  1. I most definitely want the Carnival mask as usable for both male and female, perhaps a variant on it without the extra glitz and tintable eyes? I have a few toons that would like just a plain porcelain mask. Would also request the Sybil robes, and again a simpler, plainer variant (Not asking alot here as all it would require is an alternate texture, and going by the shader retouching comment earlier I can't imagine that a tintable plain fabric texture would be much to ask). Since we've basically been told full-length skirts aren't happening that's about as close to a cocktail dress on my psychic lounge singer that I'll ever get.

    Also Skull/Hellion masks.

And whatever you port make it unisex, don't care what it is.
  2. You have made my signature because dagnabbit I haven't laughed that hard in I don't know how long.

Also so much truth in this topic. XD

    Costumes!

I'm gonna hop on the bandwagon as well and say that I'd REALLY like to see the older villain group stuff become available to players wherever possible, even if it would require more work and prevent new (so to speak) costume pieces. Heck, I know the carnie leggings wouldn't work on characters because they have about a bazillion colors, but a variant that takes two shades and mixes as needed to create a similar effect would be fine with me.

What I want more than anything really is a porcelain mask like the Carnival wears, for BOTH MALE AND FEMALE, or if not that at least a whole face mask very similar to it. I have many characters that would make use of it, even if just for a formal/halloween costume. There's plenty of stuff that NPCs have that would just make sense to give characters.

Heck, do us one better and make it the focus of a future issue to further exemplify the Going Rogue system. Give us a whole mess of classic villain group costume pieces, perhaps some new powersets/proliferation that would tie into it (Dark doms for Carnival/Skulls, Fire/Thermal defenders for Hellions, Psionic corruptors for Carnival/Rikti) and toss in some new arcs that might make reference to a bunch of criminals in Paragon starting to break away from their groups and turning their abilities to the fight for good, or on the redside of the spectrum, a bunch of villain group splinter cells and soloists moving in on the Rogue Isles and upsetting the balance of power. I think it'd be a fantastically fun and well-recieved issue.
  4. I'll admit I haven't read the thread, just skipped ahead to drop in my two cents after seeing Ocho voice support for Illusion for Doms.

Illusion/Psionic Assault. I would make it my main and play it more than any other toon. It would DESTROY anything that stood in front of it.
  5. I'm going to throw my two cents in on this as I haven't seen anyone make what seems to be a very logical suggestion.

I for one don't want to lose pieces that are useful, but I find that I don't use any of the legacy stuff that you're talking about because it does, in fact, look absolutely awful. Pixelated textures on tights just doesn't cut it. I say go in and revamp everything that has texture or pixelation issues, make it look nice, make sure new textures match up to the corresponding other textures in that set. Then take out everything old, unless there are significant changes made to them.

Basically I want a mix of option 1 and 2. As Memphis Bill said earlier, we're already cluttered as is and could benefit from subcategories so we don't need old nasty looking versions of things that have great new looks. However, if say, in reworking the steampunk texture you decide to add some geometry pieces to it and make it something kind of like the resistance chest detail (i.e. an armor piece in steampunk style), leave the old texture option as well. Only do this in the case of DRASTIC changes. If it's just upping the polycount and cleaning up the texture to make it look consistent then in the garbage with the old one.
  6. See, now I'm irritated. This is a contest that I'd actually stand a ghost of a chance of winning as it doesn't require you to be an artist like most of the US competitions, and it's only open to the EU players. When does the US get a contest like this?

EDIT - And just to point out, I'm glad the EU got their own contest, just irritated that of all the contests the US players get most require some form of artistic skill of which I am completely devoid. A costume design contest I'd stand a chance at, but we never get stuff like that. *Shrug* Oh well. Have fun with that one EU, and may the best (wo)man win!
  7. Just logged in and have the option to create a Praetorian. It's live.
  8. I'd get behind either of those ideas as honestly, I don't think it's fair to have badges in game that are literally unobtainable. Both of those ideas are pretty good to keep with the spirit of the badge, though I think they'd shy away from the server transfer idea as it reeks of paying for a badge and that's just NOT kosher, or a good road to go down.

