Quote:Ill take an autohit mez then over something with a tohit check 10 times outta 10 times.Yes, because we're comparing the available tools you can use to completely disable foes. Whether it's balanced or not is irrelevant - what's matters is what we need the powers to do.
Quote:This discussion started with your claims that the -toHit in TG (of all things) was enough to "usually" make foes with annoying powers miss.
Quote:Your options for ensuring the mob in question can do nothing are Howling Twilight (8.33% base uptime), Dark Pit (19.9% base uptime) or PG (74.4% uptime). If that mob is a LT, Dark Pit isn't even an option. If the mob is a boss, your only option is to stack Dark Pit with HT or to stack PG.
Quote:What does that have to do with the topic at hand, exactly? Did I make any claims at all about how damaging a DDD is? No, in fact I advised against taking Blackstar on the basis that I don't think it's a good use of a DDD's endurance.
Quote:The time spent between a DDD's opportunities to stack stuns is the big waste of potential. Instead, fear most foes, petrify the ones that you can't afford to be able to hit you, and save HT's stuns for emergencies not covered by the fear/hold combination.
mob/spawn is quivering shakin in there boots while you SLOWLY wittle away with NF+ TT. -
Well ya, sonix has -resistance. you made it seem like kinetics has -res. And it doesnt.
If your talkin about a kin/sonic, the aoe sleep would be even more mitigation. I made that point already. -
-
Whos the ****** bag that gave me negative rep for my opinion?
-
Quote:Are you tryin to compare the recharge/duration of a ST mez against an AoE mez?PG's base duration/recharge ratio at level 50 is 11.9/16 or 74.4% uptime. With double duration and 66.6% recharge slotting, that rises to 248% uptime.
Compare that with Dark Pit, at a base duration ratio at level 50 of 11.9/60 or 19.9% uptime. With double duration slotting and 66.6% recharge that's a 66.1% uptime ratio.
Thats called balance.
Please Uber Guy, I expect more from you then that.
And while ddd's might be the most survivable of defenders their certainly not the most damaging combo for defenders.
If the OP asked for help on a dark/ice or a dark/elec build i woulda said take PG.
stacked holds ftw.
This is for a dark/dark build and neglecting stacked stuns IMO is a big waste of potential. -
Quote:Usually PG will hit and hold your foe. I guess that isnt good enough either.Because "usually" isn't good enough.
Also, TG is one of the smaller -toHit powers in the set. It's also a very long animation time. Spending time stacking that on foes is terrible for your damage/time.
Even well-slotted Fearsome Stare, which has nearly double the base -toHit of TG, is not sufficient to provide certainty that you will be missed by a mezzing mob. Certain critter factions have frequent mezzers in nearly every spawn. Making the mezzers "usually" miss means you're going to suffer a lot of mez in the course of a mission.
I explained why I do not recommend Dark Pit. It has one of the worst mez statistics in the game. I also explained why I do not rely on HT as a mez. It is extremely long recharging to rely on this way, and extremely expensive to cast on top of it. Its mez is nice to have in emergencies, but it is not a tool you can rely on using every spawn.
Dark pit's and PG's mez statistics are both horrible. Its the worst hold in the game.
Your every spawn mez is FS.
I laugh at anyone using statistics like damage/time with a ddd. -
Twilight grasps -tohit debuff is so large that if used pre-emptively those annoying lts, problem mobs will usually miss.
Why pick another power (PG) when you already have soo many powers that neuter problem spawns/mobs?
If dark miasma had another hold in the powerset id be all for PG. With an autohit stun (HT) that has the benefit of a team rez why wouldnt you take dark pit? And slotted for recharge the cooldown isnt horrible long on HT.
And yes id skip torrent and life drain as well. -
Nice, I can transfer pve characters OFF freedom and save a couple bucks not having to buy more character slots.
Thanx devs. -
Almost every power in your primary is worth takin.
The only 2 I wouldnt take would be black hole and petrifying(?) gaze.
Tarpit and fearsome stare are must haves.
Secondary? Im not a fan of snipes or nukes on defenders. If you like them have at it.
