There are Supergroups which are like guilds.
The best way to meet people is to team with others. Look for teams running looking for members. Don't be discouraged if you get a bad team, it happens.
Depending on what server you play on, you can join popular global chat channels for that server in game. You may want to go to the sub-forum here for your chosen server and introduce yourself and ask about what global channels are on that server.

Quote:It has been inferred that drinking from the Well affects you physically, and that is in part based on the person's metal state. Recluse doubled in size, gained spider-legs and a deformed face. Somewhere between the 1930s and 1980s, Statesman went from an athletic build to a body builder physique much as he grew into his role as the premier hero. Reichsman has slightly different powers than his Primal counterpart and a much more aggressive personality. It's not a stretch to suggest his personality influenced his transformation differently and he became a bit bigger; all the better to intimidate his subordinates.Reichsman is taller than Statesman. Both are supposed to be Marcus Cole. I haven't compared Emperor Cole yet, but he doesn't appear to exceed States in height.

Ion has the greatest potential number of targets to hit over the greatest area it can affect due to the chaining mechanic. The Radial tract and has a chance to Hold and end drain. This is your go-to for thinning large crowds quickly.
Pyronic excels at doing damage to tightly clustered enemies. The Radial tract has a chance to Stun. The Core tract can cause a Superior DoT afterburn. This is the Judgement you want for targeting an AV and dealing heavy damage to them and those around them.
Void is PBAoE. The Negative Energy damage is attractive and often less resisted and the Radial tract causes a damage debuff to the enemies it doesn't kill.
Cryonic is a cone and deals Cold damage. The Radial tract slows and has a chance to hold enemies. Because of the issues people have with cones, it's generally regarded as the least attractive Judgement

Quote:I presume it does because it works in conjunction with Fly, not in place of it.Does Afterburner suffer from travel suppression? If not then it might be a very good power for a few people. Generally tho I agree I'm unsure about whether an Only Effect Self effect is a good idea.
. -
Quote:Also, I want to add, they don't seem balanced between themselves for that matter.-The new powers in the travel pool are neat and all, but a lot of them are novelties and, AFAIK, the changes to the pool restrictions don't free up any power picks to allow me to take them so sadly I probably never will.
-Afterburner provides a measly increase of 13 MPH to the already slowest travel power while disabling your ability to attack. Yes it provides some Defense, but's that pointless with an Affect Self Only being enforced.
-Zone Teleport seems kind of useless. The changes made to the train stations and helicopters aside, with Ouroboros access being lowered, you can use that to travel to most of the zones in the game already, and if you're at 50 and know where Contacts are located, you can travel to the specific area of the zone you want.
These powers are both extreme novelties in my opinion and I don't think they stack up to, for example, an extra AoE attack like Leaping is getting.
If it were up to me, I'd create three more thematic AoE attacks for the Fly, TP and Speed pools, create a "novelty" power for Leaping, and demote all four novelty powers down to Tier 1, because they're just not worth prerequisites or busting a build to get.

Quote:No, what I'm suggesting is that there are far more interesting and practical uses of the art team's time than recreating already existing assets for purely aesthetic reasons.I find this to be a profoundly disappointing position to take, Johnny. You're essentially suggesting that we don't bother doing anything interesting with the old game until the new game comes out
Quote:I firmly believe that we should focus on making THIS game great first and foremost, and if another one comes out, we'll worry about it then.
Quote:Personally, I don't want a City of Heroes 2.
Also speaking of common sense, why remake every costume piece and zone in the game when you could be making a whole new game with a better engine that would look even better; you'd have to remake them anyways. It just doesn't track with me.
Quote:It'd be like going from City of Heroes to Champions Online - better graphics, more customizable characters, complete lack of costumes and content. No, thank you.
Quote:What I want right now is to make City of Heroes: Freedom the best game it can be, regardless of what sequels it may or may not get. Because I think the game has the potential for it, and because I feel the game deserves it.

