screenshot wise, I'm having similar trouble; but one thing that has made it a lil easier, is going into Test mode to take them, and activating Invuln and Invisibility.
Then you can fly/run around the map and line up shots on stationary/patrolling mobs, or even mobs fighting each other. It also keeps your char out of the shots; which (at least to me) feels a bit more professional. >.< That said it's just what I've done and I don't know 100% for sure if this is actually a good idea or not.
And I went ahead and submitted Future Skulls for Best Hero also. Worst they can do is say only one category. (Which won't upset any of us that have been asking that since they announced the contest.)

Looks like you had fun. Glad the arcs worked for a team, I try to make them for soloers and I know that can sometimes not work well for teams.
-
I am entering Future Skulls, ID 4727 - Best In-Canon Story.
The other 2 depend on it too much to enter, and my 4th is too buggy with the current spawning problems. And my others are not near being ready for publishing. -
Quote:I already stuck in my suggestion for added spawn points in the Midnighter Club, but what is really needed is to get the bugs fixed and the maps that were removed back in the MA. Specifically the Crey Revenant Hero Clone Lab and the Burning Forest. I don't use either in any of my arcs so far, but I know people that do, and ran arcs that did before they were removed. They are 2 really great atmospheric maps and need to be fixed and returned.Hey everyone,
There are some great proposals in this thread and I just wanted to chime in here to help guide the future suggestions.
Please keep try to keep suggestions focused on maps that are currently in the game but not in Architect. A good example of what I'm looking for is Lord Mayhem's write up for the SERAPH lab map. It's also very helpful on my end if you can specify what mission you found it in, as it can help me track it down easier. -
Made a variety of changes to Future Skulls based on the review by Eva Destruction, including making the 2nd mission top at 14. Prior to I16 I never noticed a problem when exemping on my higher levels and it has no effect on low levels, but it does look better to be consistent.
Also added some text in various places to try and answer some of the very good questions she brought up. I hope I succeeded, since the last change I made to the arc was setting it to Final so I can enter it in the Contest. I just need to figure out which category to try for. -
Worst part is, it has been gone for at least 3 or 4 months. Which means no one has been able to run your arc during that time. Unfortunately, you need to check your arcs after every major patch, to be sure something hasn't broken or a map hasn't been changed.
-
I understand it isn't exactly what you want. But it is an option to use until we convince them to add in the abilities you want. And can't you set a clue to be given on hostage rescue?
-
Can you make a Rescue Objective spawn on a glowie? No guards, so he completes on spawn, and his rescue text is the information you want him to give? It might take some fine tuning to get the spawning location correct, and of course sometimes it would spawn in the completely wrong place, but I think you could get it to work most of the time with a decent map.

Quote:That was a Coralax boss at the end of the mission. No recoloring or anything, just a standard Coral Sentinel. Typically used as guardians, so it fit fight in the mission with no changes. (I suppose it could actually be a recolored Igneous, but if it is, the Devs did it, not me.The placed boss, recolored Igneous or whatever it was. It's distinct from the Coralax throughout the mission, and they don't appear blueside at all so your character probably has no idea what it is, so it would seem like something you should make Mirror Spirit aware of.
) And I assumed that it was mentioned to Mirror Spirit, thus her referencing a Guardian spell. If the player knows what they are, it fits the creatures, and if not, it can help explain the presence in the mission.
Quote:And rightly so. The problem with leaving them out is the way it was done; if it was "the Skulls are still weak, you can take them" it would have been fine, but it's implied that they're not weak, they've taken out the A list and it's up to the D-listers like you to stop them. It doesn't help that the last mission is set in an area you have no business being in at your level, although I understand it's hard to find an appropriately moody map. -
Quote:Duh. I created the arc when the MA went live and in all the time since, I have never noticed the extra level there.Future Skulls

