  1. To answer Timeshadows question in a word: Yes

I think it's very much a game killer when you run up against any npc that simply does not adhere to the "natural laws" of the game universe (eg, the laws we follow, non-interruptible snipers, for example), a lot of which seem to be hold-overs from the "Statesman" era.

I think if I had to pick one thing that annoys me the most about CoH is the sheer amount of "cheater" NPCs.

    Mind/Psi help

I usually don't consider IOs much for anything except tertiary stuff until my 40s. Then again, I usually only slot what drops as a rule anyway.
  3. Well, everyone's mentioned your secondary power set choices, being more team oriented, no need to rehash.

Like you, I noticed many of my older builds not performing as well as they used too. After a little poking about and questions asking - and this is completely unsubstantiated, I've found nothing official saying this - it is my understanding that the base-line difficulty of missions was increased 'round about when the difficulty structure was changed.

Playing with the setting of -1/x1 seems to bring about (generally) the same style of mobs that were normally spawning before the changes. On most squishy builds/ATs I've had a pretty good success rate with -1/x2.
  4. All I know is that's pretty much my play time for Monday... Thanks a bunch, NCSoft.

Whats wrong with having it in the wee hours of the morning?

(I think my downfall is I just can't bring myself to stand around and rp and so try and do it while: leading a mission, recruiting for a sg, recruiting a PuG, killing badies, getting badges..etc etc).

My question is specifically when does RPing cross the line in terms of personal attack, offensive language etc? As a follow up I'm curious if all you experienced ones have a code as to when/if said line has been crossed.

For the most part what RPing I have participated in since I've transfered to Virtue has been fun and instructive (if not rushed, but that's my fault).

The one big glaring exception was a lv. 50 new recruit into a newly formed SG, I guess because he liked the name. He proceeded to offer me 400mil to make him a leader. Kind instruction to read the SG desc for how promotions work. He proclaims his everlasting love and offers me 1Bil to be a leader. At this point I treat him like a drug dealer and just say NO....(mouse is sliding to the "kick sg memeber" button)

...mass tells of how he's going to kill my family, children, dog, and grandma... in graphic terms no less... (here's where I believe the line is crossed)

...kicked from sg...but I invite him to a team...I ask him "wtf was that?"

    He says, "((I'm rping))"

Blah...sounds to me like "RPing" in this case was just an excuse to wail into some random dude without the repercutions of having to follow the rules. Petitioned for personal harrassment.

Help me understand what I did wrong or right here with this "mentally challenged" rper...
    It's hard to tell.

    Here's three questions:

Were you personally offended? (if no, stop here. Jerk or no, if s/he's not really bothering you, there's not a problem)

If so, did you ask him out-of-character to taper/play down the behavior that was offensive? (if no, stop here. If you didn't say something there's no way s/he knows they've crossed a border with you. Can't ask them to follow a rule you don't tell them.)

Did he actually stop/taper off the offensive behavior? (if yes, stop here. If s/he complies to your request, there's no problem.)

If you made it this far, then I'd say, you have a problem with the player. Is it harassment? Not really. Unless he's going out of his way to continue issues with you (such as continuing in tells after kicking him from the sg or team, trying to rejoin under other toons, etc) then it might be considered such. Your situation doesn't sound like it... it sounds just as you say, s/he's using rp as an excuse to be a jerk.

Good/Bad RP is really in the eye of the beholder... what you might think is fine another would snub, and it's not really a reportable offense.

The best thing for you, if you've gotten past the three questions I posed, is to remember the "ignore" function is your friend. No need to get flustered, angry or upset... one click and you never have to endure his "rp" again. Make a global note as well, so if you ever run across him again on a team and get the inevitable tell " Mister X wants to know why you have him on ignore..." you have the notes at your fingertips.

Ok... first questions to ask yourself: Why do they need all that just to verify me?

    Answer: They don't.

If you ever have any doubt, go to the source. Contact the support team directly through the website (not any links or numbers given to you in the email).

    This.

I'm a little disturbed by this "Stalkers don't contribute to a team" rap I've been hearing again. It's simple, if you're using your powers and abilities while on a team... you're contributing. If a power choice on a character is not performing in a way or manner *you* feel it should, the character is still contributing. If the player is doing anything to forward the current goal of the team, he's contributing.

    Too easy, right?
  8. Globals are down, BM is intermittent at best, command lag seems to be holding about about 4 secs, mapserves seem to be increasing...

On a good note... no rikti evens as of yet

Normally I'd defend them, but it's been happening since I logged in this morning. I think *some* form of update would be appropriate with as long as this issues been happening today.
  10. Add to repeated mapserves, command lag, and now I've been told for three minutes that my character is currently logging out and to try again in a sec.

Nice to see that new "Ultra Lag" mode is working out

    Boom crash!

Great... trying to get a little play in before the "maintenance" black out and... bam
  13. Maybe it just me, but for an extended time like this, I think we should get a bit more explanation than simply "maintenance." It doesn't have to be long and detailed, but give the community a bit more to go on.
  14. Meh, Looks like just another *we don't want to offend the non-vets" Vet Reward again.

Yep... for me zone times have shot up significantly since I17, and there's a disturbing little pause when I access contacts, auction house, and qms/stores.

I assumed that it was simply the requirements of the game no longer being "as advertised" when I first bought the game added to the increasing back-end complexity with the upcoming combination of blue/red server data... and the fact that my ISP is a clueless tool in my area (dirty connection at times).

That's why I deleted my last post to this mess because we're just going back and forth. I have mine, you have yours. You have an opinion it might be good, I have an opinion that it might be bad. Until it actually happens and stabilizes, one of us could be right, one of us could be wrong.

I'm willing to agree to disagree.

Ok... insult aside. Because it doesn't agree with yours, it's flawed?

It's my "opinion,* no more valid or invalid than yours and the only way it changes is if I change it. Present me some form of fact - which there can't possibly be, for the simple fact as the market merge hasn't happened or had a chance to settle in yet - and I might consider it, otherwise you're simply wasting your time.

My opinion stands: I think it's a bad idea that benefits the few over the many, done for the sake of behind-the-scenes simplicity.