Any chance we'll get a list of the things that are being considered/worked on with the highest priority? Would love to get a glimpse of what's on the table and what we can look forward to in the future.

  11. Throwing my support in on this as well. Also, on the flipside of the coin, Empathy can only be colored bright, and has no dark option, which should be gone as well for those of us who might like to make, say, a defender with dark blast who heals allies with their shadowy powers. Odd maybe, but creative.

Pain needs bright options so it can match up with other powers, otherwise I shy away from using it as it causes a creative dissonance in my head that I don't care for. Bright green energy blasts, and deep, muddy, olive green pain domination. Ick. Especially with BaBs stating that the set was developed with the in-universe explanation being that it's basically mentally controlling your teammates pain receptors, there's no reason for us not to be able to tint it bright lilac like typical psionic powers, or even magic. Especially with Going Rogue coming up and villains coming hero-side I see no cause for this.

Slight tangent perhaps but I'm STILL severely displeased with the situation on ice coloring and think that ban should be lifted as well. I'd love to make a virtual reality hero brought to real life who generates green wireframe armor (green edges and as transparent as I can make the rest) to defend himself. *nodnod*
  12. Rawr, I've posted three times but I just keep seeing things that sound good and thinking of others. lol. Just one small one this time.

Flight animations need to be choosable. For example, I have a psychic character that floats via telekinesis, but I'd kill to have her be able to use the hover animation at filght speed. It suits her MUCH more than the "DA-DA-DA-DAAAA~!" style of flight. XD And then I've got some more traditional and vaguely Large Ham super heros that would love to constantly use that cheesy, fist forward stand, or the arms open style. Options to color effects, and have a few different elemental/aura styles would be much appreciated as well. Hover animation + Psionic style effects + Green tint = Love.
  13. I know I posted already, but I've seen a few things crop up I'd like to throw my support behind and reiterate.

Sleeker look for ice armor (perhaps something like Armor from the X-Men but less bulky?) would go a long way to making me ever want to use an ice armor set.

Alot of very nice suggestions for travel powers that I'd like to see implemented. The flyposes used as alternate animations for fly just needs to happen, that's a given, but I would also like to see elemental particle effects, or just a glowy trail of light as one person mentioned a page or so back. It could really tie a concept together. Same with Superspeed, alternate animations (Normal run, Ninja run look if you have the booster, feral beast run) and elemental options, most notably fire and electricity. Teleport with elemental options (Tornado spin and bamf anyone?) and some alternate poses like Presto Chango or something.

And I hope I don't sound like a broken record but I'd like to restate my wish for some alternate "themes" to powersets like those in Spines and Earth powers. This kind of goes along with the wish for a sleeker ice armor set that alot of people have been requesting. Could extend to things like fire armor with a magma theme (different from Lava in Earth, maybe just something more molten looking than being engulfed in flames?) or perhaps some kind of glowy, close-to-body forceshield (Again, like Armor from X-Men or the various Lantern Corps' of DC) as alternates for Invulnerability and Willpower?

  15. I'd like to drop the suggestion that pretty much all blast and control sets be given two sets of alternate animations, one with a magic wand, another with a tech spin (wrist guns for control possibly? Definitely rifle for blasts. Would love a laser rifle blaster.) and weapon customization for said options.

I know that's a double whammy, but really it seems to me that it could be done via multiple themes (like gem and lava for earth powers) that have one set with a standard wand like Midnighters and a few Circle, and another for an elemental themed wand, and if we're going that route I would absolutely ADORE a traditional black with white tips magic wand, I have a character that would be PERFECT with that. Could possibly add in a second color pallete on the customization screen for the weapon itself, and then the powers so that we don't end up with some kind of ugly wand just because our power colors don't look good on the costume.

Possibly we could get something like this for defender primaries as well? I know Empathy would look pretty cool with a magic wand or a techy gizmo like the medicine pool, and a sonic rifle for Sonic powers would be spiff.