Quote:I know enough about it to know that I am not happy with it because a +Res proc is not something I want in a Tanker IO set.Johnny, unless you know more about the proc than I do, you don't know enough to criticize it yet.
Which is all that my post says.
I leave it up to the individual to decide if a set is "good" or "bad".
"I do not like ice cream" is not the same as "Ice cream is crap".
Having said that, all my points stand:
Out of all the AT sets seen so far, Tankers have been singled out to not get a proc that improves damage when other 'non-damage' ATs got one, even the other 'Tank' AT which got an especially potent (IMO) boost.
. -
I've already started a thread about this in the Tanker forums, but I want to reiterate here.
I'm really unhappy about the Tanker proc.
All the other AT's sets seen have procs that increase their damage output.
Even Controllers, who aren't even a 'damage dealing' AT get a damage proc.
Brutes, despite the fact they're now grouped as a 'Tank' AT with Tankers, specifically have one that globally increases their Fury. That's huge.
So why are Tankers stuck with a stupid +Res proc?
Again I'd like to suggest something else for the Might of the Tanker proc.
-A decent chance for a modest Resistance debuff to enemies.
-A proc that causes subsequent attacks to do mini-Criticals for a period of time.
-A proc that causes damage against the Tanker to be reflected back against the enemy for a short time when it goes off.
-A proc that does extreme damage, but has a lower chance to go off (10-15%).

Quote:I have a lot of conflicting feelings on this subject.I just want to chime in on the hands issue - it might seem trivial, but given that about the only thing that is on our screen 100% of the time is our character, it's important. The hands thing in particular is the most visible aspect at the moment, but the whole model is just as important.
The hand thing in particular bugs me a lot, though. Of all my male (non-huge) characters, exactly zero have just the basic 'smooth/bare' style gloves on bare arms, because of how ugly they are. Every last one has some alternate glove model or long sleeve in an attempt to disguise or distract attention from just how ridiculous looking those huge mittens are. Seriously, why are my character's fists 3/4ths the size of their heads?
As much as I want fingers, I would not want them to put a bunch of work in at this point just to have fingers. There are many aspects of the player models that are outdated, and as much as they could stand to be updated at this point, I question the wisdom in doing so.
You can spend resources re-doing a bunch of already existing assets, or you can make new assets.
I see this as a fundamentally different argument than 'updating' a zone versus making new zones. Zones that have been 'updated' like Faultline and the RWZ still come with content that wasn't there before. Remastering costume parts is purely aesthetic.
We're already in a situation where zones and costume parts are mismatched with older and newer levels of quality. It's really a problem that doesn't go away until EVERYTHING has been updated, but that's like chasing a rainbow; you'll never catch it.
I make no secret my desire for CoH 2. Something like that is where I expect and want improvements in graphics and character creation to be made. If you look at where the state of the art is, it would be something like the APB character creator. In many ways it puts ours to shame. I want CoH's creator to be that good; it's always been one of this game's strong points and we deserve the best.
But you can't have characters that look that good in this game at this point because it's just not feasible and the rest of this game doesn't look that good. If you can't aim for that, I don't see the point in investing heavily in revamping aging character models and assets.
What it all comes back to is that this game is aging and rather than slapping yet another new paint job on a rusting jalopy, the devs should focus on keeping it running, putting enough bobble-heads on the dashboard to distract from the seats starting to crack until they're ready to get a new car.
Until the devs are ready to roll on CoH 2 (which likely may never happen), I'd rather they focus on the practical. No matter how much sparkle you put on Atlas Park, you're not fooling anyone that this isn't a 7+ year old title.
Having said that, I makes me sad to see the great work the art team puts in because it'll just never be enough to catch that rainbow.

The fact that it is Account Bound strongly suggests it's going to be purchasable from the store only.

Well, I think the majority here agrees the set could use some reworking. Now if the devs see this feedback and are able to do anything about it is another thing.

Quote:I think the idea behind it is that Sleeps don't usually work that well on teams or with pets. You put a bunch of enemies to sleep and immediately a pet/teammate wakes them all up again. With the placate proc, when they do wake up, there's a chance they wont attack you.Does this mean if Im taking aggro it will take aggro off of me if I put them to sleep? Because does a sleep not already sort of do that?

Quote:Not I, but I noticed something. In the other AT sets, their procs describe themselves as "chance to go off approximately X times per minute".Not very exciting. Anyone know the full details of the Chance of +Res?
In game Live, all procs say things like "20% chance" or "15% chance".

A number of the AT sets were spotted, not all.

