As has been said, killing stuff is the key. Since the drop rate is the same whether the enemy is -1 or +5 (as long as it's high enough to drop a purple), your best bet is to set yourself do difficulty 2 - that gets you more things to kill, and at the lowest level available to you, meaning more kills faster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, Just want to make sure I understand.

    1) I can only get a purple when I'm 50. = TRUE.

    2) If I kill ANYTHING in PvE that is level 49 to 55, then there is a chance at a purple drop AND the drop rate is the same reguardless of the level of the mob.= TRUE.

    3) No purple drops in Architect. = TRUE

One more follow-up question...Does anyone have any idea of the actual prup drop rate %? I've heard someone say that they get a purp about 1 out of 80 PvP kills. Which would be 1.3%. I imagine the % in PvE would be smaller.
  2. Soon, my main will be 50. (Sig is a bit iout of date). And I'd like to use him to raise inf for a SoA.

While farming funds and such for my SoA, I'd like to kill 2-birds with one stone by also having a decent chance for a purple drop here and there.

Are there any ideal reccomendations for a soloer to maximize chance to get purple drops?

  4. I would break it down like this.

Ice/Dark Great solo, good on teams.
Fire/Dark Good Solo, great on teams.

I like utilty, which would lean me more toward the Ice/dark if i had nothing else to choose from.

    LoTGs for sale

    [ QUOTE ]
Hey guys....hoping this is the right forum. Anywho I've come across some LoTGs from the merit vendors and I was intending on posting them on the BM but I decided to announce on this forum if anyone would like to purchase them directly. 80 Mil each, they're the Recharge ones you get from the merit vendor. I can meet you anywhere red side in Virtue

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm. So someone who registered on the forums YESTERDAY, wants to make an expensive trade outside of the market system.

That sounds like a great deal to me.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I've played redside almost exclusively for the past three years or so now. However, my server, Champion, is / was in desperate need of bubblers for Rikti mothership raids, so I gritted my teeth, and made a new Force Field / Dark Blast Defender.

I can't wait until Going Rogue. I started off in Galaxy City, 'cause lol, Atlas Park. My first contact pitted me against the evil forces of Vahzilok. A lone Force Field / Dark Blast Defender against Abominations, Reapers, and Mortificaters. Not a pretty sight.

Having managed to slog my way through that, I did some radio missions in Kings Row. Wow, they finally added stores there!

Then came the Positron Task Force. "Hey guys, come to Steel to meet me and start my TF!" "Okay, great, we're here in Steel." "Okay, good. Now, go to Skyway." Huff, huff, huff. "Okay, we're done in Skyway." "Great! Now come back to Steel!" Huff, huff, huff. "Okay, we're here." "Cool. Now go beat up these guys in Skyway!" "Again? Okay." Huff, huff, huff. "Vahzilok are terminated, sir." "Good job, guys. Now, head off to Perez Park." And so on, and so forth...

After all that running around, I decided to cool my heels and do some AE missions in Atlas Park. Yes, I know, I'm dirty.

Then, out of sheer and utter boredom, I decided to organize a Citadel TF. "Okay guys, I'm here in Talos, right next to the tram. Come to meet me for some great missions." "Okay, we're here." "Great, now go all the way to the southern end of Independence Port, and beat up some Council." Huff, huff, huff. Finished, and ran all 1.5 km back to Citadel. "Good job, guys! Now, go back and beat up some more Council!" "Wait, this is the same spot we were just at. You mean I have to run another 1.5 km back to where we just were?" "Yep." "$@*(!"

Last night, I ran a mission to unlock the Science Enhancement store in Brickstown, which is a frakking maze of a zone.

Why do people still play blueside again?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This why I stuck with my Villain and why I have so many heroes stuck at 8ish.

All that running around really irritates me.
  7. When you say "slow reaction time" are you saying that you'd like a build that didn't require alot of clicking and quick decision making?

If that case, I'd say scrapper is your best bet. Alot of other builds like controllers and defenders can require you to make alot of quick decisions as to what to do next in given situations.

FF defenders for example...You gotta keep the shileds on everyone every four minutes. Personally, I think that require a good amount of attention and clicking. Especially on large teams. And don't forget about blasting inbetween bubble buffs.

If you have slow reaction times, I would venture to say that the worst build you could pick would be a support toon. Many scrappers have "fire and foget" secondaires. Once you turn on those defenses you just [target nearest] 1-2-3-4 repeat.
  8. Vista is buggy enough with just a mouse and keyboard.
  9. I agree with most of th eother posters. Have each person go with what sounds fun to them.

Three of anything will pretty much steam roll 99% of the game.

Sue you could go with an "Ideal" combo. However ideal combos come at a price that includes using "cookie cutter builds" and ""Strict attack/defense procedures"

Thats stuff is boring as hell in my opinion.

One poster mentioned to stay away from AR/Dev....I disagree. I think three AR/Devs would be aweseome fun. There would be all kinds of stratgys you'd have to work through.
  10. You should give the extra XP back. Farmer.

    Badge checkist

I remember seeing a MS Excel badge checklist posted somewhre. I can't find it on the wiki or in searches.

    Did I imagine this?
  12. I agree with most of you on this.

    Nice thread.

Purist - Definition: A CoX player who gets all secondary and primary powers, along with two powers from a travel pool and four APP/PPP's.

I just have a thing for a full set. Is this bad idea? Both in general, and on an Elec/Dev/MM blaster?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Generally no. BUt for some builds yes. Either way however, be sure to have your planned build posted and approved by the forum authorities. Playing the game with a non-approved build will result in ridicule and fingerpointing in-game.
  14. That was mine. I mistyped it. I meant to list it at 5,500,000.