I'm also going to throw in my lot for possible different animations in general for blasts, not just emenation points mind you, but different animations to give the sets more versatility and style. Perhaps a set of animations that would allow you to turn your energy blaster into an all-eyelaser blaster, or maybe a set of energy blast animations that encorporate runes in the air like Demon Summoning to make it look more like magic, same could be done with other blast sets easily (maybe not the eyebeams but certainly the magic). I have a few character concepts that would like to use blast sets but the clenched fist style of attacking kind of breaks the magical concept immersion.

And last but not least I'd like to see more "themes" as the dev team termed them. We got gemstone and lava themes for Earth sets, and Bone/Thorn/Metal/Crystal/Slate for Spines. I'd love to see that branch out a bit to breath life into some older sets and maybe allow them to mesh well with some other sets thematically. Just to name a few ideas that I can think of off the top of my head: Magma style for fire control/blasts (nothing that would make it mistakeable with Earth, but some sort of oozy lava and magma dripping imps would be sweet. could also be set to darker colors and odd shades to make some sort of ooze/slime powers), Thorny varient to plant that makes it more briar/bramble style, Flowering style with tintable flowers, roses would probably be very popular here, also a Tree theme that makes the vines look thicker with more bark to give it more a "Wood control" than "Plant control" feel. A Shadow theme to Dark powers, something akin to Kinetics set to all black dark settings to make it look like you're controlling sleek shadows rather than fluffy darkness. Also would love to see some alternate style themes for various powers like Energy Melee and Energy Blast, like a theme that would make Energy Blast look like the Praetorian Police blasts, and the same for Energy Melee, just a few general themes to various powers that could have alternate particle effects and the like to make them not only tintable but give them a deeper level of customization, it would open doors to all kinds of new ideas and thematic combinations.

Sorry for the wall of text Castle, but it's stuff that seems like it would be fairly easy to implement with not too much work and yet would give you all kinds of fun new character ideas to play with.

EDIT - Forgot to mention as well, I support the notion of alternate animations for weapon sets as there are some I just don't want to play due to clunky looking animations. Perhaps a bit more elegant looking Broadsword set (I know it sounds like an oxymoron) as I have a sleek-looking tech guy that uses a laser sword and force shield and then he stands there and does this clunky looking overhand strike and it just breaks the look altogether. Also, perhaps a bit more elegant Katana stuff as well. While we're at it, perhaps an alternate animation set for Warmace that is tailored specifically for Hammers? I know it fits well enough already, but a set of animations themed to fighting with a warhammer that's flagged so you can't choose it unless you have the hammer or carnival mallet in costume selection (and so you can't select it with other weapons unless they fit well enough) would make those style characters much more believable. And I don't think I have to echo the people in saying a calmer version of Dual Pistols would make life very nice for cowboy and pulp/noir characters.

This also reminds me and leads into the idea of "Can we please have elemental weapons choosable for weapon sets?" We get elemental shields to match up to elemental melee powers, what if I want a Broadsword/Ice tanker and want to give him an ice sword, or a Broadsword/Fire tanker with Greater Fire Sword as his weapon? I know some of these would take new assets (Like a dark sword, or an electric hammer), but such things have already been requested as alternates for elemental attack sets so you could kill two birds with one stone. This could also extend to Energy Melee and Super Strength technically, with themes that allow your melee to resemble fire/electricity/whatever. Anyway, shutting up now. My wall of text is erected and I'm leaving it alone.

    Boom crash!

This is venturing into the realm of absolutely ridiculous. I'm one badge away from collecting ALL my explore badges and I was on my way to it when the crash happened. I swear if it's not back up at some point tonight I'm gonna pitch a hissy fit. XD

On a more serious note I DO hope it's not something really serious. You don't often see just ONE server crash and not come back up for over an hour.

  18. Made a thread about this a while back. Not EVERYTHING mentioned is feasible I know, but it's got some good ideas and would be worth a read I think. Can be found here.

As far as keeping something in this thread:

Ghost booster. I want a ghostly floating sprint power that will make my character hover like a ghost (not actual flight, just a sprint power with that sort of animation), and a ghostly aura/appearance option that makes them transparent like Numina, Woodsman and War Witch, with an alternate version that also gives them the ghostly glow (tintable of course) like Spectral Pirates/Croatoa Ghosts. Not enough to be stealth-like, just enough to give a ghostly appearance. Extra points if some tattered costume pieces are included, even MORE points if we get just some wispy-looking pieces for that ethereal effect.
  19. Just gonna weigh in an echo a few sentiments that REALLY need echoing and possibly bringing up a couple points that I'm not sure have been hit as I skipped a page in my haste to respond.