Mostly level 1-14, Mission 2 is 1-15, like that one scratch on your brand new coffee table that looks so ugly but to get rid of it you'd have to sand the whole thing down and refinish it....or just manually set the mission to cap out at 14.
Quote:I think the next time I see a leather-bound book in a death-obsessed gang's hideout, I am NOT going to fondle it to see if the leather feels "like no kind of leather I'm familiar with." It's made out of people. They're all made out of people. I already know this before I even pick the thing up so I'm gonna keep my gloves on so as not to leave fingerprints on the evidence.
Quote:Also not sure why I don't tell her about the not-Coralax I fought.
Quote:Huh? So it was a dream? Why wasn't I told it would just be a dream, that would have made me feel better about going in...
Quote:So now Mirror Spirit and her friends can find the ritual, so I can go stop it. Because they can't. Everyone else is inconvenienced or dead, and it's up to little ole me to save the world. Again, check for red shirt. Nope, all good. Ok. I'll go save the world. I find it somewhat convenient from a story perspective that all the big bad heroes are out of action, leaving the big heroics up to the lowbie.
Quote:Overall, the plot was appropriately Skullish, and it started out appropriately lowbieish, but then toward the end got a little too epic too fast. The explanation for why I personally had to go stop the Skulls from destroying the world at level 8 was rather contrived. However, despite being part of a trilogy this arc did have a conclusion, albeit with a "....for now" leaving it open for the sequel.
Looking forward to reading your reaction to both. -
Quote:That is what is frustrating. I tested it with a level 30 and a level 50 after I16 came out, because I know about the bug that Eva mentioned and I didn't want to start getting reviews or promoting it if it was affected. And it worked fine for both characters. It just waited until the reviewer got there.Well, it may not be a bug in the arc. This is the second mission in a row it's happened for me with. It may be something that's come in with I16. The controller was level 38.
-
I believe that ticket caps are per map. Smaller maps, smaller caps. Could that be it?
-
Yeah, but I didn't have any greys showing up either, until Glazius did his run. Despite testing with characters at both ends of the level range. I am afraid it is a random bug that will take forever to fix.
I will give that a try when I work on the arc next. Unfortunately, RL and inspiration on another arc will probably push it back a bit. -
-
Quote:Well, I did say up front it was an origin arc.I look up my buddy, who has a suspiciously similar build to my contact... and for some reason this mission seems awfully familiar despite its ID number in the 300,000s.
The original version is up on Test, it was one I did during closed for I14, so maybe you saw it there? I have cleaned it up and made some changes, both before and after I moved it to live, but they were nothing major, and the story didn't really change.
The messed up levels on the mobs are frustrating. I ran it a couple of times since I16, and the spawns worked okay, except the standard mobs in my custom group didn't show. They worked okay when using just Crey, but not in Crey Security. And they all had the correct levels. I checked it on a couple of different alts, to make sure it was working okay and it did for me.So of course it didn't for you.
The custom minions were originally to cover the gap of the last 5 levels, which is nothing but the power armors, and to add something extra to the Security division on the lower levels. Then I had to cut the last 5 levels anyway, because I use regular Crey in a couple of places and tanks would spawn there, which didn't fit the story.
Quote:One patrol on the top floor talks about Hopkins, one about Samuels, and it sounds from Samuels' description like he's the big cheese of Crey Security at the present time. Incomplete revision?
Quote:Detail - ****. The Rikti need to talk less like a corrupted database entry. Line-art unicode starts around 0x2500, so find some of that and airlift it in. Also, the custom Crey need a little more in the way of descriptions. They get the point across, but I'm really curious why Crey moved away from these models and into the tank paradigm.
And who says Crey moved away from the powered Crey? The Revenant Hero Project had to have an inspiration and starting point somewhere.
I will work on the story more, so at least I can improve that. But the screwed up spawns are very annoying. Hard to get motivated to fixing what I can when what I can't pretty much destroys the arc.
Thanks for taking the time to play and review the arc. Especially with the way it is messed up. -
Quote:Hmm, let's see, 3 people talking about my arcs, saying they are really good and people should play them? No, I don't think I am going to mind that too much.Well, it's good to hear that there's going to be more with those guys, as you heard, we really got to enjoy fighting them. I hope you didn't mind us using your arcs as filler when the submissions got scarce.

Quote:Congrats on making it back. But you made me sad. The system that died is at least 1 generation more recent than my current system. 64 bit CPUs were cutting edge when I got this and my AGP card is long past being supported by ATI. Worst part is, if this thing dies, it will be much longer than a month to get back.My PC died about a month ago. PSU went, and decided to take the Motherboard with it. Goodbye to the old faithful Asus SK8V/Athlon64 FX-53 system that's served me well over the last 5 years

Quote:And usually if it is true for a map, the reverse is also true, middle will put them in the back. The only way to know for certain is to test object (and boss encounter!) placement. The boss encounters can also be messed up that way, although it seems to be less common than the object placement, and it is entirely separate from the object placement problem.
The most effective way to deal with the problem is test both placements multiple times, and don't use the random map selection. If you do, someone will get a map that messes up the spawns, it will mess up your story, and they will rate you low for it.
