Speaking with would-be-Doms and newbie-Doms there's some misconceptions regarding the melee nature of most secondary attacks.

I know of someone that said they don't take any melee and that people who did were silly because 'You're squishie', I got an image in my head of a Dom toe-to-toe with a Freak Tank and laughed.

There's no way my Doms would just stand there, Mind Probe and then wait for the Tank to slice me in the kidneys. Generally I leap over my enemies with Mind Probe ready in and zip around for cones/aoes/thelike. But this might all be from my Dark/Dark Corr which involves a lot moving around a mob to net them in the cones.

Always moving or else I'm dead! That's the Dominator Way!...like a shark or something!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I go toe to toe with Freak Tanks. Of course they're perma held so can't hurt me, but i remain in close proximity :P

    Rad/Cold Build

How difficult was this combo to lvl? (i'm still on my hunt to find a corr combo i like - am enjoying /cold but not sure about a blast set to go with) I'm guessing it runs easiest in teams, were you able to solo at lower levels?
  3. I am up for Ice Mistral TF. I'll be bringing a Fire/energy dominator who is lvl 39 (and will be looking for lvl 40 lol). Toon name Dreadsource, or hit me up at my global @Jaw Dropper. Cheers, see you wed (and maybe thurs and friday with my brute if im feeling jolly hehe)
  4. With my own elec/ brute i personally dont have Jacob's ladder yet. Great power yep, but takes a while to activate. I use Charged Brawl, Havok Punch and Air Supe to build fury then unleash with Thunderstrike as my big hitter/aoe. If there's a break in the chain i drop in a sands of Mu and this seems to work fine for me I do plan on taking Jacobs Ladder latter though. Other than that, your build is scarily close to how i would combine elec/ with /elec (i have an elec/wp and a dark/elec but not an elec/elec lol)
  5. Power boost is one of the reasons i went /energy in the first place (PB + Dom + Flashfire = Yum) but i hadn't thought about how it would work with the patrons... For mace, obviously it will boost the defdebuff but can anyone confirm that it will boost the -res? Also, does Powerboost boost +res or only +def? If only buffs +def then thats another thing in scorpion's favour! Not desperate on getting Power sink, don't have massive end problems atm, and can definitly slot more end reduc. But Water spout is really tempting! Argh this is confusing and I really dont want to make a decision i end up regretting and stop playing the toon!
  6. ice/sonic as mentioned above. That is all :P
(oh yeah earth/storm rocks so thats good too hehe)

The OP does have a point. Maybe its time corruptors had a blast set exclusive to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

there are very few exclusive powersets around, and corruptors have 2 of them already. Plus they have access to sets which blasters and defenders don't both have access to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Moderately off-topic, but these are the exclusive powersets that i could remember off the top of my head:

    Controllers: illusion and earth controls.
Blasters: All secondaries unique but most share powers with other sets. All primaries shared with defenders or corrupters
Defenders: Psychic blast as unique as it gets, but this is v similar to dominator's psychic assault. All other sets shared among Blasters, corrupters, masterminds and controllers.
    Scrappers: Broadsword.
    Tankers: Battle axe and mace
Khelds: largely unique, although most powers ripped from other sets

Brutes: Elec melee and elec armour
    Corrupters: Thermals and cold domination
Dominator: Secondaries are largely ripped from other sets so can't really be classed as unique. Plant control is tho.
Mastermind: Obviously all primaries are, secondaries have traps and poison as exclusive choices.
Stalker: Nothing exclusive, all shared with Brutes, Scrappers and tankers with a few tweaks to specialise them (eg Hide and AS etc).

By and large, kinda balanced imo!
  8. Well as an attempt to help out:

First off I dont have a DB/Regen, and i think that might be part of the problem since there are very few of those out there. In my experience (and thats all there is, i have no figures on this) /regen is one of the least popular stalker secondaries. Why? I personally would prefer other sets due to its lack of defense. Other power sets, especially /energy /SR and /Ninj in the later levels have great defense allowing you to hide mid fight much easier. This seems to have been held against /regen. In its defense however, the endurance usage is low so you could make a stamina-less build (although how this would perform in a long "scrap" type fight is variable based on your slotting might need to whack some +recovery bonuses in!).

As for Dual Blades: I've had a little play with it on a stalker and i really want to like it! The animations are far to graceful for Brutes so it really should belong to the more surgical stalkers. But something for me doesnt click. As you already mentioned, combos are borked. I would add to the above that the combo mean that you will have to take a lot of the attacks meaning your build will be tight (although, if you go staminaless, you will have more room). Also, the combos are made up so that it takes many levels to get more than empower (although since you are 30 already, this isnt an issue). One pro is that you get Empower combo (which for all other Dual blades is a soft build up - and most avoid!) as well as build up, 2 +dmg powers! For me, the biggest draw back with Dual blades on a stalker is the animations feel rather long. My other stalkers are Dark melee and Claws, both of which attack very quickly, something that, for me, increases the survivability. I mean, doing te long sexy animations leaves me open to attack, and stalkers can't risk that as much as other Dual bladers can (and especially regen when delaying a heal by too long can mean death).