Please meet me in game to refund me. Thanks
  15. Another big money maker for me recently is something NO ONE is doing.

At the top of the play screen is some text labeled "Contacts"
    Click this.

The contacts give you "missions". When doing these game missions, as they are called, you actually get randomly awarded these things called "salvage drops."

This salvage can, bear with me here this is complex, "Posted and sold at Whentworths and the Black Market." You can actually make really good inf doing this.

But be mindful, it's pretty lucrative. I'm expecting the devs to nerf this exploit pretty soon.

    Assault Rifle

I like AR simply because I perfer natural themed toons. For some reason, the flashy/posey stuff gets old to me.

I have an AR/Trap that I've been pretty happy with. You become a real minon killler once you get web envelope. Web Envelop-Full Auto-Flamethrower--Can be pretty impressive. They both recharge pretty fast, particularly after they are slotted up. They also do not use much endurance in my opinon.

Ignite can be used as an AV eater if you have someone on the team that can keep the AV from moving out of the ignite patch. If that AV stays in the patch, they will not be lasting very long. Of course, web grenade-ignite arrests most yellow minions and below with one application.

Early levels may be tough with just two mediocre single target attacks. Having a vet power will help alot.

All that said...Any secondary will go with it. It just depend on how important synergy is to you. Surprisingly, traps offers the worst synergy with AR overall. But even that it is still quite manageable. As much as everyone complains about it (including myself) it really isn't that bad.

Fact is, the best secondary is the one you will stick with. Pick the secondary that you want. Whatever you choose will work fine.
  17. PvP will stay dead as long as no one is feeling rewarded for PvPing.

I don' t PvP simply cause Id rather be getting XP, getting IOs or making inf. This is why we keep paying to play this game. PvP does not offer ANY of these rewards.

    Faction is Dead!

    [ QUOTE ]
This thread is one of the saddest things I have seen on this board in many a long day. A two-page fight over someone's favorite word. Sheesh.

The word "faction" is appropriate when referring to the two sides of this game. If some Grammar Nazi wants to have a conniption fit if I say "faction" instead of their pet preference "alignment," have at it, I say. It won't be changing what I say/type by one iota.

LOL at the mere idea that anyone is going to "learn something" when people post this kind of rant-thread. Yeah, we'll "learn" all right; perhaps not the things the Grammar Nazis intended, but we'll do some "learning." Yessirree. Forgive me, Grammar nazis when I say, "epic phail."

    OR DON'T. *shrug*

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, if you got two peoples that disagree about the definition of a word, would that make them different factions? Or are they of opposite alignments?

    This stuff is hard.
  21. AI Revamp. Make enemies smarter.

•No more of this silly, Blow up mob 1 with mob 2 standing 20 feet away and doesn’t notice you.

•AVs make decisions based on more factors. For example, AVs should be smart enough to know to take out the debuffer first. (If implemented, AV’s might have to be made weaker though.)

•More chasers. i.e. they chase you if you are hurt.

Make environment a tool for players. For example, if I stand behind a box, I get a little extra ranged defense. If I am elevated on a platform I get a little extra +dmg. Up against a wall during some melee damage? A little extra +res.

More creative ways to defect enemies. Like you have to knock them into a deep pit three times or something.

Something like a Galactus event would be neato.

Make clothing and armor matter. Examples:

•Wearing Light clothing? A little extra +def but more susceptible to debuff.

•Wearing Heavy armor? A little extra + res but slowed a bit.

•Big spikes on your shoulders? A chance for minor lethal damage against targets within 5 feet. Trade off is a bit of end cost when the damage triggers.

•Of course, we’d have to make this option turn-off-able for those who do not want clothing to matter.

Tradable powers. i.e. I could trade Time Bomb for a power from a list of developer pre-tested / pre-approved powers.

Craft-able specialty inspirations. Imagine being able to craft a single inspiration that gives you +dmg AND +acc.

    More drama within new content

    •Kill off a signature hero.

•Positron gets amnesia goes evil and becomes a tool for Recluse.

•Blue Steel gets kicked out for doping and begins to form his own Hero section.
  22. I just wanted to post in a thread that involves discussion of ice blasters.

Ice blasters are so strong in PvP.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I've been hearing various reports on the forums about how AR/traps doesn't have much synergy..but is the set still playable?..I want to use it for concept reasons, but I also want to be able to preform moderately well...am I COMPLETELY gimp here...or just alittle?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think at the lower levels, AR/Trap is less "playable" now than in the past. Traps got it's nerf of course. But the increased recharge time nerf to ignite really hurt AR for people just starting AR.

Additionally, both AR and Traps mature very late with basicly no powers that are great right out of the box.

Full Auto, flamethrower, PT and AM, while all very good powers, all need to be slotted signifcantly to be worth the time to use them.

However, the difficulties of AR/trap is what makes it fun I think. It's a thinking-mans build. I think it takes a certain personality to handle the build in it's cutrent form...particularly for someone who plans on soloing.
  24. I think mind should be the color clear.
  25. I'm surprised at all the hate on this topic.

I think what is throwing everyone off is my use of the term "Customization" I shouldn't have used that term has a pre-defined definition of it. Instead of customization, lets call it "more options"

One simple way to look at this is simply to give more options when the vet power is picked. Instead of picking 'blackwand' I'd pick "Veteran Dark Blast". Instead of picking Nemesis staff I'd pick "Veteran Energy Blast." These two blasts would of course work under modified versions of their normal performance characteristics.

This is a totally different concept than the hurdles involved with actual power customization in which you have a "red energy blast" and I want a "Green energy blast"

In my example above, your "Veteran Energy Blast" would be identical to my "Veteran Energy blast"

    Hope that clarifies.