Objective feedback: No tails, no heads, as mentioned before. With skin option needed to make these pieces anywhere near as versatile as they need to be to mix and match with existing pieces. No belts which leaves the sets feeling a little naked. No monstrous options available to organic armor.

Subjective feedback: I am, along with most people here, VERY disappointed at a lack of monstrous heads and new animal tails. I'm even more disappointed, and hope that this will be rectified either before or VERY shortly after release, that there are no monstrous options for Organic Armor. If I'm going to use the hands I thing they should be able to have clawed fingers as it seems only appropriate. Would also like a new monstrous foot rig for Organic Armor as it would fit the theme and give us something that would match the monstrous legs pattern as, frankly, nothing does currently.

That leads into the fact that we NEED a "with skin" option for organic armor as it currently pretty much requires you to use the set unless you're into abruptly changing skin textures that look very jarring and unattractive. I'd really like to use this set with a particular character of mine but until I have "with skin" it won't work at all. Also, even with the current state of things, when I use the Organic Armor face there is a very jarring and abrupt change of texture around the neck which I absolutely DESPISE in my costumes if I use the proper texture for the face to achieve glowing eyes and color to the face armor. Perhaps we could get an option for the face armor as seperate so we can use seperate faces with the set and have the glowing eyed face be a seperate option? Would also mean we could have the armor be one color and the eyes another which would be very useful.

And on THAT note, perhaps we could have an option with these for "No Glow"? While yes it's a nifty option, I might like to use JUST the horns or JUST the wings from that particular set, and when they glow and nothing else on the costume does it can be very off-putting and makes it far more mismatched than most would like unless you set the color to black, which makes the details impossible to see and, personally, I don't like black horns anyway.

And as for random little tidbits: Bioluminesence would look REALLY spiffy with a matching tail, Organic Armor wouldn't be hurt with the same and a belt either. Perhaps the glowing effect on these pieces could be tied to the particular pattern you apply to it rather than the texture itself? i.e. Choose Bioluminescence texture in black and orange, set to Bioluminescence pattern in white to make the glow texture white, and indeed, make it glow at all. Perhaps choosing the darker end of the shade would result in a non-glowy version as I mentioned farther up?

TL;DR: Please give us monstrous versions of these sets, with skin options, and an option for non-glowy versions if we so desire, and seperate pattern color options for the glow texture so they don't look too bland.
  20. If you want to go by traditional naming conventions of Arachnos most of the SoA are called either Operative Jones, Huntsman Jones, or if you want to make an arbiter then Arbiter Jones, Jones being interchangable with the characters last name. Widows are usually Widow Jones, Night Widow Jones or Fortunata Jones.

Then you get into the higher ranking Arachnos people with codenames like Shadow Spider who is technically a widow if I remember right. She's an ex-Knife of Artemis and an Arachnos spymaster/assassin. It's all really down to how you want to spin your character.

For example, I have an SoA and a Widow. My SoA is Arbiter Snow, real name Richard Snow, easy enough. My Widow on the other hand was found as an orphan by Kalinda and given the name Winter. She'll eventually be made into a Fortunata, but she'll go by the name Widow Winter, more in line with someone like Shadow Spider, but still conforming to Arachnos naming conventions. Up to you really. Some people play the characters as straight Arachnos (I know I don't plan on using anything but their default arachnos uniform outside of an occasional special event like halloween or something.) and others are out of the uniform as soon as possible and play them as really effective Doms and/or Stalkers for Widows or mercs with stolen Arachnos tech for Soldiers. It's up to your imagination.