Nightfall and Tenebrous tentacles are must haves.
Power pools are your choice as well. Fitness, travel, I took leadership and went heavy into dark epic.
No hasten for me as well. If i had 1 extra powerpick it would be that.
Search back maybe 2 or 3 pages and a dark/dark discussion was brought up not too long ago that had good info in it.
Hope that helps. -
I would highly suggest NOT making a kin if u plan on solo'n. I did, and its tedious at best.
With no real mitigation in your primary it is an edge of your seat, knife edge set. Of course with sonix blasts u get a AoE sleep soo maybe that'll work for ya.
Id roll kinetics as a controller secondary.
Same with Sonix, with 3 powers that can only be used on team mates id suggest that as a controller secondary as well.
Listen to the masses. Go rad/xxx and have fun. -
Ive stalled on an claw/elec brute at around 24ish.
On paper it has all the intangibles.
Energize was the carrot, I just dont think its gonna make it.
Yes the allure of shockwave + spin + lightning field is promising, I just dont see myself sloggin 7 more lvls to get there.
Take from that what you will. -
1 scrapper combo that doesnt get enough credit that is hellafun is an ma/da
Grav/thorn dom was a blast. Wormhole to thorntrops anyone?
Other than those 2 im pretty much a concept player.
Ice/ice. or Fire/fire. That kinda stuff.
Anyways.... -
Quote:No offense to any posters here offering advice.Very true. Except this particular question will be a PvP build, so I will mostly be attacking non-stop. So the timing of when it fires is always useful :P
But...
Any questions in regards to pvp Id ask on the pvp boards.
What people think and what really happens in pvp are 2 totally different things. -
Getting to 140% recharge involves LotG +recharge, which last time I checked are goin for 200 mil a pop.
Good luck with that. -
Im never gonna disagree with Werner again.
All those meal replacement drinks must make you buff! -
Nothing is better than 7-11's house blend with INTERNATIONAL (not coffee mate) hazelnut cream.
Just got myself a cup. -
Deflated Ego chance for recovery debuff and Dark Watcher's despair chance for recharge slow would do what exactly in Darkest Night?
Only proc on the target I have targetted or have a chance for everyone in range of toggle debuff? -
Singy takes knock, pet damage and recharge intensive pets.
Basilisks Gaze wont work. -
Not without a major rework and then it prob wont be ninjutsu.
I can soak alphas all day long on /dark armor. Without needing defense.
Have 1 AV show up let alone 2 and imma be cryin on /da. -
True, I would add additional defense to /invuln, I just wouldnt use my primary to do it.
-
D, Nothing was missed intentionally.
Lets pretend.
kat/inv jumps into a spawn of purples. Invinc. will need mobs around to fuel its defense. DA will need to hit first to give any defense. For that first volley you'll prob take damage, you might even need to hit dull pain. What will you do when you jump into that next spawn and again you take damage?
And sure, I can see a player goin a whole tf without using DP. I know its possible, I play /invuln as well and rarely need it also.
I also play /dark armor.
Adding katana to either set will greatly increase survivability but thats cuz of the OPness of DA.
If layered mitigation is the way to increase survivability, addin more defense to /invuln is not the way to go. It has resist/def already. If i wanted to increase /invulns survivability id add healing to it from dm/
Likewise upping /dark armors survivability which is healing/resist, id add defense from katana.
I dont think either set combo sux.
I just think kat/da is more survivable against everyday run-of-the mill content. And only cuz DR can heal 1-100% very often.
I think getting surprised against 2 AV's at once in a mission (your example) is where kat/inv would shine, with the greater resists/defense and increase of health from DP. But that greater survivabiliity comes less often.
That is all. -
I was gonna make a thread about this just today. Glad to see there's already one.
A couple questions.
1 recharge intensive sets. what are they good for to increase recharge? I like the 4 slot set bonus's.
2 force feedback proc. will this increase singy's attack rate, increase mine or will it not do anything?
Im gathering that frankenslotting acc/dam/hold/immob is the way to go. Yes/No?