So I'm afraid it's bad news from me. But like I said, most of this is based on theory rather than any practice (although that was good enough for my degree!) so I'm sure you know much better after 30 levels! Hopefully this will spark some debate

Oh and finally, you've gotten it up 30 levels, you will know by now whether you enjoy it. If you do, then ignore all the haters and keep doing it! If you don't enjoy it, move on

    Edit: removed ambiguous comment
  9. My fire/energy dom is currently at 39 so i too am considering patrons for him (darn the inability to change patrons) so a little worried about making the wrong choice. Was thinking of Mako for Water Spout like Def_user above, but is this a bit of a bad choice (i was gonna slot it with stun set for +recharge and so that it could keep mobs stunned after flashfire.) Am i better off going with Scirroco for power sink? Problem is i've already done the sciroco arc Thoughts on which patrons would compliment Fire/energy best whilst offering capacity to slot for +recharge would be great.

    change to rage

    [ QUOTE ]
Shatter is a high damage cone attack (its arc has been increased), crowd control is a cone, whirling mace is an aoe. Sure war mace is the badest set for pve purpose...
Hit 2-3 mobs with shatter and you overdamage KO blow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But all of them are highly resisted and shatter is reknowned for its long activation time. True, War Mace may not be the worst/"badest" atm, but its still subpar (all in my opinion of course)
  11. Just out of interest, how have you found tanking AVs? Is it ok with support?
  12. Similarly, my elec/wp brute is going to grab tough but not aid self. Just my opinion though! Take one, if it doesnt work, well there's always respecs!
  13. Various costumes with various claws, main one has the talsorian claws on the vanguard gloves which is not disimilar looking to the enforcer + talsorian combos mentioned above, looks ace.
2nd one is a costume using some of the samurai clothes (the tight stuff not the bulky armour) which ive paired with viper (iirc) claws.
And the third one that i have had the chance to update is a trench coat + flack jacket and trousers costume that has the flat blades, for a more 'urban' look :P
My paragon protector costume will of course not be updating the claws
  14. Cheers for the comments guys, taken on board, might draft another build tomoz. Got some questions though:
Protector bots: Is my above slotting correct? or is it worth stressing the def rather than the heal?
Poison gas arrow: actually worth taking? seems the dmg debuff is only 15% for MMs...
Medicine pool: Will i be needing this or can i survive without (with an ample supply of greens :P)

    Cheers in advance
  15. Hi all. I used to have a /ta troller years ago and never fully appreciated its value. Been inspired therefore to roll a new one and thought MM would allow me to make the most of it. So here's my potential build feel free to comment since i have little experience in either set. This is kind of a leveling up build so i didnt bother with set IOs. Anyway tell me what u think.

  16. imo the best solo leveling corr is ice/rad or ice/dark, just my opinion though
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Accolades have been changed in the latest test build. It now does not matter what level you earn them at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry for the idiotic question but can you clarify what this means exactly? I mean, is it like, an accolade I acquire at 50 will be there when i exemp down, to a certain level? Wow...that was some great english, well done me.

EDIT: Cheers Sinergy_X below. Available at all levels ftw.
  18. About 2 years ago, some peeps from my sg made a "Knives of Artemis" themed team. We didnt get very far with it but it was good fun. However I realised recently that some of the Villain ATs and sets would fit the concept much better.

Basically I'm just testing the water to see if people like the sound of the concept and would like to hear more details on ideas/concepts I have in mind.

If no one finds it remotely interesting i'll just go back to lurking in the forums :P
  19. See i was considering elec/willpower too. The lack of self heal doesnt bother me, my two other brutes dont have one and they do ok, so the only concern would be whether lightning rod would knock back enemies so that the pbaoe acc debuff in rise to the challenge (iirc) didnt work?
  20. JawDropper_EU

    Ice/stormy build

Not wanting to derail the thread too much, but i am interested in gathering more opinions on artic air, is it worth getting or will shiver suffice? The major issue i have is the that of its endurance usage, since my ice troller is an ice/sonic i will have the two sonic toggles also draining my end, and would contemplate throwing some leadership into the mix later if i could!

I don't have a real question per se, just looking for ppl's opinions of it as a power pls.
  21. JawDropper_EU

    PvP Dominator?

Well if its that good i cant miss out now can i! I think he may end up on Defiant though, i'm now in the process of movin my villains there so i have villains on one server, heroes t'other
  22. JawDropper_EU

    PvP Dominator?

Thanks guys, thats nice advice. might try to make a pvp mind/ice then, see how he does.
  23. ...do people think would go best with electric melee? I already have a /electric and /energy aura so dont want to repeat those. Also i dont particaularly want /stone since it doesnt fit my brute style. So /fire /inv or /dark? Fire seems to be the aoe dmg choice and would go well with elec's plentiful aoe attacks. But is it too squishy to solo EBs and things? And is the lack of a God Mode power that bad? Inv seems better to solo with... Which leaves /dark of which i know little. All i know is psi res (yay) and apparantly high end costs, true?
So what goes well with elec/?
