Quote:The game doesn't force this enough. Scrappers and Brutes have way more survivability than they need and are over protected while on a team due to buffs and what not. Solo or on teams, they experience little downside for having less survivability than a Tanker, and as long as Tankers are forced to trade significant damage for increased survivability they don't need, I say that's a problem. From what I see in my short time playing this game, a lot of brutes have the tendancy to bite off more than they can sometimes chew in the name of fury.
People have said in the past all that means is that we need harder content. This line of thinking is bogus. We got "harder content" and all it did was make the double standard more prominent. Tin Mage and Apex are harder. The I-trials are harder.
But...
Battle Maiden's sword bombs will surely kill a Tanker as quick as a Scrapper or Brute. Angry Boobcat will easily tear up all three, but all three can be buffed and healed to stand up to her. Tankers still deal mediocre damage in both situations.
The Keyes pulse doesn't hit Tankers for significantly less, and most of the other special mechanics on this trial circumvent the superior survivability numbers Tankers get, essentially treating all the melee ATs equally, but Tankers still deal the least damage the whole time despite this.
The bottom line: Brute and Scrapper survivability is way up in all content thanks to the Incarnate system and I don't see a suitable reciprocated increase in Tanker damage, thanks to among other factors, a crappy damage cap. The "harder content" doesn't favor Tanker survivability over any other melee AT's survivability very much at all; if it's gonna kill a Scrapper or Brute, it'll kill a Tanker, and it wont kill any of the three when they're buried in team buffs. Yet the whole time, Tankers still have to suffer significantly inferior standing damage and caps to pay for more out-of-the-box survivability that seems less and less relevant when everyone's got Barrier Destiny these days.

Friggin' EVERYONE is an Incarnate nowadays.

The devs have said this will remain as an accessible "Echo" from Ouroboros.
Will villains be able to access it now too? Would be cool if they could.

Bill, if you want a SR with a taunt aura all you have to do is trade...um... around 40% damage for it.
By rolling a SR Tanker when they arrive.
'Cause you know, Tankers have been trading damage for aggro capability since forever.
A fair and worthwhile trade, yes I know.

Tankers: Tractor. A piece of equipment suited only for moving slowly back and forth across a farm. No one wants to show up to the prom driving a tractor.
Brute: Usurper. Stole the mechanic intended for Tankers and occupies the space as heavy hitter that Tankers should.
Scrapper: Game Breaker. Is allowed to be through sheer popularity, having the right people in high places looking out for him and countless Wolverine and Batman fans.
Stalker: The invisible. In more ways than one. Like Tankers, this melee AT was pushed to the fringes due to overspecialization. Although these days his numbers have improved, his reputation hasn't.
Mastermind: The 'I' in team. Would rather be playing an RTS. Playing can be sweet as honey or bitter as soot.
Blaster: The greatest bullfighter in Alaska.
Controller: The ugly duckling. One day he becomes a swan.
Defender: The needy. Desperately wants to please everyone so people will like him because he's not very good on his own.
Corruptor: The cool cousin. Of the Defender. He's actually a bit of a DB but at least he's not so needy.
Dominator: The nonplussed. The cool kids told him they'd let him hang out with them if he got some more damage. He saved his allowance for a year and bought some. The cool kids laughed and told him these days they want stacking team buffs.

Quote:Right, but a lot of Tanker attacks sets don't get their big end sucking attacks until 20+. Even then, it's mostly their AoEs chewing end, which is part of why I asked before how many he was going up against.Just a guess .. but .. Because you had to wait till level 20
So .. you couldnt have it till then. And you had to squeeze 2 OTHER powers you didnt need in before 20.

Quote:A silly notion. They have en entire power set of melee attacks. That's like saying Controllers aren't supposed to buff. By the same logic, Scrappers shouldn't be able to survive anything, because that's not their primary.
Bruising wasn't ever needed for tanks. They were never supposed to be damage dealers.
And "never supposed to" is something I'm pretty sure even Arcana has admitted is false given the sordid origin of the ATs. Do I really need to dig up the Emmert quote that they were supposed to be devastating and powerful and recount the history of Fury?
Quote:Regardless, it does decrease the time it takes to defeat the enemies that have it on them thus speeding up soloing. A happy little side effect to an unnecessary change. Inherent fitness is playing a much larger role than bruising, however, when it comes to being able to tolerate soloing them for me.
Personally, the biggest improvement in my Tankers have gotten from inherent fitness has been the combat mobility increase from having both Swift and Hurdle. It makes the game feel less lethargic and I notice the movement suppression less.
. -
Quote:How are you soloing? Because Bruising really doesn't help AoE damage any. So are you just soloing at X1?They just aren't geared for soloing. Or at least... weren't. With bruising and inherent fitness, I'm finding my new DA/SM tank to be not that bad.
Also, I remember people vehemently objecting to any offensive improvement to Tankers, even ones that would have had less impact than Bruising. Funny how things change.

