Here is the thing, the argument that they are so ingrained to the story on either side is moot since by 20 a new player on hero or villain hasn't seen much or any of the kheldian's story. As far as arachnos soldiers, they are a dime a dozen and not really heavily story driven as much as mobs that tend to populate many stories.
Also making it a 50 praetorian unlock is silly since you cant have a 50 praetorian without just parking a praet and constantly EXing down to people. That is not something a new player is going to want to do...
The reasoning behind lowering the levels to unlock these ATs is to make them more accessible. I say just let if flag on the first side a praet chooses. Pick hero when you come out the portal and you get the hero EAT, if you switch to villain it doesn't count because your first choice was hero. That way they would have to carry two guys to 20 to unlock both EATs just like anyone who doesn't have GR. -
Via twitter just now: @CoH_OCR: What could this image mean? Find out at the #CoH panel at Pax Prime tomorrow morning! http://bit.ly/dei3MM
I hope it means the comic is ciming back, but I guess it could be a new LFG system... -
Quote:This is unfortunately the single most honest post I have read on the forums in a long time. The defense meta-game has done terrible things to this game. Until they put in some heavy resistance buffs in IOs the pure resistance sets are going to be "gimped" by comparison even though they should be performing just as good.<snip>
The biggest flaws with the set are not intrinsic to the set, but rather a result of the defense meta-game that currently dominates City of Heroes across the board. If it were as easy to improve your resistance as it is your defense, Fiery Aura would be in shouting distance of Shield Defense, falling short only because of poor status protection.
<snip>
I long for the day when the devs get to adding some real resistance buffs to IO and sets that get tons of hate like FA suddenly as top tier again and so many people will have to stop complaining.
FYI to the OP, calling the devs retarded is foolish. They work hard and it shows. I don't know why you think the devs have this mystical switchboard where they can just change portions of the game on the fly lickity-split. They do their darn-dest to keep moving the game towards perfection (which is honestly a impossible fight with any MMO) and berating them doesn't make them want to work any harder. -
Quote:I use the free version of fraps which is why it should say "Fraps.com" or something similar at the top. the free version works well enough but will only let you record up to 30 seconds of footage at a time so YMMV.Out of topic : I'm not Jaxom, but I think many players use Fraps. It's a very good tool, but it's not free. There is a free option that so far has worked really well by me and is extremely simple to use, it's Wegame. With a decent or average computer, you should not have any problem to run any of those, good luck
I will look into the wegame app though, it might suit me better. -
Quote:Well it is a strike type attack... maybe Assassin's Blast too though... It doesn't really bother me too much though as I don't care about the names of attacks as much as i do the animations. They could go down the set and just name them Tier 1 Punch, Tier 2 Punch, etc. and as long as I looked sweet while punching people I will be happy.Again, thanks for the info everyone!
And yet again, why didn't they name it something that wasn't a copy of EM's move!?
Is no one else at all bummed by this? Is it because the attacks are both Energy/Smashing damage? Should we rename Electric Melee's move too!?
Come on people, say *something* -
ok assassin strike video is >>>here<<<.

Making Assassin strike video just for you... ill post when its uploaded...

Ok, vid is >>>here<<<.

Just so people can see the animations too I am uploading to youtube now, i'll post the link momentarily...

Numbers for level 50 Scrapper. Thing to note: The added damage on the power siphon proc is for each damage type. I just listed the first type for the sake of image size.

I just got my nin/nin stalker to 24, wait and try out divine avalanche before you start pushing slots to work defense. I cant get a solid 53% melee with nothing but SOs and DA and melee is most of your incoming damage when scrapping. I don't think I'm going to mess with IOs on my stalker till he hits the 30s and I get a good idea of exactly what I am going to finish out with and what slots I can fiddle around on.
Just food for thought. -
My bot/dark is named Shadow Virus and he was originally a computer virus that the CoT tried to enhance with magic. instead of making it a stronger virus that could bypass any security measures they made it a self aware virus that then broke free and headed through the internet to a crey facility where it procured some super advanced nano-bots and built itself a physical body. While it was there it saw no reason to ~not~ steal the locations of 3 prototype crey military bots and 3 crey security bots.
Because of it's viral background his pets are named:
Drones: Mal, Trojan, Worm
Prots: McAfee, Norton
Assault: Michelangelo (its an infamous virus) -

Use to "go to" comand to tell them to get right up on the mobs. Once they are there then us the attack command. Most of the time they will unleash with the melee then. Some thing will still give you trouble, namely patrols and ambushes. Moving mobs and things that attack first will still trigger the crossbow of lame instead of the katana of doom.

I have a gadgeteer defender that works for a intergalctic peace keeping force. He is trap/elec and it looks great. I use the cyborg gloves and said he is augmented. But you could easily use fat gloves of the giant robut gloves and say its a power tech clove.
If you really wanted to you could use dark lighting with a deep purple hue and say its some sort of singularity projector tossing out tears in space. Then the cage would look like a sort of black hole. Or if it was really bright then cage looks like a rippling shield. -
I have a DB/WP that is stalled @ 40. I just can't stand him. because of the combo focus you basically end up pressing the same train of attacks over and over. I literally hit 1 2 3 4 5 6 repeat for power up and sweep over and over. It just gets boring.
-
Anyone who remembers the original rage can tell you, 20% def crash that can be completly negated is nothing to worry about at all.
-
Quote:Exactly, I tend to run slightly different then most as I run my guys as purest. I tend not to delve into fighting or get attacks outside of the primary set. I rarely even get patron pools unless I think they will be really handy or they fit my concept.<snip>
I would recommend learning your own play style for your toon, and make your build around it. By doing it that way you might save yourself a lot of inf by buying the enhancements you want the first time around. And, as you can see all the builds that were on this post were fairly different from one another.
On the other hand some people will dip into 3 or more pools and really maximize the potential of their brutes/tanks. It's really a matter of preference. -
I used to run sans fitness till I SKed to a buddy in a massive carnie/matla arc. Respeced into it mid arc and never looked back. Besides being a great place to put IO sets that extra recov helps you bounce back from end drain fast, which is essential in big carnie groups.
And as far as medicine is concerned I would skip it. All the knockdown SS does helps WP find the time needed to regenerate, esspecially when you add in footstomp.
As stated above leadership is made mute by the effects of rage. -
Some mobs are always vicious even to the mez "immune". Take tsoo henchmen with energy melee. Enough of them hit my buddy on his invuln tank and he gets perma stunned for the rest of the fight. But, for the most part, you should be golden on KB and mez protection against most mobs.
With my build I was looking for regen def recharge and damage boost. The acc bonus just happened to come with it. When I couldn't get exactly what I was looking for I looked for +HP and +recovery. It won't be as uber as a /SR brute could be in terms of staying power, but it also wont have the RNG of doom that can drop them in 2 hits. -
Ok, this is what I came up with. Thoughts? BTW pay no attn to slot levels, i just threw it together hehe. Wasn't taking leveling into account.

Interesting Eian, that is some really high regen there. And yeah I know what you mean about loosing some effect with set Desitre. I Think im gonna end up going with alot of regen and try and get recharge/damage bonuses out of the attacks. Ill post again when I figure something out.
-
But what about IO sets? I have no idea what to focus on with those, let alone where to slot them. Any thoughts?

I forgot to post my power line up. I am currently @ 29
