Quote:In a logical world, that would be true. However, the Marketeers that are creating the same manipulations in the market today (1,000,000 common salvage, for example) are simply being given a larger playing field.Having a vastly increased number of items in a market standardizes prices, typically for the lower.
Like I've said earlier, I don't tend toward playing the market mini-game. As a rule I slot what drops, but occasional I want to use the market to get a specific piece of salvage or something, especially with the intro of the temp combat powers. On blue side, that tended to be difficult at best, but at least on red side it could be done more times than not. This change - and I truly hope to be proven wrong - is going to benefit a specific group of players to the detriment of all the others.
I think the devs have based this idea solely on "ease of maintainability" with little regard towards the player base as a whole.
But that's just me. I guess we'll see when the dust settles in September or Novemeber. -
Quote:What an absolutely craptastic idea. Gone will be the days of finding anything at a reasonable price on the WW/BM.
Yes. You heard me, were merging the markets -
Quote:I've got a better idea:And now we've got another generation of useless exploit farm arcs, the majority of which will never be deleted, cluttering up the MA. Time to reiterate the request for some kind of purge mechanism to hide arcs that nobody wants to see anymore.
If an arc is reported as an exploit, a GM checks it. If it actually is, Global Name X is given ONE (1) warning not to do it again and all of Global Name X's mission are deleted from the AE database.
If Global Name X is reported and verified of creating an ExMission/ExFarm a second time, all of Global Name X's mission are deleted from the AE database and then Global Name X's AE Slots are locked, creating basically a Perma-Ban from creating any more AE mission.
It may be a little bit of a headache for the GMs in the onset, but after a few weeks (and a few dozen AE bans) the smart exploiters will get the hint that NCSoft's not kidding about repercussions anymore and not make any more attempts, the dumb exploiters will be locked out, and most of the "garbage" missions will be swept away.
There, no more patches, nerfs and burned dev-hours just to plug holes that the majority of us a) won't look for and b) report as bugs if we do find them. In fact, at that point why not restore AE to it's initial state concerning scaling, xps and such. Let AE go back to being what it was supposed to be... a way for us to create and showcase new content for others to play.
((PS: And as an added bonus, many of those really well-done missions and arcs that were abandoned because some anti-Exploit nerf cored them as well might become playable again... just a thought.)) -
And now an update... within a few hours of the new patch. The GM ExFarm has been replaced with a new AV ExFarm.
It's final solution time... remove EXPs from AE -

Quote:This would assume that changes they make to prevent exploiting in AE to be some sort of underhanded activity... which it isn't.Shame you don't come clean about some other AE nerfs/tweaks you made.
Let's all keep in mind that Devs don't have to discuss these changes with us at all, nor do they need to detail them for us. They do it because they care about the player base, as a whole, as more than just revenue generators, an uncommon practice with most MMORPGs and certainly rare for one walking towards it's 7-year mark. -
Quote:This, of course is an *opinion.* 8DThanks to the devs' attempts to kill PvP, PvP'ers had to consolidate on one server to have any PvP at all. Since Freedom was the most busy already, everybody went to Freedom. So now Freedom is really busy, but all other servers are dead.
Although I don't PvP, I do badge-hunt which requires me to enter Virtue's PvP areas, and there always seems to be some form of activity in the zones... not full to the brim, but enough to be obvious.
I would hop on at different times and poll the zone. I'm sure you'll find that there are still opponents for you. -
Hey we go again.
Someone buffed you without your permission? Can you show me on the doll where the MMO toon buffed you? -
It's fixed... it crashes much smoother and easier now.

There's been forcible mapserves all day. It's getting pretty annoying.

Best counter for market inflation: Don't pay 2 mil for an Inanimate Carbon Rod.
Seriously, just stop paying the inflated prices... as long as someone does, those prices are never gonna change. -

See, it costs me very little time to go the extra step in my "dishwasher unloading." But my mate is so much happier when she opens the drawer and sees the results. 8D -
Eh... could be. It wouldn't surprise me.
I think my issue is the lack of any modicum of communication. I did CSR/Tech Support for years. I may have had angry customers and they might not have been any happier when they got off the phone with me, but at least I made the effort to let them know what was going on.
*shrugs* -
Well, it gets more fun.
basically, the problem is that I sent an email on Sunday morning with an inf attachment before I found out the system was borked. The email vanished... along with my 118 million of infamy
this is the response I got from Support:
Quote:Ok... can anyone tell me what the HECK that has to do with a missing email with an inf attachment or the fact it has not been returned or made available yet?Hello,
Thank you for contacting the City of Heroes Support Team. System issues can cause players to lose access to some game features, like Global Chat or the Mission Architect or even prevent logging in to some servers. The server causing your issues should now be available for use. Please let us know if you are still having problems connecting in the future.
Thank you,
GM Roland

Congratulations.
Now patiently wait for the market to return just like every other player in the game, your grace.
Wheeee... I'll take the Llama, but my issue has nothing to do with the market. so.... IN YOUR FACE!!! 8P -
Yeah... I think we'll see the nerf-hammer dropped in the coming days

FoTM syndrome... it'll burn off in a while

I'm about an 8... then again, that's societies label for evil, not mine. The perfections of the humna race through the applications of cybernetics is hardly evil... just radical. The drug companies want your body to be old and sick... imperfect so that you can buy their "treatments" and fund their surgically altered ladyboi mistresses... YES... THAT'S RIGHT, i'M TALKING ABOUT YOU MS LIBERTY, WITH YOUR LONG COLT LIKE LEGS AND YOU SMOOTH SMOOTH FOREHEAD... AND... AND... err... um...
... pardon, I digress.
I just wish we could be a little more "evil" in Cov. Not repercussion-less evil... after all, even in the Isles, start slapping around civilians and the RiPs *should* response in force. Smack an Arbiter and your should be dealt with. I'd like to see a bit more "good guy" NPCs in mission and more missions that take place in Paragon City environs. Imagine, for example, if a kidnapping or theft mission was set on a mayhem map, for example where you have to make the choice, avoid the cops on my way to the target, or raise a little hell.
Just my two cents -

Day Two: Still nothing more than a "we'll get to it" response from the GMs.
Outside the room, I can hear people talking, but I'm not sure what they say. It's a foreign language of some kind. I can make out some words here and there, lies, half-truths, unformed sounds that make your brain itch... arcane syllables that can take such a simple concept as "just roll back my toon to Saturday, that should make things all better" and twist it into something complex and muddled, ensconced in strange geometries and forbidden lore.
As I peer through the crack, something shambles about, slow and ponderous as if the very air about it stagnates into a slow-moving viscous-like liquid that must detached step by step. It's as though time itself slows to nearly a halt about this massive mastodon-like entity; even the very light flickering as it fights to escape the clutches of this living singularity incarnate.
Then I realize who has my infamy captive...