If you may or may not have heard, AT-specific IO sets are on the way and were seen at SDCC.
This is the one seen for Tankers.
Based on the info at hand, I give the set a big thumbs down.
The presumed stats and set bonuses are good, perhaps not the 5th and 6th bonuses; small Resistance buffs don't really have a good opportunity to stack with other such bonuses and aren't usually sought out, but the other AT specific sets have similar bonuses.
What I take issue with is the set's proc.
A chance for + Res isn't something I would seek out or want in such a set.
-My high end Tankers don't need such a proc, they survive just fine thanks.
-I expect these IO sets to appeal more to high end builds than your average guy who doesn't really IO out his characters, based on the fact you'll probably have to drop points on them in the store, something most will save for only their main/important characters.
-Of all the sets and procs seen, Tankers are the ONLY one that doesn't get one that improves their damage/offense. This includes other 'non-damage dealing' role ATs like Controllers and ATs like Dominators who's attack power set is their secondary, just like Tankers. Why didn't they give Controllers and Doms a Hold proc? Why are Tankers singled out in such a way? Under the new role definitions, Brutes are grouped as "tanks", yet they get an IO that enhances Fury instead of one that buffs their Defense or causes a -ToHit on enemies.
I don't think this was fair to Tankers and I am very disappointed in Might of the Tanker because of it.
What would I like to see instead of the +Res proc?
Something that would similarly improve Tanker offense the way the procs do for the other ATs' sets I've seen.
-A decent chance for a modest Resistance debuff to enemies, maybe.
-A proc that causes subsequent attacks to do mini-Criticals for a period of time.
-A proc that causes damage against the Tanker to be reflected back against the enemy for a short time when it goes off.
-A proc that Level Shifts the Tanker up shortly (doubtful it'd ever happen).
I have no doubt others will disagree with my feelings on this proc and the set, but I wanted to express them and make them known to the devs in a constructive manner in the hopes something could be done.

Looking at Street Justice, but I'm not sold until I see it in action.
Incidentally, I hope the Test server can be used to...well...TEST stuff before we buy it for real on Live.
Then I'll be looking at the AT-specific IO sets.
The Tanker one is devastatingly disappointing to the point I'm a little offended by it.
The others are look like must haves, especially the Brute set.
Then I'll check out IO Boosters, provided they work as well as I hope.
Beyond that, I'll have to see what else is in the store.

Quote:Negative on Interface. None of the Alpha boosts affect Interface. Design limitation.Musculature: Makes Justice nuke hit harder. Also, pretty sure Interface damage portion, too. Oh, and Lore pets, too.
As for what boost to roll with:
Musculature + 2xRage + Assault puts you very close to Tanker damage cap depending on your slotting.
But for pure personal damage per second output, Spiritual + Ageless combo will have you dropping KO Blow and Foot Stomp much more often, and is more than a trade off for not running Musculature. Pop a red and you're pretty much back to what Musculature would have gotten you per activation.
But the fact is, Musculature does buff Lore Pets and Judgement, so there's that to consider.
The bottom line is, even for pursuing something as obvious as more damage, there's several options and different ways to go about doing it.
-On my Inv/SS, I tend to run Musculature as my go to boost for things like my daily Tips and kicking about.
-When teamed, I go Spiritual, especially if my teammates offer any kind of +damage team buffs.
-When attempting to solo an AV on my own steam, I also go Spiritual.
-When dropping an AV using Lore, Musculature is the way to go.

Quote:IIRC, Massively.com spilled the beans on Titan weapons mistakenly thinking they were part of i21, which they were given the go-ahead to talk about. The devs later confirmed the set the following Ustream chat.I believe that Titan Weapons was accidentally leaked from a magazine online, if I remember correctly, as for the I21 stuff yeah pretty much the Ustream chats, magazines and the SDCC.
Besides the official releases and mistakes/early unveilings, there's also been some leaks going around by people in the beta of stuff that's decidedly further down the line. One such being another long-requested weapon set, the naming of which tends to get modded.

Ok, I just have to say something to no individuals in particular:
I haven't been invited to a closed beta for a long time. I presume it's because I'm not "on message" enough and the devs don't care for me.
That's OK, I understand that and accept it; they can run their beta however they please.
But when I see the people who they DO let into beta, people who in the past pretty much got away with slinging crap at me constantly and calling me a horrible person, brazenly and stupidly LEAK BETA CONTENT onto the INTERNET, it makes me a little mad.
Regardless of the fact nobody likes me, that's why I sleep fine at night even if I don't get beta invites; because if you get what you deserve, neither will you from now on.

I'm frustrated by the new travel powers because while some are nice, they're not nice enough to tear my builds apart trying to fit in.
If I want Afterburner, I've got no power picks and nothing I would reasonably give up just for 12 more MPH added to flight, which is a little low when you think about it.
I would drop Hover because I only took it to get Fly, and I don't have to now. But I need Hover to get Afterburner.
It's not a fun conundrum, and I resent the devs a little for adding these powers the way they have, as opposed to putting them on a lower tier or making them as recipes to get with merits or Astrals or such. IMO, useless top tier powers that you didn't want was a better situation than slightly attractive top tiers that you can't take.