Quote:Yeah, if they had a low or mid level mission where players recover the remains, replace them with fakes and turn them over to Arachnos, that would resolve the discrepancy.Ghost Widow's remains are part of Scirocco's betrayal arc, where it is said that they are kept by Arachnos to ensure they are not used against her. There's either a Critical Research Failure or They Just Didn't Care moment in the works, but either way it would appear that whatever is stashed in Galaxy City isn't really her remains.
Of course, the MAGI vault is in Galaxy City. Perhaps we'll be lucky and the guy who is actually responsible for it will have let everything get stolen before the zone goes pear-shaped.
Of course, for new players who've only ever known Galaxy as a tutorial, there's no discrepancy because they've never seen the bones there.

This is a long thread. Apologies if this is ground that has already been gone over.
I have a question that cuts to the very heart of what I see as wrong about the way the Incarnate system, and many MMOs, operate.
"Why not just give a solo path that is just as fast?"
The knee-jerk response to that is predictable.
"If they did, everyone would do that path and not team."
That answer should raise a gigantic red flag.
If we have to twist peoples' arms to make them team, maybe team-based content isn't what people actually want.
See, I can appreciate that some people enjoy teaming and some people enjoy soloing. But the fact of the matter is, the people who don't enjoy teaming are forced to team, essentially so that the people who do enjoy teaming have someone to team with. And they don't much care if their teammates want to be there or not. I find something deeply wrong about that. It rings like exploitation to me.
Some might say "You want to solo, don't play a MMO. Go play a single player game."
OK. Think about that. Everyone who likes to solo quits. That takes them out of the pool of people available to team. How is that any different than if you gave them their own solo tract?
The truth is this: Even people who love to solo, team occasionally, even regularly. Giving everyone the equal option to do so, and not feel like they're getting screwed by their preference, is what's best for everyone.

Quote:I'm not thinking it would have any control over her, but magically empowered remains animated by a Shivan could have unexpected results.Yet Ghost Widow is still around. Honestly if the remains had some kind of control or influence over Ghost Widow then MAGI would have used it along time ago. In Seer Marino's arc GW explains that she is anchored to the Arachnos Organization itself and can't be destroyed unless Arachnos itself was destroyed. So I really don't think her bones have any kind of power. I'd say that if a Shivian bound itself to her remains it would be like the ones found in Bloody Bay.
Also, I'm not sure she or Scirocco would be cool with her bones walking around as part of a Shivan. So now that they're out of MAGI custody there could be new mission to Galaxy to retrieve them.
. -
I just thought of something.
Shivans have a penchant for animating the matter they come into contact with.
In the Galaxy City tutorial screen shots, they appear to me made of rubble and such.
In Bloody Bay that was human remains and nuclear fallout.
Anyone remember who's remains are currently being stored in Galaxy's MAGI offices?

Quote:As long as you're not being sent against grays, or an enemy group the zone only spawns a few of, like Carnies, I don't have any problem with that.BAB should have all the random hunting missions in his TF. He's not looking for information, he just wants you to run around busting heads.
The problems is most hunts do that. And they're also obviously overused as padding in a TF.
As an aside, there should be occasions to street sweep. Most of the zones are wasted space between mission doors filled with enemies not worth fighting. There's something wrong in my mind about a "hero" being too good to bother stopping a purse snatching, and not getting any kudos if he did.
Kind of makes me wish ALL enemies in the game used the GM code.

Quote:OK, here's the thing:He could also replace Jack Wolfe if Jack was killed when the Freedom Corps building was destroyed.
Is the FC building the Phalanx's current HQ or not? Twice in the comics, a similar looking building was suggested to be.
Their previous HQ was destroyed in Boomtown. They're not having good luck with that.
If they were based out of the Freedom Corps building, that could explain why they're all in Fort Trident now, and why the Phalanx aren't being very effective from levels 1-50; they're still regrouping from Galaxy.
If not, maybe the FC building has been incorporated into Atlas's redesign. Because it always bothered me anyone can walk into Recluse's boardroom, but we never see the Freedom Phalanx's HQ. Or Manticore's mansion. Or Statesman's restaurant, which supposedly still exists.

Is there anything that says he's not the voice on the other end of this radio?
As for Isolator/Jailbird, I heard that the two badges will be two zero-cost items to buy at the new in-game store as part of teaching people how to use the store and bringing it to their attention.