Seriously though, I know it'd be alot easier for newcomers to find a channel like Virtue LFG moreso than Alpha and Virtue TFs over the 2009/2010 variant. Took me forever to finally get all my channels set up with the actual active ones in my tabs before I could comfortably settle in.
  22. Oh I'd love that as well Doc, I just don't really have my hopes up that it'll happen. If it does I'd be THRILLED, I've always wanted to make a Carnival Ring Mistress, and having access to the mask as an individual piece could make for some interesting character costumes/concepts. Also custom AV's in AE that could have actual enemy group costume pieces could really help canon arc writers.

Actually, War Witch stated in the Q&A last night that once they finished the Origin series they'd be free to do whatever they wanted with the boosters (not in those exact words but that's how I interpreted it) so I doubt they'd do a second set of origins. That being said though, there's plenty of other specialized concepts that could easily include what you mentioned. Gadgetry seems to be high on the list and I'll agree with that, be it modern tech armor stuff, steampunk, dieselpunk or even some sort of "built out of mom's basement" junk tech set, I'd love any of it. Could definitely see some sort of "other-dimensional" pack for world-travellers or dimension hoppers that could have some new glowy aura's of power, different wings, skin patterns and what have you. On that note I'd love to see a booster that allowed you to apply patterns/colors to skin. There's a few characters I have that could benefit from an expanded skin-tone pallete or the ability to have circuitry under their skin.

Also going to echo my support for a Lovecraft pack if for nothing other than the fact that I adore Lovecraft and would kill for a set of back tentacles ala Lasher. <3

Would love an Ouroboros booster as well, or if not then at least a way to unlock the belt/chest strap/badge in game so we could make our own.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments aside I also forgot to mention the other idea that I'd really like to see implemented. An Alien Pack would be very useful and probably receive a wide range of use. Right off the top of my head I'd love to see a shorter set of antennae ala Gazoo, or some different types of faces (i.e. Grey alien, extra eyes without the detail option) possibly a few monstrous heads so we could have a big bulbous alien head, or a customizable face underneath a glass dome for those who don't breath Earth's atmosphere. Throw in some alien space suit tech, possibly some Buck Rogers flavored outerspace gear for those of us who prefer the Martian Manhunter style and we'd have a pretty solid booster. Could include a holophone emote, one for fiddling with an alien gizmo, perhaps even one to just look around in amazement at the strange planet you find yourself on. Kind of at a loss for a power but the first two things that spring to mind would be either an alien blaster pistol of some sort that fires a stun ray for a disorient effect on an enemy (useful for those without much mitigation) or a long-cooldown teleport power that would allow you to set a way point in a zone and teleport there (I'm thinking once every 30-60 minutes to avoid overuse and possibly disabled in PVP) but we already have a ton of vet/prestige teleports so it might be a little lackluster, or not, all depends.
  24. As per the Q&A with the devs earlier today, I figured I'd start up this thread as I couldn't find one. War Witch mentioned that after the release of the Mutant Pack (which they're trying to get out before GR) the concepts they could work with for future boosters are nearly limitless. She also mentioned that if we have any suggestions we should put them in a dedicated thread, so here we are.

What would you all like to see in a future superbooster as a theme? Any specific ideas that you'd like to see implemented? How about ideas for powers to be included with the booster pack similar to what we've gotten so far?

The first idea that springs to mind for me, which I've mentioned a time or two in discussions would be a Ghost Pack. Could include some newer tattered clothing options, maybe a wispy cape/cloak of some sort, and an aura option to make your character look like the ghosts in game (or perhaps tintable if you don't like bright green) along with transparency so we don't have to take a stealth power to look ethereal. No actual stealth, just slightly see-through like War Witch and Woodsman. For a power to include with this I'd suggest a sprint-level movement toggle with a unique animation like ninja run. When toggled on it would make your character levitate off the ground similar to hover or perhaps something newly animated and ghostly looking. Not an actual flight power, simply a sprint alternative that would make your character float at ground level for a more ghostly appearance. Preferably could be toggled on with ninja run for a fast-moving float.

So what are your ideas fellow CoXers? Pirates? Aliens? Merfolk? Undead? Golden Age? Medieval Knights? Space Rangers? Killer Sloths? The possibilities are endless and if we let the devs know our ideas then it's all the more likely they'll make it to the game some way or another. So let's get the ball rolling folks! What do you want in the next Super Booster?
